Here are five exceptional titles currently on Netflix Instant Streaming that might have flown under your radar. “Brick” (2006) – If you loved the 2012 thriller “Looper,” this film by Writer/Director Rian Johnson is for you. Actor Jospeh-Gordon Levitt stars in a high school neo-noir set in present day Los Angeles where he is a student trying to solve the murder of his girlfriend. Think of it as a modern day version of Jack Nicholson’s “Chinatown” but with less violence and more wit. “Bernie” (2012) – Jack Black Continue Reading
Great episode, as always, with entertaining writing and dialog. Although it got a little predictable. As soon as the girlfriend revealed the past cons she her husband pulled off, we knew Rayland's money was gonna be gone. Rayland sure makes dumb decisions around women.
And when Boyd's boy got bit so many times, especially on the face, I said "He's dead." When they got back to the bar with him still alive but only "almost dead" I had to amend my opinion to "the snakes have been de-venomed." Didn't take long for (someone, doc, Boyd?) to confirm that in conversation and send Boyd back to church :)
If Duffy has heard about the last time that brother Johnny was trusted to turn on Boyd, he'd just shoot Johnny now. And would anyone really believe that Johnny would blame Boyd for his current health, rather than his papa, who shot him with a shotgun in the gut from 6 inches away?
Interesting show. Kinda like the Voice but with food!
Not sure what the judges are looking for, but it seemed to me like some talented cooks/chefs are being passed up.
I wonder what the format will be later on?
Loved the fact that Ludo actually offered the one girl a job!
A totally new feature: The ability to have multiple sets of "favorites" I can switch between.
Motivation: During college football season there are games on several channels at once. It would be nice to temporarily restrict the channel set to just those channels so when a commercial comes on one game, I can channel surf to find another game that doesn't currently have a commercial running :-).
Comcast keeps adding random new channels from time to time. Mostly they are not valid for my account, but the TiVo always adds them to the channel list because they are new.
When I channel surf, I hit these new not available channels, and I'd like to remove them from the channel list.
There are a bunch of controls available from the popup menu you get when you hit "Info", but the only control I really want there is the one that says "remove this channel from my list", and that one isn't there :-(.
Instead I have to remember the channel number and go on a quest over the river and through the woods to get to the channel list and goto that channel number (if I can still remember what it was) to remove it from the list.
I can't think of any of the irritating features of the ToiVo UI that irritates me more than this one.
I might be getting a TiVo Series 2 DT from a friend. I had one in the past (but sold it) and it controlled a Comcast DTA box with the connected TiVo IR blaster. All worked good. If I get this Series 2 from the friend, it might not have the IR blaster. If so, I was wondering if I could use the IR blaster that was included with the Comcast DTA box.
It looks similar and has the same 3.5mm jack at the end. The only thing I am thinking about the Comcast DTA blaster is it seems like its an "input" (receiver) device in that it accepts a remote signal to change the channel on the DTA box. This way, you can possibly hide the DTA if needed. The TiVo blaster seems like an "output" (transmitter) only device in that it basically sends a signal to an external box based on what is coming from the TiVo.
Is this about right and the way each work? In which case, will the included Comcast IR device not work with TiVo S2 as its "blaster"?
Though I rarely post, I've been around for several years. Don't let the join date fool you, I had forgotten my user ID and password from way back and the email address that I used has long since been deleted so I had to re-register.
So my TiVo HD's (TCD652160) hard drive failed and I replaced it (perhaps temporarily) with a 250GB one that seems to be working OK. The darndest thing has happened however that occurred on the old drive and I am now seeing on the new drive. As the old one began to fail, I would get stuttering vidoe, pixelated recordings and all the usual symptoms. The other odd issue that I had is that when I went to TiVo Central, I could see (and navigate) the menu, but the background was the current channel broadcast and not the blue (I think) wallpaper.
Having replaced the drive, the pixelation and stuttering are gone but the lack of wallpaper/background persists. The TiVo, in every other way seems to be functioning perfectly normal.
I'd consider this little more than an annoyance, but it's often rather hard to read the menus. Any ideas?
i am newbie please explain about tivo

I'm really liking this show. I love the cast!
Little sister is a tech nerd? That could be fun.
I think they are doing a great job recreating the 80's. I've spotted several outfits that I recognize. I really hope big hair doesn't ever come back.
I purchased a TiVo Premier XL4 thinking that the "smart" folks at TiVo would surely have improved on what was for me 10 years of flawless recording bliss.
Boy, I could not have been more wrong!
The "new" user interface is so confusing and annoying, I'm almost ready to throw the unit into the trash just to get some measure of satisfaction.
First of all, this whole "wish list" recording option is totally useless. I'd at least like the option of choosing a "classic" mode that I'm familiar with. Season passes I understand.
Second, the search index seems to be totally flawed. Even on the TiVo website, I can't find even mainstream shows. For example, sign into the TiVo site and enter a simple search for "Castle". Surprise - no results. Do this enough times with enough shows and you completely lose confidence that you will ever find anything.
Finally, the performance of the screens of this "top of the line" premier box is incredibly slow. Just click on "My Shows" and it takes a full 8 seconds to display anything. I assume it's busy fetching a list of available shows and the like. But with so much memory and processing power available, I don't understand why there should be any delay at all.

Premiere Elite. Latest software. SD Menus.
After the new software release I have twice encountered the following apparent bug. After watching a football game, with loads of fast forwards and 30 second skips (so maybe this is a hidden key combination rather than a bug) I hit the back key to get to the menu for the game to delete it, and the TiVo hangs for a few seconds, then reboots. I now hit the TiVo key and reselect the game to delete it, but I wondered if this was a known issue/bug.
Thanks in advance,
Anyone have this combo and does it work? i have the original ipad (holding out on upgrading till a retina mini) and i cant get it to stream or download to it. it initiates a recording or a transfer but it fails, saying the channel is not available or something went wrong.
i have an iphone 5 and it works fine, but not the ipad. i get the same errors with the 5 in some wifi dead spots that i have (as expected), but the ipad doesnt work at all next to the access point.
i cant find any info to see if the old ipad is not supported. wanted to see if someone got it working before i start troubleshooting/upgrading my wifi.

Thanks to everyone who helped me decide on the premiere.....I changed my cable card installation appointment to tomorrow so hopefully I can run through the guided setup tonight.
I cannot wait to get rid of this horrid charter dvr and be backin the land of TiVo!
I can't let this episode go by without a thread!
There were so many good one-liners, but they really had me with, "Just enjoy it."
And I missed it on the first watching, but at the end Mitchell asks "A full Uncle?" and Haley asks, "What's a fulunkle?"
I lost it when Lily was pushed off the chair.
Did anyone notice that Fred Savage directed this episode?
Second time in a couple weeks my TiVo Elite has failed me. When I got home last night around 11:00pm I checked My Shows and noticed it was missing some stuff. I checked the history and it said they were all missed because of "no signal". I dropped to live TV and could not get any channels to tune. Ocassionally it would kick in like it was trying to tune, but it was pixelated. I switched to my wife's TiVo, which is connected to the same splitter, and hers worked fine. So I rebooted my TiVo. When it came back it could tune some channels, but was still having trouble. So I then rebooted the tuning adapter and once it came back online everything was working again. Although I'm not 100% sure if it was the TA or just the time it took for it to reboot that fixed the problem. I've seen issues before with the CableCARD doing weird things immediately after a reboot.
Anyway, whatever happened, I missed everything that was scheduled to record last night because of this! :( Luckily we have BitTorrent to fall back on in situations like this.
I read through some old threads, but none seemed to address my issue.
I just got a new Premier 4. I connected the MOCA ECB to my network and cable modem per Tivo's guide at http://www.tivo.com/mytivo/howto/moc...ks=moca_vanity
. I get no COAX light.
I did some checking, and changed the ECB installation so it was split off the wall jack and not in line between the jack and modem. Still no COAX light.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there something on the Tivo I need to activate? It was working on my wireless with a G adapter, and I removed the G adapter, no go.
they need to rename the show..having the son in every shot is really annoying...at least the girls had a little screen time in this one. i also think his character isnt even good within the context of a bumbling idiot. i think thats the main problem. if he didnt acknowledge it, it would be better
yet i like the prez and no laugh track so i'm still watching
