Any questions you have may be asked here or via the ask seller a question thing on eBay.

This is also mentioned in the listing but one thing that makes my system unique is the backwards compatability since this system is an early model and from what I understand, this is something removed in later models.

Does anyone know a reliable way to extend/boost the HDMI output from a TiVo Premiere XL4 to go 40' or more over an HDMI cable to a TV?
I'm using a 40' Monoprice RedMere HDMI cable but the signal from my TiVo is to weak. I see mostly static and about 5% of the setup screen.
However, my Blu-ray player has no problem with the same 40' distance.
I would expect there has to be a reliable device that would boost the signal strength from my TiVo enough to go 40' but I have no idea what it would be.
Please let me know if you have any thoughts or ideas.
I have installed pyTivo successfully on my Ubuntu server.
It starts fine and I can see my server when I go to MyShows on my Tivo.
But how do I see all my Tivo shows, in order to transfer them to my Ubuntu server??
I tried going to my local ip in firefox and the only thing that shows up is 'Settings'.
Is there a gnome GUI that I use to transfer files from my Tivo to Ubuntu? So confused.
FedEx showed up today with a package. It contained a Black felt bag with a small 2 inch square box with fold out AC prongs, DC car plug and 2 USB ports. It has a TIVO LOGO on it. Also 2 USB cables with different mini plugs on them ans a small adapter to go from a mini to a larger type of plug.
There was NO paperwork, no instructions, no nothing. My best guess is that it is a universal phone charger?? (by the way none of the adapters fit my phone)
Just wondering why I got it?? Never ordered it and can't find it anywhere on Tivo site??
I just got an email about this today. I wonder how things will change for them.
$15/month or $500 lifetime is a little hard for me to justify for (seemingly) just guide data. Do they ever offer service discounts for new customers? Thanks.
I have a Premiere on the $6.95 plan, and am considering upgrading to a Premiere 4 so i can add a mini to a spare bedroom.
Before I buy a new Premiere 4 from Amazon.com, I was curious if anyone has recently been able to transfer to the TSN for a Premiere on this plan to a newer model?
I saw several older threads from 2009 and earlier and know it could be done in the past but policies change.
My Premiere 4 started crashing (re-starting) last week. It would still be under warrantee except I upgraded it to a 2TB drive myself as soon as I got it (March, 2013). I think it is crashing when I press the TiVo button (but not every time; I can't intentionally reproduce this) to look at My Shows but it may have done it on its own a couple of times. I am using the HD menu. Does anyone have any advice for me?
I am using Tivo Desktop version 2.8.2 (412369). I have a directory under Videos to transfer that has about 20 videos in it. I have checked the box to automatically download the videos to my quad tuner DVR, but the DVR only shows 3 files. The Tivo :confused:desktop application says the programs will show up in the bottom of the "now playing list" if they are not automatically download, but I do not see the videos in the correct folder or at the bottom on the "now playing list". I am sending the videos to my premier quad tuner Tivo. I have looked for the videos using the standard Tivo menu and the HD Tivo menu and all I see are the three files. The files are all saved as mp4 files. IS there a limit on the number of files or type of file like ***** or mp3?
hi all, looking for a hd series 3 160 image --- any one ?
A while back, COX sent us letters asking us to pick up tuning adapters for an impending SDV switchover which was supposed to happen on 6/27/13 for Oklahoma City.
At first, the TAs were not available and the cox reps didn't seem to know anything about tuning adapters, let alone the switchover.
After waiting a couple of weeks, I passed by a local cox store and found they were available and picked one up for my Premiere XL.
Anyway, I hooked up the TA and called Cox again to provision it and this time got someone that seemed to know a bit more about TAs and cable cards and he said he would give it hit and come the switchover, the blinking light would go solid and the device would be functional.
However, 6/27 came and nothing happened, one week later still nothing. I can still tune to all the previous channels on my Premiere and there has been no further update from Cox.
I unplugged the TA and shelved it. Just wondering if anyone out there may have any more current information.
i know on fat 32 if you try to copy a file bigger than 4 gig you get an error unable to write file once the pc gets to the 4 gig byte of the file
and i think on the mac it immediately said unable to copy file without even trying to copy.
i was wondering what happens on the tivo if you try to record over the partition size limit if you get any warnings.
i have a series 4 based tivo and lately there has been a lot of redundancies in the repetition of deadliest especially the same 2 or 3 episodes and even episodes that dont match titles and even corruption of the signal (blip) like you get when a satellite transition does not go smoothly yes cable gets their signal from satellites and repackages the signal for cable).
the box had a 320 gig drive and it is now approaching 400 gig of a 2 tb drive and i wonder if when the drive gets fuller than 320 gig there is no warning such as a drive failure or such if all that happens is if it writes over old data like the buffer does and security dvr does.
TCD746320 TiVo Premiere Series4 HD DVR
Upgraded with a 2TB Drive.
Used but has been unplugged for the past 6 months or so due to cancelling our cable subscription temporarily.
I see anywhere from 400-600 on Ebay. What do you guys think is fair?
I'm in Los Angeles too if anyone here is interested in buying it off of me :)
I joined Prime when shipping an item 3 day (which I needed before the weekend) was over $50, and with Prime being $80 it was a no brainer when you conceder the amount I tend to buy from them. It was like free 2 day shipping for a year plus free streaming content. I already have an account to rent/buy movies so they have my devices on record. I have not been able to stream content, Amazon is not on the tab to "watch now", only Netflix. What do I need to do to get free streaming?? I emailed Amazon 2 days ago with no response.
Has anyone out there get a QNAP NAS to talk to a series 4 TIVO. My Netgear NAS had an app for this and worked fairly well. I've stepped up a few steps to a QNAP and their DLNA app is invisible to my TIVOs. I tracked down a way to create an TIVO app, but is waaaaaay above my head.
So I have product lifetime service for my TiVo Premiere and have had few complaints (although I can't for the life of me understand why both tuners end up on the same channel more often than not, but that's another story).
Anyway, last night I was checking the To Do list and noticed that my Sunday night shows (Copper, The Killing, and Falling Skies) next weekend (on the 14th) weren't going to be recorded. I thought, WTF? So I called up the "Live Guide" on the TiVo for each channel involved (BBC America, AMC and Syfy, respectively) and jumped forward through to the 14th, only to discover, for each of them, that there's a gap in the data from about 5 pm Sunday the 14th to 5 pm Monday the 15th. And it turns out it's not just those channels involved either (I randomly checked a couple more channels). What provoked my curiosity in the first place was wondering whether we were going to get a new Walking Dead episode next Sunday night, BTW.
For now I've set the Tivo, VCR-like, to record by time and channel, but I'm going to monitor it and see if the problem corrects itself. I'd be curious to find out if anyone else's TiVo is doing this.
Certain Posters feel the need to get angry, name call, report or stamp their feet whenever anyone points out the warts of this product or company?
This is a board about "general TiVo discussion" isn't it?
Why the hostility?
Geez, you'd think I said Chevys rule and Fords Suck.
Sorry to bother, but my Premiere XL (TCD748000) died yesterday (I think from power outage...it is stuck on "Welcome...starting up" and makes a loud noise). I thought it was the fan, but the fan is blowing nicely. So I've come to the conclusion it's the hard drive. I'm happy to go to Fry's to get a new hard drive, and follow instructions I have found online, but I cannot find the ISO for the TCD748000 anywhere. Would someone happen to know where I can find one?
Much appreciated for your help. :)
