I have 2 Tivos:
1. Model TCD748320 (newer unit; will record two shows at once)
2. Humax Model DRT800
The Humax is hooked to my TV via A/V cables.
The newer Tivo has A/V outputs hooked into my Humax A/V inputs..
The idea is to play shows on the new unit and record them on the Humax. I could either record them normally to "Now Playing" and then move them to DVD; or, ideally, I could go straight to DVD but I don't know if that would work. Ever.
Anyway, I have no confirmation from the Humax that it is receiving any signal at all through its A/V inputs. For example, I set the TCD unit to play a WSOP episode, and checked the proper input on the TV. WSOP was playing on the TV, straight from the TCD unit. I changed the TV to the appropriate input for the Humax but could not find the WSOP episode anywhere. Not in "Now Playing", not on "Watch Live TV"- nothing.
It was exactly as though I had never hooked anything into the Humax A/v inputs.
So. Is there any way to check to see if the A/V inputs are dead?
Or. Is there anyone who can wade through the above tangled prose and tell me what I am doing wrong????
Thanks in advance....
We have a Premiere, a Series 3 OLED and two Series 2 tivos all networked. Had no issues for the first year after getting the premiere, but a few months ago the Premiere stopped showing up in the Now Playing menu of the Series 3 so we can no longer transfer shows from the Premiere to the S3. Both S2s are still showing on the S3 and functioning for MRV. There have been no changes to our setup.
However, the Premiere does not seem to be having any problems with the network. The Premiere DOES show up on both of the S2s and shows transfer. And to further confuse the matter, when thinking the Premiere and S3 are just not talking to each other . . . the S3 DOES show up on the Premiere and we can transfer shows from the S3 to the premiere. So the problem is only in one direction, and only between premiere and S3.
I have tried unchecking and rechecking them for video transfer on tivo.com, and no change. Any ideas how we can get the S3 to start seeing the premiere again? Thank you.
Looking at preordering the box and it works with a conventional Cable Box

I just got a new TiVo drive with a completely clean OS. I set 10 or 15 thumb ratings, and assigned 4 season passes.
2 days later,mTiVo started to do its thing, recording programs based on my ratings.
However, it's excluding ALL programs that actually match my favorites exactly! For example, I rated The Closer and NCIS as 2 umbs up. tiVo suggestions them recorded Rizzoli &Isles, Perception, Law & Order, and VSI. it did NOT record any Closer ormNCIS.
Then, after I added Season Passes for episodes in TiVo Suggestions, it STOPPED recording them!
Why is TIVo excluding exact matches when recording on its own?
Hey, any thoughts/opinions would be appreciated.
We are in the process of moving and will be at our new address on Tuesday of next week. We had cable come out (Cablevision/Optimum) and install our cable before so that we would be set to go on the day we moved in. Now, they installed a DVR+, which I guess is their new and standard DVR that everyone has now. I am in Brooklyn (NY) by the way.
Anyways, I have been browsing the net and have read some real HORROR stories about the Optimum DVR+. Things like... some recordings delete themselves, other things do not record, only recording portions of programs, audio/video synch issues, the box freezing a whole lot. I am really nervous about this since it doesn't seem like a small amount of people experiencing this. It sounds like MANY, although it could just be that the only people writing reviews and such are those experiencing issues.
So, I have to ask. Should I give it a go and see if the same problems happen to me or should I just go ahead buy a TIVO premiere and set that up right from the get go?
Again...any thoughts/opinions would be much appreciated.
I have my tivo premiere hooked up via a netgear wn2500rp wireless bridge to a netgear wndr3700 wireless router. The signal strength is excellent. The tivo premiere feeds into a pioner vsx-1121 receiver which then goes to my pioneer tv. The connection seems very fast- when I transfer from that tivo to my other premiere (which has a wired ethernet connection) it is very fast- 1 hour HD shows in 5-10 minutes total max.
1)But when I'm watching netflix the screen goes out (not just like its paused, but almost like the receiver is switching input modes or something- it goes completely off and the recevier flashes) and then it goes back on- takes a few seconds.
2)Also, sometimes during show streams (not transfers) to the other tivo premiere it will say the connection failed or somethign like that and I have to hit retry and it will continue.
It sounds like its overall some sort of network issue- but what? I've assigned static ip addresses and that hasn't fixed the netflix issue (haven't tested tivo to tivo streaming again)? I should run a ethernet cable to see if that fixes the tivo but with a great wireless signal what could be doing that? Also, if it was just a network issue why does the receiver flash and the tv go comletely off- almost like its changing inputs or something?
I've been an enthusiastic user of Tivo's Comcast On-Demand offering in SF area, and just noticed today that the browsing interface has been updated from a Low-Def (old UI) style to an HD new style interface.
Also while viewing a program, the progress bar is now HD style rather than SD style.
I did notice more weird error messages when entering the On Demand menus than before, so maybe this is still a work in progress.
Also noticed a glitch where sometimes when scrolling up/down a list after using page up/down commands, the scroll location resets itself back to the top of the list. Annoying when navigating some of the long lists.
But upside is you can see a lot more characters of each program and get a side-screen that shows a short description without clicking on the programs, so its a big win.
Also it seemed to me that the scrolling FFW/RRW is smoother with the new system, although the lag on commands is still about the same.
Transitioning into OnDemand still switches resolutions back down to SD and then back up to HD based on the "Please Wait" bug.
My version is reporting 188.8.131.52 and its a 4-tuner model.

**PLEASE READ** this comes directly from the Tivo support pages - We are sorry that youre giving your TiVo box a new home, but we understand situations arise when its better to place your TiVo box with new owner. We recommend you and the new owner contact TiVo Customer Support at the same time. If this is not possible, please contact us before the new owner so we can prepare the transfer for the new owner. We will need the new owners full name and email address. IMPORTANT: Do not ship or give your box away until you have unlinked all your accounts (i.e. Netflix, Pandora, etc.). I would appreciate your patience. We have always shipped quickly but this process could take a little extra time.

WHY AM I SELLING? I always get asked that and I ask the same when I'm buying something. Simply put, I lost my job and therefore am selling some of my electronics to help with the situation.
I just had an hr20-700 replaced by the new THR22-100 Tivo receiver. I used to have Tivo and I am extremely satisfied with the new receiver. The problem is (if it's even a problem) this: I am getting 95% or better on all the satellites except 99s and 103s. On these 2 satellites I get 0.
I get 95%+ on the 103ca and 103cb. I get very rare pixellation, especially on the Turner new HD channel. Is it normal to get 0 for 99s and 103s?
Has anyone else noticed that certain TV shows are setting the copyright flag preventing the TiVo from transferring the show opposed to the network flagging all their shows? Today I went to transfer some shows to my living-room TiVo and found a couple had the copyright flag set. These shows were Political Animals and Warehouse 13. I know Warehouse 13 never had the copyright flag until this new season. And Political Animals is the only USA Network show that I know of that has the flag set. Hopefully this doesn't become a common practice.
Couldn't find a thread on Oddities or Oddities San Francisco came across them a couple of weeks ago, pretty entertaining.
Not volunteering to put yourself up for eviction is the #1 rule. I think Jeffrey will be voted out for being that cocky and stupid.
The fact that Andrea was the one coming back from limbo was given away in the first minute. She was clearly shown in the house in the video clip at the start.
We've got a Premiere and a Premiere XL4 in a house with all sorts of other networked stuff: PS3, Macs, PC, iPhone, iPad, etc.
I'm a bit puzzled how to work out a useful sharing scenario. We have two Tivos because we don't watch a lot of stuff together. There's only the occasional movie or TV show; it's even a split with the Olympic sports. So we don't really need to share what we record on the Tivos; it's easier to just double record the few things in common.
And of course each has their own phone and computer, or at least separate accounts. And separate emails, separate Pandora accounts, separate YouTube/gmail accounts, etc.
So here's where I'm stumped:
The free Hulu Plus account seems to be only for one-person use, correct? I don't see a way to share one paid account without running into issues once we start watching on mobile devices. I have the Tivo.com account in my name; would I even be able to associate another Hulu Plus (or Netflix for that matter) account with a Tivo?
Second, is there a way to share media from a Mac only to a certain Tivo? We've got separate music libraries, for example, but Tivo Desktop just seems to share the current user's iTunes Library.
Third, we haven't tried this yet, but what if each of us fires up the Tivo app on an iOS device? Will it work with both Tivos as long as we each select the right one to control?
Fourth, since both Tivos have lifetime, would it have been better to have two tivo.com accounts? I suppose we'd lose the $100 discount, but would we? It might actually make things easier.
I've had a happily running THD on FiOS for years now. When we got it, there were no multi-stream cards, so we have two single-stream cards.
What's the process look like to swap out for a single M-Card? I figure if it's not difficult, might as well reclaim that $4 a month.
Obviously, they'll send someone out to do the swap, but is it as simple as pull the old cards out, pair the new one and that's it?
I want to get the new TIVO but am having trouble convincing the wife we need one. We currently have an RCA DVR 80 which is getting close to 8 years old. It is slowing down a lot. When you go to now playing it takes 1-2 min ( seemingly) to open an episode and play it.
Any ideas on how long Direct TV will be offering the new TIVO?
Only one of the 24 finalists made it through stage 2 then failed part way thru stage 3.
I wonder if Mount Madoriyama is going to be a permanent skyline landmark in Vegas? Or will they tear it down and rebuild.
