Yesterday morning while my kids were eating cereal and watching Dora on Tivo, my HD Tivo went through an unexpected reboot. Not sure why.
Afterwards everything slowed way, way down. I hit the Tivo button, and it takes 30 seconds or more for it to register and pull up the menu screen. Every button I push on the Tivo remote takes up to a coupld minutes to get a response out of Tivo.
Pulling up the Guide takes close to 10 minutes as each line of infomation slowly appears one by one in 10-20 second intervals. If I take the 5 min's it takes to navigate to a recorded show, then there's no problem watching it. It's only when I'm asking Tivo to process a request that it's as slow as molasses. It's almost as though it's processor has slowed way down.
I've had the box for 3+ years and never had a problem. I forced a reboot and afterwards it starts out working OK for a few minutes, but then it begins to slow down again. It's virtually unusable at this point.
I was thinking that maybe it was a software update that backfired, but since I don't see anyone else complaining about this same issue I'm assuming it's not a software update prob.
Any suggestions for what might be causing this problem and how to fix it would be appreciated.
My Mom's Series 3 (OLED) TiVO 750GIg hard drive is failing. Just ordered a new 2TB drive from DVR_DUDE on Ebay. I know that I should do guided setup without a cable cards in. But after guided setup should I put both cards in with it unpluged and boot it up. Or should I reboot with the cards out and put one in at a time. I know that FiOS doesn't pair their cards but I need to know what order to follow.
Thank you for any help.
Clicking through the video that Ereth posted for Jonathan Coulton's song 'Redneck', I found Coulton on stage with Felicia Day singing "Still Alive", which as if you didn't know was the song played at the end of Portal
Felicia Day singing 'Still Alive'
I've just setup my Slingbox Solo after having it sit awhile. While using the iPad app I'm having trouble accessing my recorded programs. The TiVo button on the virtual remote isn't functioning. It looks like it may be grayed out.
Has anyone had a similar issue? Is there a simple fix? The channel and info buttons are working fine.
Do you get emails or phone calls from Tivo wanting you to re-activate the service with special promo offers? If so, what kind of offer(s)?
There’s nothing quite like navigating a world of YouTube clips with your trusty TiVo peanut remote, lounging in your favorite chair. One of our favorite things to do with our TiVo box is watch upcoming movie trailers (in HD!). Today’s trending video is a dramatized Hollywood version of The Great Gatsby, coming out around Christmas. So [...]
Does anybody have the setup of one THR-22 and two (or more) DirecTV DVRs in one house? I really would like to replace all three receivers with THR-22, but D* isn't budging -- well, unless I want to pay $600. Not to sound cheap, but I find it horrifying to have to pay $200 for even just one leased unit. I haven't talked to retention yet; but the various CSRs I have spoken with have at least offered the 1 Tivo + 2 D* DVRs at a much lower price. So I am just wondering if anyone has taken that offer and what is the overall viewing/user experience like?
(I have lost my local channels on my Series 1 DTivo, and with no easy solutions in sight, and I've wanted to upgrade to HD anyway, this seems like the logical step. But again, the upfront cost is just way too prohibitive...)
Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
This thread is a breakout from my Performance thread that was more of a discussion thread than a details thread which is what this one will focus on. This thread will cover a variety of different benchmarks run on my TiVo Premiere to try to glean performance enhancements or regressions.
My testing process includes running each test a minimum of 3 times excluding outliers that are obvious flukes. The times are averaged together then compared against other runs.
- TiVo 14.8c vs 188.8.131.52 benchmarks
- TiVo 184.108.40.206 vs 220.127.116.11 benchmarks
- TiVo 18.104.22.168 DNS benchmarks
- Tivo Premiere with latest firmware installed
- PC is dual core Dell, plenty of memory, Windows 7 pro 64 biit, new video card
I want to use kmttg and all of its features. In particular, I would like to use kmttg to get pyTivo to push files from my PC over to my Tivo.
I have read as much documentation as I can find, but I still get lost.
kmttg(main app seems to be working mostly okay)
Python(I have no clue if it is actually working or not)
pyTivo(I have no clue if it is actually working or not)
Has product lifetime service which means no monthly fees. It is model TCD652160 with a 160 GB drive. Holds about 20 hours HD or 180 hours SD programming.
This has an extended warranty from Tivo that is good through 6/20/2013 and is transferable to the buyer. It does have a problem. Sometimes the fan becomes very noisy. When it happens, I turn it off, then on (may take a few tries) and then it runs fine for months. I could get it replaced under the warranty, but since it has been a minor inconvenience, I thought that I would get as much life out of it as I could before getting it replaced. I think that the replacement will be eligible for another extended warranty ($40 for 3 years). I'm not 100% sure, but that is how I got the extended warranty on this one. I had a Tivo that failed during the warranty period and this one was the replacement and it was eligible for an extended warranty.
Includes original remote that is in great shape because I use a universal remote.
$350 including shipping to lower 48 states.
AMC will marathon all 19 episodes of The Walking Deads first two seasons the weekend of July 8, leading up to a special edition of Talking Dead and a never-before-broadcast black-and-white conversion of the series pilot.
The Dead-athon kicks off Saturday, July 8 at 11:30am EST, running to 1 am that night. The action picks back up Sunday at 11:30 am, leading into the 9 oclock Talking Dead special and then the 10 pm showing of the B&W series opener.
The marathon event will also be laden with behind-the-scenes footage and cast interviews, and maybe a peek or two at Season 3, premiering this fall.
This is a really fun series. If you've been debating whether to watch, then record this marathon and catch up!
I'm thinking that the new Netflix implementation features closed captioning. I need it. How is it turned "on"?:)
I have my Comcast Xfinity cable box configured so that I can record the one channel I'm watching using my TiVo Series 2 dual tuner. This was working fine until the end of April 2012. I could watch any channel from 2 through 846 and I could watch all channels for hours without interruption.
Sometime during April 2012 Comcast changed their service in some way they won't admit to me. Prior to that date I could watch their music channels (numbered 801 thru 846) for hours on end with no problems. After that date the music channels stop working after a few hours. When this happens I have to either refresh the cable box (using the Comcast automated refresh facility), physically turn off/on the cable box, or reset the TiVo.
Am I the only one experiencing this problem? I'm not interested in purchasing a new TiVo - it's beyond my budget.
bought a maxtor diamond 21 200 mb for the tivo im using. installed it and powered it up. it went into powering up mode like it should after couple minutes the screen went blank then powering up sign came up again then blank again its like it keeps recycling. can some1 tell me whats going on and

Every time I'm visiting tivocummunity.com from my iPad I get a popup telling me there's an iPad app for this forum.
I have a really good memory, once would be enough. Is there a way to make it stop (short of downloading an app I don't want)?
Had really hoped to see TiVo push out a app for TiVo prime video this is my second year as a prime member with no luck from TiVo, I guess looking forward to a spotify app anytime soon is a waste of hoping also
Hey, I'm new here and did a forum search but didn't find much. I was wondering if I could network multiple premiere XL boxes together to share out any recorded shows among one another? Basically just to watch recorded shows in other rooms in the house.
I thought I read on here were someone said they sent Tivo the Cable Card pairing info and Tivo called the cable company and activated the cards. Did I see that or imagine that?
Okay so I'm going to watch the entire series over again. Now that I have a full grasp on locations, houses, characters, etc I feel this might be fun. And I have some burning questions. Book readers, feel free to respond to anything that doesn't spoil beyond what's been aired. I'm sure there's backstory that HBO just couldn't get to that might help us understand some things.
Okay here's my list just from watching the pilot over.
1) I'm confused as to why Ned accepting Hand of the King meant he had to leave Cat behind? So the idea was they would just never see each other again because she was staying to be in charge of Winterfell? That's kind of crap.
2) I'm reminded of just what a bitch Cat was to and about Jon Snow. She wouldn't even allow him to eat with them all because it looked bad that the bastard be among the royalty? And the looks of disgust she gives him right in his eyes, just makes me seethe. Ugh. Hate her.
3) Gosh I had almost forgotten just how good looking Jamie is. He's been in dirt and grime this entire season. I do wonder why he and/or Cercei didn't just poison Robert the same way they did John Arryn. Clearly neither of them have anything but contempt for him.
4) Can someone clue me in again as to exactly what happened to Lyanna? I looked up on that Tower of the Hand site and this is what it says:
Lyanna was bethrothed to marry Robert Baratheon. (AGOT 5) At the tournament held at Harrenhal during the year of the false spring, Prince Rhaegar Targaryen shocked the assembled crowd when he bypassed his own wife to crown Lyanna queen of love and beauty. (AGOT 59) Not long after, he absconded with Lyanna under mysterious circumstances, one of the major causes of Robert's Rebellion. Lyanna was held at the Tower of Joy until near the end of the war when Eddard came to reclaim her. Eddard found her dying in the tower and made an unknown promise to her right before her death. She was buried in the crypts beneath Winterfell. (AGOT 5)
I'm not fully sure I get what the bolded part means. And it says he found her dying... but what from?
I also noticed a couple things that aren't questions just observations that I didn't fully pick up the first time. From the moment Cercei talks to Sansa she calls her "little dove". Also there's some serious dislike between Jamie and Ned that I didn't remember before. I also realized that Summer was pacing below when Jamie shoved Bran off the tower. You'd think the wolf would remember him and want a piece of him the moment he came down.
