I have a Tivo XL4. I been trying to link it to zap2it but it fails. I get this message.
Sorry, we're currently unable to link your TiVo account to your Zap2it account. Please try again later or contact customer support.
I been trying it for about a week now. Does any one know what is causing problem and how to fix it?
I got my Mini, but there is nothing on the box or the instructions that mentions Roamio. It says compatible with Premiere, XL and Elite. Did I get the right Mini, does it matter?
I thought this product came out at the same time with the Roamio, so I'm surprised Roamio is not mentioned in the literature/manual.
I have been a Tivo customer for over ten years. My original Series 2 Tivo was a great product at the time, but since then every unit I've owned (Series 3 HD, Premiere XL, Premiere XL4, Stream, Mini and now Roamio Pro) has had so many bugs, including the service outage by Tivo’s servers all night yesterday.
You can browse the support forums here at Tivo Community and on Tivo’s own website and see numerous problems users have been experiencing due to poor engineering and software bugs. When is Tivo management going to get its act together and get the engineers and support staff to resolve all of these problems everyone is having in a timely manner? Does the management board even know about these problems? Do you use Tivos the way most users do on a daily basis to know how many problems there are, or is this just another case of a company being run by a board of executives with business degrees and no depth of understanding of the product that they’re selling?
Among the long list of problems I've been experiencing: Padding time to Season Pass recordings creating a 2nd manual recording, numerous problems connecting to Wifi, frequent problems connecting to the Tivo outside my home network, Tivo Desktop for Mac not having been updated in several years, Roxio's Tivo Transfer not working at all with the Roamio Pro, the iOS Tivo App showing the wrong disk percentage, the inability to transfer some older recordings from another Tivo. The list goes on and on. When Tivo’s servers went down last night, there was no way for Tivo owners to know that the errors they were getting were a result of the servers being down. This information should have been made available on Tivo’s website. This shows an incredible lack of communication between Tivo and their customers.
These are issues that have been ongoing for months, and in some cases, years. The Level 1 phone support staff doesn't know how to solve these known issues. Incredibly, many aren’t even aware that these problems are known issues. They make you go through their canned troubleshooting guide over the phone, which is an incredible waste of everyone’s time. The Level 2 support staff seems to know about some of the problems, but the Level 1 staff makes it really difficult for Tivo owners to get through to them. It seems that the only decent support for Tivo owners is on their website forum and here at Tivo Community, but we only have the ability to make each other aware of known problems, not fix them.
This is completely unacceptable for an $1,100 product (Roamio Pro with Lifetime Service). I wish there was a better alternative for a standalone DVR besides the cable companies’ DVRs, which have far fewer features. Currently, I’m only a Tivo customer out of a lack of better options.
Tivo management, please take the necessary steps to recognize the numerous problems Tivo users are having and find a way to get the engineering and support staff to fix them and communicate with customers in a timely and efficient way.
We just upgraded from a TivoHD to Roamio Plus. Big change in interface! We'll be getting used to it pretty fast.
It appears that the hack to turn on the onscreen clock permanently doesn't work any more. Is there a way to get this to work again? <sel><play><sel>9<sel> isn't working. We added another <sel> at the beginning, but it didn't seem to help either.
Any suggestions will be most welcome. I gotta keep my wife happy!
Have had a TivoHD since 2007 - saw the ads and got a new Roamio last Weds (Best Buy) ... I added to my existing account and put it in the HT Friday morning - worked great no complaints. We've got FIOS with a cable card here in the DC area. Tuesday night it was acting funny due to the TIVO HQ problems - couldn't connect to Tivo Home or some such. I read here that that was a known problem, so we just watched some prerecorded shows and that worked fine.
Came home from work this afternoon and noticed it was recording at 4:20PM. I don't record anything at that hour, so I turned on the TV and HT receiver and saw it was recording ch 1509 TELESALV - some kind of Spanish language channel that I apparently don't receive in my FIOS package anyway (!) ... flipped Live TV and the next tuner was on 1511 XHAW - apparently another spanish language channel I don't subscribe to. The other 2 tuners were on the local NBC and the local CBS HD channels, which is where I usually leave them.
I could not change channels on the 2 "locked" tuners - tho since I am new to the Roamio - maybe it was stuck on that channel because it was recording - tho of course recording a blank channel means there is no real recording to save.
Anyway, I force it to restart and the problem was gone - for maybe 90 minutes ... then I saw it was recording again. Checked the Season pass manager and there is nothing in there like this.
Went into Customer Svc chat at tivo.com and the CSR had me cycle power - and right now, its not recording. Headed to bed soon - guess I'll know in the AM if its fixed or if I have to swap the box ... its under 30 days so it can be returned for a refund - but I did get it for a good price!
That was a fun episode and I have to admit I was on the edge of my seat for the stone raffle. I wish they'd come up with a better way of deciding than just 'dumb luck', but still... what a fun Tribal Council. :D
I didn't see what the preview 'spoiler' was that y'all were talking about last week. Did it turn out to be a red herring or did it pan out?
I'm planning to buy a Roamio Plus, and I just signed up for Verizon Fios and learned that the cablecard will cost me $5/month. This seems appallingly high. I am coming from Comcast that charged me $1.50 for two CCs.
Does anyone know how much the cable cos/Verizon actually pay the equipment makers for a CC?
I am curious what payback period Verizon is enjoying (e.g., a 3-month payback assuming a CC costs $15).
Sorry if this has been covered before, but is there anywhere to find out what remote keys control the functions of the YouTube app?
I'm aware Tivo was experiencing some technical issues yesterday evening and their service was down. I noticed this morning that Netflix, Youtube and Hulu are not longer under the 'Find TV, Movie and Videos' menu.
Were they removed? I can still access Youtube and Netflix via DIAL from my ipad but no access to them from the Tivo interface.
Any ideas on what happened? I haven't seen other posts on this so I'm assuming it's not widespread.
On tivo.com my Roamio Pro (correctly) has 41 Season Passes. Only 9 of these Season Passes have made it to the Roamio. Any ideas what is wrong? Is this connected with the tivo.com outages and performance issues we've been seeing?
When I add new Season Passes on the Roamio, they do not appear on tivo.com.

There was a time when you were looking at a show, and pressed INFO, that a screen came up with all the info that TiVo had on a show. Directors, writers, misc info, and especially the full cast. It even noted guest stars.
Now the screen that pops up is a miserable little display, that contains about 10% of what TiVo has on a show.
SO... is there a way to get more info? Or the old display? This is a Roamio, running HDUI
I have a WL with a keyword "ASPEN". This VH1 show "Model Employee" is in the To-Do List, because it meets the criteria. I couldn't figure out why, but had a suspicion it was an actor named Aspen. The INFO screen is useless. It lists 3 or 4 names, and that's it. A Google search shows Aspen Brandy Lea is one of the stars, so now I know what to Boolean out. But really, isn't there a better way to do this? Why have we gone backwards on this?
Or am I missing something?
Open Letter to Betanews.com:)
I wanted to inform you and your readers that TiVo snuck in the Opera SDK browser in the series 4 devices just a few weeks ago. Download KMTTG and choose the tab (Web) from drop box choose HTML and type or paste an url and then hit Execute or push enter. This sends a hidden command to launch the browser, to navigate with slide remote or TiVo append choose the mouse - touch from keyboard.
Currently these devices are not authorized for Opera Tv Store yet.
Based on this test it looks like we will be getting the same functions as the Roamio.
ps I am unable to reach out to TCM as nobody else has reported on this.
I was even able to get my Plex internal server signed in, but had trouble playing.
I obtained the update my putting my TSN on the Priority Download List for the Fall update.
If KMTTG is unable to send the web command to your box you did not get the update.
Started out I was just going to buy a Roamio Pro and be done with it. Then I liked it so much I decided to replace two of my Charter provided DVR's with Two Tivo Mini's.
My connection for the Mini's was a bit flaky and I didn't know why?? You just plug them in and they work, Right?? ;) Sounds easy right? Well it is once one gets the coax in the house properly configured!
Turns out I had two Drops coming into my house from the utility pole, one for the main TV/Internet/Telephone and the other supplied 3 bedrooms and the Man Cave. The MoCA connection would work most of the time but I didn't realize it was routing all the way out to the utility pole (and further probably) and back!
Now everything is connected to the same drop. I added a POE MoCA Filter at the drop in my utility box. All is working well now but I may make a new run to the Internet Box and the Telephone and move them over to the now unused drop, then again I may just leave it alone as all is working very nicely!
I still have two active Charter DVR's left, pondering on replacing them with Mini's also.... Does that mean I could then cancel my Charter DVR service altogether?
I love it when a Plan Comes Together!
So yesterday morning I reran guided setup because my cable company got a new lineup and the new channels were not added automatically. After it was over it appeared to work, but some of the scheduling was off. (I was missing a bunch of stuff on Wednesday) I tried forcing a call and got a failed error. Tried rebooting, rearranging the SP manager, and a few other things but nothing worked. So I assumed the new lineup was corrupted so I did a clear guide data. Turns out all my problems were being cause by TiVo's servers being down, but I didn't know that at the time.
Anyway there were some really weird side effects from doing the clear guide data I wanted to report...
1) Everything in Recently Deleted was restored so my TiVo was now showing 100% full. I had to manually go through the list and re-delete all the stuff I had already watched.
2) All the recordings I had that were transferred from my Premiere were suddenly marked KUID. I never mark anything as KUID.
3) A couple of shows I had transferred from my Premiere which are not currently airing lost their grouping.
All of these were unexpected and really weird so I figured I'd put them out there in case TiVo decides to read this thread or to warn others who might be considering doing this type of clear.
My Roamio Pro shows 59% disk usage, but on the iOS Tivo App, it shows 79%. I have had this problem since I bought my Roamio Pro over three months ago. There have been a few updates to the iOS Tivo App since that time, but they still haven't fixed this problem. How hard can it be to fix this minor bug? How long is it going to take?
Does anybody know if you are able to use the RF functionality of the Logitech Harmony Ultimate remote to control the Roamio?
It works fine through IR now, however the difference in speed between the Tivo and Harmony remotes are like night and day!
I have already tried setting the Inter-key delays to the lowest settings, but I have not been able to duplicate the speed of the Harmony through IR.
Lo and behold, the TiVo-powered RCN2Go video portal appears to have soft launched for RCN cable customers. While details remain sparse, RCN TiVo subscribers now have access to an “exclusive preview” that features “hundreds of shows” — and, ultimately, all RCN subscribers will receive access at a later date, albeit without TiVo-specific DVR management capabilities. I have a Roamio Pro that has all 6 tuners active (as far as I know, I haven't messed with the configuration). I'm having random channel drops and some of the posts on this forum suggest that while the Roamio Pro is capable of managing 6 tuners, the providers and CableCards are not. I'm on Time Warner. Should I drop to 5 or 4 tuners?
I know this is a minor issue but for some reason I just feel like the Mini UI should be updated to match the current UI on the Roamio. The color palette is different and the Roamio looks so much better. It will help with a more seamless feel of a whole home DVR setup.
I did submit the suggestion to Tivo but who knows where they go and if it's just a black hole.
I'm recording this. Sounds like it will be a "blast from the past" so to speak. Film noir is always interesting.
