I'm at my wit's end right now. I'm on my 4th Tivo HD XL in the past 3 years maybe. They all start freezing maybe once a month, then once a week, and now daily and even when I'm just watching a program. It's freezing so much my programs aren't being recorded. I haven't seen a recent Daily Show in weeks.
I know this was a problem with these units from reading this forum in the past, and I just scanned through all the threads but none seem to specifically address this problem now except for maybe installing a new drive, which I don't think is a reasonable solution unless Tivo pays for it. Does anyone know if there is a final solution to this problem? Otherwise I think I might be done with Tivo and switch to whatever Comcast has to offer for DVRs (haven't looked into this yet).
I've been a loyal Tivo guy for something like 10 years, going back to DirecTivo. I'm even on the Tivo Advisors panel.
Thanks and Frustrated,

For those of you have been tracking TiVo prices for years, could you please shed some insight on when we might expect the company or retailers to slash the price of the XL4? Perhaps around Thanksgiving/Holiday season time?
I'm thinking of investing in a XL4 before the fall TV season begins for the quad tuner capability. I currently have a Series3 with lifetime subscription that has been upgraded to record 300HD, but it only has 2 tuners. The unit also requires 2 cablecards, regardless of whether they are single or multistream, which adds an additional $50/yr to the cable bill.
As much as I love TiVo (I jumped aboard the bandwagon with my the highest capacity Series2), I'm also a savvy shopper and usually only buy a product that I want when I feel I'm receiving a really sizable discount or great deal. If I get an XL4, I'm probably going to want lifetime service for it, and those numbers really add
On a related note, does the XL4 require only 1 multistream cablecard for all 4 tuners?
Show is just starting here on the West Coast.
If you've already seen it, go ahead and discuss! I'll see you after I've watched the show.
Man is Dan ruthless!! That has to be one of the greatest moves ever in BB history! I actually felt really bad for Danielle when she told Dan he broke her heart. Can't wait for tomorrow.
This was the episode with the Coyotl dudes kidnapping the girl.
I'm glad the partner was finally let in on what is going on. I think it will make for a better show. I liked the Grimm mom being around in earlier episodes. I figured she wouldn't stick around, so it's nice the partner is in on it.
WCBS 2 in NY is showing preseason football tomorrow.
WLNY-55 will have BB14 tomorrow night at 9pm. However my cable company doesn't have this channel.
So not sure how I will view this.
Just a heads up for those who get WLNY-55.
Okay, I don't want to get anyone's hopes up but I'd love to see a season 3 of the colony. I kind of doubt it but I really did love this show.
My hypothetical situation for season three would be to have a larger area than the last one as a "playground" and have two different groups of survivors, neither with knowledge that the other one is there.
They could still have groups of unaffiliated marauders but it would be interesting to see how the two primary groups interact. Would they are peaceful towards each other and start sharing resources or would perceive each other as hostiles act in a more defensive/offensive manner?
Sounds like fun TV to me. :D
YouTube classic tags are being interpreted inside of code tags. I was trying to show how the YT tags work.
Had to do the awkward put spaces in the tags and explain they shouldn't be there dance.

When spaces are removed becomes:
It is obviously not expected because the video doesn't stay with the code boundaries.
Nothing should be parsed between code tags, right?

I started receiving the V301 error on the HuluPlus app this week, after Hulu upgraded its website to a completely new look and feel. I'm wondering if they changed the API for the app at the same time, and forgot to tell TiVo? Seems odd that the two things happened pretty much simultaneously.
Has anyone else started having problems with this error over the last week or two? If it is an API thing, I'd expect most people to be affected.
TiVo support have submitted my issue to the bug tracker, after numerous attempts to resolve it with refreshes, reboots and recycles - nothing worked. All they could suggest is to 'keep trying it' periodically, so that if they release a fix I'll know about it. Shame they don't publish fixes somewhere or update users by email when problems are resolved.
Instead of the result show of AGT WNBC is broadcasting a pre-season football game. This does not mean you cannot watch AGT. The WNBC substation will air it. Antenna users can tune to channel 4.2. FIOS users can select channel 460. Comcast users do have this channel but since I can't remember what it is you will have to look in the guide.
The other option is to wait until Sunday when WNBC will air the show. Although it may be available online before then.
From TiVo's earnings call,
Our Comcast offering, which is their only product that brings together traditional linear television, operator video on-demand and the most popular broadband video offerings all in one experience, has been well received by subscribers in Boston and the San Francisco Bay Area, the first markets to offer the service. Comcast will make the TiVo offering available in Sacramento, Portland, and Denver next, and we expect multiple more markets to launch this year.
Even if you aren't a Ross fan, the show is pretty good as he gets his comedian friends to come in and comment on various current events or people in the news. It does have a segment that seems like it was stolen directly from Tosh.O but generally the show is a good 1/2 comedy show. During the first 2 shows he went to Sarah Silvermann's house and John Stamos' house for about 5 minutes and he ragged on them and they ragged on him. Pretty funny.
Looks like it's gonna be a wild one
with the Fabulous Beekman Boys and a heavy metal rocker (former Megadeth member)...
I have a Series 4 that WILL NOT connect to my Linksys E2000 Router
when I have the following settings. Under Wireless - Wireless MAC Filter.
When it is Enabled - Permit PC Listed Below. And I have the MAC Address
entered into the Table; I can't get connected to the "N" Adapter on the Tivo.
If I Disable the Wireless MAC Filter, Then the Tivo will connect.
It makes NO since, since the MAC Address is "CORRECT" in the Table!!!
Any thoughts, out their?
What is the total capacity a TiVo Premiere XL4 can recognize? IOW, if I plug in a 1 TB MyDVR external drive into an XL4 with an internal 2 TB hard drive, will it see all 3 TB as usable space or is there a limit lower than 3 TB?
I have the bad habit of submitting my phone expenses in ~6 month chunks (2nd phone line to my home office ~$32.00/mo, and then Ooma expenses for our India Office ~$14.00/mo). I submitted Apr thru Aug this morning.
Our HR guy is now stating IRS rules limit reimbursements to just TWO months. I have been under the impression (over the last 15yrs of working in this consultative environment) that the IRS was mostly concerned with client-billable reimbursements. These phone expenses are not client billable.
I don't plan to argue the internal policy here; I am mostly just curious the IRS piece of his objection.
Anyone have an opinion on this topic?
