I'm renting a house right now and until I buy a new house I'm stuck with one tuner. Here's my dilemna. I want to record CSI at 9 and ER at 10, but ER actually starts at 9:59 so it conflicts with CSI. I tried to switch CSI to a manual recording, but I can only choose 9:55 or 10:00 for the stop time. Is there anything else to try?

Thanks
Rob

Set ER to a manual timer starting at 10.

You can try writing a letter to your local NBC affiliate to have them press the network to stop the scheduling shenanigans or you'll quit watching!

What usually goes on in the first minute of ER anyway? (I don't watch it)

It 's not a schedule glitch. It actually starts at 9:59 on the dot. Makes no sense. The only reason could be that this gives them their own unshared timeslot in TV guide.

I guess I'll try 9:00 to 10:00/10:00 to 11:00 one week and 9:00 to 9:55/9:59 to 11:00 the next. I'll stick with whichever one my wife complains about less.

It's to combat DVR's...

I've been relegated to watching it live, so I don't miss the first 1minute.

I would guess that they schedule ER a minute longer to bring in some extra ad money, not to mess with DVR's. ER is a top-rated show and commands a lot more money per 30 seconds of commercial than other shows. Seems like nit-picking, but I'm sure it adds up to a lot more money over the course of a season. We the viewers get screwed while some executive gets a fat bonus.

Quite a while ago I set it up as a manual from 10 to 11. I do miss the very beginning but it's better than missing a whole show because of their lousy minute.

They're maximizing their revenue, and I don't blame them one bit for it, even though it annoys me no less than anyone else here. The networks are far from worried about DVRs right now.

I thought you could schedule 9 to 9:55 and then go to options and select stop 4 min late.
