TiVo Announcements

The first week of competition in the XXX Olympic Games is in the books, and Day 7 was all about aquatics, with swimming occupying all five of the TiVo Top Moments from last night’s primetime broadcast.  Threepeats are rare, but when they come twelve years apart, they are epic, Olympian, majestic, daunting… Phelpsian! As the Grand Marshall of U.S. swimming bids farewell to Olympic competition, the new faces of the sport have already begun to emerge. In seventh place at the first turn, Michael Phelps broke away from the pack to Continue Reading

All eyes are on London and for better or worse, NBC has been bringing it to us live (or delayed) – just do a quick Google or Twitter search if you want the popular opinion on that subject. Of everything out there, we know you’ve been spending primetime watching a lot of swimming and gymnastics – and even some great performances by parents in the stands. And we’ve been watching what you’re watching. But there are some golden moments – literally – that haven’t made the Top 5 that we Continue Reading

Gymnastics ratings leapt off the charts of TiVo’s Top Moments for Day 6 of the London Olympics. The most-watched moment was Gabby Douglas winning the gold medal in the women’s gymnastics all-around final, followed by Douglas’s sparkling floor routine and Aly Raisman’s slip on the balance beam. Aly Raisman was Team USA’s last hope for a high score on balance beam. NBC commentators and American audiences cried out as Raisman flailed and lost her balance along with her claim to a medal. Another nail biting moment: Gabby Douglas’s unsuccessful challenge to the title of Aliya Continue Reading

Swimming once again provided dramatic highlights on Day 5 of the Olympic Games. USA’s Nathan Adrian took the top spot on the podium and the top spot for the most-watched moment of Wednesday’s primetime coverage. Adrian won the men’s 100m freestyle by a fingertip – a mere hundredth of a second was the margin of victory over Australian James Magnussen. Daniel Gyuta of Hungary set a new world record in the 200m  breaststroke, finishing ahead of the host country’s Michael Jamieson. Men’s gymnastics took center stage with a disappointing performance by John Orozco on Continue Reading

Women’s Gymnastics captured the top spots for the most-watched moments on Day 4 of the Olympic Games. McKayla Maroney came to London so she could dominate the vault. Last night, Maroney performed one of the most difficult and dangerous vaults and stuck a perfect landing, which landed her in first place on the TiVo Top Moments. Another highlight for American audiences was watching Russian gymnast, Anastasia Grishina, lose her balance while performing in the team artistic event. Americans gloated over the Russian team being brought to tears. Finally, between Maroney’s Continue Reading

Aly Raisman’s parents are officially internet-famous. Joining the ranks of Laughing Baby, and Double Rainbow guy, their adorably intense reaction to one of Aly’s Olympic gymnastics routines is making the rounds online – sweeping up YouTube views and hitting sports news sections from the LA Times to USA Today. The clip shows Aly’s parents rocking and rolling along to their daughter’s uneven bars routine as if they were flying through the air themselves. The made-for-TV-moment didn’t just steal hearts online – Aly’s parent’s hilarious reaction was the number one top-watched Continue Reading

Swimming finals dominated the most-watched moments during day 3 of the London Olympic Games, followed by men’s gymnastics. John Orozco’s pommel horse woes were perhaps the lowest moment for the USA Men’s Gymnastics Team and landed Orozco in the day’s TiVo Top Moments. Another disappointment for Team USA was Ryan Lochte’s fourth-place finish in the 200m freestyle, missing the podium by a tenth of a second. However, not all TiVo Top Moments from day 3 were low points for Team USA: Missy Franklin’s performance in the women’s 100m backstroke – less Continue Reading

The USA Women’s Gymnastics team dominated Sunday night’s TiVo Top Moments. Teammates Aly Raisman and Gabby Douglas attracted the most attention on the Vault and Uneven Bars.  USA’s McKayla Maroney, with a broken toe, performed her marquee event, the Vault.   The USA Swim Team finished a dissappointing second place in the 4×100 Freestyle Relay as they fell to a dramatic come-from-behind surge by the French team.  France, whose team finished second in this event four years ago, provided some entertaining drama in the pool following their win.   TiVo’s Continue Reading
