I want to take .Tivo files with me to watch at a location that I do not have a Tivo at. I know that Tivodecode will strip the encryption but i cannot get it to work. I'm not criticizing the program.....I'm just not a command line sort of guy. I really need a GUI to work with. ( I have Tivo Desktop Plus).
I would like a no cost program but would be willing to pay for one if i must. I have found a couple of programs on a google search but would prefer a recommendation from someone here because i'm worried about downloading nasties from bad people.
Thank you for your help
Just saw this review on IGN.com
Show stars Chris O'Dowd from IT Crowd and Bridesmaids. Show is made by Christopher Guest who did Spinal Tap, Best in Show, etc...
I will watch it because it is HBO and I loved IT Crowd. I pretty much hate anything Christopher Guest does. So, we will see what I think about it I guess.
Well not unexpectedly, USA has decided that this will be the final season of Brin Notice. I'll miss it, but I have to admit it's not the draw it once was. It's gotten a bit predictable and repetitive.
Hopefully the writers will end it in a satisfactory manner.
Hi all, seems so easy but I just can't figure this out lol! So when I am in any tivo premiere menu, how do I go back to my recorded program? (not live tv button)
I use a harmony remote if that helps...
bonus q... i get a lot of sound dropouts between menus, is this normal? I thought it was my Onkyo AVR at first but i run hdmi and composite simultaneously (to two sources) and it happens on both, eliminating the onkyo as the cause. Seems like there are multiple scenarios causing audio dropouts, i am not hearing things right???!!

Well, that was almost as good as I could have hoped for, though I am disappointed there was no 2 A-Holes sketch.
Bests for me were Calfornians, Anthony Crispino, and oddly the Acupuncture thing.
I have a TiVo HD with an external WD DVR expander (wd10000f032). Today I turned on my TV and saw the orange "Welcome! Powering up..." screen, and it wouldn't get past that screen. Restarted several times, tried to get kickstart going, no joy. I disconnected the expander and restarted, and this time I got past "Welcome! Powering up..." and the next screen ("Almost there...") before getting the screen asking me to confirm that I wanted to remove my external drive and lose my recordings.
What I want is a) to confirm my conclusion that this means my issue is a failing WD expander and not the internal drive, and b) to see if there is some way to recover the expander - the whole drive if possible (maybe some diagnostic tool that fixes the drive or marks the bad sectors as off limits or something), but at least the recordings on it.
More info - when the expander starts up the circles glow orange like normal, but I hear a noise that it repeats three or four times. The pattern is a buzzing for about a second, followed by a quick buzz at a higher pitch (makes me think the drive arm/head/whatever moves from one side to the other at one speed, then goes back at a faster speed - it sounds like a stepper motor). Like I said, it does this three or four times when the drive starts. When I restarted the TiVo with the drive plugged in, it also repeated the pattern of buzzes after the "Welcome..." screen appeared.

Another excellent episode.
I currently have four active premiers. I just activated the fourth about a week ago, replacing a Series2 device in my living room. When I began using this device I noticed that my bedroom Tivo was accessible via Multi-Room viewing. I was aware that MRV was able to be disabled from my account at Tivo.com and went there and attempted to disable this feature. The changes didn't take and now three of my Tivos are able to accessed by each other. The fourth shows that it is not in the acount.
What I'm getting at, is there are programs on my bedroom Tivo that I don't want to be seen from the living room or my kids rooms. I called customer support and a tech tried to help but could not do so. He had no answer for me except to suggest I turn on parental controls on the other devices. This suggestion is useless as my kids are 17 & 19 and mature enough to watch whatever they please. They just don't need to know what Mom & Dad are watching.
Is anyone else having this issue? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I hadn't even realized Breaking Amish was renewed (I had seen a few eps, then culled it in a space-needing frenzy, but kept the SP knowing it would probably be rerun a lot)...
There's a marathon on right now, but the new season premieres tomorrow.. under a different name.. I found that out because they put a bug on saying something like "DVR owners, update your recording to the new name"..
Breaking Amish: Brave New World
is the spinoff/new season..
Does anyone know if:
working,or down, because I am trying to activate, but, after putting in the Tivo # and my info,I get an error msg, that basically says:
hmmm....that page is not here,or has moved..."
The PBS documentary on Jake Shimabukuro is pretty interesting.
Jake stumbled into international ukelele stardom from an anonymously posted YouTube video. The documentary would be better with more music and less talk, but you can find lots of his performances on YouTube, including an entire 77 minute concert + Q&A session recorded at Google.
He gets sounds from a ukelele that you never guess possible.
I paid for a "lifetime subscription" TCD540040 with a Maxtor HD date of manufacture 2004 that failed the seatools long test- bad sectors. Attempts at using Spinrite v6.0 failed to get the drive to run again using level 2 and level 4 utilities. I have some old hard drives lying around and would like to get the unit up and running again without dropping $99 bucks on a new HD or $38 bucks on software.
Is it possible (legally) to obtain the image such that an off-the-shelf HD can run in the 540040 and if so, where would one find the software.
Looks like Amazon is now direct selling the Mini for $88 with free shipping. Not an earth shattering adjustment but interesting to see it happen this quickly. I suspect demand might be low for the Mini.
The challenges of the You Tube TiVo interface go forward as do the challenges of the You Tube web page configuration. Despite that, I've logged in online and added a couple of items to my Favorites. Now, is there a way to fast forward?
I'm used to watching recorded programs, where I can not only skip ads, but also skip parts I'm not interested in. Most of the arrows and choices I'm trying with You Tube take me to beginnings/endings/new menus ...
Ideas for something like the 30 second skip or the fast and faster forwards?
And is there a way to delete a Favorite from TiVo? I'm going back to online to delete.
I'm guessing we might be better off next season doing just one thread for the whole season, as these don't seem to get much traction.
Norman getting into taxidermy cracks me up. I guess it's the foreshadowing of him stuffing his mom (as in the movie). I'm sure Norma is going to love it when Norman brings that dog home.
The guy that plays Emma's dad reminds me of an American actor and it was jolting to hear the accent. I thought, 'man, he does that accent well'. Then, doing some googling, I realized it wasn't the guy I thought it was. It's the guy who played Professor Quirrell in the first Harry Potter movie. :o
So, Norma was going off to change, rather than get the trimmers their rooms. That just seemed odd to me. It wouldn't take them long to get out of the van, so they'd have to wait. Of course, it's all about Norma, so that isn't surprising. I did like the fact that she was trying to reach out to her other son a bit. You could see he had such conflicting emotions going on about that. Probably good that she didn't check them in, though, because next episode, the place will be crawling with cops.
Speaking of, Norma just doesn't know when to quit. They had her looking completely out of control this episode (I guess to make the psychologist correct). Going to the sheriff to get him to back her in the election seemed oddly out of character. I wonder what his deal is, how he plays into all this stuff.
We hear that Gil has a big boss. So, another layer of bad guys.
I wonder about the dude working "for" Dylan. He gave Dylan a recommendation to not take the trimmer guy in the van. Dylan was probably smart to ignore that recommendation, as he couldn't know the guy's motivation. Dumping him later could be bad, depending on how well this guy 'trims'. However, Dylan asserting his authority when he did is good for the other trimmers, as they will now see Dylan as an authority, as well as the guy who works for Dylan. Dylan blindly following him is a bad idea if he wants to have any sort of control.
So, Shelby's autopsied corpse on the bed - that was a shocker. Did the guy from room 9 dig up the corpse? Had Shelby not been buried yet? Norma is just an idiot. Following the guy just seems like a bad idea. I'm guessing room 9 guy is looking for the journal that Norman has.
NBC also announced Friday that it has axed its news magazine “Rock Center with Brian Williams,” as well as “Go On,” a rookie comedy starring Matthew Perry that had a promising start before its ratings collapsed.
On Thursday, the network said it is canceling fellow rookie comedies “Up All Night,” “Guys with Kids” and “1600 Penn.”
Sorry to see Go On didn't make it. I liked it. No regrets on any of the others. Really glad to see that Whitney got the axe.
Okay, my issue is sort of Tivo related, but not exactly........... I am posting this here because I trust the knowledge of the people on this website more than anywhere else, so here goes :)
Previously, I had a Dell dual core computer with 64 bit Windows 7 and a good Nvidia video card. I could take my high definition Tivo recorded content and convert these files into mpegs and this old PC could play those files easily.
I recently bought a new quad core computer with windows 8. It is supposed to be much more powerful than the old PC. However, the new one has difficulty playing the exact same files that the old computer was able to handle easily. The new PC gives me jitter.
I have tried to figure this out through the process of elimination....
1 - the video card on the new machine is a Radeon 7770. When I first started using this new PC, the driver that was installed was from september 2012. I updated the driver to the april 2013 release from the manufacturer website. This did not fix the problem.
2 - I have tried putting the HD files on various different hard drives. I have tried playing them on an internal drive and also a couple of different external drives. This did not fix the problem.
3 - I have tried a couple of different video players(MPCHC, VLC, etc.). This did not fix the problem.
I am having a couple of other problems with this new PC. But I would like to tackle this issue that I just described here first.
Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions?
I've been trying to hook up a new tivo premiere this evening and the acquiring channels is stuck on 75%. After doing some reading I'm beginning to wonder what I've gotten myself into. These cablecards sound like a monumental pain in the @ss. And it doesn't help that most service providers seem clueless on how to to get these thing going....or purposefully act like they don't. So anyway, from what I can tell my cablecard is paired. The guy on the phone says it does show paired on his end. He can send it a signal and it did something so he can talk to it. He gave me the usual line of maybe it just needs some time to acquire channels. Yah right, I'm going to get up in the morning and its still going to be sitting at 75%. I've done some reading and I keep seeing mentioned "Con:" and the "Val:" field under the conditional access screen on the cable card. It's says "No" on my screen by Con and the Val field says "V 0x28". From my understanding the V in the Val field is a good thing but the No in the Con is obviously not right. Can somebody give some help on what is going on and maybe give me some things to point out to the knuckleheads at my cable provider when I call them tomorrow for the third time. I can already see where this is heading. They won't get it solved over the phone and are going to charge me $35 for some other knucklehead to come out and after a few hours MAYBE get it going. Thanks.
