Was bored last night as I finally caught up on my stuff and looked through Netflix and came across this show. I had heard good things. I watched the pilot and it was very meh. Does it get better or is just more of the same?
So, the new TiVo has an RF remote? Are there any RF standards? Any universal remotes that know how to talk the RF protocols? Or is this all completely proprietary?
This is a letter to know what is going on. Your new devices you just announced are great! Offering up to 3TB of storage, up to 6 tuners, updated software, better internals, wifi built-in, and an updated design. At the end of the day I have to ask, what were you thinking not including HDMI-CEC support? Sure leave it off the base model, toss around the idea for the Plus, but it has to be apart of your Pro line. After all its a Pro level feature right. So why did you leave it off? Some of us use and want this functionality, functionality that is available in much cheaper and inferior product. So can you explain why you left it out?
I would really like to know as I'm debating about picking up the new X1 box from Comcast and moving on from Tivo. I've had four Tivo units now. My first one was in 2003 and have had seen your company grow. Each new model you release you leave something off. Something that should be current generation. Leaving us always wanting.
I am being honest, could you please let us know why you decided to make this poor decision? We would all very much like to know.

TiVo Inc., a leader in advanced television services and the creator of digital video recorders (DVRs), today announced the launch of the TiVo Roamio DVR, the all-in-one approach to live, recorded, on-demand and over-the-top television that gives consumers what they want on any screen, wherever they are. On the heels of TiVo recently being awarded yet another Emmy Award for innovation in television, TiVo Roamio delivers wherever the viewer's roaming may take them.
"While so many people love TV, they have no idea what TiVo can do for their love of TV. TiVo Roamio is so much more than just the best DVR, it's for people who are all about loving their TV -- that's why we call our latest offering Roamio," said Tom Rogers, TiVo's President and CEO. "Now, wherever you roam your TiVo Roamio is there. In the next room, in the kitchen, in a hotel room across the world -- connecting you right to your living room TV recordings, so you can get them immediately wherever you are. Moreover, you can get all your regular cable channels, the best DVR features available, all combined with favorite streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and YouTube in one box, using one remote. With up to six tuners, tons more space to record your shows so on those Sunday nights when all the great TV is on you can capture it to watch throughout the week. Take every box or device out there -- Roku, Apple TV, Slingbox, Google TV, your standard cable box -- all rolled into one. This is quite simply the best TiVo we have ever made and is truly for people who love TV."
The TiVo Roamio DVR Series includes three models: TiVo Roamio ($199.99), TiVo Roamio Plus ($399.99) and TiVo Roamio Pro ($599.99). Roamio features four or six tuners and unprecedented storage (ranging from 75 hours to 450 hours of HD content). It ensures subscribers never miss a show again and have plenty of space for recordings. The improved speed and performance of TiVo Roamio also includes integrated wireless and TiVo Stream functionality in certain models.
With the Roamio family of products, along with TiVo Mini, customers can replace their DVR and associated monthly fees and even save money every month with TiVo Roamio or a whole-home TiVo solution.
Product features include:
-- Coming very soon, out-of-home streaming will allow subscribers to stream TV and recorded shows to your iPad(R) or iPhone(R). The built-in TiVo Stream feature allows users to connect to their Roamio over Wi-Fi and watch recordings and cable channels almost ANYWHERE.**
-- New look and feel interface offers updated HD screens and fonts with nearly twice the performance. Browse and Search content even faster.
-- "What to Watch Now" on the DVR provides an instantaneous personalized dashboard that immediately shows you the best programming available... right now. Quickly browse through the best sporting events, top 20 shows in that time slot.
-- For users who just like a good channel guide, Roamio offers guide filters to quickly break down the options into only content you want to see. Choose to browse the guide by something as simple as Movies or Sports, or as specific as romantic comedies.
-- All new application platform -- leveraging the new HTML 5 platform to support our apps, the TiVo Roamio runs the latest version of YouTube and Netflix with more on the way. The new platform will enable faster, more frequent additions to the TiVo platform.
-- An improved remote will boast an RF connection, allowing Roamio to be placed behind closed cabinets or in another room altogether -- no line of sight is needed to operate your TiVo. Still, the remote retains the capability of learning commands to control all of your other equipment, allowing for the true one-remote solution.
-- Anywhere you have an Internet connection, you have the ability to manage your DVR with your phone or tablet. The updated free TiVo mobile app available for tablets and smartphones (iOS and Android(TM)) offers remote Season Pass(R) management, a recording scheduler that allows you to add or remove recordings and enhanced WishList(R) management.
-- TiVo Mini software has been updated to include Netflix and "dynamic tuning" to maximize the value of Roamio's capacity. This feature allows all of Roamio's tuners to be used for recording when they aren't actually streaming content to another screen. It's the ultimate whole-home DVR experience.

well this begs the question... will they port the html 5 interface down to the premiere and would it do anything?
First it will have stream built in, so no longer will an extra box be required.
Second, that internal stream function will allegedly allow you to download shows remotely with a software update later this year.
So, that begs some important questions:
1. If you buy a roamio, will you still need a stram for other tivos on your network. My guess is that you will still need a stream for non-roamio devices
2. Will the download outside of your network functionality work with stream with that software update? My guess is no, but there is a possibility....
Oh, and still no mention of android support. That is becoming an embarrassment at this point.
So...a relative uses a Tivo Premiere (2 tuners) with Cox basic cable and an HBO package (handful of HBO channels).
This all worked great until the advent of SDV in Omaha. After installing the tuning adapter (2 months ago), she's twice lost channels. The first time everything locked up and she required help from Cox to resync the adapter, plus a Tivo reboot. My sister-in-law asked Cox tech support, "What caused this problem?" Tech support responded, "No one knows...it just randomly does not work."
Several days ago she lost just the HBO channels. Before calling Cox, I suggested that she reboot Tivo to see if the HBO channels could be "recovered". That did the trick.
But this is not looking very promising. Is this her future? I.E., periodically rebooting Tivo to coexist with SDV?
Thanks in advance for your insights.
We have been wondering what ever became of the new developers kit that was announced. It has been replaced by HTML5 apps via an Opera Browser on the Roamio line.
Listened to an interview with Jim Denney from TiVo, talking about the new HTML app platform and the plans for an App Store in the future.
Apparently as part of the new Series 5 release they are ulgrading the Stream to support out of hime streaming. So now you can watch shows on the road like a Slingbox. No word on exactly when this feature will be available, but several of the reviews of the new S5 mention it's coming and Engadget mentioned using it with a Stream and not just the internal Stream of the new box.
This will be great for those that travel a lot or who have an MSO that makes excessive use of the CCI bit.
Hey guys like the title says Tivo Elite with lifetime the unit is rock steady shoot me your offer. Asking 550.
I keep saying to myself each week the writing can't get any worse, only to be proven wrong. Please tell me how in the world will people get their weapons back that they voluntary turn in with no registration of weapons turned in, just put them in this pile over here, no receipt. I realize that certain things you have to accept in a show, like the dome, but when every facet of every day life is turned upside down, it's time to delete the SP.
The hard drive on my Tivo HD XL no longer boots past the powering up screen so I ordered a new WD10EURX HD and tried to clone it using MFSLive and 2 USB to SATA cables. When I run the backup command, I get a message that the volume header is corrupt.
Can anyone give me some info on what I need to do? At this point, I don't even care if I can't copy my shows over, I just want to get the Tivo up and running again.
"I want to upload my DVD movies to YouTube for sharing with my friends and family. Before uploading, i want to edit my dvd movies with Windows Movie Maker. Unfortunately, it seems that WMM can't import my dvd files. How can i to solve this problem ? Can someone give a suggest to help me, thanks."

I let my local cable provider know that TiVo was still listing 216 as Fuel which was changed to Fox Sports 2 and just checked and it updated the channel name, but there was no notice of a line up change. Is this normal?
I have a premier XL in my family room. I am using an HDMI splitter and repeater to mirror that signal to the kitchen. Everything works great and I have a single Tivo broadcasting to two rooms.
I have a tivo slider remote with bluetooth for the kitchen and have no problem controlling the family room Tivo from the kitchen.
I tried to get a second bluetooth remote because I wanted to keep the cabinet closed with the Tivo inside. No dice. Only one bluetooth remote works with a Tivo.
Great. So I bought a Tivo IR adapter that connects to the USB port. This works, but only with the bluetooth dongle unplugged. Does anyone know how to get two USB products working with a single Tivo?
Is there a shortcut/Easter egg for adding a clock to the display? On my Series3 TiVo you entered SELECT>PLAY>SELECT>9>SELECT.
So it runs out that Sorkin used exactly the same edited tape premise as what happened in real life at CNN?
So Jerry didn't think that General whatsisname would watch and complain?
I know. The general is batty enough to think that Charlie and Mac were Jehovah's Witnesses but he's spot on with the truth about the sarin.

Jeeze. When is HBO gonna drop the Flash-only site?
