Perhaps we can post tear-down pics here...?
TiVo TCD758250 Premiere XL4 DVR & TiVo Stream Bundle
TiVo TCD750500 Premiere 4 DVR & TiVo Stream Bundle
Both come with stream. WOW.
I see in this thread
that there is some support from Flingo but the file types are limited and lack FF/REW. Are there any other options? I've used Stream, Baby, Stream for years but that doesn't work (shows up, navigates to show, hit Play and error comes up).
Lack of streaming from PC is the main hinderance I have from replacing my Elite with another Mini.

I have 4 XL4's: 2 bought October 2012, 1 in January 2013, and one July 2013 that can be returned up until August 31st to Amazon.
I have 2 streams I bought in January 2013.
Basically, 2 XL4's and a Stream are in each of two different apartments.
None have Lifetime. All have extended warranties. One Stream is still in the box it came in, the other is in service.
I also have 2 HD's disconnected in the corner. One has a bad mobo and no drive, the other is good. They both have lifetime but are out of extended warranty (they are 2010's).
Let's say I wanted to have 4 Roamio Pro's. I could sell 3 of XL4's on eBay, return 1 to Amazon, sell both Stream's on eBay, get rid of the two HD's (the good and the bad one's).
What are the moves? Can I do some kind of move of the old HD Lifetime's to the XL4's.
Option 1: Now: Return the newest XL4, sell the Streams on eBay, buy 1 Roamio Pro, 2: Later: then wait for improved pricing on the Roamio Pro after Thanksgiving maybe to buy 3 more Roamio Pro's and sell 3 XL4's on eBay.
Option 2: ???
Does anyone know if the UI on the Mini will be upgraded to look like the Roamio?
I would like the look of everything to be consistent throughout the house (will have a total of 4 Minis).
Will I be able to tape 6 things at once or will I be "limited" to 5 with a tuner permanently set aside for the Mini? That's the only thing I need to find out before I order....Thanks in advance
What a freaking joke of a season. Enough with all the betrayals. Every single episode this season, someone betrays someone else. Please get back to cases. This main Ava Hessington arc is out of control. Anyone else annoyed with this?
But will the new Roamio work with PyTiVo? Year after year I use PyTiVo more and more and can't live without it now!
Anyone know how or if not when we will able to upgrade the entry level roamio hard drive to a internal 2TB? I have 2 on the way and would love to able to expand the recording space with new 2TN green AV drives I have.
Selling my like new Tivo XL4 w/ Lifetime Service and Tivo Stream. Both come with box, original packaging and all accessories. Everything is in perfect condition cosmetically and functionally.

$675 or Best Offer!
After I got my Roamio pro and I take my 2 single stream cable cards in for 1 multi stream card should I also make sure to take my TA to make sure the firmware is up to date to support 6 tuners? I did do a search;) and from I'm reading all the TA's should have updated firmware to support the 6 tuners. oop's I forgot to add that I have cox cable if that matters
So I'm on the fence on buying the Roamio Pro. There are a lot of things to like, but quite a few things I'm disappointed aren't yet available. Here's my list of good, bad and unknown. Please add to it as you see fit.
- New hardware should be much faster
- 6 tuners
- Updated interface
- Built-in streaming capability
- Built-in Wi-Fi support (which I don't use)
- Streaming not available, yet
- Android streaming support not available, yet
- Windows PC streaming support not available, and no signs of it in the future
- $600 (ouch) + $400 lifetime service (ouch) = $1000 (double ouch)
- No THX certification?
- Will 6 channel support work with Time Warner tuning adapter in Raleigh, NC? It's unclear how many channels the tuning adapters support.
- Will streaming be supported for Time Warner cable channels? Currently with my Premiere I can only download over-the-air channels to the TiVo Desktop. The other channels are copyright protected.
- No Sirius XM streaming capability? (this would be a really nice addition)
What am I missing from these lists?
I'm also disappointed that TiVo won't offer better pricing for long time TiVo customers or the ability to transfer lifetime service. I've been a customer since the first 14 and 30 hour TiVo Series 1. I still own 4 TiVos, including 3 Series 2s and 1 Premiere. I know they've got to make money, but it's still disappointing.
The pictures of the back of the Roamio Pro and Plus clearly show component output connectors.
The tivo.com feature comparison web page for the Roamios clearly shows an X (nada) for component output for all 3 models.
Various reviews say it does have component output.
Will someone who couldn't wait and got next day shipment please report on the actual state of affairs? Are the component output connectors only there for decoration, or can you get a picture on them?
Thanks in advance.
(I would vastly prefer that the component output works - I have nothing but trouble with HDCP - things like switching the TV input for a minute then switching back sometimes takes forever to decide that it is valid to send a picture again. There are so many incompetent implementations of HDCP on devices with HDMI output, and I know what category I'd expect the TiVo engineers to fall in :-).
I would love to hear the justification for not allowing Amazon Prime Streaming on the Roamio.
You'd think that would be one of the many weaknesses/omissions they would fix.
There's really no excuse for not having it at this point.
Fix it, Tivo, and you get my money. If not, I'll sit on this series 4 until it crumbles to dust.
I already have 2 Premieres and a Stream. If I add a 6 tuner Roamio can I keep the existing Stream on the network in order to still be able to stream from the Premieres, since the Roamio has built-in streaming?
I'm new to the MoCa scene. I have a Roamio Plus and a Mini on order.
My current network cable-modem and router and GigE switch are in my office, this is is where the Mini will sit. I have a single cat5 cable running via a very difficult run to have installed, running to a GigE switch and router running as a Wireless Access Point in my living room which is where my main TV is and Roamio Plus will live.
I'm wondering if A) can I plug my router or switch via a Cat 6 cable into the Mini in the office, and then plug the switch into the Ethernet port in the Living Room, and use the remaining ports on the switch to feed the WAP and other networked devices in my living room area? B) Will the performance over MoCa with the prior scenario be better than my current scenario?
What are the pros and cons of these situations?
When I watch Netflix on my Tivo Premiere XL for appx an hour, it "freezes", i.e., whatever I'm watching will continue to play, but I can't pause, rewind, stop --- nothing except hit the TiVo button and go back to the main TiVo menu, then re-enter Netflix to get the commands to work again. Is this a common problem??
I decided to upgrade to the Roamio and get rid of my S3 HD THX. Can anyone tell me what it is worth? I replaced the hard drive, I think to 500gb. Recording time says 70 hours, does that sound right? Thanks.
