Now that my wife has finally learned how to use pyTiVo without my help, she ran into a problem with folders, and I can't seem to figure it out.
One of the shares has a mixture of shows and folders that contain shows, and it's always worked fine before. She created a new folder inside the share, and put new shows in it, but when we view the share on a TiVo, all the old folders are still there, but the new folder isn't. We can see it fine via Windows Explorer on the PC.
So I tried logging onto http://localhost:9032/
, and looked at the share via that screen. Again, the new folder wasn't visible. So I tried restarting pyTiVo, and that did nothing, so I tried logging off from Windows XP, logging on again, and restarting pyTiVo, and voila: The new folder is now visible on http://localhost:9032/
But it's still not visible on other TiVos in the house. So I tried going into Settings / phone and network (this was on a Series 2 TiVo) and forced it to call into the mother ship, but still the problem remains.
I can see it on http://localhost:9032/
but I can't it on the TiVo. Does anybody have any ideas on the next thing I should try?
By the way, the problem is not limited to folders... She also transferred a show straight to the share (the same share, but not to any folder inside the share), and that show also is not visible on the TiVo, but it is visible on http://localhost:9032/
I have had 2 DirectTV HD TiVos, both model THR22-100, and both have had this same problem.
From time to time, one of the tuners is unable to pause/rewind/record live TV. If you are on that tuner, you will notice no green bar indicating that anything has been recorded. If you press pause, the tuner will pause, but you are unable to resume live TV. Pressing play, fast forward, rewind, etc. all do nothing. The only way to resume watching that tuner is to hit "Live TV" to switch tuners, and then switch back.
Attempting to record any programs on that tuner will result in a blank recording that can not be played.
Starting a recording (which will fail) and then stopping the recording seems to resolve the issue. The green bar will once again start to appear from the moment you started/stopped recording, and pause/play/rewind/fast forward all work again.
I have had this same issue on 2 TiVos.
This issue happened frequently on both devices. My last DirectTV HD TiVo had to be replaced after only a few months, as many recordings contained compression artifacts and would freeze/skip.
It appears to be a software issue as it can be resolved by a series of UI steps.
Has anyone else ran into this issue, and is there a known fix?
I also have an issue where the letterbox color (also shown as the screen background color when changing channels/tuners) keeps resetting to gray every so often.
I have to say I'm really disappointed in the lack of software updates, and frequency of bugs on both of the HD TiVos I've owned.
Would be nice if these devices backed up user data (season passes, favorites, ratings, etc) to the cloud, as it is really frustrating having to start over from scratch every time a device fails and has to be replaced.
Hi All -
I just set up my new TiVo Premiere 4 box. I have Mediacom as a the cable provider.
I got the M-Card paired about 2 hours ago and I'm getting channels from 101-113 (Local DTs but not all of them) and 170-885 which are my digital packages. I'm missing essentially all of my SD channels from Channels 2 through 70.
Mediacom wants to roll a truck to my house but I'm skeptical it's a problem on my end.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated - Thanks!!!
With all the talk about rarely getting discounts, I was pleasantly surprised to see I got $50 off any Premiere, Premiere 4, or Premiere XL4 via their March Mahem Game. $10, $25 or $50 off and I got the highest dollar off amount.
I have 3 lifetime Premieres. Somehow I'm currently not paying any additional outlet fees from Comcast (used to, got on a 6 mo. promotion and the fees magically went away) or else I would be seriously looking at selling two of my Premieres and getting a Premiere 4 + Mini just to avoid the AIO fee on a rarely used projector.
If you're in the market for a Premiere, go to Tivo.com and play the game and see what dollar off you get.
Okay so I've got the adapter all set up and it works to get the MoCA signal into my bedroom through the coax wall plate already in there. Unless I put a cable splitter between the wall and the TiVo.
wall ------ TiVo
This doesn't work:
----- tuning adapter
wall ----- splitter
Yesterday I noticed the splitter I've had (that Cox gave me a year ago and said was a "good" one so I just assumed it was) was only up to 1002 mhz. So today I went and bought a new one (I would link what I got but I don't have a high enough post count to post links, but you can find it on walmart.com it is the GE Digital 2-Way Splitter Model #37623) that is up to 2.5ghz (from 5mhz). That should work with MoCA, right?
Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Is there some specific type of splitter I need to get? Stupid tuning adapter ruining my life.
Is it just my Tivo or is there some reason I can't create a Season Pass for this new program?
As soon as they spent 5 minutes on the father and son, I knew who the son would end up being (since they've been so slow to reveal who he is). Does anyone think the father is still alive? I can't think of anyone we've met that would be him... of course he might get killed next episode. :)
The "Groundhog Day" sequences were funny, but it's sad how fast Regina got bored with it. 3-4 days, tops? How did she function for 20+ years? And since they established that it was a "Groundhog Day" phenomenon, how did Henry not notice that every day repeated, that no one aged but him, ad nauseum?? I hope that gets explained.
I was seriously LOLing at the porch "kill me now" conversation. Two people who are soooo unhappy right now. :) Complete with a heart yank and replacement, and almost a "get off my lawn"! :)
We've seen how many red glowy "hearts" so far, and any dark spots? How did Cora's heart have any red at all? :) Boohiss on cheap add-on effects.
Good to see the Sheriff back, though the walkie-talkie heart was ridiculous!
As usual, I'm trying to decide how the season will end, since we have about 6 eps left. They might kill off Neal, or have him leave with the fiance. I know we have Belle stories left, so she will probably get her memory back. We saw a previously-seen character in the next week preview, so that character will be important to getting to season end, probably related to the fiance, maybe Belle. My guess for the "season finale big deal" is that magic will be extended past Storybrooke, maybe including a bigger city, courtesy of Regina.
Very much looking forward to this tonight. Carlton Cuse from Lost and a producer from Friday Night Lights are behind it.
I love Vera Farmiga in anything, (she plays Mother) so I cannot wait to see how she turns her son into a psycho.
From what I have read, this takes place in the present day, not during the time the movie was based in.
Keeps switching in and out of 1080p24hz, with accompanying black screen? I have two internet providers, 6 meg and 20 meg, and it does it with both. Constantly. I've changed to the Google DNS settings, nothing seems to work. No problem with Netflix HD content that's not 1080p24hz, and I have multiple AppleTVs and Blu Ray players that display Netflix, and everything else, just fine-- again, though, no 1080p24hz. I know I could just turn it off, but it looks so good. Same problem using both Yamaha and Onkyo receivers (with scaling turned off, I believe), but all of the TVs are Sharps, if that matters (The Sharps definitely display 1080p24hz, they even display native PAL without a converter, fyi). I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks

"Phil, we quit"
"I'm sorry to tell you that you've been eliminated from the race."
Seemed kind of an odd way to accept their decision of quitting. Even more so when the rednecks got to the mat last and found out that they weren't eliminated.
Just a thought. Originally Comcast cable cards installed in a TiVo was only one way. Now, somehow, the TiVo premiere is able to send a request to select an Xfinity VOD program. Is this request sent via the coax or might it be going through the Ethernet/Internet connection? Could this thing with the GSM errors be the result of a bad or corrupt message being sent to Xfinity VOD via the Internet? Is it possible that the problem is not on the cable tv side but on the Internet side? Does anyone know if Comcast made some Internet modification recently?
I have a new XL4 and I wanted to check out what the signal strengths are- not that there is any problem, I just wanted to see if the strengths were good or marginal. I went to the settings/channel menu and when I select channel signal strength I get a message saying that I can't get signal strength because I don't have any digital channels. Of course ALL my channels are digital.
I don't have this problem on my two tuner Premiere.
Is this some kind of bug?
I encountered this error when trying to swap a 2TB for a 1TB HDD in a "HD model 652":
backup: segfault at c ip 0804DC82 sp bfb29508 error 4 in backup[8048000+ c001]
restore failed: -:success
I'm using MFS V1.4 The drive being imaged is a 2TB taken out of a model 652 (HD). The destination HDD is a 1TB HDD which was never installed. Ythe 2TB will go in another 652 later.
I have done this before (successfully) with the same boot CD. From what I have read on this, it seems it's something that happens inside the O/S, not from a boot CD. Does the source or the destination drive have anything to do with this? Is a 2TB drive a problem here?
I have my 2-year old Premiere on a UPS, but a power surge fried the cable card and the Tivo is stuck on an endless loop ("Powering up..." screen, then reboots).
Tivo support said the hard drive was toast.
I popped the original HD back in, and after getting a replacement cable card, it is up and running again.
1) Should I just go through Western Digital and get a replacement hard drive since it's still (amazingly) under warranty (based on the serial number)?
2) What are the chances that I could "revive" the old 2TB hard drive to get any shows off of it, or even clone it to the new hard drive once it arrives?
3) If #2, then best options to accomplish that? Hook hard drive up to PC and run diagnostics on it? Spinrite? Others?
P.S. I can't think of anything absolutely essential on the hard drive that I need, so I might save myself the hassle and just put the new drive in. Just want to know my options
Friday Night Lights? That would be interesting. Movie--> TV Show --> Movie
Dead Like Me? Oh wait they got one it sucked.
Pushing Daises? Is there enough of a fan following?
After a week, this thing kicks ass. It has been great so far during hockey season as we can record our primetime shows with buffers and still watch the hockey game. Speed is dead on to what my 2 tuner was which I had no issues with the HDUI. The moca bridge has been great also as I was able to get rid of a moca adaptor
This weekends Engadget Expand panel discussion, moderated by @rjcc, with Jim Denney, Product Marketing Manager of TiVo and representatives from Boxee and Sling. IMHO, Jim does a good job of explaining the TiVo value proposition and hints at some of the things we'll see explored in TiVo's future products and services.
I read a post dated 08-26-2010 regarding adding a 512 GB SSD drive in a Tivo HD. from TexasGrillChef
Now that SSD have come down in price, I am thinking of buying an SSD and install in my Tivo Premier.
Can someone give some me some info on how to do it.
Like for example...
Do you add the SSD as an external device ??
Or installed it internally ?? If internal, how do you configured so that Tivo would boot up ???
Any other info/help will be appreciated.
