Big Brother will be shown on WLNY-55 TV this Thursday at 9pm. Jets football will be on WCBS.

It is channel 55 on FIOS and 10 on Cablevision (not all systems). Not sure what channel it is on with the other systems in the NYC Metro area.

Amazon HD File Playback Issues

I bought the Basic to record both OTA and get Amazon HD TV shows because of the excellent PQ.

Since starting this two weeks ago, I regularly see some pixellation at times with playback, granted its minor and not often throughout the show. The other problem is, out of about 15 shows watch, 2 have been corrupted and locked up part of the way through. This is not huge, because I just get on chat and Amazon will force a new download that ends up playing back fine.

Im not sure if this has been common, or is just a Roamio bug. Resolution has nothing to do with it, because itll happen at the same point every time regardless of settings, and since a new fine will play fine, it leads me to believe its a tivo issue either when it writes it to the drive, or when it plays it back.

Just wondering if anyone is seeing this, or if its been a problem on other models?

HOw long does it take to remove an external hard drive?

I am removing my external hard drive and resetting my Premiere. Its been on the removing hard drive screen for about an 1 1/2 hours. Is this normal. How long should it take?

Does anyone remember how long it takes for GC and Indexing to complete?

I have an S3 OLED which I was just able to recover from a GSOD loop situation.

My shows were all there and it connected and fully downloaded the guide data.

However it doesn't show any shows as recording in the todo list and when I view upcoming episodes, nothing shows up.

I think this is due to tivo still running GC and Indexing on the large 2 week set of data it downloaded, but I am not sure. Possibly something I did to resolve the GSOD loop messed things up.

I always thought it did the GC/Indexing as the last step of the connect to the mothership (ie "Loading"), but the System Information page says

My other S3 OLED says "Idle, since..."

It is a little disconcerting right now because nothing shows up as recording in the todo list and nothing shows up under view upcoming episodes, even though there is guide data for 13 days. While I think this is all because the GC/Indexing isn't done yet, I'm not sure if that is just a red-herring and I messed something else up. Also even if just takes a while, I'm not sure if it'll get done before 8pm primetime hits and it needs to record stuff.

I've read about other units having trouble with indexing guide data forcing their owners to manually force the indexing. Hopefully that isn't the situation here.

Mini always on = tuner always in use?

I have a Roamio Pro and no Mini yet. I know the Mini has DTA now to release the tuner when not in use.

So if on the Mini, I turn on my TV and tell it to tune to live tv and a particular channel, then I shut my TV off, but do NOT put the Mini in Standby (since I don't believe there is an off?), what happens?

1) Will the Roamio tuner continue to be on live tv and tuned to the channel I previously set (so when I power the TV back on live TV will be playing)?

2) Will it somehow realize I am no longer watching TV and it releases the tuner (bringing me back to the start / Tivo Central page)?

3) Other?

How to stop playback and delete show?

How do I delete the recorded show I am watching?

On my FiOS DVR this is easy, play stop delete.
On Roamio this is difficult, play tivo recordings find what I was watching delete.

Surely there must be an easier way?

Cablevision Long Island NDS V58 errors

I have a Roamio Pro and am a Cablevision subscriber on Long Island.
They seem to only support NDS cards.

I sporadically/periodically/randomly/often receive V58 errors when changing channels. And I'll often go to watch a recorded show only to find a black screen.

What is wrong? What can I do?

I can change the channel a few times and the it will eventually come back.

I really enjoy the new YouTube ap on my new Roamio.
But, when a video is playing, I can only FF and RW in 10 second increments, with each time I hit the button. I see what looks like on-screen controls when I'm doing this, but can't select them.

Anyone else having this problem?

I'm not a Showtime sub, so I was wondering, outside of torrents, if the older seasons are streaming anywhere? I was hoping Netflix, but unfortunately no. I know Netflix has other Showtime series available for streaming (US of Tara and Weeds are ones I've watched), but not this one. FWIW, I'm an Amazon Prime member too.

Premiere 4 Problems

We've had a Tivo HD for several years, but when the hard drive crashed earlier this summer, we replaced it with a Premiere 4 -- and have had several ongoing problems:

At first: it would seemingly randomly not record shows listed on the season pass. The Daily Show for example would record some days...and not others...even when they were all "new" shows. When we checked the history, it gave the reason as "No Signal".

We first contacted Comcast and got a replacement cable card, and now do not have the problem happen as frequently as it was occuring.

Other problems:

I understood it was supposed to be able to record three shows and watch a fourth show. We can sometimes get two shows recording at a time -- and then when you try to change to a third show it gives error messages and locks up.

Often when we hit the "Live TV" button on the remote, it just starts flipping through channels and you can't stop it.

The MOCA worked for a couple weeks...and then simply stopped working: only one of the three lights would come on, and for days it would try to connect to the Tivo Service and give messages about not being connected to the internet. We finally disconnected the MOCA entirely and connected it wirelessly with the hardware from the previous Tivo HD.

We've tried restarting the Tivo multple times. Restarting the cable connection. Disconnecting everything and reconnecting.

Any ideas or suggestions? We almost never had any issues with the previous Tivo and this is nothing but problems.

Tivo rep said they "hope to release a learning remote for the Roamio"

I am out of luck with programming the Roamio remote to my Vizio soundbar, so I decided to email tivo an they sent me this:

Thank you for contacting TiVo Customer Support. I apologize for the troubles you've had with programming your remote. I would be more than happy to help you with this!

Unfortunately if you were unable to program the remote using the codes listed as well as the code search, there would not be an option to use the TiVo Remote to control your soundbar.

We do hope to release a learning remote for the Roamio models, but at this time do not have an estimation as to when this would be available. You can use the Premiere remotes with the Roamio if you would like access to a learning remote now. The Glo Remote is compatible, but would not offer RF compatibility as the standard Roamio remote does. The Glo Remote can be found here: https://www.tivo.com/shop/accessories#remote-controls

Tivo Roamio with Comcast: VOD freezes. Problem solved!

I have a Tivo Roamio plus and Comcast Xfinity service. After installing my Tivo, everything worked but I got the dreaded Video on Demand (VOD) freeze problem that so many other people complained about. A VOD show would start and then the screen and sound would freeze 2-3 seconds later, but the progress would continue to advance.

I contacted Comcast support using the online chat, and the representative helped me fix the problem. (By the way, I recommend getting support online instead of on the phone; the phone techs don't know what they're doing and you'll spend time getting bounced from person to person, giving your account info over and over again. It's enough to drive a person crazy.)

Here is what the online rep told me she did to fix the problem:

She added the "Tivo Premier Cable Card Install" code, which is a free $0.00 code. When she first added it to my account, the problem didn't go away; I still got the freeze. Then she removed the code and added it again. At that point, my VOD started working.

When I asked her why it was so difficult to solve the problem, she said, "we need to really look for it, for the name is not labelled correctly in some accounts." So apparently the proper billing code is hard to find in their system. If they tell you it doesn't exist, let them know what this service rep told me.

I hope this helps someone else save time.
