I've have 2 issues with my Premiere XL. One is easy to describe, one is a little more difficult. I'll do the easy one first.
1. If I'm recording 2 live shows, specifically sporting events, I'll start watching one, pause it at halftime, then go start watching the other one and when it catches up I'll resume the one that was at halftime. The issue is, when I go to play the first one, it ALWAYS reverts back to the beginning. I can't resume from where I paused! This happens when a show is currently being recorded. Am I doing something incorrectly?
2. If I'm watching a game (I'll use football for instance) and I want to fast forward between the end of a play and the hike of the next play, I used to be able to hit the FF twice and then just before they reach the line of scrimmage, click the reverse arrow so it's only going FFx1 and then hit play and it picked up right from where I wanted it to play. As you know, if I FFx2 and hit play it generally picks back up just moments after the place where I started before I fast-forwarded. Now when I use my strategy, about 50% of the time it works, the other 50% of the time it skips an additional 10-15 seconds. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong there or if there is a fix? Really, really weird. If I'm unclear on this issue please ask any questions and I'll elaborate.
Sorry if there is already a discussion on this topic. I couldn't think of a good way to search for it. If there is someone please point me to it.
Anyway, I was thinking about the new TiVo Stream and it got me thinking about the idea of watching your stuff wherever you are in the house. This led me to think about how you find content that you have recorded and I thought, wouldn't it be cool if no matter what TiVo or device you were on you saw a fully integrated My Shows list with all the shows on all your networked devices. This way you wouldn't have to sit around and think about which Tivo has what show. You could just select and play.
It seems like something like that would be fairly easy to implement and really turn Tivo into an easy to use whole house solution.
I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of this. What do you guys think?
I have a TiVo premier and I bought a GoFlex External Hard drive. I have a USB/eSATA cord that I use to connect the two, but TiVo doesn't seem to recognize anything is plugged in. Does anybody know if it's possible to connect the two or not?
The only reason I'm doing it this way and not using the desktop or just connecting my computer to the tv is that my crappy computer is old and overheats when I do that. It seems to tolerate transfers to the external drive, but not the tivo. :/
A wile ago when I got my TiVo Premiere I used Jmfs Live CD to copy the 500GB drive to a 2TB drive. It worked very good for all that time I had it.
Now I got a 4 tuner HD TiVo that came with a 2TB drive. So I don't need the Premiere any more and I want to use the 2TB drive out of it for backups.
So I copied the 2TB to the 500GB and Jmfs Live CD said error when it got to the 500GB part. I turned it off and put it in my Premiere. It worked. But seen all the videos. I am sure not all would work. So I ran the clear and delete everything. Set it up and it still sees it as a 2TB drive even though it's on a 500GB.
Is there some command I can run to tell it it's a 500GB and not a 2TB drive?
To bad they don't make a instant cake for the TiVo Premiere.
O yes. I used the 500GB for other things so it did not have the TiVo Premiere on it any more.
I have a Tivo Series-2 hooked up to a Motorola DCT2244 via serial cable, this has worked flawlessly for three years up until a month or so ago. The tivo commands the correct channel and the 2244 box changes there, then immediately shifts a channel up/down.
I live in Seattle with Comcast service.
My triple play pricing on Cablevision (ugh) is about to end and I am going to switch to a fios triple play bundle. Thought it'd be a great time to go back to TiVo. Was planning on getting an XL4 and Stream, but then it occurred to me that I'd hate to do that and then a month later find out that a whole new series of (better or more integrated) TiVo hardware was being released.
I know no one outside of TiVo knows for sure, but are they somewhat Apple-like in their annual predictability? If so, when does that point to new flagships?
I've had my S3 since they came out. It's been running like a champ.
Until a couple of weeks ago, it started having problems booting up. I think on the third try it finally started up. But then the next day, it was stuck on "Powering Up..." screen. Several attempts to powerdown/restart were not successful.
I've been around Tivos long enough to know when my hard drive failed. So I ordered a new HD upgrade from Weakknees, which arrived today. 5 minutes later it was installed.
Same problem. Constant "powering up.." reboot cycle every 2-4 minutes or so.
What next? Is this a repairable problem? This box has lifetime, and I'd really like to get it working to avoid "upgrading" to a Tivo Premier.
In TLC's latest "Little People Big World" special, the Roloff family reunites for a vacation Down Under.
airs Monday, Sept. 3 at 8 p.m. on TLC.
Just a heads up. If your interested you will probably have to set a season pass to catch this special.
Character in HBOs' TV show Newsroom says "America is only number one in the world in defense spending, number of citizens that believe in angels, and number of citizens incarcerated per capita".
Looks like HBO is taking small steps to offer their services without a payTV sub.
So if this were available to you, would you be interested? If so at what price point?
I would be at something around $10/mo
I have a TiVo Series 3 (w/ OLED) that has either a failing drive or corrupted drive. I also have a spare 500GB WD drive that I thought I would just put a new TiVo image on and then basically swap it with the S3's original (250GB) drive.
From what I can tell, WinMFS seems like the best solution to be able to install a fresh/clean image onto this drive. Can be done within Windows. I am not interested in transferring any recordings so it should be simple. I was also able to obtain a S3 image that is basically titled 648250b.tbk. This is the correct image to use with WinMFS, correct?
I have this spare 500GB drive connected to to a PC and its already mounted as drive G:. The tutorial states "Don't assign a drive letter. If you do, your Tivo Bootpage will be erased." Should I really worry about this or is it not a big deal in my case & really only if I'm maybe copying/backing up an existing drive? Having it already mounted as drive G: won't mess up my main Windows drive (C:) either, will it?
I'm also a little confused on which option I really need to run to load my clean image on to this 500GB WD drive. I see 'restore kernal', 'restore bootpage' & 'restore TiVo drive'. I'm thinking "restore TiVo Drive" is all I need to worry about, correct? Again, all the others are really if I was copying/backing up an existing drive.
I currently have two tivo premieres hooked up to comcast cable. Tomorrow Verizon is coming to install FIOS, and I have requested for them to bring two cable cards. Is there anything I need to do with the tivo premieres ahead of time to prepare for this? Should I rerun guided setup and select FIOS as my provider? Should I do this before the FIOS technician arrives, or after?
Previously with a HD TiVo using an optical cable from the TiVo to his receiver my friend was able to turn off the TV and the sound from the channel would continue to be outputted. The video is fed from the TiVo to the TV via HDMI.
With a TiVo Premiere using the same setup when the TV is turned off the audio drops. The TiVo is still on and receiver is still on only the TV is turned off.
It's not making any sense to me and am trying to find a solution. He turns the TV off while he's out of the house so his cats are not left in total silence. It's comforting to them.
Any ideas why this is happening? Is the Premiere sensing the TV is turned off and not outputting the sound? Any other DVR I've had would continue to output sound even when the TV is not on.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
As a side note: his TV does not support any kind of HDMI-CEC, it an older generation Sony Bravia.

Does anyone have any idea when Miami will be getting on demand
I'm using Vegas Pro 11 to render some videos on my TiVo Premiere. Since I only have TiVo Desktop (not Plus), I've rendered them as MPEG 2. They play just fine on my PC with Winamp and Windows Media Player. However when I play them with TiVo I get no sound.
Could it be a codec issue?
Thanks in advance :)
