I am running stream on both my iPad and iPhone. The HDMI cable accessory allows either to output to a tv. But as soon as you try to watch a show, the screen goes black and you get a "video mirroring is not supported" message. Oh well, so much for that pipe dream.
How should resuming a show work with the Stream? From what I can tell, a show will resume where you left off if you started it on the TiVo itself. But if you start watching a show through the Stream, and then you exit and start playing it again through the Stream, the show starts over. But if you start the show through the Stream, and watch the rest through the TiVo, it resumes fine. Are others seeing the same behavior?
Is anyone else seeing this issue:
If I try to tune an Xfinity OnDemand program by searching for it in the iPad app and click to tune it, I get the following error when I click Watch Now:
We're sorry. We cannot process your order at this time. Please try again. If problem persists please call 1-800-XFINITY (1-800-934-6489). Reference (CL-14) when calling.)
However, if I go to the main OnDemand menu and browse for the same program, it starts just fine.
Trying to stream shows that have been pushed to the Tivo (after editing with VideoRedo) causes an error. The Download (to iPad) option is not available on these shows but that's understandable. The option to Stream is there but when selected causes the app to display the message: An error occurred when trying to play this video.
If the same show is pulled from my PC to the Tivo I can stream and/or download. So, is this likely an bug in the IOS app or is it something VideoRedo has done to the video?
Season passes set to new are absolutely useless on this one; because Reelz didn't send the 'new' tag out on this show, it assumes all the episodes have aired on Global on Canada and Reelz is airing repeats (which is premiering the show in the US). This is the same as "Flashpoint", which has had problems recording on ION and CBS because the guide assumes that CTV has aired everything already and they're just showing repeats. Decided to just manually record this one instead because of that.
I am a Comcast customer in the Boston area and have the Motorola DVR with the TiVo software that is being discontinued so therefore I qualify for the "Boston Offer". For those who do not know, the Boston Offer is a free 320GB Premiere with service for $12.95 a month. Along with that offer though, TiVo is offering $100 off the other boxes although the reduced monthly rate does not apply. When the offer came out, the $100 off applied to the Premiere XL and the XL4. Now since the offer was presented, the XL has been discontinued and the quad tuner Premier 4 has been introduced. This is where my problem comes in. Does anyone know if TiVo will be allowing the $100 off to be applied to a purchase of the Premiere 4? I have called TiVo 4 times and have not gotten a straight answer yet. They keep giving me the run around and telling me to call back. They claim they are waiting for an answer from corporate as to if the Premiere 4 is going to be included in the deal or not. If anyone has any information on this I will certainly appreciate it. The Premiere 4 at the reduced price of $149 is much more appealing to me than the XL4 at $299 as I need the tuners but not the hard drive space. Any and all responses are welcomed and thank you in advance.
My TiVo S1 which has had a significant hard drive expansion (can't remember size, very old sig says 250Gb but I think I've added more since then), TurboNet card, Mode 0, endpad and various other addons needs a new home.
Available free to anyone who'd like to take it and EPG it.
We live in KT2 (Kingston Upon Thames) in South West London and it's free to collect or you could arrange a courier.
I'm at my wits end. The original 160mb drive was giving lots of trouble (or was it??) so everything I read pointed to the hard drive.
I went and got a pre-loaded 2TB drive and installed it... and here is what it does:
I can get it to boot, I can get it to the point where it'll run the Guided Setup... I can get the M-Card paired, etc...
Bur for some reason when all is said and done and I go back to the Main Menu -- it will show me the main menu for about 3-4 seconds and then it reboots.
So... I ran a bunch of Kickstarts... nothing...
I finally rant S.M.A.R.T. and I got a "Pass" on the first thing and then a "Fail 7" for the next 3 things. When I rant the test again, I got it to pass one more of them, but then failed two anyway... when I tried to run it a third time, it failed 3 again...
So... let me have it. Is this drive bad too? Is the HD trashed? I've tried it with the coax in, out, with the ethernet in, out, I've tried it all... nothing... I can leave it on the "Complete CableCARD Setup" screen and it doesn't lock up and the "search lights" move around and all... Same thing for "Important Message" -- I can stay there and it's fine... but as soon as I go to "Tivo Central"... Hello, "Welcome! Powering up..." cycle and then back to square one...
Ugh. Please help. Bad second drive? Bad Tivo? More tests.
What say you gurus?
Just hooked up my stream.
Downloaded a copy of the daily show in HD. Played perfectly.
Then I tried to stream 3 different shows to the ipad, all of them were buffering for 5+ minutes then gave me errors."Problem Playing Recording"
No special characters in the names.
The tivo premier and the stream are attached to the same switch and the ipad is connecting to that same switch via 802.11n, sitting 5 feet from the switch.
On 8/12/2012, I filled out the form on Tivo.Com for missing guide info. I have Comcast, and had 18 channels (at least, those were only the ones I checked) that were missing guide info...all that shows is "to be announced". A few days later I received a message on the Tivo that 4 of them have been added. I then added to the form online, and called customer service, and was told it would be "5~7 business days". I have since made ,I believe,3 additional calls (including one today), but they tell me that they do not directly control the guide info, and it must be corrected by Tribune Media. They say that they've tried to escalate it but there is only so much that they can do. I did receive 3 additional channels on 9/5/2012, but I'm still missing 11...
Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions about what I should do now? Anyway I can contact anyone "higher up" at Tivo? If so, would it do any good? It's been 4 weeks and I'm getting really frustrated. I have 3 Tivos with lifetime service, and I just added a Premiere with lifetime service this week...which I'm really going to regret doing if I can't get this straightened out...
After reading about the Stream, I decided to download the Tivo App for Tablets. I have a Droid X, Motorola Xoom, Kindle Fire, Samsung Galaxy 10.1. For IOS, there's iPod Touch (2nd & 3rd gen.) and an iPad (4G LTE). Gadget heaven here.... What I haven't been able to figure out for the last two days is why all of the IOS devices connect right away to the Tivos and the Android devices won't. I've been reading the forums for an answer and can't find one. I figured a response from this forum would be a whole lot better than calling Tivo and going through all one has to go through to resolve a problem. Does any one have an answer? Thanks for your help!
Anyone getting Damages via "other means"? The whole season has been on eztv but now for some reason the latest episode, S5E09, isn't there. Or anywhere it seems...
Anyone? Ideas? Bueller?
Figured I'd start a new thread for those having install issues.
I installed my box, originally got "Not successful" message or something.
Now the box has a blinking blue/orange flashing and seems to be looping during the software install process. I've reset the router, power cycled the Stream, etc and no change.
(I do have the new version of the Tivo ap on my iPad.
Originally, the info screen in the ap for the Stream was blank - now it shows:

If anyone had this same issue - what did you do to fix it?
[TiVo] TiVo Stream and RCN and the New TiVo App.
As you may or may not be aware of , TiVo launched a new Product called the TiVo Stream. This TiVo Stream allows customers to stream stored content from their TiVo to their IOS device (IPAD / IPHONE etc..) It also allows them to transfer over the network content that is NOT copy-protected to the IOS device so you can take it with you.. (outside the home).
At this point RCN can only support the TiVo Stream with the RCN Q TiVo. Thus you MUST have a TiVo Q in your home in order to get the stream to work. It will NOT work with Premieres at this point. As long as you have a RCN Quad Tuner TiVo on your account either in a Bundle or a standalone then it will work.
The Stream is depends on the TiVo's in the home being connected via MOCA or Hardwired. The Stream will NOT work if the TiVo is connected Via a wireless network.
Yes on the roadmap we are adding a line item to support this on the premiere but until then this will only work with the RCN Quad.

I was just looking at the system information screen in the iPad app and it has an entry for last call status and next scheduled call which is set for tomorrow. The stream doesn't get any guide data so why does it need to make a nightly call? I guess it will occasionally get software updates, but it seems like they could use a push method for that rather then a pull method. Just seems odd to me that it would need to make a call at all, let alone nightly.
Can anyone with a working Stream tell me the current software level after the initial download?
I had an odd problem this week that never happened before. I transferred "Hotel Hell" from a Tivo Elite to my original Series 3 in another room.
When I played back the program on the Series 3 , the audio was a strange "descriptive audio" meant for sight impaired audience. No way to unselect it on the Series 3. On the Elite, there was no way to select the descriptive audio sound on the original recording. Very strange.
Has this happened to anyone else? Bug? Feature?
I need some help in the comments if any of you Stream users would like to chime in! Its hard to imagine that this box for $129 is a 3/5. I know scores are arbitrary but she is basically comparing the Stream to something like HBO Go which lets you stream on-demand content for Free. How is that a valid comparison?
