New Roamio Plus owner. I have my season passes set to record new only but the To Do list shows scheduled recordings for shows we watched in the previous weeks. 12 repeats were recorded the first full day we had the Roamio. Anyone know why?
Happy National Coffee Day, have another cup on us. And while you are drinking that cup odds are you are tuned to CBS or Fox News Channel! Based on a recent study of TiVo Research and Analytics data, heavy coffee purchasers tend to watch a disproportionate amount of those two networks in primetime. Specifically java aficionados are tuned to Elementary, 60 Minutes and Big Brother on the eye network. Other broadcast fare includes Grimm (hopefully its decaf!), The Middle and Family Guy. On the cable front, along with their cup Continue Reading

I enjoyed the cold opening...
"If I'm such a loser, why do I have health insurance?" :p
I loved Aaron Paul's appearances...
Obama: Here's Jesse from New Mexico:
"I had a friend who had lung cancer and didn't have good health insurance, so he did what any of us would do...he started cooking meth...then it wasn't just meth, it was murder...."
Obama: Um...that's enough...
Jesse: Don't you want to know how it ends?
Everyone: NOOOOO!!!!!! :D:D:D
Then he was "Drunk Uncle's" "Meth Nephew" ;)
Tina Fey's "pep talk" to Cecily Strong on "WU" was pretty darn funny...and creepy...she walks that line so well...
The Meth e-cigarette was hilarious-"I can smoke in my favorite restaurant"
"You are in my house and you're butt-nekked!"
Good featuring of the new cast-some good-looking dudes in there! ;)
Since upgrading the Premiere to the Roamio, I no longer follow the Premiere forum (I am sure I am not alone). And the thread for the survey is there, not here.
New survey came out today. TiVo is very interested in the feedback about the new Roamio (good and bad). They want to know when/how we watch TV especially how we find what to watch.
Hi, I bought a Synology Ds-413 NAS.
Can any one point me to a thread or help me to install pyTivo on my server.
I have installed Windows over a thousand times so I am somewhat computer literate. All the way back to DOS and windows 3.1, but I have NO experience with Linux. In that way I am a total newby.
So if any one can tell me what to do and in what order it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx in advance
I have 3 Tivos, the one I use the most is an Elite. I like how you can Play from the beginning or resume playing.
My wife and I are on different schedules, I work midnights and she is on days. We watch some of the same shows.
What would be more useful is if I could watch a show and stop and leave it, and when she watches it she could stop and leave mine intact.
Basically be able to have 2 people watch the same show to different points and stop and save it at 2 different points.:up::up::up:
Only 1 person can watch a recording or controls it, it would be nice if 2 or more could watch the same show and pick up where they left off
If you implement this a check or a new Roamio would be appreciated
A sorta "tivo culture" question: Is it likely that tivo will slightly modify their hardware if they see issues/features they'd like to fix/add and can't do with the current hardware?
I suspect not, but thought I'd ask before I get my Roamio pro. I can likely last a few month more with my failing HD series 3 which is getting glitches (random reboots) so would do so if there is any chance of a HW mod.
I've noticed this on CBS with the start of the new season.
Pretty much every single episode has one of the main characters say the line "Next week on <Name of Show>...." and then they run their regular preview clip.
It keeps coming across as weird and jarring, like some flashback to the '70s, and then even weirder, the preview is just their regular, modern preview so it will ALSO usually say "Next week" or "Next time" or something, as though they were made before the little soundbites.
So---what's up with that? It seems to be policy for EVERY CBS show I've watched this season. It really adds nothing (and is redundant to the preview itself) and I'm finding it really distracting and annoying. It's like I can hear the CBS execs saying to the actors, "You have a contract with us now----DANCE for us, monkey!"
Brand new. I received it with the Mini Wall Mount Kit, and I don't need it.
TiVo.com price: $15.00.
I'll take the same and ship it to you free. PayPal ONLY.
PM ME IF INTERESTED.
As of September 2013, Verizon is now charging $5/month for each CableCARD. Absolute highway robbery!
Optimum (Cablevision), my previous cable provider only charged $2 per card. Comcast customers get their first card free of charge and second card at a subsidized cost if its for use in the Series3. Meanwhile Verizon customers with S3 are getting screwed over and now paying $10 per month, QUADRUPLE what a Comcast customer pays to operate an original Series3 OLED.
What can be done about this? Aren't FCC rules and regulations in place to ensure cable companies don't engage in this kind of unethical price gauging aimed at discouraging use of third party hardware??
I am having an ongoing issue with my Tivo Romeo Pro tuning in certain premium and premium HD channels on Charter Rancho Cucamonga's switched digital system.
Additionally I am only able to record 4 shows, not 6 at a time.
My CableCARD is Cisco and the firmware is OS Ver: PKEY1.5.2_F.p.1601
Charter has been out over a half dozen times and switched out the CableCARD and Cisco Tuning Adapter over and over again.
When everything is rebooted I get all of the channels but within 20 minutes they start dropping. Even the ones that seem stable, can randomly drop and I end up with a recording of a black screen.
Charter is blaming Tivo.
How can I have resolve this ASAP?
I believe someone mentioned within the past few months that they saw a demonstration at one of the trade shows for streaming TiVo content to a Web browser on a PC. Is anyone aware of plans for TiVo to actually make this available? This would save me the expense of an HD HomeRun (plus Comcast's additional outlet fee & CableCARD) so I could watch broadcast TV on my PC. (Comcast recently encrypted ALL channels in my area which renders the clear QAM tuner card in my PC useless.)
(This would be streaming content from a Roamio Plus/Pro.)
This past week I've had three instances where my Roamio Plus with upgraded 3TB hard drive has failed to record a show due to the show being 'no longer in guide' according to the Tivo history. I am on Comcast in Salt Lake City, UT.
The three instances this week were:
Tues 9/24 New Girl at 8pm on channel 655 (FOX). It was aired as my recording for The Mindy Project following New Girl recorded properly and had the end of New Girl on it due to padding.
Wed 9/25 Top Chef Masters at 8pm on channel 707 (Bravo). A later airing was a recorded. A lineup change for this channel did occur on 9/17 - the guide info was for the East Coast feed originally while I receive the west feed. This probably explains this issue.
Thurs 9/26 The Michael J Fox Show at 8:30 on channel 653 (NBC). The episode at 8pm recorded properly. A repeat of the episode was recorded on Fri 9/27. When I look back at the guide data the 8:30 episode shows up, so no idea why it didn't record.
Any thoughts on why this might have happened? I never saw this in my 3 years with my Premiere.
I like the mini, but it doesn't work with my Media Share (pytivo) - this is something I am hoping TiVo will eventually fix.
I installed the Mini yesterday and immediately noticed that I cannot access my video library with it.
That didn't necessarily surprise me, neither pyTiVo nor TiVo desktop support MRS and the Mini doesn't have local space for a transfer. But it is still a little disappointing. I am hoping that TiVo will provide some future solution.
- Automatically Initiate an MRV transfer onto the host device, or
- allow MRS using the TiVo desktop solution, or
- create a new local streaming app using the Opera HTML5 App Store.
I have Roamio Plus and 3 Mini's. I've found that when I turn the TV off that's connected to my Roamio the Mini looses connection to the Roamio, an error message is displayed. If I go back to the Tivo Menu the Mini is still connected to the Roamio as I can view the recorded shows and watch/stream the Live TV.
I have MoCa bridge set on my Roamio with connection to my LG SmartTV so maybe when the TV turns off it's funkin' up the connection. Anyone else encountering this?
my folks have decided to get a tivo with OTA. I"m looking at the base S5 with lifetime.
I don't see why i couldn't buy it under my account & get the multi service discount for a total of $600. Activate it at my home & do the first service update/set up so i can get it sorted correctly 'cuz face it- my folks are not the most technically inclined. Then give it to my folks.
is there any reason why this isn't ok? Billing wise or technical wise?
I have the Roamio Plus, and was tapping the "Live TV" button this morning to switch between tuners, just to make sure they were all working. Five of the tuners work fine, but the sixth tuner gives me a "Channel not authorized" message, even for channels that I know I have. I tried this with 3 or 4 different channels.
Is this because of the Mini I have in the house? Will the Mini hold onto that tuner in a situation like this, where it isn't essential to the Roamio? We last watched that Mini before bed last night. It's fine if it is, but I want to make sure that my Roamio isn't defective.
Can someone tell me the proper way to hook up a cable modem, tuning adapter, and tivo using the same outlet.
I recently moved the cable modem/router from one room to the same room as the roamio. I had very few problem with tuning problems with the cable modem in another room, now with it on the same outlet I am receiving quite a few more tuning issues.
It comes out of the wall into a two way splitter. One end goes into the tuning adapter and uses the pass though to go to the Tivo. The other end is going into the cable modem/router.
Is that the correct way or am I missing something?
This seems to be so simple, but it's got me scratching my head. First, let me preface this by saying I have 1 Roamio Plus and 3 Mini's currently working on my MoCa network. I have Comcast and have a MoCa adapter connected to my modem and router. I have my Roamio connected via coax on separate floor. The Mini's are scattered throughout the rest of the house connected by coax / MoCa connection. These are all working fine, streaming to the Mini's.
So here's what's troubling me. I wanted to split the coax at my Mini in the basement so I could connect my SmartTV via ethernet (hard wire) instead of wireless. I installed a splitter at the coax coming out of the wall. I then connected the coax from splitter to my Mini. The Mini is then unable to get a MoCa connection. I can't think of any reason why a coax line now running to the Mini and getting a MoCa connection is unable to get a MoCa connection after putting in the splitter.
I've tried connections at other coax connections coming directly from the wall to my other Mini's and same issue, no MoCa connectivity. I've also tried a different splitter as well as a different coax cable.
Seems this should be simple to just put a splitter in and maintain the MoCa connectivity. So I'm looking for ideas as to why and how to resolve this.
What's TCF without a Big Bang Theory thread?
