TiVo Announcements

Performances dominated a very emotive Grammy Awards ceremony last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. From President Obama encouraging musical artists to use their influence to speak out against rape and domestic violence, to Pharrell and Prince’s acknowledging the #BlackLivesMatter movement, the typically buoyant ceremony had some very serious undertones. But in the end, musical performance prevailed, as evidenced by TiVo’s Top Five Moments for the 57th Annual Grammy Awards:   8:49pm – Madonna’s performance of “Living for Love” ranks as TiVo’s Top Moment of the 2015 Continue Reading

Lately it seems that every time I turn on the TV, I’m treated to a new, odd version of Rob Lowe. So far I’ve seen Scrawny Arms Rob Lowe, Crazy Hair Rob Lowe, and Painfully Awkward Rob Lowe. The commercials are cute, but as a life-long fan of the Brat Pack, I know there’s much more Lowe to know. Lowe’s first film role was as Sodapop Curtis in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Outsiders. His costars included Patrick Swayze, Diane Lane, Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, and Lowe’s childhood friend, Emilio Estevez. Continue Reading

Emotions run high on the field and in commercials, but comedy is still king Today we announced TiVo’s top commercials and moments from Super Bowl® XLIX, and while “Deflategate” may have dominated much of the talk leading up to the game, the recurring theme of comedy lost no air – despite the emotional spots attracting attention. This year there were more serious, dramatic and sentimental spots than in previous Super Bowl broadcasts – including Budweiser’s ‘Lost Dog’ that won the top spot – but overall, comedy came through again with Continue Reading

It’s been about two weeks since Netflix starting streaming every episode of Friends, and about two minutes since I’ve watched an episode of Friends. All this Friends watching has convinced me of two things. One, I really have no excuse for not starting on those New Year’s resolutions, and two, my own friends could really bring more to the table. Don’t get me wrong, I love my friends, they’re great—but none of them are giving me free samples from Ralph Lauren, and not one of them has locked themselves in Continue Reading

It was a raucous evening of accolades, jabs, political commentary, and no-holds-barred humor with the occasional award thrown in for good measure. The 2015 Golden Globes marked the end of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s hosting triad. As befitting the “informal Oscars” presenters and recipients were more comfortable to speak their mind and let go with the occasional expletive (yes, Kevin Spacey, we’re talking to you). So, without further ado, here are TiVo’s Top Five Moments for the 2015 Golden Globes:   8:05pm – During their opening monologue, Tina Fey Continue Reading
