This Showtime offering has just been picked up on my To Do List. Kirstie Alley is the star. The title of the first episode is "Big Butts". Maybe you guys can give Leah Rimini a rest and go after Kirstie.

I'd go after Kirstie before I'd go after Leah.

I'd go after Kirstie before I'd go after Leah.
I agree that Kirstie has a prettier face, but she still needs to get back down to her "Cheers" weight before I'd do her.

The original posters on the Leah thread have been getting quite defensive about their statements being criticized, but when I read the heading, I was expecting to see a Kristie Alley-type blow up, not chubby pregnant weight.
Such a shame to see a hottie like Alley just lose control like that.

Do you say this when your friends make the same comment? Duh!!! Of course I will never get the opportunity. Nonetheless, even if the opportunity presented itself (does that make you feel better?) I would not do her at her present weight. 50-60 lbs of excess weight is a turnoff for me, whether the woman is a celebrity or a "nobody". If you don't mind the excess baggage, YOU can do her (if the opportunity presented itself). :)

Do you say this when your friends make the same comment? Yeah, I do. I'm just sarcastic a lot, but comes off more fun in person, I suppose. :p

YOU can do her (if the opportunity presented itself). :) I wouldn't do her either way. :) But I want to see the show because I think she is funny.

It's still all very shocking to me. I *NEVER* pegged Kirstie Alley as someone who would end up grossly overweight. She just never looked like the type to me (body structure). My dad always said "if you want to know if a woman is going to end up fat, look at two things...her mother and her arms."
I have never seen her mother, but Kirstie's arms always looked skinny to me.
Egads!!!

Did you ever see Kirstie first national TV appearance as a contestant on Match Game back in 1978?
Gene Rayburn and all the guys fell all over themselves trying to hit on her (only partly in jest, it seemed). At the time Kirstie had just moved west from Wichita and was intending to pursue a career in interior decorating.
Wonder if she used Pier One back then? ;)
Her appearance(s) sometimes show up on GSN. She came on the first time near the end of a show, so her gameplay didn't actually happen until the next show.
Fun to see, if you get the chance...and yes, she was super-mega-hot at the time.

Hmmm, I've never found Kirstie Alley to be hot at all. She was attractive on Cheers, but only mildly so. She always seemed just a little chubby to me and I'm not at all surprised to see her looking as she does now. Jenny Craig is taking a big risk by putting her in the commercials as her fat self and hoping she'll lose the weight. Won't they look stupid if a year from now she's not significantly thinner. :D

Kirstie was on David Letterman tonight and she said that Showtime will be free when her first episode of "Fat Actress" airs so people that don't have Showtime (like me) can check it out.
She looked good tonight on Letterman. She's still heavy, but she said she's lost 22-23 lbs and it does show.
She's got about 30 to go. ;)

No problem. They'll just get her hooked on cocaine again like she was on Cheers!

I assume this'll record even if the channel isn't in my Channels You Receive. If not, y'all have until the sixth to let me know this. ;)

If you go to the Showtime web site, they have a link where you can put in your zip code and provider to check if it is being offered to you. I did so, and it said that Directv has not confirmed that they will offer the free preview (which includes an Usher concert on March 5 and a championship boxing match). It suggests calling D*'s 800 number.

Well, since all I have is analog cable, and Cox just changed the lineup two weeks ago and took HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax off the analog side, it won't matter to me if Showtime is free in my market. It's not even on a channel I have access to.

Don't worry if you don't have Showtime. Yahoo! will stream the premier for a full week, starting Monday, so you'll have a chance to check it out.
I'm bummed I missed her on Letterman. He made a comment earlier this week that he's always liked her. I wanted to see how that played out ...

They got along really well. He mentioned *several* times how he was embarrassed having her on since he's made fun of her weight problem in the past. She was very cool about it and she makes fun of it herself so they both had a good time.
She even made fun of her cocaine problem that lasted for four years. So she said that every time she has a problem with something it goes for four years, so she's definitely due to lose weight now. :)
Bummer if DirecTV doesn't offer it. Yahoo is a nice alternative but I'd much rather watch it on my TV Screen than a computer screen.

I just checked and all of the Showtimes on DirecTV are unblocked. It looks like I'll get to see Kirstie after all (and Usher too)!

I thought so too, but when I learned ( today ) that it was a free SHO weekend it seems like there's no episodes on again until Monday.
I was curious to see the show, but not enough to sign up for a month of Showtime. ( I guess I could try the old 1-day thing people did for Sopranos )
oops.. preview runs through Monday, not Sunday night like they usually do. Time to add it in.

Kirstie Alley is going to be on Larry King tonight (Monday). It's not in my TiVo guide (not unusual), but I saw the commercial for it on CNN.

OMG. The first five minutes of this show were just about the most annoying and unfunny TV I have ever seen. And it didn't get much better after that. I can't believe I was looking forward to this. I mean a black man into big butts is the best storyline they could come up with??? And while the show is called Fat Actress, I didn't really expect fat "jokes" like "her butt is as big as a cab."
At least The L Word will make my free preview of Showtime this month worth it.

It was *terrible* I'm very disappointed. I was hoping this would be Kirstie Alley's comeback.
My TiVo cut off the last few minutes of the show and I was actually grateful!
It may in fact be the final nail in the coffin for Kirstie's career. Unless she loses weight!
....need to find something to wipe the bad taste it left in my mouth.

Awww, man, I can't believe it was bad. I didn't watch it cause I had to Tivo the Contender for the kid. I was thinking about switching from HBO (since nothing's on now) to SHOW for a while, but it looks like it's not worth it.
