I should be getting a Roamio before too long, replacing a two tuner Premiere box. I know you can copy season passes from one of your boxes to another through the website.
However, what about suggestions? I've built up rather a lot of them (I haven't counted, but about 70 or so, with half of them set to auto record). It would be nice not to have to re-enter all of them.
Especially one that I have which will take awhile to redo. It's one that has every actor that has played a companion over 50 years of Doctor Who, with the phrase "Doctor Who" excluded. That way I can see other stuff they've been in. :)
Anyway, I didn't know of a way to do that, but I thought I'd ask in case it is available, and I just don't know about it. Tkx.
So I am wondering how that TiVo will stay in business.
Purchased a Roamio this week and turned-in my TWC Cisco DVR--because the interface and the quality were terrible.
After getting the device set-up on TWC, only 3 of the 4 tuners worked--so a multiple set of calls to support started.
CASE #1: 130904-008911
Our representative [Stu] told us that the DVR needed to be replaced and it would be better and easier for them to replace it than taking it back to Best Buy, where purchased.
After a lot of problems even getting to that diagnostic, Stu told us to, "Wait a little while, take a walk and get a cup of coffee" and all would work out. Wow Stu, great advice for a piece of technology!
The results were to get a replacement shipped out but the catch was we had to call back in twenty minutes to get the shipping unit TiVo Service Number replaced in the account, but he could not do it as it required just a quick call back into the system to accomplish this.
So in twenty minutes (actually we waited about an hour) we called back.
CASE #2: 130904-010930
So Dan tells us it takes four hours not twenty minutes and that we need to call back to get the quick-switch taken care of.
(4 hours and 30 minutes later)
Guess what, we get Dan again! What luck!
But also guess what, we have to call back in several hours (8PM MT) to make sure that it goes through.
Hey Dan, get us a supervisor on the line please.
Well the supervisor stated that they would take care of EVERYTHING! Just let him get another supervisor that would be there on Thursday to take care of the switch-over and all will be well.
TWO DAYS LATER
Call back and in same form and fashion the DVR says it has no service--they kick-off a remote connection, again and again.
And now I have to wait 24 - 48 hours for everything to make it through the system.
Guess What, this is the biggest piece of junk I have ever dealt with from a support, service and hardware perspective.
Wow, just wow!
Reviews are going up on Best Buy, Amazon and other sites to warn against the huge colossal waste of technology and time!
Along the way I was promised calls back from Supervisors and the masses, but have I gotten ONE call back--NO!
If any TiVo representative is monitoring this forum, please use the case numbers posted and call us at the number on the account. We would like to get some attention to our issue.
If your Slide remote broke but you still have the dongle, I'd like to buy it. I've got a Slide without a dongle and haven't been able to pair it with anything but a genuine TiVo dongle.
I bought a series one TIVO from a garage sale, the owner stated that it has a lifetime membership. First question, is this true and second of all, I have cable supplied through my apartment complex (I get cable channels right out of the jack with no box) and was wondering if I need a cable box in order to make it function correctly. It is currently up and running and updated with out a hitch, but when I go to change the channels, the TIVO box displays the right information but the channel never changes. It remains on channel 4. I am connected strictly through RF. Please help if anyone can. Thanks for your time and effort.
I have never used MRS (Multi-Room Streaming) before now (from my old Premiere to view on my new Roamio). I played with it some and it is pretty fantastic.
I am using a crappy little WiFi G gaming adapter and the signal is weak (far away), so it works fine MOST of the time. But there is an occasional glitch every now and then, which is not only expected, but no big whoop.
EXCEPT that on rare occasions it will throw up an error that my network is too slow, do I want to try again. Again, not a big whoop.... EXCEPT THAT WHEN I SAY "YES", IT TOTALLY FORGETS MY POSITION IN THE VIDEO and starts at the beginning of the video!
Is that "normal"?? I have never seen this mentioned before. It looks like a glaring bug to me. There is absolutely no reason the TiVo should start back at the beginning... it knew exactly where I was when I was watching it.
Hi, I'm new to TiVo, with a new Roamio, and enjoying the experience so far, despite some technical issues that I think are being sorted out. In particular, I'm liking the connection to the TiVo iPhone app.
One thing that I see in the app but can't figure out how to get on the TiVo itself is under the "What to Watch" section. On the TiVo, I see "Popular TV", "Movies", "Sports", and "Kids". But on the app, "What to Watch" shows me "Popular TV", "Sports", "Movies on TV", and "Favorite Channels".
It's this "Favorite Channels" that I particularly like. This shows, at a glance, what is currently airing on the channels I've tagged as favorites. It may be my favorite implementation of favorite channels on any device I've ever watched TV on. But it's not on my TiVo screen. I can only see it on the app. (And yes, I think I can tune to these channels by using the app, but I'd rather get it on the TV screen).
I've explored the settings a bit on TiVo, but I can't figure out how to customize the "What to Watch" section to show me a Favorite Channels section. I want exactly what the app does to display on my TiVo, but I can't figure it out. Does anyone know how to do this? Is it possible? Or should I take this over to the features suggestion forum?
I disconnected an antenna cable and re-connected to another one then re-ran antenna scan because it missed some channels. I got audio but the top 90% of the video was cut off on the lower channels. The video was severely pixellated on the upper channels.
I initially thought that maybe the box or the drive was bad. I had put in a 3TB WD AV-GP drive before I ever turned it on.
So, I reverted to the old standby: pull the plug and let it reboot. That did it--everything working fine. As an aside, there is no "wdidle" (or whatever it's called) problem. BTW, I have some S3 OLEDS I am going to sell. PM if interested.
When a user starts a thread and then replies to it later, it would be nice to have an "Original Poster" flag under their user name and in red to indicate they were the one who started the thread. This is nice for long discussions threads to know when the person who started the topic has weighed back in.
Here is how it looks on another forum I visit.

I'm kind of a "if it ain't broke don't mess with it" kinda guy. I've been successfully using the iPad Tivo app to set up recordings, stream via Tivo Stream, etc. with my Premier HD
I've noticed (2) recent updates appear on my iPad update list.... the latest being version 3.1.1
Does the update bring me anything I don't already have? I'm now running version 3.0.1 (656827) on my iPad.
Anyone have any idea what retailers are paying TiVo for a Plus (which currently retails for about $400)?
Lately my premiere has been tuning into the same channel on all 4 tuners I guess via TiVo suggestions..
I have refined my thumbs but it still seems to happen a few times a week.
I haven't looked close enough yet so I'll come back with my answer later. But it's always fun to speculate :)
I have a daughter who went off to college this year. She has a Tivo in her room that is the one unit that I do not have lifetime service on ($6.95 per month) and she wants me to send it to her for her dorm as it has a bunch of her recordings already on it.
The question is this: Can I send her own unit to her, or should I copy all of her shows to one of our lifetime units and send that one to her? Since her IP address will be different will this cause Tivo to change the service to a different price, losing my $6.95 rate?
for the second time in as many months, my Premiere is green-screening. Each time, I filled about half of the drives capacity, and then crash time.
The drive is a WD 1 TB AV series drive, which is a replacement of the original, 320mb drive which failed.
I used an image found here, and then updated, etc.
Question: is there a technical reason why the drive, or the TiVo software, may invoke errors when 500mb is used up, as I can't see why the drive would error being 50% full.
I'd like to try one more time, but am nervous there's some reason the green-screen keeps happening which I don't understand...
Why does the Mini run through guided setup only to note that an update is ready and you will have to run guided setup again? Couldn't it have just checked for the update first and applied that?
So, I've gone through a pretty exhaustive troubleshooting with TiVo and they are prepared to exchange out my box, but I'm really trying to avoid that because of Cable Card pairing issues, content on the box, and that its a general time sink to stand up a new TiVo.
Not to mention...I really don't think this is a hardware issue.
Here's the deal.
When using the HD Menu Search, I cannot find some programs after my TiVo phones home overnight. Basically, they vanish each morning. However, I CAN find those programs using the standard SD Title Search, but NOT using the SD Swivel Search. Once I do a force-connect to TiVo's servers I can find all programming for several hours, possibly until the next auto connect.
Here is a specific example:
- I have a season pass for Dexter
- I search for Dexter using HD Search, it doesn't find anything.
- I go into my Season Pass for Dexter and list upcoming episodes. They display, but indicate that they "are not available for recording"
- I go into the Grid-Guide and manually find that same Episode and am able to set TiVo to record it.
- If I do a title search from SD Menus, it finds the episode just fine.
- If I do a force connect, the previously missing or unavailable episode is both found and is available for recording via season pass upcoming episodes.
Now, this doesn't just happen with Dexter, but it was a convenient example. It does appear to only affect National programs as opposed to those that are are available on local affiliates like CW, ABC, FOX, etc.
So, I'm wondering if the HD search is going to TiVo's servers to get the programs and getting fouled up somehow. I only noticed this over the past week or so, but suppose it could have been going on longer.
Finally, I have redone a Guided Setup with a bogus zip code to wipe out all programming information and then redid it again with my real zip code. This had no effect.
I have not tried a complete restore as that, has generally bricked my TiVos in the past and I might as well just go the exchange route at that point.
OK TiVo community...you are my last bastion...please come through for me :-)
Just got the update on my iPhone 5, not sure if there is one yet for Android.
Version is 3.1.1 and only has "Minor Changes" listed in the change log. I'm curious as to what these changes entail, so feel free to post here with any speculation or facts.
Has anything changed here since yesterday?
I've noticed a change in behavior with Safari (only) in that after browsing several pages, when I want to go back, I need to go back several times in order to go back a single page. Going back a single time takes me to a blank page.
Note that in my testing this only happens with Safari on my Mac and I don't see it in Firefox, and I cannot account for why this suddenly changed.
I think I must be missing something very simple here... I am trying to transfer seaosn passes from old S3 to Roamio Pro. SPM on Tivo.com won't transfer most of them saying they are either not in the next 14 days or the channel lineup is different... all channels are the same on both units.
So I installed kmttg. First time user. I see all my Tivos in tabs. I can refresh each and see the entire list of recordings on each. BUT, if I go to the Remote tab, and select Season Passes, only the new Roamio appears in the drop down. I can't load and save the season passes from my other units since they are not in the dropdown. What am I missing?
I have a single channel, the Disney channel, that is suddenly using the Spanish language track as the default. All other channels are using English. I can change the language track from Spanish to English. Is there something that could have changed on the Tivo side? This is for an Elite Tivo. It was working fine until I am allowing a Tivo newbie in the house start using it after I moved on to a Roamio.
