maybe I'm crazy, but the last week or so I am seeing two automatic updates per day
Rumors surfaced earlier this month that Boxee is about to get bought on the cheap. And while details are virtually non-existent on the identity of the buyer, we’ve never let that stop us from speculating before. So who is the mysterious suitor? I see four potential acquiring types. Hardware company With Boxee’s software roots, it’s possible [...]

I am unable to link my new XL4 with Amazon.
I cannot order videos for download from Amazon from the Tivo or from the Amazon website like I used to from my Series 3.
The XL4 does not show up as an option to register on Amazon.
On tivo.com the XL4 is enabled for downloads.
I brought it to Amazon's attention that it was not on their list of devices to register.
Let's get this rolling!
Noms are Candice and Jesse.
There seem to be two major alliances in the house, one with all boys and one with all girls. More details coming as I get caught up.
Thought it might be fun to throw out ideas on what might happen in the final season. Have a guess on what might happen? A dream scenario you'd like to see played out?
I think Don will die. Not after a fall from a tall building :), but Don Draper the person will cease to exist. I could see him faking his death somehow and letting Betty and the kids move on with their lives without him. I could also see him re-assuming his Dick Whitman identity and turning himself in to the Army.
I'd like to ask for some feedback from anyone who has a P4 or P4XL (with built in MoCA Adapter) and a 2-tuner Premiere with an external MoCA adapter, with regards to streaming.
Does it work as well as streaming from the P4 or P4XL to a Mini?
I'm on FiOS, if that means anything since I'm not 100% sure if all MoCA traffic runs through the router or not.
I have two lifetime Series 3 (OLED) TiVos. One is now caught in the dreaded reboot loop. I opened it up and it indeed has a bulging cap. I plan to take care of this with a local shop.
In the meantime, can I possibly take the hard drive out of this rebooting TiVo and put it in the other working Series 3 (OLED)? Then transfer the programs on it to one of my other networked TiVos (2 Premieres and a TiVo HD)? Basically, are programs tied to my account or are the programs tied to the rebooting TiVo's motherboard somehow?
I realize I will also FULLY test this hard drive as well to make sure it is OK and not a failing drive.
Well, Dane proved himself to be a complete idiot! Whether Keith and the crew were right or not, sucker-punching Freddie is not going to make ANY captain want to keep you around.
Felt bad for the Hillstrands on the Time Bandit. Those pots were coming in well stocked, but 95% had to be thrown back - but dayum, 719 at the end made up for it!
...and Elliot, if you want to try to speak to your women, don't P them off in the first place!
I am in the Atlanta area and recently got a beta invite for the new Aereo TV service. Have been using it for about 2 weeks now (I think it goes live for everyone on July 1st).
I must say, its actually a rather good service & I have been liking it. It includes cloud DVR service (20 or 60hrs) & while its definitely in its beginning stages & not perfect by any means, I think it has some promise. For now, it works mainly with standard browsers, Roku and Apple devices. I personally used it on a laptop and my wife's iPad and the image quality was pretty good. Of course, I realize this depends on your internet connection. I have a 40Mbs Comcast connection so I am sure this definitely helped. I would like to try it on a Roku at some point and see how easy it is. Its only for local channels (in certain markets), but maybe it will also paved the way for someone else to come up with a true a-la-cart internet TV package of some kind.
Its not a direct threat (yet) to TiVo, but I do like the whole "cloud DVR" concept and would love to see TiVo go in a similar direction. I'm sure its not in the cards at all for their upcoming Series 5 line of DVRs, but maybe down the road they will incorporate something similar (like local programming only). Only time will tell.
Looking for good universal all-in-one remote to handle TiVo, AVR, & BluRay.
Prefer RF but will consider IR.
Anyone try this yet?
Today, I attempted to edit one of my wishlists on my XL4 and noticed that they were ALL gone. I created a new one from scratch and saved it. I then went back into wishlists and it's gone again. However, when I go into my season passes/to-do list, they are scheduled to record?
Anyone seen this? Is this yet another TiVo bug?
Not in HD.
Thats all I got so far.
The clever remote control audio out capabilities introduced with the Roku 3 will be making their way to the Roku Streaming Stick according to today’s FCC filing. Despite new MHL-compatible partners, we can’t imagine Streaming Stick sales have been significant… as it’s often cheaper and always conceptually simpler to bring “Smart TV” capabilities to a HDTV [...]

My rant -
Disappointed in TiVO's quality of the remotes, after a few months of use the printing on the buttons is wearing off.
With how long remote controls have been made you think TiVo could spend $0.50 to come up with a remote where the printing on the buttons won't wear off!
The battle for the Stanley Cup came down to the final moments of game 6. As the crowd in the arena, and the Bruins, assumed the championship series would go to game 7, Chicago was able steal the win in the final minutes of the game with two goals within a 17 second window. With such an exciting outcome, TiVo Research and Analytics could not resist utilizing its second-by-second tune in data to report on the top watched moments of last night’s game. I recently subscribed to Spotify and am under a 30 day trial. Before, we were using the Pandora radio feature on our Premiere and liking it. I thought I would give Spotify a try since its on the Premieres.
From my initial use of Spotify on a PC, it allows you to pick songs from a huge library as well as a Pandora like "radio" feature. I originally thought the Spotify radio feature would also be on the Premiere's Spotify application (a reason I signed up for a trial), but came to learn its not.
I see how there is also Rhapsody on the Premieres. It appears Rhapsody has a 'radio' feature as well for normal PC use. However, has the Rhapsody radio been removed from the TiVo application as well? Would like to know before I possibly sign up for a trial account with Rhapsody too.
For reasons nobody can explain, channels keep getting removed, then added back. Example, Recently ESPN1 and ESPN2 channels were removed. I called Tivo and they tell me (more-or-less), "Not our problem, call your cable company". I call comcast, they check their Comcast DVRs and tell me "Not our problem, our comcast DVRs have the correct lineup, contact Tivo.".... About 3-4 days later, ESPN channels are added back.
This happens a few times a month; various different channels get removed, then get added back. Most of the time the channels that go missing are channels I don't watch, so I don't spend the time\effort to make (futile) phone calls. I watch ESPN, so I wasn't happy that it disappeared from the TiVo's channel lineup (on all 3 Tivos) for a few days.
Anyone have any understanding why Tivo's Channel lineup is removing channels, then adding them back so fequently. And to be clear, there is a TiVo message each time the channels are being removed, and then added back.
So they changed the name from "Design Star" to "HGTV Star" and my season pass didn't pick it up. I just started watching... still seems like it's focused on designers, so why the name change?
Nothing to add except Vern Yip is getting old. I guess that means I am too. :o
