So I have now like most members wathed my Season 2 and no longer have a need for HBO until Season 3. I have paid my monthly dues to have them stored on my TIVO. I have not been able to find the answer and apprecite the input...
What happens to the copyright material "Season 2 G.o.T." once I drop my subscription to HBO? Do I loose them? do they stay on my TIVO unless I accidently remove them?
Keep in mind having paid $93 for three months of service between the three. I OWN this material now, or should at any rate. I am not keen on losing it because HBO thinks they should retain the rights.
Has TiVo ever addressed the fact that in the "add time to a recording" part of the software, the added time jumps from 1 1/2 hours straight to 3 hours?
I recorded the Michigan NASCAR race on Sunday and opted to add 1 and 1/2 hours. Luckily, I just caught Dale Jr. finishing his burnouts after winning, but missed all the post race interviews, analysis, etc.
Adding 3 hours would have conflicted with other recordings. I would have loved to add 2 hours, but it wasn't an option.
I've been putting off getting a Premiere (series 2 lifetime subscriber) for too long, and now that we just ditched our old bedroom tube TV for a new HD screen I think it's about time.
The question is should I go with one of the refurb 45hr models for $79, or get one of the new 75hr ones for $150? How likely am I to want the 75hrs over the 45? How easy is HD upgrading now? (it was pretty easy as I recall in the series 2 days).
Besides the hard drive is there any other potential benefit- chipset revision, or who knows what- to getting a "new" Premiere?
I'm going to be adding the $399 LT sub, so saving $70 on the hardware may not be the hugest concern, but saving is saving.
What do you think?
‘Gilmore Girls’ creator Amy Sherman-Palladino premiered her latest, ‘Bunheads,’ on ABC Family this month (6/11), but it’s not just the creator and the network (where GG lives on in syndication) that these shows have in common…set your TiVo and take a closer look: Only two-episodes into ‘Bunheads,’ Sherman-Palladino’s penchant for pop culture references and Sorkin-esque fast-talking scenes are already apparent. And in addition to repeat matriarch Kelly Bishop, we’ve also spotted Gregg Henry (Mitchum Huntzberger) as a surfer bartender and heard that Chris Eigeman (Jason Stiles) and Rose Abdoo (Gypsy) Continue Reading
From what I've read, the 30-second skip feature, which I love to use on our Series 2, has gone the way of the dinosaurs.
What's been people's experience in transitioning from one to the other?
I'm one of those people who values clever GUIs and gets irritated by pet features being dropped. I also dislike fast forwarding, being subject to a barrage of fast images! I can see myself being distracted by the change!
Or, is there a way of resurrecting the 30-second skip on the Premieres?
DVR Upgrade sells new Tivo Premiere with internal 1.5 TB hard drive, meaning 236 hours of HD recording. For $250. (AFAICT, they are new with internal HD.)
OTOH, BH Photo sells Tivo Premiere XL with 150 hours. For $213. Vann's sells it for $200.
Is the larger recording space worth the trade-off in lost features (seemingly only a glow in the dark remote & THX certification)?
If one buys from a 3rd party, are there glitches or issues in activating lifetime with Tivo?
I suppose, in any case, that I should pay for a month's fee first, in case I decide to return the Tivo!
I have a Premiere Elite Tivo which has a 2GB hard drive. I am not comfortable making my own replacement drive following the steps I have seen online here.
Since my hard drive is fine now is it possible to use a program to CLONE my current drive to keep as a backup or would that not work?
will be airing soon so are you all are ready for watch its next episode ?
So guys are you ready for watch
Hello I have for sale two TiVo Series3 HDTV DVRs. Both units are not working properly I have since upgraded to Premiers. Buyer would be purchasing a BROKE machine for parts or to fix.
1. Tivo Series 3 with the channel information on the front. I believe the hard drive is shot.
2. Tivo Series 3 with only light indicators on the front. The unit will not turn on.
Please PM or reply to this thread if you are interested. I can supply pictures and more information if interested.
On my HD I show my videos from three sources, my desktop, my laptop and my sons desktop all at the same time. On my Premier I only show one at a time and the only way to show another is to turn pytivo off and on again on the computer I want to see. Is there any setting for this on the Premier or is this another "enhancement".
Ok... here's the situation.
My parents will be moving to China at the end of the year.
My father is looking for ways to allow my mother to watch US content while in China.
They will be keeping their place here in the US and it will have cable.
One option I thought of was to have them get a tivo and use kmttg to automatically download shows and convert them into a small file, place the encoded file on dropbox.
Then dropbox will sync with the computer in China and my mother will be able to see some of the shows that she likes.
This will work for items that are on a season pass but won't work for special shows here and there.
They will be able to get to tivo.com so they can schedule recording and season passes from there.
Is there any way to download every recording to a local PC?
or are there other options we should look at?
slingbox is not reliable from china due to bandwidth issues.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Is there no way to get the old Hughes DVR2 to work with my Direct TV? I had used it when I originally got Direct TV, but when I switched to a common dish with the rest of my apartment building, the tech said I couldn't use it anymore. I eventually moved to a townhome and I would like to use the old unit on one of my tvs. I remeber a Direct TV tech admiting that he had heard of a possible firmware update? IS this true? Has anyone got the DVR2 to work with Direct TV recently?
Our HD rebooted tonight. After it booted, I watched a different show with no problem.
Then I went to finish the show that the reboot happened. The show did not have a position saved. I started at the beginning, jumped to the end, rewound back and started watching just before the reboot. It rebooted again when I hit the same spot.
I went again and rewound to just after the problem and finished the show from there.
So, bad hard drive? Anything to do besides replace it?
It was an HD show. I would hope that even a horribly corrupted MPEG could not trigger a reboot.
I just got the new Minor Software Update, the version went from 126.96.36.199 to 188.8.131.52, I guess it is small, am going to bed now, will check out sometime Tuesday.
Came on 3 of my four TPs
Wow, Apollo has the biggest ears on any human I've ever seen.
Community has submitted itself into an animation Emmy category while animated shows are banned from submitting into the Outstanding Writing for a Comedy category. Animators such Seth MacFarlane and Matt Groening are complaining about it.
Normally, I'd be against this but the 8-bit episode was so awesome and original and better than anything that The Simpsons or Family Guy has ever done that I really don't mind. :D
How far into the future does it go? I thought it was 2 weeks, but mine is at 11 days. Is this atypical?
I've managed to find my S1 DirecTivo that I had back around 2002 or so.
There are a couple shows on there that would be nice to have an archived copy of, but I'm not sure what tools would work for that now.
Could I get some advice on the most efficient/easiest way to take the recordings and turn them into an AVI or an MPEG? Preferably one that doesn't involve trying to reactivate the unit.
I don't have DirecTV service anymore (and I don't even know if the unit will boot up), but I figure as long as the hard drives are readable, I have options. Or so I'm assuming.
