I have an old style tv (with the huge back) AT&T u-verse and a philips series 1 with lifetime. I am looking into getting a Roku box because I have Amazon prime and would be able to stream the videos. My question is, doe sanyone know if the roku box will work with the above mentioned electronics?
OK this is a strange one that I haven't seen in my almost 4 years of Tivo HD use - the Nationwide race on ESPN2 last night didn't record because Tivo said that 'the channel was not authorized, I didn't pay for the event, or it was not available in my area'.
ESPN2 works fine of course, I just tuned it again with no problem. I can only surmise that somehow a PPV flag was set on the broadcast by mistake by Comcast or someone else, or somehow my Cablecard auth got messed up even though everything else recorded fine last night (Fringe and other shows). It certainly wasn't blacked out and I've never had a problem with any race recording before. Anyone else seen this? I'm on Comcast in the ATL.
I will be changing cable companies soon due to moving to a different town. How will that affect my season passes? Will I have to reinput all of them or will they just change to the new channels?
So usually between critical reception, genre, and the opinions of other people who like the same basic stuff you do, you can usually get a pretty good idea if you'll like a show before watching it. But sometimes everything says you should just love a show...and instead your reaction is meh at best.
For me the two in recent history that really stand out are Lost and Torchwood. Lost is the kind of thing that is usually totally up my ally, fantastical, weird, great critical and audience favorite, and a good budget to go with it. Yet once I started watching it I really didn't think it was very good. Flat characters and bad writing, which I could overlook if the plot hooked me at all, but unfortunately even that seemed pretty boring. I watched the first season, and part of the second before giving up. My wife watched a couple of more before deciding she really didn't care about what was going on.
Torchwood is another one that I thought I should really like. My wife and I both watch a fair amount of British shows, and nerds everywhere seem obsessed with Torchwood and Dr. Who, which is generally a pretty great sign. But I find that I just can't get into the show. The mix of drama and humor seems kind of tone deaf, and even though the characters should be really interesting I find that I don't really care about them.
So how about you. What shows should you by all rights love, but just can't get into (or actively hate)?
Is this the first time we've learned that Emily owns half of Nolan's business? That helps me understand a bit more deeply why he is so nice to her.
I thought the whole idea of Nolan buying Jack's dad's house as part of wiping out a neighborhood to build his huge estate was interesting.
When I saw John Billingsley I figured he wouldn't be around for long... Nobody seems too interested in hiring that guy for more than one episode of their show.
I am about to purchase a Tivo Premiere.
Is the lifetime price different when ordering the box online vs. going to Best Buy?
I saw $399 ordering direct from Tivo. However, I would prefer ordering at Best Buy so I won't have to wait. Best Buy site says 1st lifetime is $499 with second premiere at $399.
I currently have a Series3 with lifetime (which I intend to remove when purchasing this new Premiere) and then have a second box which is a premiere on the account and I am paying $6.95 per month.
So instead of one S3 (lifetime) and a second Premiere($6.95 month), my goal is to have 2 premiere's.
However, I would like to purchase this new premiere with lifetime while keeping my $6.95 price for the second premiere.
Please let me know how I should go about to get the best pricing. Thanks.
I haven't seen this metioned anywhere else and I guess this is to serve more as a warning.
The local Comcast recently converted to all digital channels. The fact that I lost the ability to use the 2nd tuner in my Series 2 was bad enough, but when I started to experience errors when changing channels, I figured it was time to get rid of my Motorola DCT2000 box.
I took it back to Comcast and they replaced it with a Pace unit. The unit they gave me was sitting on a shelf without a box. The channels change just fine with the IR drivers, but, since I installed the new cable box, everything recorded on the TIVO shows up as protected. There is nothing in the users guide I found online that talks about this.
My S2ST is connected with the Comcast DCA and does not have this problem. The other forums indicate the S2DT does not support the cable box attached through coax. My attempts to connect with the DCA support this.
Unless anyone has any suggestions, I am stuck.
I know this wasn't the best show, nor did it have a whole lot of people watching it, but I enjoyed it, but I absolutely despised the ending. They obviously didn't know whether or not they were going to be renewed at the time of filming but they didn't have to leave everyone in such a crappy place.
Just not a fan of cliff hanger type of endings for shows that aren't close to getting another season even though they probably would have been able to reset things back to normal in an episode or two.
Good episode. If I remember the books correctly, Walter Sherman could be a deadly dangerous man. Good to finally see that in the goofball TV Walter.
So, it looks like Jane has finally gone off the rails.
But I don't buy it. I think he is up to something. Somehow he is trying to find or lure Red John. I just don't know how.
I think there still must be someone associated with RJ in the CBI. The assassin/kidnapper from last season went into Bertram's room, but she had rope and O'Laughlin's room was right below (too bad they didn't space the rooms out some more, doh!).
But RJ somehow knew about the meeting at the Mall foodcourt, at least he knew enough to get the imposter to go there and be seen by Jane. I don't think O'Laughlin knew about the Mall meeting. I think the only people who knew about it were Lisbon's team, Jane, and Bertram. Bertram didn't know the location until Jane took him there, but I suppose he could have set things up to have the imposter follow him there.
Anyway, my best guess is that Jane is trying to catch someone in the CBI. Maybe he thinks the new boss is a RJ associate and that is why he provoked him.
I have tivo premier with rcn. I also subscribe to netflix and hulu plus on my laptop and want to have the apps on my tivo box as i have seen is available on non rcn tivo prem boxes. is there any software I can download? Its kinda frustrating they limit what you can see on it.
Wow. Any way to edit the thread title? Hit return too quick.
At any rate, I ran a quick search here and found no information on a website I've started using for finding streaming TV shows and movies on Amazon and Netflix.
There's plenty of search options, including HD and 5.1 content, which falls right in line with our recent TiVo update.
No affiliation, by the way. Just discovered when searching for Netflix 1080p content.
TV and Movies NOW Beta
Anyone one having MRS Issues?
Several times while streaming now i have a new error pop up saying there was a problem streaming the program and to Try again. I click try again, it resumes for a good amount of time and the error pops up again...
have never really had MRS issues
I wonder if what John Noble meant by filming two endings (which the producers denied) was that they could have just lopped off the last little bit if the show wasn't coming back?
Because without that last little bit, it would have been a very good series finale.
New location for filming of season two among other tidbits here
. Minor spoilers...
Received the new software update today and applied it.
Whenever I try to load Netflix, I get an error that reads:
"An expected error has occurred, either the Netflix service is inaccessible, or there was a network error. Please try accessing Netflix again. If you are still having trouble, go to www.tivo.com/support
I've tried re-accessing it, rebooting the TiVo...same result every time. The error message appears to be rendered in what looks like the OLD Netflix interface, interestingly.
Anybody else having this?
I have a TIVO HD that is grandfathered at the $6.95 rate and transferrable to the new owner. I just confirmed with the TIVO rep. Anyway, if anyone wants it, drop me a PM with an offer.
I know nothing of motorcycles but this was fascinating!
I can't believe that blonde "old lady" just whacked that photog over the head with a bottle! She's trouble!
Looks like the club is in for some big changes with the new youngbloods.
I just got the software update and found that my suggestion was implemented to fix a pet peeve I had with the Series4: Turning on the real time and elapsed time counters (select - play - select - 9 - select) resulted in a display in tiny print in the very center of the screen. I mentioned this glitch back in March to one of the CS supervisors who happens to sit on the software update committee and he said he would bring it up in their next session. The problem undoubtedly had to do with writing the appropriate code for the HD displays so that the type size and location would display properly in this format.
If my experience is typical, you still have to select the SD display format in order be able to enter the code to turn on the real time and elapsed time displays. But now, once you've turned them on, you can go back and reselect the HD display and VOILA! you've got a usable time display in the top right corner of your screen.
I preferred the old location at the bottom right. But I won't quibble. I'm just happy to have my temporal reminders back! Thank you, TiVo, for listening :)
