Plan is to stream Christmas music to the TV room where the tree is.
TV+TiVo is hooked up to AV system - so plan was to have TV screen off but music can still pipe through TiVo attached to AV.
Didn't want to spend $200+ for a Sonos...so is the $15.99 TiVo Desktop worth it to stream content - specifically music from PC to my TV/AV system?
Or any other alternative?
Is there a particular network hard drive you could suggest which would support Streambaby?
I don't know Linux so how much would I need to learn in order to configure a network hard drive? And what is the least expensive brand/model that could support Streambaby?
Please help. Thanks.
So over the years I seem to miss out on shows when there new. I can't seem to bring myself to suffer through crappy shows to get to good ones.
24 I didn't watch until after it was done. I love it!
Sopranos we didn't start until season three, and both loved it.
We loved the 4400 and Jericho.
We just watched all of Breaking Bad in the last few months.
Now were feeling like we need a new show since we're done with Breaking Bad, what an awesome show.
What really awesome show did I miss out on that we could start from season 1?
Just received my my new Roamio Plus and two minis. We are on TWC here and in my research, TWC only supports 2 tuner cards and in their boxes as well. I am upgrading from an HD and believed from conversations with cable reps and Tivo reps that a firmware update would enable additional tuners. We are located in Lexington, SC. Am I FUBARed?
I have a Roamio Plus connected directly to a Samsung (LN37A55) LCD TV.
Pretty basic setup, no other component in between.
So it used to be that once in a great while when I turned on the TV there would be a scrambled picture and a loud and annoying audio screech.
The TV would then turn itself off and back on again to correct.
But now this happens every time I turn on the TV after its been off for a couple hours.
Sometimes the audio screech happens, sometimes not.
Sometimes its just a black screen or sometimes garbage video and no audio.
But it now takes anywhere between 2-7 attempts of the TV turning itself off and on before it works normally.
I have 3 HDMI ports on the TV and an Apple TV and a PS3 connected directly.
Ive tried every combination of cables, ports and devices to correct this but it didnt help.
The issue will always happen with the Roamio on any port with any cable.
The other devices do not have this issue ever.
(my Tivo HD never had this issue either)
Ivd tried the Roamio on another TV and it seemed to work fine, but that was a newer and different brand TV.
The latest thing I tried was using a simple HDMI switch between the Roamio and the TV, but the switch doesnt get enough power from the Roamio's HDMI port to work.
It cant even get the LED on the switch to stay on and no signal will pass through.
If I add another device to the switch, like the PS3, it gets proper power and pass through works for the Roamio and PS3 (but it still doesnt correct the problem).
I have no way to diagnose the HDMI port so dont know if anything is wrong with it.
But I find it odd it cant even power a simple HDMI switch, when my PS3 (thats not even turned on!) can.
Does anyone use a self powered HDMI switch that gets proper power from a Roamio?
(I know I probably shouldnt use a self powered switch, but this is just for testing purposes I have no need for one otherwise)
We suppose it was inevitable that AT&T would drop U-verse support for the Xbox 360 sometime after Ericsson’s acquisition of Microsoft Mediaroom due to the complex Microsoft-centric integration. Not to mention, AT&T cites “low customer demand” in their decision to cease service come 12/31. Fortunately, AT&T is doing the right thing in compensating the small subset [...]

Hey Guys, does anyone happen to know definitely which is better for OVER THE AIR? I have a basic tivoHD with lifetime service on it. I don't plan to put a cable card in it. Will tune it with over the air antenna.
I also have a basic premiere without subscription on it. Will also tune it with over the air, with no tivo function.
TivoHD will get back more money, but that doesn't matter. I just want to know which one is "known" for better over the air reception. Or, is that solely dependent on the antennae? Thank you.
Switched on the TV to the TiVo input today, and it said this on the screen:
Fedora release 10 (Cambridge)
I posted a picture of it here (but can't post links, so remove spaces):

I didn't have a way to type, but was hoping the password was "Christmas" :-)
Pulled the power and forced a reboot and it seems to be working fine.
I have a Tivo HD. I have Verizon Fios. I am looking to get a Roamio to replace the Tivo HD. Can I just swap the card into the new unit or must I call or have Verizon come out to do some setup?
What is I had Cablevision, because I might switch back to them next month when my deal with Verizon runs out and they don't offer me a better deal than Cablevision can.
My machine stopped saving all recorded episodes of a program 'in a group' in the Now Playing List, e.g. Moonshiners (3). Now they are spread out through a muuuuuch loooooonger NPL. Can it be corrected/restored?
Just to let you all know that according to a tech support supervisor this evening, Tivo apparently has NO WAY of processing a warranty replacement for an item that is currently out of stock (to be shipped when it is once again in stock). They may tell you it is processed, but it probably is not.
A couple weeks ago, they were supposed to ship a warranty replacement slide remote (it was in stock at the time) but when I asked about it today (I had called about something else and was just checking... I know they are currently out of stock) they could not find the order..... at all. And worse, they could not even create a new one one because it is still out of stock. Worse still, they don't have a system to create the order later when it is in stock.
So anyone looking for a warranty replacement on an item that is not in stock, beware. They may tell you it will ship later but don't count on it.
iTiVo 1.7.7b3 won't open on my new MacBook Pro w/OS X 10.9. Get msg "TiVo" can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Safari downloaded this file on November 9, 2013. I have TiVo Premier XL4.
On the Premiere and older Tivos I could go in and look at shows that Tivo suggests and thumbs up or down them. Can't seem to find that screen on the Roamio. Is it no longer there?
I have a Tivo Premiere TCD746320 (320GB HD) with a lifetime subscription. Can I take the hard drive out of a Tivo Premiere model TCD746500 (500GB HD) and use it in my unit? I am looking at this as an alternative to buying a blank hard drive and going thru the software copy/transfer routine.
As anticipated, Roku recently began exerting control over their home screen, post UI refresh, with initial updates consisting of massive banner ads (boo) and a video store (yay)… via M-Go. A joint venture of DreamWorks and Technicolor, M-Go offers video rentals and purchases on a variety of platforms – similar to an Amazon Instant or [...]

I am setting up the Roamio Pro in my living room and I am taking my HDXL and putting it in the bedroom. How should I handle putting the new one in line.. Should I have it running awhile and let it do updates or put the cable card into it and let it update? Also will I be able to access my HDXL programs that are recorded in the bedroom from the Roamio in the living room? Thank you very much in advance..Best regards...Bob...
Just hooked up my Roamio and noticed the picture quality to be way too dark, and somewhat too red tinted
Also, lip sync on HD channels are way off
Using the same cable and HDMI cable, the cable box does not exhibit these issues
Anyone else, or any suggestions?
So, I just hooked up my mini last night via ethernet and have a very dark and very red picture
Additionally, the audio drifts way out of sync (~5secs) after watching for about 10-20 minutes - changing channel corrects it, but then it repeats
Additionally, when changing channels is about 3-5 seconds 'acceptable' for show to start showing?
I so want this to work, but the audio lipsync drifting and color/brightness issues are showstoppers.
My main Roamio (also just hooked up) has same picture issue, and lip sync issue is not as bad, but on HD content especially, it's very noticeable.
I am having difficulty connecting a tivo mini to a tivo roamio with a powerline adapter.
I have tried the following models without success:
TP-LINK TL-PA4010KIT AV500
Actiontec PWR511K01 500 Mbps HomePlug HD
This model worked for awhile but eventually failed because it has a sleep mode that I am unable to disable:
NETGEAR Powerline 500Mbps Adapter - Starter Kit (XAVB5201)
What brands are compatible with tivo mini/roamio?
