I've been downloading movies using TiVo Desktop for several years, but just recently started having issues. Basically, the movie downloads ok, but when I'm playing it using Windows Media Player, at some point it just stops and shows me that screen Play Again / Go to Library / Play previous List. So it looks like the recording has ended, but in fact it's not. And if I skip that point, it would play till real end just fine.
Now, when I'm trying to play that file in VideoReDo, at this exactly point I get this error: "Video Thread: Invalid file format from external reader".
I have several TiVo boxes and I see that behavior in all of them.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Having said that, I'm sure they'll have Whitney doing the same thing again in the future, since that's how sitcoms set up their "situations."

The episodes I enjoyed the most had nothing to do with that.

I usually stay neutral in the "Season Long" vs "Episode" Thread discussions, but is there any objection to at least starting a new season thread when it's a new season?
Remind me why John Noble doesn't have an Emmy?
As we thought, old megalomaniac Walter is starting to come to the surface, Nina (yay Nina!!!) saw it, we saw it, but more importantly Walter saw it. Noble does a great job turning it on and off with very few words, the opening the safe scene you could see "evil Walter" go away mid-shot.
We got gobs of Walter and William Bell backstory.
Peter is still not 100% getting how "observer power" works, which is nice, but Olivia has to notice soon (as should Anil). Loved the dissolving observers! I'm also still ok with this season's "quest of the week" format.
I'm not sure I can wait 3 weeks without a fix, I'll need to start rewatching some of the previous season episodes with commentaries.
Just got the 20.2.2 update and noticed that it now will use (.srt) subtitle files if they are there. Is this a new feature or have I missed it all this time? Using Tivo Desktop Pro to transfer shows.
Looks like I have a program (no idea where it came from) installed called DirectVobSub.
It's grabbing the subtitle file and transcoding it.
I realize that I probably shouldn't post this on here, since this is a Tivo discussion forum, but if you could point me in the right direction, I will be on my way and out of your hair!
I was wondering if anyone knows of any good stand alone DVR brands? My only problem with Tivo is that I cannot transfer all of my recordings to my computer. Since there is really no way around this, I've decided to see if there are any DVRs out there that do not have this restriction?
I've heard about a DVR company called Moxi, but after looking at their web page, it seems as if their devices do not connect to the computer in the same way that Tivo does. Of course, please correct me if I misunderstood.
So that does seem like a good option. I've googled stand alone DVRs and what I mostly found where DVR systems for security camera systems.
There has got to be a HD stand alone DVR out there that allows you to transfer all of your recordings to the computer. Does anyone know what the name of the brand is?
Many Thanks, and once again sorry for posting this question on there, I really don't know where else to post.
Reba is great in this as expected but I really love Lily Tomlin. I hope it gets picked up for another season. Anyone else see it?
I'm not a big fan of the kids. I could do without them but apparently every sitcom MUST have teenagers in it. It's the law.
If it needs to pause to buffer or whatever fine. But this constant resolution changing needs to stop.
I want to either increase the storage on my TIVO HD or find a way to transfer them to my computer and burn to a blue ray burner. I have two choices for increasing storage on the TIVO, add the external drive or increase the size of the internal hard drive. I dont know if a second drive can be added internally or not on a TIVO HD. The other way is to transfer the program to my computer and then find a program that will burn the show to a blue Ray burner in HD. My wife says she needs to get me something for Christmas and is willing to by either a blue Ray burner for the computer or buy an external drive for the TIVO. I need pro's and con's from those of you have increased your storage size.
I currently have a Series3 HD and Comcast. We are only watching in one room. The unit is faulty, will not show any HD.
But I have a Premier unit (new) coming, and my wife wants a tv in her room set up. We previously had a Comcast HD DVR and 3 "satellite" mini boxes.
Will I have to get a main Comcast receiver for her, or will the TiVo with Comcast cablecards in it allow the small satellite receivers to work?
Thanks for any help.
After watching this show I cancelled my season pass. I never liked the mean Sue and the way they keep bringing the older grads back into the show has been a real dstraction and I feel has made the show go down hill. I would have preferred to see the two high school students doing the full Grease song and not do a fantasy replacement with Fenn and Rachael doing the singing. I feel that was an insult to the two actors who started singing the song. Once again we havea teacher sleeping with a student. Which is not a good plot line to follow. I realise why it was done but feel it was still in bad taste. Lets get back to what the show was about, A group of HIGH SCHOOL students in a glee club. Every one else leave the set.
I'm new to the DVR community so if you could bare with me, I'd really appreciate it. I've been from a number of people that it is not possible to do a PROM modification on a Tivo Series 4, but then again, I've also heard from some that it is possible. I really dont know what to believe! Anyone know which is true?
Things are heating up this season in northeastern Ohio of all places. That’s because season 4 of TV Land’s hit show Hot In Cleveland premieres November 28th. Over the last 3 seasons, this original sitcom has been nominated for a SAG Award and, for two years running, Betty White has won the SAG Award for female actor in a TV comedy series in addition to receiving an Emmy nomination for her performance on the show. Reunite with White, Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick as they deal with the mystery baby Continue Reading
As much as some of the characters annoy me, I love the fast pace of this show. They don't drag crap out.
Poor April. When is she going to find out her BFF is daggered? And when are they going to un-dagger Rebekah? I miss her!
It was nice to see Katherine, even if she wasn't really there.
I liked Matt's conversation with Damon.
Just like the demise of MTV and recently ESPN, Food Network is virtually unwatchable.
All they ever show is reality cooking shows, Cupcake wars, restaurant impossible and Chopped.
There is never any actual cooking anymore. I miss the days of Molto Mario, Rachel Ray and Emeril Lagasse actually in a kitchen cooking. Their alternate channel is not in HD so to me I can't look at it.
Thank God for PBS and their cooking shows!
I have two Series 2 TIVOs and I'm having a problem with both of them powering down at the same time. They were hooked up to a UPS, but I disconnected them from the UPS thinking that may the problem, but no luck.
They are hooked up to a power strip, but the TV is not powering down??
Is anyone having the same problem?
I am trying to escape the use of additional cable boxes in secondary bedrooms & was trying to see if the forthcoming Tivo Mini allows the use of the Premier 4XL individual tuners to watch live TV?
In other words, I would be essentially using 1 of the Premier 4XL's tuner to stream & control live TV in a secondary room via the Mini & also watch already recorded content off the hub that is the Premier 4XL.
Well it looks like a lot of time bombs about to go off next episode.
Poor Jim, I knew the minute they we talking all snarky to him on the phone call that he was out and will lose all his $$$.
i remember on the cable co boxes i could be able to line up shows to record and the box did not do predictive disk space checking so no conflicts due to disk space.
is there a way to disable tivo's predictive checking of space and let the shows be recorded.
despite plenty of space it seems to think "at this rate you will fill up the box too soon"
i set the settings to record 1 minute before and after with keep until i delete.
the cable co boxes would just record until the disk got full where as tivo seems to check the disk space first
is there a way to make it like cable boxes do?
The rest of the episode was fine but I have a real problem with the Penny/Hypnotism conversation coming out of Sheldon's mouth. That was definitely a Howard line. It was just creepy (and not in a funny way) coming from Sheldon.
