I just installed an IR remote control extender so my Tivo remote will control both my TV and my Tivo HD DVR.
I placed the IR target on the left bezel of my TV. It is secured with double backed tape already on it.
I put one of the two IR emitter buds on my TV IR sensor button and the other one on my Tivo DVR sensor button. They are secured with small round two-way clear tape.
The IR Hub sits on the same shelf as the TV.
My Tivo remote sends an IR signal to the IR target. It sends the signal to the IR Hub. The hub sends the IR signal to the two IR emitter buds which beam a signal light directly into the sensor eye of the TV and Tivo HD DVR.
It works better than the IR to RF to IR extender because I can still use my TV remote to make any changes to my TV , like turn off the internal speakers (I have a sound bar).
Also, the sound bar was blocking the TV IR sensor and I was having issues with volume control but now it doesnt matter.
For those interested it is an Infrared (IR) Remote Control Extender Kit by Shaxon (Shaxon.com). I bought it at my local Frys Electronics Store in San Diego.
I just got to the end of Season 3 on Showtime VoD. I really have enjoyed Shameless.
The biggest note is that "Karen" deserves an acting Emmy for taking her from unapologetic evil to a brain damaged emotional cripple.
I swore that kid checking the recruits on the bus looked like a clone of John Cusack. I'll bet he was Joan's son. There was no other Cusack in the credits.
In usual show runner season MO, they killed off a character in a shocker in the next to last episode, although I think they're keeping the option open to have "Jimmy" show up on the porch again about episode 3 or 4 of season 4. He'll show up just as Fiona is hanging with the boss.
My predictions: Lip does go to MIT.
Ian is of course, in the Army. Watch Mickey show up at camp.
Frank does, semi - usually - sober up. We've seen Frank lower the narcissism a touch for the first time.
Kev and V bring home the baby. Complications with Mom ensue. Maybe she doesn't want to give up the kid.
Can't wait for season 4!
How would I hook up two security cameras to a Tivo Series One DVR? Would I be able to put in a large HDD and record continuously?
I just installed a wireless 802.11ac bridge setup to two Tivos. I used two Netgear R6300 routers, one in access point mode and one in bridge mode. Connected to the bridge are a Tivo Premiere 4 and a Tivo Series 2. Additionally, I have a separate Tivo Series 2 connected via a Tivo wireless 802.11g adapter.
It all works great. Thought the performance numbers would be of general interest:
Premiere to PC: a bit over 27Mbps
Series 2 to PC (via bridge): about 10Mpbs
Series 2 to PC (via Tivo adapter): 8.5Mbps
All numbers derived by performing a kmttg transfer. The two Series 2 transfers are probably not directly comparable since the first one used 5Ghz
transfers while the second one used 2.4Ghz transfers, and I'm sure I have more interference from neighbors in 2.4Ghz range.
Unfortunately, I didn't think to test the performance of the Premiere over the 802.11n Tivo adapter it used to use before I installed the bridge.
Comments on these numbers relative to what others of you are seeing would be welcomed.
We have a Premier XL and after dealing with some of the issues with HD space (discussed here http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...d.php?t=504897
) and after searching around, we went ahead with a Clear and Delete hoping that it would get things back to some kind of normal. We started the Clear and Delete a little over 24hrs ago and it's still on the "Clearing and deleting everything... This may take up to an hour" screen. Searching around, I've seen people say that it could take over night but this is about 24hrs later. So I'm curious, will it mess the TiVo up horribly (though, at this point, I'm not sure how much worse it can get) if I just unplug it? Has anyone else (reading this message now; I know that this has happened to others) gotten stuck here? What did you do to get past it?
One thing to note, before we ran the "Clear and Delete", we deleted all the programs on the "My Shows" page. So that was some legwork that the TiVo did not have to go through.
- add HBO GO
- allow users to disable the channel lineup change pop ups
- smart tuner recording
--- if I have 4 tivo premiers I should be able to just say record this show and it records it on whatever tuner is available
--- show me all my recording from all tivos in one group
--- basically make it a mesh network of tuners and recordings
- add more commercial based recording options (commercial for new show - allow us to record show from commercial)
- no ads. We pay a lot of money. I don't want to buy bounty.
- more two way feedback from tivos for control systems (mainly guide data)
- better overlap protection - record the entire show!! Don't clip the last 2 minutes.
We've been having issues getting minis working on this network.
They see the premier 4's fine but can't connect to them. During setup when they show potential tuners they are shown with red do not enters on them.
We tried moca and gigabit Ethernet. No luck.
This is the response we got from tivo.
"The modem/router you have been provided by Verizon, the Actiontec M1424WR, does not work with Bonjour services with its default settings. Bonjour services are required for network discovery between TiVos. Please contact Verizon and/or Actiontec for additional assistance troubleshooting the modem/router. We apologize for the inconvenience."
We also tried an AirPort Extreme with double Nat. That should have taken care of the bonjour issue but did not.
When setting up the minis we initially had them on a tivo account with 13 total devices (shared with clients summer home in New Jersey which is xfinity comcast).
The first tech said it was a device count issue and max for streaming per account is 10 so we moved our 5 fios boxes to a new account.
The tivo minis mention xfinity during setup which we think might be an issue.
I noticed another thread mentioning xfinity issues and that after 30 days tivo finally realized that was the issue and resolved it.
I hope we get resolved as well but I'm hoping for the next day or two.
Any advice would be appreciated.
New USA show. Watched it last night looking for Serinda Swan ( Breakout Kings) but she wasn't listed. Depending on what site you visit, she is a series regular and credited in every episode, or she is recurring and on 3 episodes.
Good summer show.
I have two security camera that feeds thru an RF modulator into my Premiere (antenna input). Until a few days ago, it worked flawlessly. Now when I try to tune those analog channels (4 and 14, if that matters), I get "Searching for signal on this %s channel..."
Shaking my head after watching the first episode finally being aired in the US. It was really well done balancing humor, drama, and character study.
Just 3 episodes? I'm thinking I'll be pleased with the series but wanting for more. It is a nice undead lead into WWZ this summer in any case.
Do you like the new realty tv history channel more then the old documentary history channel?
not surprised there isn't a thread for this yet, not worth the bandwidth to report how terrible it is.
I am trying to transfer shows from one TiVo to another.
It is a very complicated story, but basically I am about half way through the switchover of my old TiVo's to the two new ones.
TiVo Series 2 kitchen - working
TiVo HD Living room - working
TiVo Series 2 on shelf - just reactivated so I could do this.
TiVo Premiere - new out of box - activated but no m-cable card
I transferred shows from the kitchen TiVo to my living room one.
Then, unplugged the kitchen one, and moved the living room one in there. It is now working fine in there. No issues.
Then hooked the Premiere up in the living room. It is powered up and updated, but not connected to cable. Waiting for a comcast visit.
So I have all my shows on the HD in the kitchen and Premiere in Living room.
I thought - hey, I have till saturday when the guy brings the m-card so maybe I can pull the old OLD TiVo off the shelf and get any old shows off of that.
I took the G-wireless from the premiere, hooked it up to the old series 2 and got green lights. I then restarted the HD to see if I can get them to talk to each other and show the series 2 on the Now Playing section for transfers. ( I did call TiVo and get it reactivated).
It's not showing up.
I am not sure if I have them too close to each other - on the same table. Or need to do something else with the old series 2 - it is not attached to a tv at this point. Just plugged into the wall and with the wireless - no other cable or such in it. I didn't think they would need that if it was working thru the network - but maybe it's not and I am not sure how to get it to.

My neighbors moved from Indy to ATL. Comcast has been out twice...
Tivo Premiere....3rd cable card..all the same problem.
No Channels when testing....
If I go to conditional access.....or whatever it is called I have 4 lines of code where YES YES V
After that nothing. So I know that is the problem. It's missing the rest of lines with whatever is going on. Comcast blames Tivo and Tivo blames Comcast.
Anyone see this problem and have any suggestions?
I am taking their TIVO to my house and hooking it up and asking comcast to send a ping...and see if I can rule out the Tivo. I'm hoping trying it in another home does the trick.
TV shows are constantly evolving on the quest for higher ratings, and each new episode is chock-full of surprises. Characters come and go as storylines throw curve balls your way, but the theme song remains the same, always faithful. A guaranteed staple each and every week, a good theme song expresses the essence of a show. Some, like The Brady Bunch, compose their own songs. In just under a minute, you know that you’re going to watch a story about a lovely lady, a man named Brady, and the family Continue Reading
Maybe this should go in Happy Hour but..anyway...
Since I just found out that George RR Martin was from New Joisey, and in his interview on Conan O'Brien, he said he thought a lot as a kid about those magical places across the river from Bayonne, his hometown...like Staten Island, I wonder if Game of Thrones is just GRRM's parallel universe to the Sopranos
So I have Tywin = Tony
Tyrion = Chris
Cercie = Carmela
Well you get the idea....
It's Friday, have fun with it!!
My Tivo Premier is about to lose it's drive I think. It seems to hang up occasionally on recordings, I can kick it out to live tv, fast forward (skip 15mins) past the area and then rewind to 1-2mins after the hangup and continue.
At any rate, if I get Tivo to repair it or if I get a new unit, is it possible to backup and restore settings? I don't want to re-program all my season passes and wish lists or up/down settings, etc.
We've been using Tivo Desktop for years to view our digital photo collection on our HDTV. Yesterday I did a clean install of Windows 7 on our (previously Win-XP) PC and downloaded & installed Desktop 2.8.3. (Don't remember what version we had previously.) Now, three different Tivos can see the Pictures folder but cannot open it (a "server error" message is displayed.) The same symptoms appear on a Series 2, 2DT and Premier-XL Tivo. Even more confusing, the Series 2DT Tivo sees TWO Pictures folders of the same name.
Tivo Desktop finds and correctly identifies all of the networked Tivo boxes just fine in the Troubleshooting screen.
On the Premier, the Pictures folder name is oddly corrupted with the string "\032" inserted before the directory names which are then repeated.
The PC is running the Windows7 Home Premium 64-bit version. The network connections are all hardwired through IP switch boxes to Netgear WNDR3400 router.
I have tried all the usual remedies -- restarting Tivo Desktop Server, the PC, all the Tivo boxes, etc in various combinations; switching from Bonjour to Tivo Beacon -- none of which had ANY effect whatsoever!
I am an IT professional, a Windows programmer, and a techie for over 50 years, so I usually find the solution to these things on my own. But this one is KILLING me and I can't believe I'm the only one!
Please help!!
Many Thanks in Advance,
