I'm enjoying the latest version of the iPad app. Even with my Series 3, there's a lot of funtionality. However, when setting season passes, it chooses the lowest available channel regardless of what's selected in the pull down.
For example, I'm on Charter and NBC is at 705. I also have an antenna so it is also available at 5.1. Attempting to set a season pass, the app will select 5.1 everytime instead of the cable equivilant.
Is this a known "feature" or is there a nut loose on the keyboard?
This has happen to me a couple of times in the last 2 weeks. I'll be watching a recorded program. In about 10 or 15 minutes into the program I would hit rewind to check something that I missed, Then I guess I missed the play and hit FF or skip but the tivo started the program over. When this happens I can not FF or skip to where I left off. Pressing zoom does not work or restarting the program helps
Would any know what is happening?
I did not want to let the TV critics/reviewers skew my opinion of this show, and I was looking forward to this one. As a big fan of "Dexter", I was hoping for this to be a different spin on a likable serial killer (if he can generate a following).
Gotta' say that I was disappointed. :( Too many stereotypical tropes
used, such as the quiet moments interrupted by extremely loud SFX and bursts of music. The story was formulaic and the suspense was predictable.
That said, I will give it a few more episodes to see if I can be persuaded to stick with it, but the writing is NOTHING like that on "Justified" or "Breaking Bad", where they do not rely on shockingly loud SFX to get a reaction out of the audience.
I did, however, like the more subtle heartbeat SFX when Kevin Bacon's character's (Ryan Hardy) pacemaker was working overtime. Very "Tell-Tale Heart", which was my favorite Poe story.
I tried to upgrade my Premiere HD from a 1T drive to a 2T drive and didn't quite get it right. I'm hoping for a suggestion here to keep from having to go back to an older hard drive.
The version of JMFS that I have been using is 1.04. Both drives are WD AV drives and the new one did not require the parking disabling.
I work with Windows PCs daily and know them fairly well. I know very little about Linux and that has limited my options.
I tried to be clever (my big error!) and used my hard disk duplicator to image the 1T to the 2T drive. My (erroneous) assumption was that I could do the Expand after that copy.
I was short of time (too many household members grumbling about TiVo being down), so I threw the 2T drive in the system after the imaging and figured I would do the Expand later. Another bad choice.
The 2T drive works just fine, but only has 1T total capacity. That's what I expected after the imaging.
Eventually, I removed the 2T drive and tried to do the Expand. The software said that it failed. The numbers that it gave for disk size made it clear that it was only looking at about 1T of disk space.
My next "clever" trick was to try to copy the 2T drive to a 1.5T drive that I had on hand (I didn't have a spare 2T). JMFS objected that the source drive was smaller than the source, but I told it to go ahead. I figured that the 2T drive was only partitioned out to 1T, so it should fit. The copy ended with an error (it ran out of space), but the 1.5T drive seemed to work fine in the TiVo. It booted just fine and I was able to retrieve a random assortment of recordings that I had.
I tried doing the Expand on the 1.5T and got the same sort of error as I did with the 2T drive. Just as a test, I tried running Supersize. It claimed to work without error, but Expand still wouldn't work. I put the 2T back in the TiVo.
As a test, I used JMFS to copy the original 1T drive to the 1.5T. It too 6-8 hours (?), but ended without error. I told it to do the Expand and it completed without error. I never tested this drive, but I am assuming that this process worked properly. If only I had not been "clever" with the disk imager originally!
So..... as I see it, I have two solutions if I want the 2T to work. One is to start over, copy from the 1T to my 2T, and lose the last month or two of recordings. (It has been that long since I started this process.) With my video provider (Frontier), it seems that nearly everything that I record is protected, so I can't just copy these programs over to my other TiVo.
My hope is that there is some clever person here who can tell me some commands to execute on the 2T drive that will allow it to Expand to use the full drive. (Yeah... and I hope to win the Lottery!)
I can recopy to the 1.5T and try any suggestions with little risk. If I can Expand the 1.5T from 1T to the full 1.5T then I would expect to have no problem copying it back to the 2T and expanding it there.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer constructive suggestions on this.
Sometimes when using kmttg it will say it cant schedule a recording due to a conflict even though one does not exist. If I change from until I delete to space needed it will usually schedule it. I will get a JSON Object duration error
I have been using kmttg for awhile now on Windows and it works great. I used Videoredo to check the cuts that comskip made since it is not 100% accurate before saving as mpg. I just moved to OS X and was wondering if there is a similar program? I know ProjectX comes with kmttg but for the life of me I cant figure out how to use the GUI to verify and change the cuts comskip makes before exporting to mpg. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I wanted to see if there was an issue streaming downloaded movies that are in 1080i or blueray format.
I use PYtivo to stream from the PC but always seem to notice that TIVO will only stream these movies in 480i. My TV is less than a year old and supports all the way up to 1080i and p. I looked in Tivo settings and it said it supported everything as well.
Any thoughts as to why it will only stream these movies in 480i?
I am looking at building an XBMC box. I'd rather not. I'd rather just have my TiVo do everything that XBMC can do. I'd love for it to stream my DVD rips on my NAS.
I love Tivo and have used it for a long time. I've upgrade most of my devices to 5Ghz N Wifi and nothing is wired now. So why can't I get TiVo devices that use 5Ghz N cards?
I can get 38MB down when I use my 5Ghz WIFI network (which is just as good as 40MB MoCA). I previewed the mini and again, I see a device that Tivo chose a design that requires wires. WHY? Tivo, I love you, but I'm giving you up if I have to put holes in my walls, it's ridiculous. The person within your R&D group that is choosing wired technologies over wireless needs to have their head examined.
I just replaced my hard wired TP with a TP-4 and saw that my router now said the connection speed was 1Gb/s, I put back the TP and the reported speed went back down to 100Mb/s, so I will guess TiVo upgraded the Ethernet speed with the TP-4, don't know if this applies to the TPXL-4
Last October (2012) I upgraded a TP with a TP-4 and moved all the Season passes without problems, I just upgraded another TP with a new TP-4 and tried to move the Season passes but I had a problem this time, the Season passes that had upcoming programs moved without problems but any Season passes that had no upcoming program moved over with a problem, the Season pass said corrupted-delete me (ch #). The channel number was correct. I deleted all the so called corrupted ones than tried to move one Season pass that I know is coming back on HBO this spring Newsroom, I got the same error.
I would like someone with two TPs to try to move one Season pass that has no upcoming programing to another TP and see if you get the same error (using the HDUI system) so I can tell the it is just my TiVo web problem or is this a TiVo system wide problem.
I also found out that the Season pass manager does not work with IE 10, but does works with Firefox. (With IE10 you can't reorder the Season passes)
Thanks for any help you can give me.
When I search for shows on my Tivo or the tivo.com website, the resulting list has every match for that show or type of show. In some cases, there can be thousands of duplicates. For example, if I search for Movies, I'll see a list like this:
1/10 The Fog 10:00 am Channel 15
1/10 The Fog 10:00 am Channel 225
1/10 The Fog 10:00 am Channel 1220
1/10 Turtles 11:00 am Channel 17
1/10 The Fog 11:15 am Channel 22
1/10 Turtles 11:30 Channel 219
There will be lots of duplicates as the same movie is shown on several channels and at several times. It's cumbersome to browse through when I'm looking for movies to be recorded. What I instead would prefer is just a list of all matching titles with duplicates removed. So instead I would like to just see:
And then I can click on the show I want to see all the available times when that show is being broadcast.
Is there anything like this anywhere? It doesn't have to be on Tivo or the tivo.com website. I would gladly use another website to find the shows I'm interested in and then enter the specific showtimes into Tivo to be recorded.
ETA: Are there places for me to search and download the whole list as a text file? I can sort it myself. I would want the whole list (all X days) and not just the one page of results (e.g only the first 5 results)
I just got caught up... and there's no threads for the past couple of weeks? :(
Barbara Hershey is a GREAT actress... I am completely buying her reunion story, even though I know it won't work. :)
Henry opened a Sam's-Club-sized can o' worms with his revelation that Dr Frankenstein isn't in the story book, so who knows WHO could be in the town?!
I'm trying to figure out where this season is headed. We now have all of the known major players in Storybrooke. But Rumpel and Emma are headed to DCish (maybe Pennsylvania?), though the Cora and Regina Reunion Sobfest may put the kibosh on that.
Things seem to be running an hour earlier than the schedule indicates. For instance, ST V is supposed to still be on with ST VI scheduled to start at 3PM EST. In reality , ST VI started at 2PM EST.
...with a Mastercard and this coupon: http://image.emailinfo2.bestbuy.com/...upon_final.pdf
its a $50 off of $100 or more when you use the coupon and a mastercard. so you can use it on anything that is not in the fine print.
got it from here: http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/8817...t+Frontpage%29
the best buy sales idiots refused to take it because they said it was fake, its not from best buy (although its from bestbuy.com), they've never seen it, you know the drill. so i went to the store manager and he rung it up the right way.
got the tivo stream for $85.
I will be switching to a new cable/Internet provider shortly. Since I need my Internet connection to run Guided Setup again when making this switch, I'm seeking advice from others who may have undertaken this kind of change as to when I should re-run Guided Setup.
Should I do it while I still have my old Internet connection in place, before the installer arrives? Or will I be safe waiting until after both my new Internet and cable connections are wrapped up? I'm assuming that I can confirm operation of the new CableCARDs merely by tuning some of the new channel numbers if I haven't re-run it yet, should the installer need to see that as a measure of success.
Also, any suggestions as to how long it should take for most of my guide data and SPs to get updated?
Thanks for any insights.

I am watching on NBC. Anyone else watching? Who has the best coverage?
I upgraded to a Premier and deactivated my S3. Now I want to reactivate my S3. I had a DVR extender on my S3 which had been giving me issues, so when I deactivated it, thinking I would not use it again, I never went through the steps to remove the DVR Extender from the S3. The Extender is long gone. Now I want to reactivate the S3 and add a new iTB Extender. I can't seem to get to the screen that allows me to install the new DVR Extender. The S3 keeps asking for the old Extender, which I do not have.
Is there a factory reset option for the S3 somewhere? I am not interested in any recording that might be on the S3.
I saw this on slickdeals.
It doesn't list TiVo so you could possibly save $50 off the Stream and get one for $79.99. It does list set top boxes as an exclusion so it might not work., but it is in store only so we won't know until someone tries.
