Hello. I have a Tivo Premiere. I love it. Does an awesome job.
I record quite a bit of high def video. Currently, I use Tivo desktop to offload the content. Then I use VideoRedo to edit the files and archive them.
Everything is great..... except for one thing.
The file size is VERY large.
So what I would like to do, if possible, is record shows with my Tivo, then use some sort of HDMI capture device to offload the content onto my PC. Naturally, I want something that will maintain the best quality possible. And of course, something with a smaller output file size than I am currently getting with Tivo.
Everyone has their opinion on TV couples they love and couples they hate – whether it’s Ross and Rachel from Friends or George and Izzi (yes, we still remember that) on Grey’s Anatomy. Do you ever watch TV and feel the urge to play matchmaker? We do. While we still can’t come to a consensus on a better match for Peter from Family Guy, we have decided on the following 3 TV couples we wish existed: Jim & Maggie on “The Newsroom” Don’s rivalry with Jim has gone from professional to personal. The AOL On Network today announced the launch of version 2.0 of its connected TV app. Formerly known as AOL HD, The AOL On app will feature ad-serving capabilities at launch, and will boast a wide selection of rich, high-definition video content drawn from The AOL On library of more than 380,000 short-form videos. Already available on seven of the leading connected TV platforms, the update will be made available to three of these platforms: Samsung Smart TVs, Roku and Sony. Currently in beta, TiVo joins the lineup of supported platforms. Subscribers will receive access to the AOL On app in the coming weeks on TiVo Premiere DVRs.
The London Olympic Games may be drawing to a close, but TiVo viewers remained engaged, viewing many historic events as part of last night’s TiVo Top Moments. The extraordinary victory of Usain Bolt and Jamaica in the men’s 200m ranked first among last night’s Top Moments: Bolt pounded his chest and smiled, uttered a quick prayer before the start, took a strong lead and did not give it up. Bolt kept his title of World Champion and took home the gold for Jamaica and became the first man to win the 100m Continue Reading
I have recorded several 10 hour sessions of the Olympics and found that while fast forwarding, if I hit the SKIP button, I can jump forward by 15 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour - seemingly at random. I can't figure out how to consistently jump 15 minutes at a time. It seems for 1 hour shows, it will consistently only skip 15 minutes but for the long recordings, it seems to jump in varying increments without a pattern (that I can figure out). I have tried waiting between presses, returning to play then FF+SKIP, etc. Is there some pattern/control over this? Premiere XL
Clearly, Janelle wasn't looking forward enough. You snooze you lose!
And ug, another week of Carrotop and A-hole in charge. Yay?

I watched the ep titled "Grand Theft Auto" today. It's currently featured at http://www.cnbc.com/id/42767515/
It was a decent piece and pretty insightful. They talked about VIN cloning and some of the tactics used by auto theft rings. Pretty crazy stuff.
Good Finale, I knew that there was going to be a Cliff connection.
I am just a little miffed with myself that I did not get the clue that was in our face the whole season.
Her name Rebecca is the same name as Cliff and Pam's mother.
So as an homage to the opening episode of the original series a Ewing marries a Barnes.
We currently have a series 2 tivo and a cable HD DVR 40 hr capacity. Considering purchasing the premiere XL to replace both dvr's. We don't use vod so I'm not concerned with losing that. I've read through a lot of posts that complain about the UI for tivo though.
For those of you that have the premiere xl, how do you like it? Would you purchase it again or go for something else?
I have seen on the forum that some users have been able to stream multi room on Wireless N. It also appears Tivo may have originally supported it and then changed. My question is for those who have done it sucessfully, has Tivo made a change to hardware or software which no longer allows it or just won't support it. Due to my expected location of the one unit which will be on N when all set up, I think I could be sucessful if still allowed. For reference, the other is further away from router and has ethernet.
Other question is for FIOS users. Does Verizon always install MoCa regardless of the equipment requested and will the testing they do reliabilly inform me that MoCa will work well? Can I expect adding the Tivo bridge on the Premier and using the built in bridge on the XL4 to be reliable or is it worth spending a day in the attic running Ethernet?
So, using kmttg, is there at all a way to download a portion of a show only?
For example, say I have an episode of "Dallas" recorded but I only want to download the opening title sequence? I know you can click PAUSE on your TiVo and kmttg will start the recording from there but it will continue until the end of the recording. Any way to stop it earlier or is this a feature you just can't do?
Looking for any help, info, input anyone my have on using Tivo Series 2 with a Motorola VIP2202. I cannot get it to change channels using the IR blasters.
Thanks for any and all help.
I noticed recently that the 30 second advance button isn't working anymore on my XL4. If I press it, it displays the time bar on the screen but nothing happens. If I am fast forwarding or rewinding, hitting the button will still skip to the next time segment.
I have an old S1 that I purchased around 2001 or so, and I upgraded it with a 120GB hard drive, TurboNet, and TiVoWeb. Unfortunately, I haven't used it in at least a year or two, ever since I cancelled my cable TV service.
I know TiVo used to offer a lifetime service transfer to a new box, but I don't see that option advertised any more. I'd like to sell my TiVo, but would anyone buy it?
Well I've being "weened" from cable and my XL and 4XL machines. I'm away from home with only local OTA which isn't all that bad but when I look at an Internet Guide I keep reaching for the remote to set up the next few days of viewing. Well there isn't a TiVo!
No TV "my way" for probably six weeks! I don't believe I'd carry the XL here since the season is still a few weeks away but I have to admit I thought about packing it when I was home last weekend.
"TiVo - don't leave home without it! Soon that could very well be my "motto"!
Please tell me I'm not the only one watching this quirky show? I figured the time slot and the quality of the network would be an indication of quality. It took me 2 episodes, but now I think it's one of the funniest shows I watch.
The first episode sure had an interesting surprise.
Not sure if anybody is still watching, but I still am. In general it isn't that exciting of a show, but this was a pretty good episode.
The girl who took the money was smart. She was already in the bottom and even though I think the audience was warming up to her, it made sense.
I was glad to see Joy go down the tubes twice :D
