After an afternoon of grilling, we’ve got two great ways for you to sit back, relax, and celebrate Independence Day with TiVo. First, queue up an amazing fireworks display right in your living room! We’ve searched through dozens of videos and found a fireworks display for your viewing pleasure. To watch, keep an eye out and visit the fireworks call-out in the TiVo menus. Then, spend some time pondering America’s history with the TiVo 4th of July Collection. We’ve got everything covered from documentaries and presidential biopics to classic movies Continue Reading
Since the end of April I have nothing but problems with my network and MRV. I have 9 TiVos up and running and see the message Multi Room Viewing not available due to a network problem. Some TiVos see the other 8 TiVos and some get the network message. I have called TiVo many times and they still don't seem to understand the problem. They had me switch to static IPs and that worked for a little bit, but now not again. i can go and change all the static IPs and the whole network will work, till the next day, then it gets all screwed up again. The last call TiVo switched my 9 TiVos to a new account, but that didn't help either. I have a Verizon router, which has worked great from Oct 11 to April.
if i download a program from the web then upload it on the premiere, will tivo know that i watched it and count it with the ratings?
and what if it's not 'named' correctly. for instance if by some reason CSI is misspelled CIS, will they know it's CSI because of some underlying code etc.
I am still going over some stuff in my head. One thing that stuck out...Allison was not a whiney bitch this episode, she was actually cool, calm and figured some things out.
First time post here for help. *I spent 6 hours last night trying to set up
my Premiere XL4 box with a Comcast Cablecard. *After 3 calls to Comcast and
1 call to the TiVo CSD line (who were very helpful, but when we tried to 3
way call with Comcast, the call volume was too high and had to disconnect).
The frist call to Comcast was to activate/pair the Cablecard. *I provided
them the info they needed from the Cablecard screen and we double checked
it. *They said they activated the card and it would take 45 minutes to an
hour for the channels to show up. *After an hour, there were no channels,
so I called back. *Before I called back I found the screen that showed CON:
Y, which from what I can tell says the Cablecard was activated, but there
appears to be no signal coming through, even though one of the screen shows
messages being received.
For my second call, they did say the card is showing as active and thought
it might be a hardware issue (I did and do not think this was the issue,
but just something they said because she did not know what the problem
was). *I had another Cablecard, so I swapped the cards and provided her
with all the same info, which we double checked and she said the card was
active and would take 45 minutes to an hour. *After an hour, there were
still no channels.
I then called TiVo support. *The man I spoke to was very helpful, checked a
bunch of screens with me and saw the card was active and messages were
being received, but felt there was an issue with the signal, which is what
I felt was wrong too. *This is when we tried to call Comcast support via a
3-Way call, but the wait was too long.
I then called Comcast a third time, I wanted to let them know I spoke to
TiVo and it did not appear to be a hardware issue, so they sent the signal
again, which did not work and have no scheduled for a Tech to come out in a
Has anyone seen anything like this? *I would really like to get this set up
without a tech coming out as the first open appointment is three days from
now. *I do see that on the TV screen is a message that says "Please
Wait....Updating Channel Information", but this never progresses past 50%,
it just does not appear to be downloading the Comcast Channels.
I was going to call TiVo again when I get home from work, but figured I
would post a message first to see if anyone had any ideas I could try when
I get home before calling the support line again.
Thanks in advance,
Apparently the reason DirecTV was a "no show" is because there was no TiVo DVR in the local warehouse. How sad. The appointment was scheduled a full month ago! I wasn't told the installer(s) was/were not coming out until the "window" of installation arrived. How pathetic (and unprofessional) :mad:is that???
I have a Humax DRT800/with Tivo Series 2 capabilities that I got from goodwill. A few days ago, I wanted to change the input type from cable to satellite so I could use it with my DirecTV box. So, as I read on the internet I needed to redo a guided setup and little to my knowledge, I would need a dial up connection for it. So I've spent the day attempting to get past the guided setup using PPP over serial on an old linux laptop I have. I made a TiVO serial cable using an old speaker cable and arduino (with RESET pin grounded) and that seems to be working fine. (I get garbage when I cat the Arduino's dev file while trying to do the call.) I have the dial prefix as ,#211 and every time I have tried I get the error: service not answering

and this is the script I am using to start it all:

Can anybody tell me what the issue is?
Also should pppd be configured in the sabe IP range as my linksys router (192.168.1.xxx) or should it be in a different IP range?
Hi Friendly Tivors:
I have a series 2 tivo (I think) with V1.3 software. I have access to the BASH prompt via the serial port.
Is there a way I can type a command at the BASH prompt to set the channel, then start and stop a recording?
I tried to install TivoWEB with no luck. Somehow I hosed the system and had to do a restore. I'd rather not do that again.
Maybe there are routines that come with TivoWEB I can use to initiate a recording? Or perhaps some other "outside the box" method?
Thanks for your help, Mark.
I have a Premiere Series4 with 18.104.22.168-01-2-746.
Lately, I have been experiencing audio drop out, stuttering audio and choppy video. No pattern of occurance.
Sometimes, rewinding seems to help, but not for long.
To explain more: When I experience the audio drop or choppy video, I can rewind and restart playback and the problem does not present in the same location of the playback.
The only solution to the stuttering audio is to wait or restart the box.
This happens both when playing back recorded content or watching live content.
Any help will be appreciated.
Glad no-strategy guy is gone. I really hope the Crazy woman(Robin?) comes back from limbo.
I'm pro-gay marriage but I resent Jeffrey wanting to make America's vote on a mindless, purely for entertainment, reality show into a referendum on a political/social/religious issue.
I'm glad to see Nancy and the crew back for one last season. As much as I have grown to hate this show, I wouldn't have wanted to end the way season 7 ended.
I am rather surprised about Nancy's shooter. I certainly didn't see that coming. The kid only had like two or three scenes way back in season 1 or 2. It's too bad he failed. I kinda liked comatose Nancy. The only thing that would have made it better is her sister being in a coma with her.
The vagina weight had me laughing. :D
It was a pleasant surprise that they brought back the Little Boxes theme song. I missed it.
All of a sudden, since a server re-location with TW last week, I can't multi-room most programs, just get the prohibited symbol. Even SD stuff, not just HD. Is it me and my setup, or is this a shift from TW/Tivo?
I did a search for this issue, and did not quite find the answer I was looking for. I have a TiVo Premiere (1+ years old) that has pixelation issues, but mainly on major networks (mostly nbc). For sample we see the pixelation a lot during America's Got Talent. I thought it was a seasonal thing, since I remember having pixelation during previous seasons of AGT. Now we are starting to see the pixelation on other networks (USA, Bravo).
What are the chances this is cable provider? If it is the TiVo, does anyone have any suggestions?
What the heck? This is the weirdest thing ever -
Last night (Sun-7/1) this happened on BOTH of my Premieres...
Unit #1 was recording two shows at the same time, at 6pm. Both were one hour shows. During that hour I saw both red lights on for the hour.
Shortly thereafter I decided to watch one of those shows so imagine my surprise when I clicked in and saw that there was only 9 minutes recorded (just on one of them - the other 6-7pm show was fine). Ok, so weird - luckily it was a cable show so I found another airing to schedule.
Well, imagine my profound shock when I saw that a one hour show that recorded on Unit #2 (on a separate tv in another room) at 6pm that night ALSO only had 9 minutes.
I just don't get it and I hope this doesn't become a habit! What was particularly odd was the each just had the bar on the first 9 minutes on the hour, yet the actual content that was recorded was the last 9 minutes of each show. Both had red lights lit on the front of the Tivos (indicating recordings in progress) at 6pm and, near as I saw, throughout the hour (wasn't in the bedroom that whole time, but did see it a couple of times when I was in and out of the room).
Does anybody know if this has any specific significance, as to something that needs to be done, or are my Tivos just facking with me?
I posted my series 2 Philips DSR708 problem on the lost of local channel post 6/27. I thought I start a new thread since the problem is getting weirder. Like really weird.
So the local channels were the worst for cubing and lost of audio on tuner 2. Sometimes it would flash searching for satellite on tuner 2. But it could have beeb from a storm. I have seen on a few channels the problem too. One of the worse on DirecTv channel 240. If I put it tuner 2 on channel 240 it got a weak signal and restarted over to obtain the satellite signal. So on Sunday, I need to record something. I thought I would put the good tuner on the exact channel to record. But I could not tell which one was bad. I had both tuners on the local channels. No cubing and all sounded perfect on both tuners. What was the deal? It fixed the local channels? I have to take each tuner to channel 240 and there was the bas tuner. I left the good tuner to record. I then took the bad tuner though channels 229-400. 20 channels cubed. Of the 20 I watch only 4. In June, the unit froze on again on channel 240 several times. That was about the time we put the AC on. So I cleaned the dust away from the unit. It froze one more time and has not again because I'm not going to 240 in case it freeze up. I always think the freezing that comes and goes once a year to Tivo programming or my AC. The favorite on my channel dissapeared too. Now I know that was because Tivo was working on that Tivo local channel problem. The unit temp is fine and I have 6.4a software. From May 3 until the beginning of June I did not get a download. A week later it started to cubing.
It is normal for this type of problem to heal itself?
I tried to play with the picture cables to the TV on 6/28 as suggested on the other post. That was not the issue for the problem. If the power supply is the problem would it allow the problem to come and go? Can a harddrive or tuner fix themselves? Here I was about to get the unit ready to ship to Weaknees. I guess I'll hold off. What could it be? Why not all the channels are bad on Tuner 2?
Heads up. Hearst Television's contract with Time Warner, Bright House, and Insight Cable systems has now expired.
They've extended carriage out under the current contract through July 9, but Hearst is stating that negotiations are "at an impasse" with all three systems.
If negotiations aren't complete by July 9 (and Hearst indicates that they are not ongoing at this time) Hearst stations will likely be blacked out.
Am I crazy?
Trying to lower my bills a bit. I have a premier and an S3 and I was thinking of taking RCN's deal on the 4 tuner Premier and their streaming capability with their media extenders. I'd sell my S3 (with lifetime and 1.5TB drive) and save a bit of cash.
Anybody that have RCN, especially in Boston, are the 50Mbit speeds really truly 50Mbit and do they throttle or cap?
Also can I MRV between my owned premier and their premier?
Can I upgrade the internal hard drive in the RCN premier?
I don't expect too much action here :)
So far, this is the most boring FA period I can remember. There's really only 2 big names (Parise and Suter) and neither have signed anywhere yet.
Another somewhat big name is Semin, and I wonder who will take a chance on him.
I am currently paying the $10 HD fee (and getting that credited back for 12 months), and I have lifetime TiVo service (now called Advanced Receiver).
If I upgrade to an HR34, will I be forced to also pay for MRV (Whole Home) even though I don't want it?
I'll need to be upgraded to SWM (to support the HR34). Anything else to worry about?
This seems to have started only recently. In My Shows on my Elite it does not show see my computer unless I reboot the tivo, then it's there. Everything is "hardwired" via ethernet cables to a router.
Any thoughts? Thanks.
