My premier Tivo is starting to not record some shows. It is random in terms of channels. This week it did't record the first 15 minutes of NBC hd news and then kicked in. When it doesn't record there is no signal or picture on the channel. But if I go into the signal monitor, which involves turning off the recording and then seeing the monitor, the signal will suddenly come in. The signal leval is about 80 and the s/n is 35 . This happened with my tivo HD recorder when I previously used it . It sounds like a design defect. I would like Tivo engineering to look at this problem.
With some people complaining about either the high lifetime fees, and/or the monthly fees, I'm wondering why TiVo doesn't offer a "Lease to Lifetime" plan. I'm tossing out numbers, and they aren't necessarily accurate, but I hope it gets the point across.
A Mini Lifetime is $150, and a monthly on a Mini is $6.00/month. I wonder how many people would be enticed by a plan where they pay 10/month for 18 months, which adds up to $180. Obviously this is a premium of $30, but it would accomplish two things. First it would attract buyers who can't afford the full $250 upfront for each Mini they desire. On the other hand, it would provide a "light at the end of the tunnel" for those who realize that overall, lifetimes are a better deal than monthly subscriptions. I'm sure similar pricing models could be worked out for the Roamios as well, where a whole lot of customers are put off by $500 lifetime fees upfront at the same time they're putting down $200 to $600 for the hardware. $18/month for 32 months or so seems about right.
I don't have a stream but I assume the technology in the Raomio is the same for streaming to ios devices. I start watching on my phone it starts a recording. Ok. I change channels and it continues to record the old and channel and the new channel I just tuned to? Is this really the best Tivo could come up with for this "streaming" technology? Why can't this be done behind the scenes? Help me understand the method to their madness.
Does this work with live TV, or only with recorded content, or content that's currently being recorded? I was watching (not recording) tv on the Mini - I paused it, and went to my Roamio and tried to continue the show from there, but it said the tuner was in use by the Mini, and wouldn't let me select it. Am I doing it all wrong?
My set up:
Cable line into the house > Cable modem, Time Capsule, and MoCA. This room is the heart of house wifi network.
Cable outlet > MoCA box > TiVo Premiere
It works for the TiVo, but...sure would like to add a second Airport to the bedroom, extending the otherwise weak wifi signal to that part of the house.
Is that possible? Where/how do I add an Airport to the bedroom setup?
Coming from a S3HD Tivo, it was nice to toggle and pause between 2 shows / tuners - letting the buffer build on one tuner while watching the other ~ Once a commercial starts, pause - click Live TV to click over to the other tuner, etc.
Just got the Roamio Plus with 6 tunes - Is there an easy way to toggle between 2 shows / tuners, without having to hit the Live TV button multiple times to zip past the tuners I'm not interested in? I know about the Info > Down Arrow > Right Arrow > Down Arrow to directly select a different tuner - But that's a lot of steps too... Is there a way to toggle?
Thanks in advance.
Simple.TV and Silicon Dust are joining forces for the second iteration of Simple.TV, due later this year, by leveraging their respective software/services and hardware skills. In speaking with Simple CEO Mary Ely last week, the companies appear to be addressing most of my gen 1 concerns. First, the updated hardware will feature a new Zenverge transcoder with [...]

What a dramatic difference in speed! I love my new Roamio. I would never have recommended the Premiere to a "non-TiVo" friend. This, I will recommend!
Roamio Basic+1 TB My DVR Expander + stream = great experience for me so far!
Ok, this seems very awkward. When I download shows from the Roamio to the iPad, I have to leave the app open( I can live with this) but I also have to keep interacting with the app so the iPad doesn't go to sleep. If it does, the down load stops. So basically I have to set and watch the show down load to the iPad. Not very convenient. Is there a better way? How do I keep the iPad from sleeping during downloads?
Looking at buying a Roamio (man that's a goofy name), and due to finances, I can't afford the lifetime to go with it (not right now, anyway). I'm thinking of going the monthly route for the time being until things clear up a bit. Given I have old boxes, I would qualify for MSD, so it would be $12.99 a month.
To that, the website talks about a one year commitment, and a $75 early termination fee. Does that apply if you then go during the year to lifetime?
If they just let you upgrade to lifetime at that point without a penalty, that might be the way to go for me.
Also, I vaguely remember some deal before where you'd pay something like $20 a month, and get the box, too? As I can't find that, I suspect that was something for Premiere that is no longer around?
I've done a little searching on the forum, and can't find anything similar to what I have experienced. I apologize in advance for the long post.
I have a Series 2 Tivo, which we have been using happily for the last several years (lifetime sub). Recently, the hard drive failed completely. I replaced it with a 160gb WD hard drive, with a fresh image that I obtained on the web. I ran through all the steps to get it working correctly in the S2, and that fixed the problem, the S2 was working again.
Fast forward to about a month or so later (a few days ago), and one morning I find my S2 in a perpetual reboot sequence. It doesn't get to the stage where the light changes yellow, so I can't try any kick start codes. It just powers up for about 30 seconds, then shuts off completely and repeats.
I have another hard drive (200gb WD), so I create a TiVo drive from my downloaded image, swap out the drive and begin the start up process again. After going through the guided setup twice (having "deleted everything" after the first startup to get the serial numbers synced), I pull the drive out, and create a backup image of it.
This second drive works great, and I figure that the first drive I used was just on it's way out. When I came down the next day, the TiVo was behaving exactly the same as the morning before, locked in a boot up sequence that it can't complete.
Using the two drives (which appear to work fine), I have tried a combination of using either drive, with either the downloaded image or the image I created, and every time I get the exact same result. It works perfectly when I first install it, and yet when I check it the following morning it is back to the stuck boot up sequence.
I'm at a loss, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I've noticed that I'm getting some pixelation and a lot of RS uncorrected errors only only on one channel (Golf Channel HD) - signal strength 85 - SNR 35 which is right were most of my other channels are. I have absolutely no RS uncorrected errors on any other channel and very low RS corrected errors. My thinking is that if this were a problem with the cabling in my house that this would show up on more than one channel. Could it be possible that these errors are actually in the transmission stream itself? I'm just not sure where to go from here...
I am having trouble streaming Lilyhammer. It keeps retrieving. Does anyone else have this problem?
I have purchased a Roamio Pro and a Mini.
The Roamio will be in the living room and the Mini in the study area. I have a wi-fi set up in the study.
Does everything I need to get set up and going come pre-packaged in the Roamio and Mini? Stated another way-- will I need to buy anything else?
For previous Tivo set-up I needed to purchase a wireless adapter.
Will I need any MOCA adapter?
I am aware that I will need one cable card (from Comcast).
I do not plan to use any ethernet cable or other cables from the router to either the Roamio or Mini.
I now have 2 TVs connected to my premiere xl, one in the family room that uses the regular remote and one in the kitchen with a wireless HDMI broadcaster that duplicates the signal to the second room.
I added a slider remote so that the TV in the kitchen can control the tivo in the other room.
Every few days or so, at 2 or 3 in the morning the TV in the kitchen turns itself on. It has never done this until the slider remote was introduced to the kitchen.
Any idea on why this is happening?
what is Blog and website and which one is batter..?
I guess most subscribers already have this info through the message inbox or other sources. But, just in case you missed it.
I already have my recordings set for Sunday.
I down load 2 files around 2.5GB each and both of them will not work transfer to my TiVo HD. I use TiVoDesktop to move them across i have transferred these files before without any issues.
Any help would be great.
I really hate the double evictions.
If I were a betting man, I'd bet that McCrae's yard was the only one that actually had 2 bones in it.
Elissa really was blinded by Andy - she actually thought McCrae was the extra vote to send Amanda home. Crazy.
I seem to be missing some episodes of the bridge. I see a couple of 3 minute recaps, but no episodes. Season pass fail? Anyone else experience an issue?
