This seems to have started only recently. In My Shows on my Elite it does not show see my computer unless I reboot the tivo, then it's there. Everything is "hardwired" via ethernet cables to a router.
Any thoughts? Thanks.
So I recently changed my email, so I go to tivo.com and update my email to the new one. Yet, all of my tivo alerts are still going to my old address. Is there somewhere else I need to update my email?
Anyone still watching? I think the episode was interesting in both how the little kid is growing up and being pretty smart and brave and the glowing spikes on the other son. The daughter thing was sort of a waste of time.
I've only watched the first two eps of this four-part BBC mini-series but so far it's superb. It's a crime drama about three employees who plan and execute a heist at the security depot where they work. It starts with the heist itself - which is thrilling, brutal, terrifying - and then goes back and forth in time to show how it all came about and how it all turns out. Steven Mackintosh gives a great performance as the manager of the depot; a quiet, reserved man who isn't quite as mousy as he first appears.
I think discussions of this show might have to be bifurcated into discussing the characters and the relationships on one hand, and the "News" and the "Politics" on the other.
I'm starting to have problems with both.
The news/politics scenes are written as if someone went to Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly, and asked them to write an SNL style sketch of what they think the "lamestream" media is. It's extremely left wing and partisan, but yet totally unaware that it is, or at least is trying to deny that it is.
At least in the West Wing they admitted that this is a liberal Democratic president and were proud of it.
Here, their complete unawareness is entering self-parody, even if they pretend that Will McEvoy is a Republican.
The characters - well, they're just Sorkinisms too. Why is Macenzie so obsessed about having to tell everyone that Will is a nice guy? Who gives a crap?
I'll stick with it for a while though.
C'mon...This is getting old. YEARS now. The F'ing Tivo loses the ability to receive remote commands and after about 10 minutes it reboots. GIVE ME A BREAK. Software is not that hard for God's sake. F'ing fix it Tivo!!!!!!
The other thread was marked no spoilers, so I created this one.
When the previews showed an aircraft carrier I thought it might be the Hornet, it's just across the bay from Alcatraz that was in episode 1.
Unfortunately episode 2 didn't improve on episode one. It at least it doesn't look like the getting caught by guards is guaranteed. As these people didn't see the first episode they are either sneakier than the players from the previous episode or the guards were told to back off some. The whole thing seems to take place over an hour or two, one stressful morning, but not the drama they seem to try to hype.
What was most disappointing is how little was mentioned about the Hornet. It's the ship that recovered the Apollo 11 crew. We even saw the Airstream isolation trailer on the flight deck and all the people just ran past it without taking notice.
I have a 6 month old Tivo Premier and I have an intermittent problem - When I first turn on the TV, I can't rewind. It's like the Tivo went to sleep, and when I turn on the TV it wakes up. But it's not just when the TV has been off for a long time.
Just this afternoon we were watching the Olympic trials. We stepped out of the house for a bit, so we hit record, then turned off the TV. When we got back and turned on the TV 20 minutes later, we couldn't rewind, and the missing time wasn't recorded either! The "recording info" said 40 minutes, but there was only 18 minutes recorded and we could see the splice from the point where we turned off the TV to when we turned it back on later. WTH?
We've had a number of other problems with Tivo randomly just not recording the shows it's programmed to get, and the only time it happens is when the TV is off. Really frustrating, when that's the only reason we have it! Does anyone have any ideas?
Is the Channel 1 for Comcast On Demand support to work or Show Up?? It says searching for signal when I tune to 1.
I have the On Demand functionality via Tivo Menus OK.
Anyone been watching?
Looks like Phelps is going to have some serious competition in the pool this summer.
Gymnast Danell Leyva on the high bar. Spectacular!
Sad to see Nastia Liukin looking like she's past her prime already.
More and more shows are releasing full length episodes on YouTube which is great but I find it extraordinarily difficult to find and then play these using the standard Tivo search function and the peanut. It's literally not worth the amount of work involved. Am I missing something or is searching with the letter selector and the peanut really the only way to go?
I have 120+ episodes of the same show configured to never delete and I want them all gone. Is there a way to nuke the entire show in one shot?
I read some other threads, so I am hoping I don't have a issue. I am trying to clear and delete Tivo HD and the message says this make take an hour. After 3 hours I powered off and back on and it is still deleting? Normal?
I'd like to be able to just right click on a file in the Windows explorer and send to the TiVo. I have PyTivo setup and it works great, and has for several years.
I know we have some Queen / AI / Adam Lambert fans here so I wanted to share this youtube of their entire concert in Kiev last night before today's Euro 2012's grand finale football match (0 0 at this moment). These full concert youtube future DVD promo videos tend not to stay up long so if interested check it out soon.
Since about June 18, almost EVERY show I record on any of my 3 Tivos will not copy to another tivo, they all have the red circle with the diagonal line... which I think means the show is copy protected. What gives? This is true even for shows that before June 18 were NOT copy protected and I could copy (such as Lois & Clark on Hub). Is something broken in the latest Tivo service release? Is this a bug? I think this really limits the usefulness of my Tivos! I've tried restarting all three Tivos... no change.
I've got a TiVo Premiere with Fios CableCard installed. It was offline for several days due to me moving. I finally got it back on, but all channels were blank. Tried redoing Guided Setup, which populated the guide. However, there's lots of programming gaps. For example, a channel may go from a 1-hr show ending at 1pm, with the very next Guide listing at 5pm. No info (or entry) for any of the shows in that 4 hr gap. Any ideas? Thanks!
Okay, so I got a Premiere earlier today, got it all setup, and its pretty much downloaded all of the guide data.
I've been racking my brain and searching the forums for an answer, but I cannot, at all, set up Season Passes for ANY show. I'm using HD Menus, have tried connecting to Tivo many times, have tried creating them online and on the iPhone app, absolutely nothing works.
I have narrowed it down to it not showing upcoming recordings. For example, on one of my local channels, Psych is playing for the next 10 hours. I can SEE it on the guide. But when I go into the show details, it says nothing is upcoming in the next 14 days. It's wrong.
What am I doing wrong? Every thread I have found never gives a solution, just discussions and people reporting they fixed it without saying how.
Any ideas? I read to wait a day for all the data to pop up, but looking into the guide future, it's all downloaded, so that doesn't make any sense, either.
EDIT: Tried SD menus, and it allows me to create SP and see upcoming showings. Obviously I can now use this as a work around, but why must I? Does this make any sense to anyone else? Thanks again ;)
I recently had to get a warranty-replacement Premier (basic) TIVO because the hard drive died in the old one. Of course there was a cablecard in it which had to be changed over.
XFINITY, nee Comcast, tells me that they are unable to pair my (multistream M-Card) from my previous Premier with my new Premier because Comcast does not recognize the Host ID number of the new TIVO: 0-350-130-090-342
Dear G_d, what next?
The teledroid on the phone says that I will have to take my TIVO unit into the Comcast Service center (stand in line for 30 minutes) and then have them "scan the box into their system" and then call back and go through this process (of pairing the cablecard) once again.
Has anyone else with a brand-new Premiere had this problem in being unable to pair their cablecard? Is it just me? Do I have a black cloud over my head? Every interaction I'm required to have with Comcast seems to result in a negative experience.
Background: Had DirectTV with Tivo SAT-T60 from ~2001 to May 2012. LOVED IT. Had lifetime TIVO which was good, but also golden handcuffs
Went to FIOS May 2012 because of lack of DirectTV support for my box.
Appears my choices are Premiere XL versus XL 4 ?
I have a STB that is free for me to keep forever as I want, and a FIOS DVR that I am eager to return (they said it would be free for three months, but then changed their minds)
I keep stopping by on my way home to make sure that the new boxes have all the features I loved in my old series 1 box (not sure if some features were DirectTV versus TIVO since they were combined). So far it all seems good.
We only have one TV (and are okay with that). It is in a location that does not have phone or ethernet access. I could run an ethernet cat 5/6 cable if i need to.
Q1: the stb and dvr seem to have FIOS specific features such as PPV, Games, media manager, record remotely (from office, friends house, iphone), homecontrol, widgets. Does the Tivo have these? Would I use the STB in parallel with the Tivo to have these? Do I even care if I have these?
Q2: It seems if I get the XL4, then I just plug the coax with the TV channels and MOCA ethernet into the box so that I don't need to plug in the CAT 5/6 RJ45 connector in at all. Is that right? Thus, that would save me from buying the MOCA adapter or running more cable?
Q3: The XL4 on the Tivo site warns me that I won't be able to record over the air. That does not seem to be an issue now, but if I lost the FIOS, then it would be....??
Q4: The Tivo site also warns that the box will only accept digital channels. I am guessing that is all FIOS does, so not an issues, but...??
Q5: Any general advice on which box to get....We tried liking the DVR, but it seems to just not be as much fun as the old TIVO we had. I don't want to spend money on the box, but.....
