This Roamio search sure seems cumbersome over the series III. Two big irritations come up right away:
1. Even if I uncheck a channel (foreign) in the settings it still comes up in the program searches...unbearable.
2. Is there any way to get rid of the live stuff showing in the searches?
I search for stuff to record later not for shows that are running. After some digging I managed to figure out some of the old sort items but I can't find a way for it to not show live stuff.
I have a Series 3 and Roamio on the same Network. I am trying to get programs from the Series 3 to the Roamio. I can see the programs I want to transfer when I am in the Roamio but there is no transfer option...i can play them without a problem but can't transfer..any thoughts?
I have two TiVo HD units and one Premiere. The Premiere now has a little pop and some static after playback resumes from fast forward, rewind or pause. Anyone else have this? The two HD units do not do this and are connected through the receiver the same way as the Premiere. I use the Premiere very little as I just got it to look at the on demand stuff and it sooooooo sloooooow, the on demand and the menus.
It seems this popping is new. I don't think it was there when I first got it.
I'm looking at the TTG XML interfaces on the new Roamio's and several things don't seem to be working right --
This is even using their web interface in a browser.
1) The channel logos don't show up. I get a not available. When I go to the URL manually, I get an error saying "Resource Not Found"
2) When going to nowplaying/TiVoConnect?Command=QueryContainer&Container=%2FNowPlaying, I get the folders view. The TiVo Suggestions folder shows "130 items". When I go to the folder URL itself (/nowplaying/TiVoConnect?Command=QueryContainer&Container=%2FNowPlaying%2 F0), it says 0 items.
I see the same results trying to get the XML back - no items returned there.
Anyone else seeing this behavior? Anyone figure out how to get the icons and suggestions XML?
Initial setup went fine, although I was unable to get MoCa working over my cable connection. Ethernet works fine and I happen to have Ethernet everywhere I have cable outlets in my home, although I would prefer MoCa to save network ports and avoid interruptions if my switch or router is acting up.
(UPDATE: Found out that MoCa wasn't enabled on the Premiere XL4, once I changed that it worked great on first try!)
I didn't have a problem getting everything working once activated and connecting both to update their account information.
-I have noticed that it hangs when trying to open the App for web videos hotlist and I have to power cycle to recover.
-I also notice that I am unable to play shows on other TiVo Premieres in my house. I have two Premieres and when I try to play from them it goes into a loop of folder after folder with alternating names.
-OnDemand isn't working, it shows up and I can browse, but choosing to watch anything fails with errors. My main unit is working fine with OnDemand, hoping that this is temporary. I may call Comcast and have them hit the cablecard with the authorization because I know before this was a problem.
(UPDATE: Found out that OnDemand won't work without assigning a tuner form the main TiVo. This is a very poor implementation, since the TiVo should be coded intelligently to notify the user that OnDemand is unavailable due to a tuner not being assigned. This won't be as much of an issue once dynamic tuner allocation is enabled, but until then I don't want to block a tuner for rare occurrences.)
-Lastly, it is unfortunate that it does not support playing videos using TiVo Desktop or others like pytivo. I am aware there is some streaming support, although it is not very good. I am hoping TiVo releases an app in the future to support DLNA or some other method of watching videos on the mini from a computer, since that is something I do often.
Otherwise, it works fine and is about the same performance of my Premiere, maybe slightly faster, but not as much as I was hoping. It is nice not worrying about a cable card and hard drive that can fail.
I really hope that they continue to improve the experience and allow more options as others have mentioned such as longer timeout than 90 minutes and future support of dynamic tuning from the Premiere line.
It seems TiVo is out of stock of the Minis:
I wonder if they are going to do a minor hardware refresh? Otherwise, I don't see why they would be out of stock.
I'm debating between the basic and the plus. Hard to justify double the price. I currently have a 6-year old TiVo HD (2 tuners). So moving to the basic will be a big upgrade for me. I can't imagine needing 6 tuners and figure I'll do fine with the storage capacity since it's a lot more than what I'm used to. I also don't really care about the streaming. However... I don't want to have buyer's remorse and wish I had upgraded. Is there something I'm missing regarding a compelling reason to go with the Plus vs the basic?
ALSO... unrelated question--Roamio does support Cox VOD, correct? Thanks!
The Logitech Harmony One software is missing some basic, long-time features in the Roamio database: Replay and Advance. Has anyone got their Harmony One setup completely with the new Tivos? I'm not sure if I should go back to my TivoHD setup and add new features? Or use the Roamio configuration and add in the missing features?
I have 3 Series 3 HDs (all with lifetime), 2 of which are eligible to be "swapped" for refurbed Premieres for $49 each. This cost includes the transfer of the lifetime service, as well as exchange shipping -- so, $49 all in for each unit.
My question is: should I consider this offer? While being older models, the HDs are functioning well, and something makes me think their build quality might be better than that of the Premieres? I'm aware of the larger storage capacity of the Premieres, but for the most part this is not an issue based upon their usage.
All units have Comcast cablecards installed; I'm not interested in using their On-Demand feature.
I'd appreciate the sage advice of anyone who'd care to contribute an opinion!
Mere days after Mari dinged Verizon’s lagging app experience, FiOS Mobile has been updated on iOS and Android platforms. Joining existing live cable network availability (77 channels and a smattering of on demand), Verizon has worked deals with many local affiliates (NBC!) and flipped the switch on out-of-home streaming. Remote viewing is somewhat limited in [...]

anyone else have this problem
We recently got a (base) Roamio and a Mini, and have had a Series2 for years. The Series2 has a whole bunch of recordings on it. The Roamio is the "home" server for the Mini.
On the Roamio, we can watch shows from the Series2, no problem.
However, on the Mini, when we try to watch shows from the Series2, we get a V120 error that says
The DVR you have selected is an older model TiVo DVR.
In order to watch shows on this DVR, you need to
connect to a Series4 or newer TiVo DVR. (V120)
Isn't a Roamio "series4 or newer"? Is this a case of the Mini not recognizing a Roamio properly?
I've had my Pro for two weeks now and I've been very happy with it. I did have a Plus for a week and I had multiple issues, but after exchanging it for a Pro, and having the cable company bring me a new cable card and an amplifier I've been having great luck with it. Not a single problem, until a few days ago.
Three nights in a row now my Pro has spontaneously restarted for no reason. First night was at 7:29pm, but the second two nights it was at 8pm exactly, right on the dot. The first night I dismissed it, because I've had TiVos for years and I've had the random restart here and there so I wasn't worried. The second night I realized I might have a problem on my hands, but I wanted more of a pattern before I contacted customer service. I think I have one now! If this keeps up I'll be losing the first three to four minutes of every show that airs at 8pm, which sucks. Obviously not the end of the world, but it is concerning.
And since I'm on the west coast, it's also interesting that the 8pm restart happens right when TiVo customer service closes. LOL I'll contact them tomorrow, but does anyone have any thoughts in the meantime?
Is there a way to set the defaults for SP settings?
If you set up a SP for MasterChef Junior when it hit the guide, it no longer works. It looks like they changed the name to just MasterChef and an existing SP for that will pick it up.
First airing is 9-27 with an episode title "Junior edition: Here Come the Kids"
Using the cablecard menu on my orig S3 the firmware being reported for my two M cards is as follows:
Card #2 FW Version: 03.31, 02.65, 03.25
Card #1 FW Version: 02.01, -.-, 03.25
Considering buying a Roamio but want to know if I'm going to be able to enjoy all 6 tuners. Tivo support says I need firmware 2.65 for Moto cards. So it appears the card #2 should work but not card #1, correct?
I have TWC near Toledo OH and their support claims I can only receive 2 tuners on any CC but we all know how reliable they can be.

In the past, I got offers of Hulu Plus for free for 6 months due to having TiVo Premiers (2-tuner). In order to get the 6 month offers, I remember inputting a different TiVO service number each time & therefore essentially got 1 free year of Hulu Plus.
I recently got a 4-tuner Premiere. Is there any way to still redeem this offer? If so, where?
Maybe im lost, but lets say im hit the tivo button while watching tv by mistake or i just want to browse. How do i exit of the tivo main screen? iv tried clear, black notting works?
Just gathering thoughts/opinions and advice
I just upgraded to a Roamio Plus today - after some hassle with Fios (and getting them to pair it properly), I think the Roamio is awesome. I am having some issues however with the built-in Stream. Here are my specifics:
- I have Verizon Fios and a Roamio Plus. Plus is using moca (built in) for internet feed
- I had a standalone Stream that I removed from the network because I understand there is no need for it given that I have Roamio built-in Stream (although happy to put it back on if the redundancy helps? Thoughts on this?)
- I can stream shows to my IPAD just fine - seems to work well
- I run into issues with IPAD downloading - the app seems to pause, time-out, lose connection to the Stream. If I am downloading a show, I have to click to reconnect the download process and this has happened multiple times for a single download
- I re-installed the TIVO app several times. I re-booted the Verizon Fios router but continued to receive download stoppage issues
- My last ditch effort has been to power off the router; power off the Roamio; unscrew the coax's to each; re-power the router; wait for internet to come on-line; re-power the TIVO. I am now downloading a 1.09G movie. At this point, I am keeping my fingers crossed as it has not paused out (yet)....but while I wait, I figured I would see if anyone has other ideas or recommendations?
Bottom line: Two questions really: 1) Any benefit of redundancy from keeping a TIVO stream standalone on a network that has a Roamio with integrated Stream?; and 2) any good tips for avoiding download errors when downloading shows to IPAD? (By the way, I did a port test and it checked out okay - so I think I have access to the required ports
I am very appreciative of these forums and the great help I get from here
