Last night’s Top Moments were all about the pipe—the Men’s Snowboard Halfpipe competition, that is. The highly-anticipated event ended in disappointment for Team USA’s Shaun White: After foregoing his spot in the Snowboard Men’s Slopestyle in order to focus on the quest of a Gold hat trick in the Snowboard Men’s Halfpipe, White suffered a disappointing loss to Russian-born Iouri Podladtchikov, a/k/a/ “I-Pod.” White had scored a 95.75 with a fabulous second qualifying run, but in the finals he struggled on a slushy halfpipe, ultimately yielding Gold to I-Pod and Continue Reading

Heat wave—literally and figuratively! Temperatures in the 60s caused dangerously soft snow on the Sochi  slopes, but that didn’t stop the top athletes skiing their way to the five most-watched moments from NBC’s Monday night coverage of the 22nd Winter Olympics. Top male and female Alpine skiers tore through one of the hardest courses in downhill history. The course heartbreakingly conquered some, while others conquered it in these breathtaking five Top Moments. The top five most-watched moments from NBC’s Sunday night coverage of the 22nd Winter Olympics in Sochi featured five of the world’s top female athletes, including three Americans.  The most-watched moments include two thrill-of-victory ice skating wins, and three agony-of-defeat fumbled snowboarding routines. Top Moments #1 and #2 were claimed by competitors from Great Britain and Russia.  Great Britain’s Aimee Fuller took the #1 spot last night while performing in the Women’s Slopestyle Snowboarding Semi-Finals at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park: Fuller fell while attempting to land a double back Continue Reading

Snowboarders and skaters dominated the first full night of NBC’s primetime coverage of the 22nd Winter Olympic Games from Sochi, Russia. Women’s Figure Skating stuck the #1 and #2 landings among last night’s five Top Moments. The winning Top 5 Moment was American Ashley Wagner looking up at the scoreboard showing her in first place after a fabulous performance in the short program of the team event. Though Wagner placed only fourth in the U.S. Championships in Boston a month ago, she made the three-person Olympic team based on her Continue Reading

The world said hello to Sochi last night, but perhaps more importantly, Sochi said “Zdravstvujtye” to the world. In a spectacle worthy of Cecil B. DeMille, the 22nd Winter Olympic Games began with aerial acrobatics, Russian classical music, a human light show, more Russian classical music, and floats accompanied by—you guessed it—Russian classical music. With 40,000 people in attendance, Fisht Olympic Stadium played host to 88 national delegations, the singing group t.A.T.u., a talking bear, and tennis player (and Sochi native) Maria Sharapova. Here are the top five moments of Continue Reading

In 1992, Jay Leno took over Johnny Carson’s role as host of NBC’s late-night show. Last night, 22 years later, he’s signing off – and with quite a bang. On his final night of the ‘best job in show business’, his lineup would’ve given the big-dipper a run for its money: Oprah Winfrey, Billy Crystal, Kim Kardashian, Garth Brooks, Cheryl Crowe and Jack Black all preceded the concluding monologue which was complete with tears, jokes and a hand-off to Jimmy Fallon to take over the reins. So amid all of Continue Reading
