I'm thinking that the new Netflix implementation features closed captioning. I need it. How is it turned "on"?:)
I have my Comcast Xfinity cable box configured so that I can record the one channel I'm watching using my TiVo Series 2 dual tuner. This was working fine until the end of April 2012. I could watch any channel from 2 through 846 and I could watch all channels for hours without interruption.
Sometime during April 2012 Comcast changed their service in some way they won't admit to me. Prior to that date I could watch their music channels (numbered 801 thru 846) for hours on end with no problems. After that date the music channels stop working after a few hours. When this happens I have to either refresh the cable box (using the Comcast automated refresh facility), physically turn off/on the cable box, or reset the TiVo.
Am I the only one experiencing this problem? I'm not interested in purchasing a new TiVo - it's beyond my budget.
bought a maxtor diamond 21 200 mb for the tivo im using. installed it and powered it up. it went into powering up mode like it should after couple minutes the screen went blank then powering up sign came up again then blank again its like it keeps recycling. can some1 tell me whats going on and
what i need to do. some1 said i need to download tivo program to it. is this hard to do im very computer illiterate any HELP would be GRATEFUL
Every time I'm visiting tivocummunity.com from my iPad I get a popup telling me there's an iPad app for this forum.
I have a really good memory, once would be enough. Is there a way to make it stop (short of downloading an app I don't want)?
Had really hoped to see TiVo push out a app for TiVo prime video this is my second year as a prime member with no luck from TiVo, I guess looking forward to a spotify app anytime soon is a waste of hoping also
Hey, I'm new here and did a forum search but didn't find much. I was wondering if I could network multiple premiere XL boxes together to share out any recorded shows among one another? Basically just to watch recorded shows in other rooms in the house.
I thought I read on here were someone said they sent Tivo the Cable Card pairing info and Tivo called the cable company and activated the cards. Did I see that or imagine that?
Okay so I'm going to watch the entire series over again. Now that I have a full grasp on locations, houses, characters, etc I feel this might be fun. And I have some burning questions. Book readers, feel free to respond to anything that doesn't spoil beyond what's been aired. I'm sure there's backstory that HBO just couldn't get to that might help us understand some things.
Okay here's my list just from watching the pilot over.
1) I'm confused as to why Ned accepting Hand of the King meant he had to leave Cat behind? So the idea was they would just never see each other again because she was staying to be in charge of Winterfell? That's kind of crap.
2) I'm reminded of just what a bitch Cat was to and about Jon Snow. She wouldn't even allow him to eat with them all because it looked bad that the bastard be among the royalty? And the looks of disgust she gives him right in his eyes, just makes me seethe. Ugh. Hate her.
3) Gosh I had almost forgotten just how good looking Jamie is. He's been in dirt and grime this entire season. I do wonder why he and/or Cercei didn't just poison Robert the same way they did John Arryn. Clearly neither of them have anything but contempt for him.
4) Can someone clue me in again as to exactly what happened to Lyanna? I looked up on that Tower of the Hand site and this is what it says:
Lyanna was bethrothed to marry Robert Baratheon. (AGOT 5) At the tournament held at Harrenhal during the year of the false spring, Prince Rhaegar Targaryen shocked the assembled crowd when he bypassed his own wife to crown Lyanna queen of love and beauty. (AGOT 59) Not long after, he absconded with Lyanna under mysterious circumstances, one of the major causes of Robert's Rebellion. Lyanna was held at the Tower of Joy until near the end of the war when Eddard came to reclaim her. Eddard found her dying in the tower and made an unknown promise to her right before her death. She was buried in the crypts beneath Winterfell. (AGOT 5)
I'm not fully sure I get what the bolded part means. And it says he found her dying... but what from?
I also noticed a couple things that aren't questions just observations that I didn't fully pick up the first time. From the moment Cercei talks to Sansa she calls her "little dove". Also there's some serious dislike between Jamie and Ned that I didn't remember before. I also realized that Summer was pacing below when Jamie shoved Bran off the tower. You'd think the wolf would remember him and want a piece of him the moment he came down.
I'm busy buying hardware & getting educated to build a Tivo hd server (x2, 1 primary, 1 backup). I now get why RAID is good in addition to essential backup. But I really, really hate the limitation in standard RAID of same size drives in the array (or effectively same size as it will only make use of the size of the smallest drive in mixed drive array). One of the reasons I really hate this limitation is the long term expense of effectively making use of larger size drives only after either a long period of migration or a single costly replacement all at once.
So I'm looking at some sort of standard RAID alternative and SnapRAID is bubbling to the top. http://snapraid.sourceforge.net/compare.html
Looking okay to me because it's free, can mix drive sizes, uses a snapshot model, can recover data in non-failed disks, doesn't make my server into just a NAS like unRAID, etc. But I can be swayed on any of these reasons; I'm just feeling my way around and these are inchoate impressions.
For those of us who keep saying "I really need to watch this show", now's our chance!
How did a public school teacher become Public Enemy Number 1? If you haven't been keeping up with the series Time magazine calls "TV's best drama," you might not have the faintest clue. Fortunately, AMC is encoring all four seasons of Breaking Bad with multiple episodes airing late night every night starting Sun., Jun. 11. Stay up late or set your DVR to watch the entire series in order from the beginning. Witness Walter White's dramatic transformation and get ready for the new season premiering Sun., Jul. 15 at 10/9c on AMC.

I am an avid tivo owner, series 2&3,w/wireless, using external drive to write(faster than desktop) using roxio toast pro for mac/lion....happily transferring shows, for the past year, until two weeks ago, I lost my tivo transfer window, and for you who know about the toast program, it is the the bank for all shows transferred to mac from Tivo,....it will not come up, it says restore window, and when I do, it goes to error, tivo transferquit ect...I have talked to the forum in Roxio, and(tsantee) has been able to help me in past, suggested to go to library, delete plist file, which I did, and it still will not upload, I Uninstallled and re installed multiple time's, but no avail..... it was suggested that I use iTivo....can I still use the dvd recording part of the roxio program, will itivo show up in my media lineup? I read some about program, don't understand so much, where does shows, go, when transferred, do they go in a folders, that keeps them dated and labeled....like for instance, I was collecting all the law and order svu, and had banked quite a number of shows, till(not to program limit point) but so I could have them to burn to dvd in consecutive order.....(which I delete, in transfer, hard drive, and on tivo when burned to disc) ....yes, i need help, thanks in advance
OK. So I just recently purchased a second Premiere XL. My question is if I buy a lifetime subscription on one, will I get the reduced monthly fee on the second, which I believe is 12.99?
I guess I could just call Tivo and ask them.
I recently got a TiVo premiere and am enjoying it so far. I am familiar with TiVo (have an S2 & S3) so have done "season passes" with my other equipment.
Is there any way or suggestion on how to make my Premiere have a season pass to a show, but record the new episodes later in the night instead of recording them when they first air (usually 8-10pm).
I ask cause we generally wait till the next day to watch recorded material anyway, but would also like to have the dual tuner access during peak viewing times. And since networks generally run new episodes several times a night, I was hoping there was some way to get the TiVo to record them at a later time in the day (for example, after midnight).
I realize I could probably just set up a season pass on one of my other TiVos and then simply transfer/MRV it to the Premiere when ready to watch, but just wondering if this later recording request is something that can be done with a Premiere.
I have a Series 3 HD TiVo (TCD648250) with lifetime. Its giving me some reboot issues and I think its the hard drive (see other post). I haven't had time to fully replace the hard drive (with a new image). Until then, I am using a TiVo Premiere I recently purchased & had a question concerning the cable cards for this S3 unit.
I know this S3 takes two cable cards and its also possible to have just one in it that will essentially make it a single tuner DVR. However, can it maybe also have unscrambled (HD & analog) channels on the other tuner? Kind of making it a 1.5 tuner DVR in a sense. Or is this not possible & the two types of tuners can't be mixed and matched.
Ever since I received the new TiVo update I've had problems with Netflix. When I try to watch a program I usually have a perfect picture but it's running too fast (approx 1.10x speed) along with NO audio....very frustrating.
A few programs (approx 10% of my queue) play just fine.
I've tried deleting the "bad" programs than adding them again...no difference.
I'm not sure if this is a TiVo issue or a Netflix issue but the fact that it appeared immediately after the latest TiVo update makes me suspicious.
I've sent e-mail error messages to Netflix, but so far no improvement but it's only been a few hours.
Is anyone else here watching this? I thought the show looked promising, and being on USA it automatically gets a few extra points. But it felt forced. The script was trying way too hard to be cutesy and invest the viewer into an established relationship. Especially grievous was the cop shooting the dancing balloon man with no regard to what was behind it.
I'll try another episode or two, but USA may have a dud on their hands.

The Offset and Delay control the overshoot correction.
Can somebody elaborate on the difference between Offset and Delay?
I'm looking to do a healthy reduction of my overshoot correction as after a FFx3 commercial skip I'm often looking at 20+ seconds of commercials after the correction.
Is there any official email address, website, anything for third party developer contacts for TiVo? I've been looking, but turned up nothing so far. Not specifically for HME, I know that's probably something they don't promote anymore. Thanks.
We're long-time DirecTV users, and have had a THR-22 for about two weeks. It occasionally 'stutters,' like its losing the stream, but usually recovers after 5-8 seconds. Video gets pixelated and audio drops pretty much completely.
I don't think it's poor signal strength--I've not noticed any problems on our other receivers, including an HR-34.
It doesn't happen a lot, but it's enough to be fairly annoying. It seemed to happen most often at first, and I thought maybe background processes were creating contention for disk or memory. It did seem to settle down, but has been happening more frequently again.
I was planning on an antec MX- 1 or Rosewill RX-358 V2 BLK enclosure(both self powered fan cooled esata) , And a Western Digital Caviar Green WD20EARX 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive. but after looking at newegg reviews, I don't think this drive is worth it. Any suggestions??
