Oh no, he only has three shows now. Boo hoo.

Seriously, I can't believe this no-talent hack replaced Rick Dees.

I don't disagree with you about Seacrest, but that seems to be an apples to apple switch! :D What exactly is Mr. Dees doing these days? Still living off of Disco Duck royalties?

Somewhere right now there's a Dunkleman (sp?) that's ROFL(H)AO....

I guess it helps to know his signature phrase is "Ryan Seacrest - Out" although I can see how easily that could be misinterpreted.

Perhaps "Off Air with Ryan Seacrest" would be more appropriate.

Wow .. lots of hate for someone innocuous as this.

He didn't only replace Rick Dees, but he also replaced Casey Kasem (http://www.at40.com/).

As for what Chef Boy R. Dees is up to, he still has his own syndicated Top 40 Countdown show (http://www.rick.com).

I think something good is going to happen to you today.

Ahh.. so it's jealousy. :-)

Besides, I would think if people really didn't like him, he would not be getting any ratings.

Well, that seems to be the case, doesn't it?

agreed, perhaps when Jase comes out of the Big Brother house, he can take over the show (they look alike to me)

Being rewarded so richly for being as bland as this guy (the talent-twin of Carson Daily, IMO) is reason enough to earn great disdain sez I.

I don't get it. They renewed this just recently and then turned right around and cancelled it? Strange...

When Dick Clark is done rocking New Year's Eves, how much ya wanna bet Seacrest will be doing it?

Though isn't Dick Clark a robot?

As for he wouldn't be getting ratings if people didn't like him, that's exactly the point. The ratings for his TV show tanked, so the show's been cancelled.

Bland, milquetoast entertainment will always win. As the cliche goes, you'll never go broke catering to the lowest common denominator.

Well, count me in as a fan. Ryan's been a radio personality in L.A. for quite a while and I happen to think he's pretty talented. His quick wit is more apparent when his dialogue is off-the-cuff and not scripted (like it is for the pre-teens watching American Idol.)

I also give credit to the guy for spinning so many plates -- he's not yet 30 and he's accomplished quite a lot. He's obviously a hard worker, and didn't just "luck" into his success. While the cancellation of this show may be a disappointment for him, let's not forget he's still with American Idol, keeps his daily radio show, and does the American Top 40 weekly countdown. He's also producing and hosting the new American Top 40 Awards that will start in 2005. The guy is busy.

I read that Randy and Simon call him "little Dick" because he wants to build a career like Dick Clark. And I agree with TiVoJedi, Ryan *will* be the successor to that New Year's Eve franchise.

He prefers the term, "Artificial person."

The news stories all were very careful to say they renewed HIS contract, but they did not renew the show. With the show getting cancelled, his contract is basically a talent holding contract now.

Some might say it's actually a no-talent holding contract now :D

Hehe, I was waiting for that. ;)

The double-entendre certainly wasn't lost on me, I thought it was pretty funny when I read that (TV Guide?)

this just in: (I believe his contract with E! is for over 20 mil)

Ryan Seacrest's plan for world domination is nearly complete. He just signed a deal to executive produce and host E!'s Live from the Red Carpet, starting with the Golden Globes on January 16. He'll be the main host with roaming reporters Isaac Mizrahi and Giuliana DePandi actually down on the red carpet as celebrities start to arrive. But wait! There's more. In March, Seacrest will also become managing editor and co-anchor of E! News, a daily celebrity newscast on the entertainment channel currently hosted by Giuliana DePandi. As part of the deal, Seacrest will also produce and host celebrity interviews for E!. All of this is in addition to his hosting duties for American Idol and his M-F job as a DJ at a Los Angeles radio station and also as the host of American Top 40 radio show. Do you think he has it in his contract that he gets to say "Seacrest Out" at the end of each broadcast? Ah, well. One Ryan Seacrest is a heck of a lot better than Star Jones, or Joan and Melissa Rivers.

He doesn't bother me as much as a lot of 'stars'. I think he is funny in some ways.

Now, what ever happened to Dunkleman?

Dunkleman/Dunkelman sucked - it was so apparent that Seacrest was the talent when American Idol axed the former and kept the latter. The first season of AI everyone kept saying the hosts could go - the second season showed only one needed to!

From what I've read Ryan has been a workaholic for years. It's nice to see someone get rewarded for hard work!

Yeah, the guy's basically got the career I always wanted and he's six months younger than me, but I can't bring myself to feel too much malice for the guy. I give him lots of points for showing tons of respect to Dick Clark even before he was announced as joining the NYE show - and pre-stroke, Dick was quoted in some interview as not wanting to discuss Seacrest because Dick considered him "competition."
