Setup my new Premiere XL4 over two weeks ago, and I still have missing shows in the guide. Not missing channels, but just what seem to be random shows each hour. Therefore I'm not getting half my season passes. TiVo Techs have no idea what could be happening. Anybody else experiencing this?
Since the upgrade to 6.4, from the Now Playing List, when I press SELECT, TiVo goes back to the Now Playing List, NOT to the Program information.
Am I missing a setting? Or is there a fix for this?
I have a TIVO HD running for 3+ years, with a comcast (motorola) mutli stream cable card. It has been great running all this time with no issues.
I noticed a few days ago that channel 824 (FX HD) is not working (black screen). Channel 823 and 825 are fine. It seems to be only this channel.
This channel is fine on the comcast cable box in another room.
I did a chat online with comcast and they "resent" the signal, but it did not fix the issue.
Any ideas what can fix this issue?
How It's Made has new episodes starting 2100 hours Eastern, Thursday 5 May on the Science Channel. My SP isn't picking it up. Just giving a heads-up.
I have a 12.95 premiere, about to come up on 1 year commitment on 5/2. I am also moving and will not have the TiVo out of storage for a few months, so I want to cancel. Cable cutoff is 5/9.
1. When is the earliest I can call to cancel? Can I do it now such that I won't autorenew on 5/2 and pay for the month I'll only be using a week of? What will my premiere do for that week if I do so?
2. If/when I resume, will I still get the 12.95 rate?
I have an SD Tivo S2 connected to a Fios cable box. We don't use it often (we mainly use our Tivo HD) but keep it b/c it's a lifetime subscription and provides a second option when someone's watching the main one.
The problem is that the Fios box goes to sleep with such maddening frequency that the Tivo's almost useless. Instead of recording programs it records a black screen. I thought I'd solved then problem when I found a screensaver setting and disabled it, but that doesn't seem to prevent sleep.
It's possible that this is a defect in the Fios box, and this might be a better question on a Fios forum, but I thought some of you might similarly be using a Fios box and have a trick/workaround for keeping the box "on". Does anyone know what exactly the trigger for keeping it awake is? If I program daily recordings on different channels throughout the day will the Tivo changing channels on the box keep it from sleeping? The box is centralized in an AV closet in the basement, so it's not possible to easily observe when it clicks off and turn it back on.
Thanks for any insights as always!
Sorry if I missed the threads for the last couple, but I just watched "Trilogy Time" and had to share my excitement that they have an end game for the "When are we going to meet the mother?!" whiners. :) I love the flashback episodes, too, and this was a classic. These flashes of occasional brilliance are why I'm still watching.
"Now We're Even" was pretty great too. "The Night We..." and Lily's Ranjit sex dream were both hilarious.
For kicks, I'm trying to create a clean 6.4a image for my Series 2 Directivo.
I successfully imaged 64small.mfs onto an 8gb flash drive.
I then transferred the file named "4a-01-2-321.slices.tgz" obtained from the dvrupgrade site onto the flash drive in a directory on the active partition (sda4) called /var/packages. I used tar to extract that file and ended up with the following files in the /var/packages directory: GZCore-1270044-2.slice.gz; GZhpk-Series2-127004588-2.slice.gz; GZkernel-Series2-127004586-2.slice.gz; swsystem-127006885-2.slice.gz; and utils-127004582-2.slice.gz. I gzip'd them so that I had the following slices in /var/packages: GZCore-1270044-2.slice; GZhpk-Series2-127004588-2.slice; GZkernel-Series2-127004586-2.slice; swsystem-127006885-2.slice; and utils-127004582-2.slice. One of the archives I gzip'd must have also had the file "dbload" within it because that file is now also in /var/packages.
I run into trouble trying to dbload the slices. I am accessing the flash drive while booted into Linux using the PTVUpgrade LBA8 Boot CD. After mounting the active partition of the flash drive as /tivo, I change into the directory containing the slices with this command:
I then chmod'd dbload with this command
chmod 755 dbload
I then attempted to dbload each of the slices with this command:
I received the following error message:
./dbload: /tvbin/tivosh: No such file or directory
./dbload: exec: /tvbin/tivosh: cannot execute: No such file or directory
I then tried the following command:
That resulted in the following error message:
/tivo/var/packages/dbload: /tvbin/tivosh: No such file or directory
/tivo/var/packages/dbload: exec: /tvbin/tivosh: cannot execute: No such file or directory
All the posts I've read with instructions on using dbload involve accessing bash through telnet. But since I'm doing this with a flash drive, that is not an option.
Can I dbload while booted from PTVUpgrade's LBA48 Boot CD, or does dbload need to be on that CD to work?
I love these guys -- they didn't end it on a cliffhanger with Amon reaching for Korra.
Some interesting flashbacks when Korra's stunned -- clearly adult Toph and Aaang, and the waterbender with the beard may have been Sokka.
Hi - I haven't been able to find anything on point about this, but surely I'm not the only person to experience this. A TivoHD with a WD 1TB internal drive and no other problems. Randomly, but maybe once every 30 minutes of program, there's a single 1-2 second audio dropout. It's always repeatable (i.e., if you backup, it happens again), and the video is fine. Rebooting the TiVo doesn't help, and I really don't know what else to try.
Is there perhaps some way to rebuild the disc to have it detect any new bad sectors or something? Or maybe I need to replace it? It's just getting to the verge of being annoying so I'm willing to put some effort into a sure fix.
Thanks very much!
Sigh. Every year it's the same thing. The NBA playoffs arrive, the league announces the playoff schedules, zap2it.com for my zip code shows the correct games, yet TiVo guide data simply shows generic information even after connecting umpteen times. Have to go look up the schedule and use Manual Record By Time to schedule the first few games to record like in the VCR days.
Would be nice 1 year if guide listings would actually update in a timely manner...
And of course just as I start this thread I tried 1 more net connect and the guide finally has the data about 30 minutes before the 1st game I want to record. Better late than never I guess.
Is David Robert Jones plan really to destroy both universes so he can build his own? Whatever that explanation was I (hopefully) don't buy it. Is David Robert Jones really a good guy and he was shutting the bridge down intentionally so the future somehow may be saved in 2036?
Good episode, but I really want to go Back to the Future.
I have searched old posts and I can't find what I am looking for so please excuse me for going back to the beginning. I am trying to connect to my Tivo HD using Safari on my Mac. I believe that it is possible to do this like it is possible to do this to transfer shows to a Mac. I just can't remember the steps to accomplish this. I would appreciate any help with this.
So I picked up a couple of comcast cable cards for a Series 3 (M-Cards) from the local office, used the online activation to set them up, and everything went extremely smooth, I was very surprised!
The only problem I seem to have is I'm getting a cable card error on a few HD channels that work fine on the other TiVo's. So I did a online chat and had the rep send an INIT signal but that didn't fix it.
Does anyone know what I should do, or ask comcast to do to get this fixed?
Thanks for any help.
I am going to my upgrade my Series 3 to a Premiere in our master bedroom.
We don't have network wired to the room so I have been using the old wireless adapter which gets a signal strength of 30 to 45% on average.
To get the best performance, do you think I should purchase Tivo's wireless N adapter?
I guess you can buy these things which plug into outlets for network connectivity?
Or should I go through the trouble of having a professional installer run a physical network line which likely won't be easy?
Please let me know. Thanks.
The most popular DVDS SHOW : Scrubs Seasons 1-9
Summary of Scrubs
The sitcom may be flatlining, but as long as there are fresh and original series like Scrubs, the prognosis isn't entirely negative. Created by Bill Lawrence, Scrubs is an interns'-eye view of hospital life and the torturous, tragic, and triumphant route to becoming a doctor. The eminently likeable Zach Braff heads the cast as "newbie" J.D., whose years of medical school haven't quite prepared him for chaotic Sacred Heart Hospital. Family Guy has nothing on the live-Action Scrubs when it comes to surreal asides and Fantasy sequences (for example, J.D. literally becomes the proverbial deer in the headlights when he cannot answer a medical query), pop culture references, and TV Land casting (John Ritter guest stars as J.D.'s negligent father in "My Old Man," and St. Elsewhere veterans William Daniels, Ed Begley, Jr., Stephen Furst, and Eric Laneuville appear as Legionnaire's-stricken doctors in "My Sacrifical Clam")
Recommend the following price for a comparision:
The price is $99.99 at amazon

Hope this Scrubs Seasons 1-9 can bring you a happy time.
I'm getting ready to replace a failing TiVo HD with a new Premiere. Can I just swap the Cablecard from the old one to the new one?
So a really weird thing happened today. Every now and then I log into my Tivo account to check things out and see if all is well, and today I noticed that my Elite, that I had deactivated a few weeks ago, had been put back on my account and beside it said "Free Tivo Service" under the current payment plan. So I called them to see what was going on, and the CSR said she found it strange as well and could I hold on a bit. I said sure, and she put me on hold for about 15 minutes. She came back and said that the corporate office had put it on there and just for me to enjoy it. Well its a bit hard for me to because the Elite wont work on my cable system. I've been having the problems thats been discussed a lot in this thread here:
Thats the reason I deactivated it to begin with. I've had it boxed up in the closet now for a few weeks, like I explained to her. She asked did I still have the box, and I said yes I do, I paid a lot of money for it I'm not going to just give it away, and maybe when the new software updates come out it might work in 6 months to a year, who knows. She told me to let a family member use it if I want or a friend, but most my family members just use OTA and my sister has Uverse so it wont work for her. Well I got it out of the box and hooked it to the TV in my office and did a connect to the Mothership. It loaded everything and then I checked the system info screen and where it usually says "account in good standing" it now says "free service" in its place. So I guess I'm a bit confused about why they would put service on this box I cant really use and that I had deactivated. Are they trying to get me to use it or something? I dont want to hook it up again and get yet another cable card and tuning adapter just to have the same old mess all over again, so I really dont know what to do about this. Do I need to let it keep connecting all the time to the Mothership so the free service will stay on the box? I was a bit stunned when I had her on the phone that I didnt even ask her, I just said Oh OK thanks have a nice weekend, and she started asking was I excited about the new software update thats about to come out and all that, and I was just sitting like a zombie that Tivo would put free service on a new Elite box. It's new with only about 2 weeks of use on it, this was my 3rd box.
Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? Or ever had the free service on a box? Do I need to keep it hooked up and let it connect everyday?

Hawaii 5-0 on 4/30 will cross over onto NCIS: LA on 5/01 (and vice versa) - If you only have a season pass for one or the other, you'll want to set up the opposite episode.
Just thought I'd share :)
