So I just bought a Tivo Premier after replacing my Tivo S2.
I don't subscribe to cable. I do get regular channels though Time Warner though. My building has it set up where all I have to do is plug the cable wire from the wall to my tv (or now my Tivo). I get all the regular local channels in SD & HD, plus any of the regular channels that are provided when you get OTA channels.
So I set my Tivo up and noticed that the HD channels are black. It will not receive signal. But if I switch to the antenna channels, I get the HD channels. The problem is that there is no guide or any information shown for those channels. Just the channel number.
This makes it difficult because I can not set season passes or schedule recording for any of the antenna HD channels unless I get a cable card. I have no subscription to Time Warner so there is no way i can get one.
Is there an alternative. It's really annoying. I can set them to record on the SD channels but really... I havn't looked at an SD channel since I got my HDTV a few years ago. I do not want to record in SD.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you :)
I am having two issues with my Roamio.
1. The Tivo will not maintain a constant connection with my wireless router.
2. I am receiving a V53 (signal error) occasionally on some channels. This will go away after a period of time.
I called Tivo and they said that my Signal Strength of 100 is too high, and that is the cause of the V53 and possibly the Wifi error.. They said to call Charter and tell them my signal strength is too high and to have them fix it.
I am on hold with Charter now but the person I talked to seems very confused. Does anyone have any insight on this? Is Tivo's diagnosis of the problem seemingly accurate? I am not sure how the Wifi issue could be related to signal strength....
My Router is a Cisco E4200 V2
Thanks in advance
update: The person on the phone had no idea what I was talking about, but said she would send a tech out tomorrow to look at it... I have a feeling the tech isn't going to find anything wrong and I am going to get charged $45 for the service visit...
I bought a Roamio a week or two ago to replace a Premier box. I have Comcast cable in the Seattle area.
In my Roamio, I'm unable to record or buffer at all on channel 113 (my local FOX affiliate). If I watch it for several minutes (the picture comes in just fine!) I still cannot press the instant replay button (I get the TiVo Boing sound). If I pause it for a few minutes and press play, it instantly catches me back up to live. The green bar does not fill up.
If I attempt to record on this channel, watching while recording causes it to display a black screen with something along the lines of "Recording program, press Play in a few seconds to begin."
The cable card signal and snr on this channel are fine (at least as good as others). I've tried rebooting, redoing guided setup, putting all tuners on this channel, putting only one tuner on this channel. Nothing seems to have any effect at all.
I called TiVo, they said they'd never seen this problem before, had me walk through my cable card diagnostic menus, couldn't find a problem, and then told me to get a new cable card. Comcast doesn't want to give me a new cable card (at least without wasting my time by sending out a technician), and tells me it's my Tivo boxes fault.
Should I call TiVo and insist on a replacement? Something's clearly wrong here.
This has been an on going saga for almost a month now and finally today Comcast informed me they aren't able to activate my cable card/Tivo Romio Plus. I've tried self installing 4 now and this 5th one the tech brought today. No matter what they try I'm stuck unable to change "Val: ?" The local affiliates come through just fine in SD and HD but everything else is "channel not authorized." I know this has to be fixable but I don't know how.
Any suggestions? I live on the 18th floor of a highrise and they claim the signal is too weak for the CableCARD if that means anything.....
I have a Premiere 4 and a Mini, without lifetime service. Any suggestions for a fair asking price? Thanks!
Just tried to download a show to my iPad 4 (iOS 7) from my Roamio Plus.
1st the bug:
When I started the download, it said iPad would be kept awake during download. It didn't, it went to sleep so the software is not keeping the iPad awake like it said. (iPad was plugged in)
Now the question and I'm sure I know the answer, but just asking:
Is the transfer connection between an iPad and Tivo Roamio a direct connection or are the transfers happening through the router? I'm pretty confident it's through the router but I could be wrong so I thought I'd ask.
Thanks in advance.:)
Think we'll ever see HBO go on the Roamio's ? That's the only reason I really use my Apple TV now.

When I set up a wish list item, I always set it to auto record. What happens if I don't?
does it work ok with a Tivo? is the range any better than your N? any brand or model recommendations?
What's with Amazon Instant video not playing on Tivo Mini? When you purchase a instant video it states you can play/store on up to 2 tivo units. I only have a Roamio and a mini.
Stored/downloaded to my Roamio, but not able to view on mini.
Something does not seem right about this. Am I missing something?
Thanks for any input
My remote is not working. Is there a way to change channels directly from the TIVO unit? TIVO Series 3 HD.
What a whimper of a finale.
There's so much like this, but a great example of how sad the whole season has been is when Batista and Quinn are watching the video footage of Dexter in the prison after he'd killed Vogel... hello? anybody with a brain left on the writing staff? *sigh*
So Walter White and Heisenberg are household names.
Gretchen and Elliot went on Charlie Rose and inadvertently caused Walt to come out of hiding!
Robert Forster is SO GOOD at playing that type of character.
I suppose that was Saul's exit.
Is Jesse ok?
And FINALLY, after hearing Vince and co saying for months how incredible Todd is, their hype started to pay off in this episode.
I have Tivo stream and I am trying to connect the iPad to a TV outside with a HDMI cable. The sound comes through but the Tivo app does not allow the video to display on the TV. Do I have any options to watch shows off my Tivo on this TV?
Why does TiVo prevent the transfer of protected programs THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN VIEWED? How can it be any kind of abuse to viewing restrictions to simply MOVE an UNVIEWED program to another TiVo for viewing? This is obvious and logical -- what can the counter arguement possibly be??? Those of us who suffer with TW want to know. . .
Okay...... here are the details of my situation. Can someone with knowledge please help guide me with this.
The provider for my TV and internet is Verizon FIOS. I have really fast internet service(I believe it is 50/25).
My house has coaxial connection jacks in most of the rooms(single jacks). As best I can tell, this coax infrastructure is in good condition.
My router is a newer product from Verizon. It is the MI424WR rev. I(eye). It does support wireless N, and according to the published documentation, it also does support MOCA natively.
Room A is where my router is. I would prefer NOT to have a Tivo in this room at all, if possible.
Room B is my bedroom. I would like to have a Tivo Roamio pro in this room. I am interested in using the full functionality of this product, including live netflix streaming, live Tivo to tivo streaming, and also slingbox style remote streaming(a new feature that is supposedly coming soon from Tivo).
Room C is our living room. In this room I prefer to have a Tivo premiere(the original model).
Room D is our guest room. I do not want a Tivo in this room, but I would like to put an access point there.
For my budget on this project, I am trying to stay around $300 or less.
Soooooooooo .......... where do I go from here? What equipment do I need to purchase? What is the best way to configure all of this?
I currently own the Genie/Client setup. I can play a recording or schedule a recording from the Client. They are connected via the house RG59 coax that was installed when the house was built 1977. The setup works great. Is the Tivo/Mini the identical setup/function. It appears to be but I can't tell for sure after reviewing all the specs.
