Is anyone watching this show? It seems to be a Deadliest Catch clone which is being shown on the History channel. Recorded the first episode, but have not watched it yet.
Which is the best TiVo Help Center ?
Reminders: there's a two week break for the Olympics.
Also, Travis's show All the Right Moves starts 7/31 on Oxygen.
Quick recap from really sketchy notes -- feel free to flesh this out if you have time to do it before I come back and rewatch tomorrow.
Judges: Nigel, Mary, guest Christina Applegate.
Group number by Tyce
#1: Tiffany and George (NappyTabs)
#2: Amber and Brandon (Ray Leeper) jazz
#3: Janelle and Darean (Pasha) cha-cha
#4: Lindsay and Cole
#5: Amber and Will (Mandy Moore)
#6: Audrey and Matthew (salsa)
#7: Whitney and Cheon (Stacey Tookey)
#8: Eliana and Cyrus (Nappy Tabs)
Guest spot: Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre.
Bottom three girls: Amber, Lindsay, Eliana. Judges ask Amber and Eliana to dance. Amber is out.
Bottom three guys: George, Brandon, Darean. Judges ask Brandon and Darean to dance. Brandon is out.
I'm impressed by Applegate. She gives good notes, and she's got a great eye.
#1 -- cute
#2 -- OMG smoking hot routine.
#3 -- this cha cha is NOT GOOD. Very disappointing.
(If you can't see why, pull up Janette and Brandon's "Hush Hush" cha cha on YouTube to see the difference.)
#4 -- no notes, I forgot their routine already. Sorry, Cole fans.
#5 -- sort of fun at the time, forgettable
#6 -- this salsa is bad bad bad bad. Really surprised they didn't come to grief on the pot-stirrer and several of the other moves.
#7 -- yeah, it's Stacey Tookey, and they danced it pretty well -- however my personal favorite was
#8 -- Loved the mix of Toxic they used, with the music-box. Yeah, NappyTabs played to the strengths of the dancers they had. You got a problem with that? I don't, if they're going to get results like this.
For the solos -- I liked Eliana's solo way better than Amber's solo. Darean pulled out the fireworks, but I thought Brandon's solo was actually better constructed and more entertaining.
It really sucks that Amber and Brandon danced a fabulous number and then got cut.
The best number on the show, by far: the Alvin Ailey group number. I hope all the guys were taking notes!
And compared to the online voting for DwtS, the online voting for SYTYCD sucks.
My current favorite is Eliana. Her performance tonight was just sick. I can't see any of the other ballerinas who have been on the show before being able to put in a performance like she did tonight. Plus, she's just adorable. So she has won me over bigtime.
I haven't really settled on a favorite for the boys.
So -- your favorites?
I wanted to create a wish list for the actress Michelle Ryan. However, when I did, the TiVo wouldn't let me pick that. It seems to be insisting that I pick "Ryan Michelle Bathe".
See attached. I can't figure out how to add Michelle Ryan. I'm probably missing something, but I'd like to know. Tkx.
I had a hardware failure on one of my TiVo Premiere boxes and have received a replacement from TiVo.
I know that I need to get the CableCARD re-paired with the TiVo, so I navigated to the "Cisco CableCARD/Host ID Screen" of the CableCARD menu. When I select this option, instead of the host id being displayed, I get the message
There was a technical problem during the authorization of this device. Please
contact the retailer
I called TiVo Support, and in an unusual experience, I didn't get the best of help. Their only suggestion was that some CableCARDs don't pair well with some TiVo's, so I should get a new card and give that a try.
I tried Time Warner Austin support and was connected with their Level 3 help desk which is very knowledgeable about CableCARDs, and they indicate that there is nothing that they can do without a host id.
The only other clue I can find in all of the CableCARD menu screens is that in the 2nd page of the CP Info menu, there is a line
Refresh Satus: Invalid Host_ID
which aligns with what I would expect.
Any thoughts of any other place in the CableCARD menus where the host id is displayed?
To those who missed the crawl during tonight's episode, for the duration of Olympics coverage ( Friday July 27th - Friday August 10th), Jeopardy! in Atlanta will be on WATL.
'Prisoners of War' :
Hulu will be streaming new episodes of the ten-part "Prisoners of War" every Saturday.
Critics may well have sniffed at some of the more superficial plot elements in Homeland, for Prisoners of War
is a more realistic and emotionally sophisticated account of what it is like for former PoWs to reintegrate into their families and society.
It's far less slick, as you might expect, but also more quietly compelling
Instead of just one soldier, we follow the fortunes of two men released from a PoW camp in Lebanon after 17 years in captivity
TiVo held its first annual summer veterans luncheon at corporate headquarters in Alviso, CA yesterday to honor the contributions of their 10 TiVets; U.S. Military veterans who are completing TiVo’s first TiVo Summer Veterans Intern Program. The unique program gives recent vets a transition from military to corporate life. The TiVo Summer Veterans Program was created by a group of veteran TiVo employees in collaboration with Tom Wolzien, Lead Director on the TiVo Board of Directors and a Vietnam War veteran himself. The TiVo veterans developed the program to bridge Continue Reading
During the past few months there have been a host of new series debuting on cable. From the TNT remake of Dallas to the much ballyhooed return of, coincidentally, the king of Bally’s, Charlie Sheen, in Anger Management. I tally twenty new series in all. Of course, that total does not include every new cable series. Let me apologize upfront to some niche cable networks: you debut series more often than American Idol announces judges. For the purposes of this analysis, I’ve limited my scope to the top rated new Continue Reading
Hi, I've been working on my own program to streamline my conversion process from my TiVo to iTunes on my Mac, since there isn't a great one-stop solution that does everything I need. I've not been following things lately regarding the latest state of the art on the TiVo front, so I have a few questions about things:
- As I understand it someone was working on decoding Transport Streams from the TiVo for tivodecode, but it seems like that effort has been abandoned (when I tried that out it didn't work on the streams I tested). Is that correct? And as a related question ... is tivodecode development dead?
- Is there a description of the metadata format used by the TiVo? I know it's XML, I was wondering if someone had a description I see that there are two "chunk" files that tivodecode produces and they have different information in them. A lot of that is relatively easy to understand but I haven't really seen a reference to what it all means. For example, I gather that "episodeNumber" is really a combination of season number and the actual episode number; is that right?
- In a related note, I've seen at least one example where the TiVo knows the season and episode number of a show, but there's no corresponding episodeNumber in the metadata. Any idea where the TiVo is storing that information at? I was just interested in trying to automate as much metadata entry as I can.
Thanks for any help you can give me!
I was offered a few months ago a lifetime subscription for my Tivo HD for $99.the Tivo rep said I could purchase it at any time as he had noted the offer on my account.
I watch the HD unit very little, and have decided to deactivate it and put it in the closet, or offer it for sale.
I have a Premiere that I bought used on ebay which is grandfathered at the $12.95 rate. I will keep this one for now. It still has about 20 months warranty left in it.
Should I purchase the lifetime on the HD and try to sell it, or sell it without the lifetime? I'm not an e-bay seller, although I have bought on e-bay. I would like to get about $200 out of the unit with lifetime. It doesn't have much value without the lifetime.
Opinions or Suggestions?
Have a Series 2 TCD130 (AT&T brand TiVo) which appears to have died. No reaction whatsoever when I plug it in, so it seems like the power supply. Does anyone have one for this model for a cheap price? I've seen many go for under $20 on eBay, but just not for this model. Not willing to pay the $70 weaknees is asking given the overall value of this model tivo. But given that I have lifetime service on it, I'd be willing to try and get some more life out of it for little investment.
(In case anyone from TiVo is reading this -- I'd of course be willing to buy an XL4 if TiVo would allow me to transfer the lifetime sub.:D)
This morning the following game is on:
XXX Summer Olympics
"Women's Soccer" Olympics, Soccer, Sports Event (2012) Qualifying Round: USA vs France, Cameroon vs Brazil, Japan vs Canada. (HD)
I have my Wishlish setup like this:
Keyword: -Beach -Indoor -Futsal
Title Keywords: Soccer (United States) (US National Team) (USA)
Category: Sports: Sports Event
It's not catching this morning's game. Can someone explain why and what I have to add to get it to catch the Olympic games
I have a TiVo Series2 with lifetime service that's connected to an analog TV. The tuner in the TiVo stopped working years ago. I recently obtained a DTA from my cable provider. I want to use a DTA instead of a traditional cable box due to the much lower rental cost for the DTA.
The DTA only provides RF output. If I connect a coax cable between the DTA and the TiVo, the TiVo will not be able to tune the signal due to the bad tuner.
I would like to get an RF modulator to convert the DTA output from RF to composite. I would then connect composite audio/video cables from the RF modulator to the composite inputs on the TiVo.
However, I was wondering if anyone knows whether the input source on the TiVo can be manually selected when a DTA is set up? Or would the TiVo force me to choose the RF input when using a DTA?
I have 2 Tivos:
1. Model TCD748320 (newer unit; will record two shows at once)
2. Humax Model DRT800
The Humax is hooked to my TV via A/V cables.
The newer Tivo has A/V outputs hooked into my Humax A/V inputs..
The idea is to play shows on the new unit and record them on the Humax. I could either record them normally to "Now Playing" and then move them to DVD; or, ideally, I could go straight to DVD but I don't know if that would work. Ever.
Anyway, I have no confirmation from the Humax that it is receiving any signal at all through its A/V inputs. For example, I set the TCD unit to play a WSOP episode, and checked the proper input on the TV. WSOP was playing on the TV, straight from the TCD unit. I changed the TV to the appropriate input for the Humax but could not find the WSOP episode anywhere. Not in "Now Playing", not on "Watch Live TV"- nothing.
It was exactly as though I had never hooked anything into the Humax A/v inputs.
So. Is there any way to check to see if the A/V inputs are dead?
Or. Is there anyone who can wade through the above tangled prose and tell me what I am doing wrong????
Thanks in advance....
We have a Premiere, a Series 3 OLED and two Series 2 tivos all networked. Had no issues for the first year after getting the premiere, but a few months ago the Premiere stopped showing up in the Now Playing menu of the Series 3 so we can no longer transfer shows from the Premiere to the S3. Both S2s are still showing on the S3 and functioning for MRV. There have been no changes to our setup.
However, the Premiere does not seem to be having any problems with the network. The Premiere DOES show up on both of the S2s and shows transfer. And to further confuse the matter, when thinking the Premiere and S3 are just not talking to each other . . . the S3 DOES show up on the Premiere and we can transfer shows from the S3 to the premiere. So the problem is only in one direction, and only between premiere and S3.
I have tried unchecking and rechecking them for video transfer on tivo.com, and no change. Any ideas how we can get the S3 to start seeing the premiere again? Thank you.
Looking at preordering the box and it works with a conventional Cable Box
