Apologize right off the bat if I am posting in wrong forum....I figure this is best place since app update is driven towards Roamio Stream functions.
I know the big thing is the out of home streaming...but anyone noticing smaller things. For instance:
- 1. I may be imagining things but is background downloading now possible?
- 2. I see there is a third level of streaming and recording quality - must be to facilitate out of home streaming
- 3. Is the downloading of shows now more fault tolerant (it has been the case that as soon as a download is interrupted by network traffic, the whole thing times out and you have to restart)
- Anything else?
On 1 and 3: these are probably more wishful thinking on my part: but just curious as to what others may be seeing
Over the past week, my Series 3 (the one with the LED front panel) has been experiencing pixelation issues on EVERY station. This applies to both recorded shows and live TV. Sometimes it is just annoying, other times it makes the shows unwatchable. I have replaced the hard drive a few years back so it isn't the original drive.
I have another TiVo, a Premiere, attached to the same TV connected to the same splitter. I even tried switching the cables to see if it was a splitter issue, but the Premiere was fine while the S3 still had the problem.
I checked the signal strength and all stations were above 90 even when I could see the pixelation occurring.
Recordings from before the pixelation started play back fine.
Any thoughts? Failing hard drive? Power supply?
Hot on the heels of Roamio’s out-of-home streaming release, TiVo and Sling have begun trading blows online. And, once again, TiVo is positioning their DVR as the One Box. However, unlike the Premiere platform, they have a much more compelling argument this time around… featuring that aforementioned streaming and a usable Netflix client. However, without [...]

For sale are my personal TiVo HD (Series3) units. The first was PROM modded by myself many years ago, the second was modded last year (also myself). I have the original PROM chips laying around somewhere if you really want them. The units come with stock 11.0m w/ telnet activated (that's it. Anything else is on your own).
Upgraded Hard Drive 1 week after purchase to a Samsung Spinpoint 1TB (F3 series, IIRC).
Product Lifetime Service
New (still wrapped!) remote, batteries, A/V cables, Power cable, and HDMI cable
Includes original retail box, manual, start guide, and original packaging
The box itself (not the TiVo) has some plaster on it from storage, but other than that everything is in great condition.
These seem to be going for around $300 on eBay right now. Let's start at $380 shipped because of the PROM mod and 1TB. Open to offers.
Stock 160GB Hard drive
Product Lifetime Service
Remote in good condition, new set of AV cables, new HDMI cable, new power cable
Includes retail box (outer label does not match the TSN, though), manual, start guide, and original packaging
This is PROM modded, so I'll start at $340 shipped. And once again, open to reasonable offers.
TiVo 802.11g USB adapter - used, but in great condition.
Comes with just the adapter and USB cable.
$20 shipped. $10 if included with either TiVo above.
Pictures available on request (as well as proof of PROM modding). As for my background - I've been a member on this and other TiVo forums for years and dslreports.com (since 2001). The TiVos have been in service 24/7 until I unplugged them a few months ago. No issues whatsoever.
British chef-dude Jamie Oliver does a show about making stuff out of the bits in your fridge and cupboard you'd normally chuck in the waste bin.
TiVoHD box upgraded with 1TB drive and lifetime service - $250
Unused Peanut remote and all cables, accessories, manuals and original box.
Would like to sell locally in the Philly area but if elsewhere add actual shipping costs.

This seems a massive rip off. The main Tivo is the only one receiving the guides and scheduling things. So I don't understand how Tivo gets away with charging so much just to connect a Mini.
Is this a legit thing or simply what it appears like: a massive rip-off?
I've been getting more an more upset with Tivo lately. I pay a huge amount of money to buy the device and to pay for service plan and yet I still have to put up with advertisements within the Tivo itself. I wouldn't mind if there was an "advertisement section" of Tivo where you navigate to and watch the advertisements at your choosing. But popping those things up when I Pause etc infuriates me.
Is the Mini just another way to rip-off the customer? For the first time I'm starting to look at dropping Tivo because of things like this.
My premier is recording 2 programs, I just finished watching a 3 day old recorded program, now every program I try to watch first shows the rotating blue circle, then goes to blue screen with stationary circle and says one moment. Then nothing until it drops back to tivo central and the blue circle is spinning in shadow, then goes away. Leaving the mane menu. I switched to the SD menu and now I can play the programs.
What does the HD menu have to do with recorded shows playing? Anybody else have this problem?
Has anyone else noticed that the recent Netflix profiles upgrade has disappeared? It was there this morning but seems to have reverted to the single profile with Netflix and Netflix for kids options. I've been getting daily Tivo reboots lately while using Netflix and wondering if they're still tinkering with it. BTW, still have profiles on PS3 and BluRay platforms (and no reboot issue).
I know the channel became TRU TV, or something like that, but I assumed they would still show some live tv, high profile court cases? I guess that's not the case?
Is this type programming being aired on any channel nowadays? Some of those trials could be riveting.
With our new Roamio, I would like to see if I can improve the quality of suggestions. I know all about the thumbs up and down; I would like to know if there is a way to tell TiVo that I would prefer that it record movies over shows. Is this possible?
I installed pyTivo (v1p0i, I think) a few days ago, and it seemed to run OK.
Now when I try to run it, it doesn't finish the initialization in the cmd window, and the GUI never starts. The PC runs Win7-64, the Tivo is a Roamio basic.
I have rebooted the Tivo and the PC, but no joy. Tried reinstalling pyTivo, same result. Any ideas? Here is a copy of the cmd window text:

Why am I surprised that this Piece of Sh*t software doesn't work. As a matter of fact I have had more problems with the Roamio's then any other product from Tivo. I can't even get the basic streaming in house working on either unit.
It took me three weeks fighting with Tivo to prove to them that the problem was on their side when I lost the ability to do MRV all of the sudden. Spent days jumping through their hoops to prove to them it was on their side before they would move the case to tier two.
I had better success using the premiere and a stand alone stream then with this combo unit. I swear once my year is up I am dropping this like a bad habit and getting a sling box to do the streaming with a cable box. For all of you who do have it working good luck I hope it continues to stay working for you.
While Uber is generally known as the modernized, Internet-connected car service, a friend-of-a-friend has discovered it can also be used for efficient local delivery. Of course, the rates may exceed a specialized service like Takeout Taxi and your driver may object, but the courier/delivery possibilities seem nearly endless. And this Southern Californian had a driver [...]

Great episode. All three romances had some airtime, and some progress.
[Raj--at least he had a scene talking to Penny. Can we get the boy a gf already?]
The song at the end... incredible, moving. And almost as amazing as Penny's dress.;)
Sheldon: "Sheldon Cooper does not get lucky!"
Amy: "You and me both, brother."
Leonard: "Is that a pregnancy test?"
Penny: "Oh yeah, just the first one. I didnt save them all."

And so it begins. Let's put the OAD and episode title in the post title (or in the beginning of your post, if you can't load the post title) for the first post about the new episode each week. It makes it easier when people are not caught up to the current episode.
All-Stars really bugs me -- it's just not as satisfying as the original show -- but it's like a train-wreck, I can't help watching.
And of course the producers have gone out of their way to load the show with designers I really wanted to see again -- and designers I never wanted to see again.
Three former winners? Seriously, PR?
Is anyone else game for this?
I'm sure everyone is exited to try the OOH streaming, but I'm still having issues in home.
Streaming is generally very high quality (HD), but freezes often. Usually every 5 to 10 seconds. My wifi speed is generally excellent. I have one of the newer Asus AC routers (RT-AC66U).
The router config is pretty much stock (no QoS enabled or anything). This issue seems to happen regardless of other network traffic.
Anyone else having this problem or have suggestions on settings? Am I right in suspecting the router is a problem? As it exists not, the streaming is pretty much useless for me.
I have the entry level Roamio w/a Tivo Stream add-on box. After I installed Tivo Stream the regular high speed scrubbing no longer works in the Tivo ipad App. The new scrub bar for "Watch on iPad" works fine. But the scrub bar for watching TV using the Tive IOS Remote app doesn't work. Moving the bar does nothing.
