Hi, my parents pretty much only watch one local channel (26-1).
I connected a Comcast coaxial cable directly to the Seiki 22" LED TV, which has a digital tuner.
I did a channel scan and it picks up channel 26-1 and my parents are able to watch the channel.
We canceled Comcast (no more Comcast service), but are able to pick up channel 26-1 using the coaxial cable.
Now I am trying to connect a Tivo Series 2.
I connected the Comcast coaxial cable to the top coaxial connection on the back of the tivo. I also connected the red/white/yellow cables from the TV to the back of the tivo.
I ran guided setup using the various options of "antenna", "cable", "satellite" and I don't get any video, only black screen.
Any ideas? Thank you.
Here is my set up.
I have 2 XL4's, one Tivo HD, and 1 Roamio Pro. They all connect to each other, to the network and handle room to room transfers well.
I just bought a new Roamio from TiVo.com It was delivered on Tuesday. I installed it on Tuesday, activated my new unit on TiVo.com, and paired the cable card on Tuesday. Waiting 24 hours, Wednesday night, I forced a connection on all my units and afterwards I restarted all units. I then went on TiVo.com and used the season pass manager to transfer passes to the new Roamio. (it worked great).
1 XL4 wired connection (signal strength 100%)
1 XL4 connected wirelessly (signal strength 82%)
1 Roamio connected wirelessly (signal strength 77%)
New Roamio connected wirelessly (signal strength 24%)
The new Roamio can "see" the other TiVo's in the network under "My Shows", but they are "orange exclamation point" "!"... and gives me a "cant connect c423 error". I called TiVo and they forced a connection to all my units on their end, and said to call back in 30 minutes. I went to sleep.
10 hours later - still the same problem. Before I call tech support, does anyone have a suggestion on how to resolve this?
I just checked my wireless signal on the Roamio settings - it is at 24 % (marginal). even though its 3 feet from the router ?? Would that be the cause of the issue?
I know I can use 2 Minis with one Roamio. But is it possible to use 2 Roamios with 1 Mini?
I generally don't buy extended warranties, as they're a waste of money. But with $1000 in my Roamio and Mini, and a hope of using them for the next 4+ years, should I get the TiVo warranty? I've got another week or two before the month is up. But I haven't had time to read its details and understand what it offers and if there's fine print that makes it a particularly good or bad value.
Im going to pick up the roamio basic. none of the plus roamio features interest me and the smaller form factor of basic appeals to me and i assume its more quiet with an internal fan which is important to me. The only thing that bums me out is no integrated moca and no gigabit Ethernet. I could care less about wifi. Wish they had used moca instead and this would have been almost perfect roamio. Slower ethernet port means transfering shows to and from pc will take about %30 longer as i remember reading. Guess i can live with that. Ofcoarse the ability to recrd ota is gravy even though it sucks not being able to record ota & cable at the same time. I have a spare 2 TB drive ill be throwing in this thing. I just am waiting for a sale. If i wanna buy lifetime buying at bestbuy seems the only way to get a valid warranty since ill be upgrading my harddrive is that right? Since there's currently no sales anywhere maybe ill just grab roamio from bestbuy now with warranty since there currently offering x3 times reward points. Hopefully i can get a good price on my xl4 with lifetime.
What the heck happened to Judd? He apparently had some sort of mental breakdown once Spencer told him that he would put him up if McCrae won the PoV. Nothing he said or did in this episode made any sense whatsoever. I've always liked the guy, but he really came off looking like a complete buffoon tonight.
Andy continued to prove why he is by far the most deserving of the win. He was literally never even on Spencer's radar as far as being the replacement nominee. He also won the most important HoH of the season, guaranteeing a spot in the final three. Like I said before, if he makes it to the final two, it's in the bag. :)
So I got a Roamio with 4 tuners.
I am with Comcast and got a M-card.
Took some time to figure it out but got it paired.
Now I can watch TV.
Now the problem:
The channels are all over the place. To get my local (ch 2) it's on 702.
I called TIVO and asked how to get channel 2 on channel 2.
Tivo rep said it can not be done.
If I want to watch channel 2 go to 702. Channel 7 is on 707 etc.
This doesn't sound right to me, does everyone have this problem?
I ask if anyone complained about this and he said never, I was the first.
I had Dish before and channel 2 was channel 2.
Anyone else experiencing the issue that Tivo can not activate Roamio's right now? I called last night to ask a few questions and decided to active a new Roamio while I was on the phone with them.
Paid for lifetime and then was told afterwards Tivo was having issues activating Roamio's and it should be resolved within 12 hrs and all should be good.
Well no activation this afternoon and called them again tonight and found no one could find my paperwork and that activation is having issues and it will be several days now before activation of Roamio's can take place!
I forced a connection on one of my Roamio Pros this evening, and it downloaded an update. After the reboot and install, it shows version 184.108.40.206. I don't see anything different.... anyone else get this version? Any idea what the update is for?
I am going crazy here. Have two new Roamio Pro. I want to create a MOCA connection.
Pro number 1 is the one next to the router and Pro 2 will be in the living room far away from any ethernet connection.
Pro 1 is properly connected, coaxial and ethernet.
I select Network, Change network settings and Use this dvr to create a MOCA network. I select "yes, turn on MOCA" then I use the suggested settings. I select "get ip automatically (typical) and I get the message
"The DVR will begin using your new network settings".
When I select continue I see under "Network connections details"
Type: Ethernet connection
That is all i see. I tried this so many times. I replaced two XL elite and there was no problem with my MOCA connections. So the splitters and cables are not the problem.
I also remember that the type of connection it used to said when I bridge one of the elites was
Ethernet + Moca
Here I don't see that. Maybe is enable and the Roamios does not mention the + MOCA part anymore?
I used the other Roamio Pro with the same results. Called Tivo Tech support and we were on the phone for about two hours. No luck.
Was told to "clear and delete everything" but I am not sure i want to go that route. I am afraid it will un-pair my cable cards and will have another hard time pairing them again. Really hard time.
I will apreaciate any help regarding this matter. For those so you that have a Roamio Pro setup as a moca/bridge, can you please let me know if your pro mention ethernet + moca in the connection settings?
Thank you in advance for the help
Big Brother will be shown on WLNY-55 TV this Thursday at 9pm. Jets football will be on WCBS.
It is channel 55 on FIOS and 10 on Cablevision (not all systems). Not sure what channel it is on with the other systems in the NYC Metro area.
Cartoon Network changed the name on us.
New season starts September 19, 2013.
I bought the Basic to record both OTA and get Amazon HD TV shows because of the excellent PQ.
Since starting this two weeks ago, I regularly see some pixellation at times with playback, granted its minor and not often throughout the show. The other problem is, out of about 15 shows watch, 2 have been corrupted and locked up part of the way through. This is not huge, because I just get on chat and Amazon will force a new download that ends up playing back fine.
Im not sure if this has been common, or is just a Roamio bug. Resolution has nothing to do with it, because itll happen at the same point every time regardless of settings, and since a new fine will play fine, it leads me to believe its a tivo issue either when it writes it to the drive, or when it plays it back.
Just wondering if anyone is seeing this, or if its been a problem on other models?
I am removing my external hard drive and resetting my Premiere. Its been on the removing hard drive screen for about an 1 1/2 hours. Is this normal. How long should it take?
I have an S3 OLED which I was just able to recover from a GSOD loop situation.
My shows were all there and it connected and fully downloaded the guide data.
However it doesn't show any shows as recording in the todo list and when I view upcoming episodes, nothing shows up.
I think this is due to tivo still running GC and Indexing on the large 2 week set of data it downloaded, but I am not sure. Possibly something I did to resolve the GSOD loop messed things up.
I always thought it did the GC/Indexing as the last step of the connect to the mothership (ie "Loading"), but the System Information page says
Guide View Cache:
Cache To: Thurdsay December 31 4:00 pm
Status: Running, since...
Wednesday September 11 12:05 pm
My other S3 OLED says "Idle, since..."
It is a little disconcerting right now because nothing shows up as recording in the todo list and nothing shows up under view upcoming episodes, even though there is guide data for 13 days. While I think this is all because the GC/Indexing isn't done yet, I'm not sure if that is just a red-herring and I messed something else up. Also even if just takes a while, I'm not sure if it'll get done before 8pm primetime hits and it needs to record stuff.
I've read about other units having trouble with indexing guide data forcing their owners to manually force the indexing. Hopefully that isn't the situation here.
Now that the roamio is out, has there been any firesale clearance on the tivo premieres anywhere? I bought a $49 tivo premiere last year when the elite was rebranded to xl4. Looking for similar deal
I have a Roamio Pro and no Mini yet. I know the Mini has DTA now to release the tuner when not in use.
So if on the Mini, I turn on my TV and tell it to tune to live tv and a particular channel, then I shut my TV off, but do NOT put the Mini in Standby (since I don't believe there is an off?), what happens?
1) Will the Roamio tuner continue to be on live tv and tuned to the channel I previously set (so when I power the TV back on live TV will be playing)?
2) Will it somehow realize I am no longer watching TV and it releases the tuner (bringing me back to the start / Tivo Central page)?
How do I delete the recorded show I am watching?
On my FiOS DVR this is easy, play stop delete.
On Roamio this is difficult, play tivo recordings find what I was watching delete.
Surely there must be an easier way?
I have a Roamio Pro and am a Cablevision subscriber on Long Island.
They seem to only support NDS cards.
I sporadically/periodically/randomly/often receive V58 errors when changing channels. And I'll often go to watch a recorded show only to find a black screen.
What is wrong? What can I do?
I can change the channel a few times and the it will eventually come back.
