I've had a Tivo HD for several years now with no problems, but last night it started giving me out of space errors. The strange thing is, the number of shows on the tivo is very limited - there's no way i could be at capacity.
So i downloaded some program to tell me what was on my Tivo and its reporting that I have 56Gigs of space used and 0 GB free.
I know Hard drives recover from failure by marking sectors as no longer usable, which is a probable cause to this loss of space, but before i start cracking open the tivo and taking it out of commission, i was wondering if there was anything else i should try to help fix or validate the problem.
Oh, i should mention that i went to Tivo Diagnostics after getting the out of space error, where the screen hung for 10 minutes on "please wait"- i had to pull the plug on it. So technically i've rebooted :)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Good episode tonight, they seemed to be hitting on all cylinders finally.
Lot's of funny side stories.
"Not now Weezie"
"You have boots like my dad"
I was really happy with my stream and thought it was great technology.
Then one day my wife pointed out that now we can't see the Tivo Premiere from the Tivo HD (or the other devices) so we couldn't transfer shows. I spent 2 weeks troublehooting that problem, only to find that the way to correct it is to enable multicast IP on my 2 routers. Great. There is a solution.
Except that wen you enable multicast, the stream cannot see the Premiere so I can't transfer data.
So we have the great mexican standoff. I have to turn multicast on so that we can use MRV, and then I have to turn it off to use the stream.
What a mess.
I have Charter Cable..Thinking of getting Tivo and replacing my cable dvr box..What is required for Tivo to work right..
There doesn't seem to be much interest in this show so I'll start a season thread. I was very unsure about this show after the first episode but I'm kind of enjoying it. We'll see.
Every time I begin to think about moving on to something else they do something to make me laugh out loud, and stick with it. This past week's was Bryan saying "What's going on? Is it my birthday?" I had to pause.
Interesting idea for a series. Is this really the first Nashville or country music based series? If so, credit the show creators, because this clearly is an idea for a series that is way overdue. I wouldn't be surprised if this series isn't too far off of some of the real drama that happens around Music Row. I was interested enough, even though I'm not really all that into most country music.
So far, it's very country music oriented... but with the Juliette Barnes character having some vague similarities to a Taylor Swift-like performer, I wonder if the parallels will continue to show the crossover between country music and pop.
I also wonder how fictional they will keep this version of Nashville, or whether they'll start to feature drop-in guest stars from the real world of country music.
I'll keep watching for now, if only because there isn't a whole lot else on Wednesday nights.
Thought they might actually win for once (or at least not come in last) but oh well....
Also I didn't save last week's episode, but didn't some of the women sit out the challenge? Thought you couldn't sit out the same people 2 straight challenges
Have a new Tivo XL4 and have noticed a problem sometimes when deleting Tivo suggestions while they are recording.
In the Tivo Suggestions, I hit the clear button to delete an active recording, the menu with the 3 options comes up [Stop Recording, Stop Recording and Delete and Cancel]. Occasionally, the focus isn't on the delete menu, but still on the list of Tivo Suggestions. If you try to use the back arrow to dismiss the screen or hit the clear button again, it blanks out the entire screen (just black).
Sometimes you can hit the TIVO button to restart the menu, but a couple of time all I saw was a blank screen with only the live channel window. You have to unplug the TIVO and restart it to clear the problem.
The software is up to date. Anyone have any ideas?
Well. This isn't wasting time is it? Okay jumbled thoughts for now so forgive. I'll have to watch again to pick up more stuff.
Is it just me or was the music really odd. Almost comedic. I didn't like it. It didn't fit the feel of the episode to me.
DEAN HUGGED CAS!!!!!
But Cas didn't hug back so does it count as their first hug?
Crowley red demon eyes finally! Red smoke! Dude. So classy.
"The winchesters, well they have a habit of using people up, and watching them die bloody"
How can you not love him. He's smarter than everyone.
Jared looked amazing. I can't get over how much I love his hair.
The hammer is awesome! Really glad he didn't give that back. Please tell me they take that with them. We need more cool weapons like that. The demon knife is awesome but old hat.
And Sam instantly tries to comfort Dean when he says people he doesn't need end up dead. Oh Sammy. I really need to know why he didn't look for Dean.
Cas at the end. Wow. That was not good.
ETA: Sam with the trick! If he stopped hunting how did he learn to keep the demon inside by saying it backward? hmmm.....
Owes a lot to Nolan's version of Batman and I had to get used to Stephen Arnell after several years of watching Justin Hartley on Smallville but overall, not bad.
Green Arrow was one of the few things I liked about Smallville at the end, so I'm looking forward to seeing this interpretation of the character and his DC universe... SP safely in place for now.
Only option I show is to view on TV.
I have a TiVo Premiere and just moved and I have a new cable company that sets all non broadcast channels to 0x02 copy protection. My previous company did 0x00 except movie channels and such, which was not a problem. What I like to do is record sporting events and transfer to PC and edit commercials, back them up to external hard drive, and watch later. Now I can't always do that depending on the channel.
I am open to some sort of workaround since I have only one cable option here. Is there any video capture solution where I can perhaps record to my PC and/or play my copy protected programs on the Premiere and show my TV screen on my PC and record the image? I prefer to be able to do this in HD but I will settle for standard def or using component cables to convert an HDMI quality which I guess is the next best thing. HD takes up a lot more hard drive space anyway.
I really only want nothing more than to do what I was doing with my old company. These are programs I really can't pay to own, either, so that's why it's such a big deal to me. Plus it's a hobby.
Anybody got a suggestion? I have researched and I have found some possible solutions but I'm not clear they'll work and they're expensive enough that I'm out of some money if they don't do what I need them to do.
On the program guide in the TiVo iDevice app does anyone know how to change the prime time button to show guide information starting at 7:00 instead of 8:00? Some people tend to forget that for half of the country prime time starts at 7:00.
Is there such a shortcut that I could program into my Harmony One?
One post said: Thumbs Down ; Thumbs Up ; Pause ; Pause would work, but I get no effect from that sequence.
Thanks in advance.
I cannot find the content ratings in the HD menu system on my new Premier (with the latest firmware). They are still showing up in the SD menus. What am I missing?
I was thinking of switching out from Wireless AP Bridges to connect all my TVIO's and switching over to MOCA Adapters.
What specific adapter are people using now? I looked up the NEtgear MOCA Adapter and it appears to be discontinued.
Forgive me if this is a known fact, but I'm on a phone and didn't find the answer in a quick search. I've been away from DirecTV since TiVo left it several years ago. I'm now moving into a new Miami building that uses Hotwire Communications for tv, phone, Internet so I can't use a CableCard TiVo. Only option left was to get DirecTV with TiVo. The buildings managers tried to stop me from putting the dish on the balcony but I prevailed with the law on my side. But the the installer shows up with genetic DirecTV DVRs instead of the TiVos I ordered and told me they don't have them in stock, order from SolidSignal. Then the tech looks at my HR23 used to test the system and tells me he can put in a secret code to get the TiVo interface downloaded to it and suggests I get the HR24, the latest technology box, and he'll do the same thing with that. I watched him enter a secret code on the remote and pulled a switch on the side of the receiver and it appeared to be downloading new software. Didn't have time to wait, had to get back to work, but is this legit? And will an HR 24 with TiVo software on it have any more functionality than the HR23 or the TiVo-branded box?
Again I apologize if these issues are already known.
I've been told that Slingbox have been doing for years what Tivo-Stream is now doing.
Question for Slingbox users... is it possible to "download" to iphone same way as Tivo-Stream is offering now?
I have a home that has numerous coaxial jacks throughout. They aren't be used with my TiVos at all (lines installed on outside of house are being used for TiVo). However, there are splitters on some of these unused inside coaxial lines. One line from outside feeds 2-3 rooms/jacks (depending on line) inside the house.
I would like to maybe use these coaxial jacks for networking purposes (for future TiVo and/or other PC needs). Could I possibly use a MoCA kit of some kind over these coaxial lines even though they have splitters on them?
I'm looking at increasing the capacity of my Premiere, which is now three months old. I've read through the various posts about upgrading the disk, and it looks like it's fairly simple to do. I liked the upside on that option that you end up with a backup TiVo disk. I've also been looking for info on using the WD Expander, but there isn't so much info on that.
Does anyone know what the advantage/disadvantage is to each solution? The cost is going to be about the same for a new drive or the Expander through Amazon.
Anyone any thoughts on the reliability/noise of the expander unit?
