Grrr! After all these years I finally got a TiVo last week (Premiere) and it's freezing up on me. I turn on the TV, and the TiVo is completely unresponsive. Nothing blinks on the front of the box when I press a remote button.
I see various threads on this. Is there a chance the box (HD) is defective? If it is, I'd like to return it to the place I bought it from for a new one while I still can. Or is this just life with a TiVo Premiere?
There's an error in the guide data for Doctor Who "The Power of Three" this Saturday where it has the first run air date as 9/22/10 instead of 9/22/12, so if you have a first run season pass, the episode won't be automatically scheduled.
I bought a premiere with a G adapter accessory.
What will it allow me to do?
Does a manual come with it ?
I recorded this show and was watching it about 90 minutes behind from the start. Was it just me or was the sound really bad when the acts were on stage? It seemed muffled to me and I had to turn the volume up to hear the words. The parts away from the stage with the interviews seemed OK and when a performer was singing out in the crowd was OK. I dont think it was my Tivo because I was able to switch to the live part and that had the same problem. I would have enjoyed the show better had the sound been up to par.
After a recent power outage, the Series 3 hung on the welcome to Tivo screen. Giving it over an hour at this screen, I powered down. Powering up the 2nd time there was no welcome screen at all this time.. After a minute or so of sporadic clicks from the HD... silence. All lights on the front panel are lit.
Assuming its the drive, what are the proper steps to doing a single drive replacement on a Series 3?
Any help would be appreciated!
Can I safely and simply swap the HDD from my current TivoHD to a different TivoHD that I buy on ebay?
The HDD that I have now is an aftermarket one.
Will it be as simple as taking the drive out of one and putting into the other? Or will there be any configuration changes that I'd have to make? (like the HDD isn't paired with the TivoHD that it is in, is it?)
With the WD 1TB expander work with the 4 tuner Premiere Elite?
With the WD 1TB expander work with the Preimere Elite?
I find the volume on the ipad, when using the stream, to be to low. I did a direct comparison to the volume when using the slingplayer, and it is lower in the tivo app.
The fact that I can't airplay the sound to my IW1 airplay speaker add even more frustrating. I was really hoping I could use my ipad w/tivo stream to have a tv in other rooms, but the volume issue makes it less than ideal.
Anyhow, anyone else have this issue? I guess this is really meant as more of a suggestion to TiVo. Have a way to pump the volume up a bit! :D
Hi - I am thinking about adding a Soundbar to my very basic setup. I have a TiVoHD connected via HDMI to my Samsung LCD TV (circa 2009). I also have a DVD player (standard not Blue Ray) connected via HDMI.
I have been reading about Soundbars and I am hoping to add one to enhance the very basic sound quality of the TV. I do not have the room for a full home theater setup, nor do I want the expense of one.
I have narrowed down my list to a few sound bars in the $200-$300 range, but it appears that I can't program the TiVo remote to control the volume on my leading candidate - Vizio VHT215. Basically, I went to the TiVo settings menu and under "AV" there is no listing for Vizio. Thus, it appears to me that the sound bar would not be able to be controlled by the TiVo peanut remote. All I really want to be able to just use the TiVo remote that everyone in the family is used to. I don't have a Harmony remote and if I need a second remote just for volume, I think my wife will kill me.
So a few questions - first, do people have the Vizio model and what do they think of it? Second, can the Vizio be setup with the TiVo remote - am I missing something? Finally, any other recommendation on Soundbars to fulfill my requirements above?
The Voice announced that next spring Christina Aquilera and Cee Lo are both taking a hiatus - Aquilera is going on tour and Cee Lo is working on a sitcom.
Their replacements for the spring?
Shakira and Usher.
I found it a great and interesting idea that a singing competition show would swap out judges - especially as these things go global and new judges are added all the time for the series in other countries (the UK and Australia). I haven't been able to find if Shakira or Usher have been judges anywhere else on the show...
im glad we finally know who the 2nd A is but this is getting really lame. they should have ended it with mona being A. i admit that when i found out mona was A, i wanted to go back like in the 6th sense and rewatch it all but i never would do that.
finding out about toby is a bit satisfying, but to have yet another A out there..just is a bit too much for me. i wish there was a site, maybe there is, that points out the inconsistencies if there are any..like someone being someplace yet A somehow doing something.
i saw hanna on a Punkd in the past year and she really did get too skinny...but it was interesting to see her in something not on the show.
i did enjoy the twist of mister fitz and the family dysfunction. mom played her part to the T.
i cannot believe the school/media etc isnt more up in arms about jenna faking the blindness, i always thought they should throw a chair at her or something to see if she flinches. or maybe she did keep her eyes closed to make it real?
My Premier does not see Tivo Desktop 2.8.3 but my HD and Series 2 does. At the Tivo Desktop I can see all three Tivo's and it worked until about two weeks ago and I have restarted the Tivo and PC also and the same thing.
I am using Elan G system controller and was looking for instructions on controlling the Premiere 4XL DVR's by ethernet. Is there a way to make this work with these DVR's
I sold a lifetime tivo on craigslist a while back and just logged into my online account and it is still there. I can see their season passes, to do lists etc. I called tivo to have it removed and was told that only the new owner could do that by creating an account. I have no way to contact them. I suppose I could call tivo and create a new account with bogus info, or start messing with the season passes etc hoping the new owner will call tivo. Anybody have any luck getting tivo to remove a dvr in a similar situation or have a suggestion?
Today was the first day I tried to watch downloaded shows on iOS devices outside the home. Every 5 minutes or so, the video would drop, the word "Reconnecting" would appear in the middle of the screen, and my iPhone would then go back to the My Shows tab. Anyone else having this problem?
One of the stations in the Chicago market broadcasts on a different frequency than the TiVo expects. If I try to use the market-defined channel in my channel list, I get guide data but no programming. If I used the scanned version on the right frequency, I get programming but no guide information.
Is there anyway for me to fix this on the TiVo or will a new lineup have to be worked by TiVo and sent out as some sort of update?
So far, I like. Not only did the show keep my attention, but the doctor is hawt!
Hi all... I got my Stream last Friday and I am loving it for use of the iPad as a second screen in the home gym, on Sunday I had the Eagles game on the iPad and the Phillies game on the big screen... though with the results of those two games, it would have been better the other way around.
Anyway... I've noticed something interesting happening when streaming content... either already recorded or "live" streaming.
When commercials are being run on a cable channel (my example is Iron Chef America on Food Network), there are some commercials that are national and transmitted with the programming and some that are inserted locally by the cable company.
The local commercials almost always are coming up with grayed out picture, severe pixelation or total garbage on the screen of the iPad... audio continues without interruption and is fine in the background. Once the national signal takes back over the picture returns with no problems... whether it is another national advertisement or the program returning from the commercial break.
These locally inserted ads are the same sort of ones that used to cause a problem for VideoReDo's processing (though VRD was fixed at least two years ago from my recollection and handles these fine now).
I don't really mind it that much... since it is limited to commercials, but was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.
I have FiOS as my video provider... in the Philadelphia market.
