I currently have a TiVo + cable card that is paired with FiOS. I have a second unit on the way. To my understanding, pairing is necessary to view channels that are copy-protected, in the case of FiOS - HBO and Cinemax.
What I'd like to do if possible is pair the existing cable card to the new unit so I can get HBO. Can I just go through the whole process again or do I need to pick up a new card? I don't care about HBO on the second unit and when I do need to use this, can I just move the card to this unit without having to pair it?
What is your favorite movie?
Hard Target is my favorite movie.I love action movies so it is my hard favorite movie.I recommended everyone to watch this movie.
I have a simple yet frustrating problem with a new Tivo Premiere.
I use both Verizon FIOS and an off-the-air antenna. My thought was this way, for local channels, my family doesn't have to remember to tune to channel 502 for channel 2, or channel 505 for channel 5 -- they can just use the off the air antenna to go to channel 2.1 or channel 5.1.
So I've edited my channel list to remove the SD channels 2, 4, 5, 7, etc. and also the FIOS HD channels 502, 504, 505, etc. That way I just see 2.1, 4.1, 5.1, 5.2, etc. in the guide.
Everything is great in the guide. Only the channels I want to appear actually appear.
But then a family member decides to watch channel 7 (ABC) for example. They don't go to the guide. They don't type "7-1". They type "7".
And the TIVO dutifully goes to an SD poor picture quality channel that shouldn't be tuned.
With Dish Network, I was able to "lock out" these standard def versions of the channel. And if someone typed "7", for instance, the Dish DVR would go to channel 7-1 instead of channel 7.
Please, someone, tell me there is a similar option for Tivo so I don't go crazy with my family asking me why the picture is so bad when they tune to channel 7 standard def instead of channel 7-1 high def!
Have a weird situation going on. Recently upgraded my home network. That means I got a new wireless router, as well as a wireless bridge/range extender. I currently have two Tivo HDs. Set everything up, and everything was fine. One tivo is hardwired to the bridge. The other is wireless using the b/g adapter. Could transfer from one tivo to the other, and from computer to tivos no problem. Now, the tivos cannot see each other. THey dont show up in the Now Playing lists. Both can connect and transfer from the computer as well as both can connect to the tivo service. If I reboot both machines, they show up in the respective now playing lists, and even let me transfer between the two, but eventually they both dissappear from the now playing list. The only other time I have had something like this happen was before I got the bridge. I got one N adapter, and hooked it up to one tivo, keeping the other b/g. It would work for a bit then stop. Reboot and it would work for a bit then stop. I am by no means a network specialist, and am sure it is something very simple that I am missing, but I just cant see it. Any help?
So I'm not going to spoiler this.
TMZ is reporting that the new cohost is Michael Strahan.
Michael Strahan was picked to partner with Kelly Ripa on her morning syndicated show ... this according to staffers at ABC in New York City.
Several staffers told TMZ ... the talk in the building is that Strahan -- who played in the NFL and won a Super Bowl ring -- will be announced as the co-host.
Strahan's rep was seen outside the building on 67th and Columbus a short time ago grinning from ear to ear.
Strahan tried out for the gig in June and apparently impressed the suits.
BTW ... Strahan is 6'5" ... Kelly is 5'3". Dancing should be fun.

I don't like this. I usually watch this as my daughter and I are getting up and around and ready for the day.
And I don't care for Strahan. I mean, I like him-actually a lot, but not in this format. I get really, really tired of the flirting. But it was clear he was a front runner, Kelly clearly loves him.
I'm not all that excited.
So... I have a series 3 (almost 4 years old), and last week started to get the S03 error. Long story short, I downloaded tivo desktop, C&DE.
Today I started up all my season passes again and started transferring my shows back to tivo. Everything is working fine when I get the 86 error. It said to check the tivo server, so I did that, no change. Tried to transfer another show, and it worked! Sadly, it hasn't worked again. 86 every time. Then I rebooted, no change.
The tivo is recording from the season passes fine, but I can't record new shows, or start new transfers. Is this something I have to wait out until my current transfers end (about 20)? Or am I just screwed?
This issue has probably been dealt with here but I cant find the thread.
Im visiting relatives in MA and trying to help with their Tivo v. Comcast issue. They have 4 S2s, two single tuners and two dual tuners. The two dual tuners will not work with the Comcast equipment. They have Motorola boxes connected in front of all 4 tivos. The dual tuner tivos cant change the channel on the cable boxes. I havent spoken with anyone from Comcast yet but my relatives had a service call and were told the dual tuner tivos dont work with Comcast equipment.
Is there any kind of a work around for this issue or has Comcast Massachusetts succeeded in extorting its customers into settling for the Comcast DVR?
Thanks in advance.
I purchased a Wireless N adapter some time ago for my Tivo and have lost the cable. It seems that the adapter uses a custom cable - not a standard Micro or Mini USB. I tried to Chat with Tivo Support and they told me to call in. The support rep told me to go to Best Buy and that maybe they would have a cable there. I mentioned that I was willing to buy a cable but the rep said the best they could do was to offer a discount on a new wireless adapter (~50 dollars). Anyone have any ideas where I could find a replacement cable for my adapter?
I'm switching over from DirecTV to Comcast and am planning on getting at least 1 TiVo, possibly two. I have a couple questions:
1- If I had one TiVo and one Comcast DVR, can the two be networked together so I can watch recorded shows on either box, or do you have to have two TiVo boxes (or two from Comcast) to do that?
2- Can you use the Xfinity on demand with the TiVo boxes?
Thanks for your help!
In a conference call with reporters, EP Greg Daniels has confirmed that this will be the last season of The Office. Breaking on Twitter from Variety's Stuart Levine, NYT's Brian Stelter, and others.
When converted a file that was decrypted by kmttg, I am using videoredo. Now, I want the file to be converted to H264 (mp4) but I find the output file to be laggy with extreme pixelation. I noticed the option for "advanced options" in videoredo and I see something about quality from original file --> mp4 being set at a default of 70 percent. Should I raise that to 100 percent or something? Or is there something else I can do? Yes, I want the file size to be down considerably but not at the cost of this much lagging and pixel issues.
Is it possible to enable the old 30 second skip feature on the XL4 with the included Glo remote? I tried the old code, but it does not seem to work.
a few times now a manually entered recording was changed to the same show on a different channel and time. I record the Daily Show on Comedy Central from the HD channel not on the first but the second showing and enter these manually. When I go back and check my upcoming recordings I find, and this happens only with the Daily Show, these recordings to be changed to the non-HD channel at the first showing of the show. It's just annoying because now I have to reprogram and delete these entries.
Anyone an idea what this could be ? As I said it happens only with the Daily Show and about once every other month.
There are people on this board who are competent/experienced at resoldering busted capacitors. I am not. I have a Samsung LCD flat panel monitor that I'm pretty sure has a busted cap (If I fuss with it long enough I can get it to work until the next time I shut it off). I am wondering if there is anyone on this board in the Metro Boston area who would be willing to take a look at my monitor and replace the busted caps. I have replaced the Samsung monitor, so it isn't critical, and I"m not 100% sure what I'm going to do with it once I get it fixed. I'm considering giving it to my favorite charity, (when I was last in their office they were using a flat panel, but it was a lot smaller than this one) but I haven't contacted them to see if they can use it. I can come up with a few bucks (maybe like 75) for your time (and the caps), or we could work a deal where you give some money to my charity and keep the monitor for yourself.
So to summarize, If you:
Are in Metro Boston
Can resolder Caps
are willing to help me out
Send me a PM and we'll see if we can work something out.
I replaced a dead S3 with a refurbed S3 from TIVO.
Now, when I am using the Harmony remote in any system sub-menu,
(e.g. delete messages) my Denon amp makes clicking noises.
Scrolling through recorded programs does not cause the noises.
Anyone experienced this before?
I currently have a XL4 that I recently purchased and looking at another premier to add to my current setup. I have several older Tivos in houes already but looking at options to get on TVS with no TIVO. If you purchase a premier used on ebay or local seller that is not under contract can you hook to your network and use it to only stream movies from the XL4?
