Based on a prematurely published blog post, we’ve learned that the refreshed TiVo QWERTY remote leaked by the WSJ is the real deal and presumably launching this week. The TiVo Slide Pro Remote is backlit, featuring both IR and RF capabilities that link to a single TiVo box. Beyond the obvious keyboard convenience, when mated to a [...]

Does the TiVo service need to be connected in order to use Live TV? My Tvio connections comes up as failed often due to flaky wireless. I am trying to activate my cablecard, but am getting this error. Not sure if its an issue on my end or cable company.
This channel is not authorized. Contact your cable provider for more information (V58).
I want to get a Roamio basic model and a mini. I would use MoCA to connect the mini to the network. I have Fios so internet access is already available via MoCA. Can I use the built-in wifi in the roamio to stream to the mini? I know this isn't supported, but will it work if my network is fast enough or will the tivo not even try to use it to stream? If it wouldn't use that, how about if I use one of the tivo wifi n adapters that plug into the ethernet port so that it would think it had an ethernet connection?
Hello to all the experienced Tivo users....
I plead (!!) for your help....
Here is what I have:
Roamio Basic (hardwired ethernet and coaxial cable connection). This unit is setup fine.
Trying to connect my Tivo Mini... I assume I cannot just plug my coaxial cable connection in and expect it to work off the bat.
Can anybody please tell me the specific equipment I would need to get this to run? I don't have a readily available ethernet cable to simply plug the Tivo Mini into.
Any help would be have my deepest gratitude.
All my best,
I've found that if you leave the THR22 on a DTV music channel for a long time (hours) you usually lose the status bar on any other TV channel that you subsequently tune to and also on other tuner, losing the ability to pause or rewind. You can only get the status bar back by switching the unit to standby and bringing it back on. Then, all is fine.
Is this a known issue?
In case any one is interested, a post showed up in my RSS reader today regarding the rumored new Tivo Slide remote. The link in the post doesn't work, but I am posting the text that was included.
Thought you had it good with your TiVo remote? Well, you do. But you can have it even better. Enhance your TiVo experience with the new TiVo Slide Pro Remote! Not only does it have a slide out QWERTY keyboard and fully backlit buttons to make searching and text entry faster/easier/dark-room-friendly, but it has an ergonomic exterior that makes it sleeker than ever. And dont worry its not just a prettier face. The TiVo Slide Pro Remote has a more powerful signal. In addition to IR, it has an ...
I've been a Tivo Customer for nearly ten years now, and with my wife and I moving into our new place, we decided it would be time to upgrade from our two Series 3 boxes to a Roamio Plus connected to three Tivo Mini's. I have Comcast and live about 40 miles south of Boston.
It was a nice plan, except for the past week we can't get the Roamio to work. It seems we've narrowed the issue down to the Cisco CableCard which seems to accept the "pings" but otherwise fails to load the channels that I'm entitled to receive. As a result, I'm left with V53 errors on every channel.
I'm on my fourth cable card, I've had two techs to the house, run the guided setup half a dozen times, and had probably a dozen calls each to both Comcast and Tivo technical support. Over the objections of the tech support, Tivo now has a new Roamio Plus on the way, being that's really the only variable that hasn't been changed at this point. We tried hooking the Tivo directly to the pole with no spitters. It should be noted Signal is in the high 90's and SNR were deemed to be really good.
And as one would expect, Tivo points the finger at Comcast and Comcast says this is Tivo's fault, with the last Comcast Tier 2 tech suggesting this is a 20.3.x firmware issue. (My firmware version is 188.8.131.52a-USA-6-848)
I don't know much about CableCards, but here's the info they always ask for, along with what the Tivo techs think is the issue (Active Programs and the lack of a program index):
CableCard CA Screen > Status: "Ready"
CableCard CA Screen > Active Programs: "No Information Available"
CableCard DAVIC Info > Status: Locked
CableCard CP Info > Auth Status: CP Auth Received
Info for pgm index 0-5
[LTSID - PN - CCI - ERR]
0x0 - 0x0 - 0x0 - 0x0 (repeats for six rows)
Anyways, if this isn't resolved soon, I'm going to have to end up sending back the nearly $1,800 in Tivo equipment I recently purchased. Their fault or not, I was very disappointed by the reaction of the last Tivo technical support person which was "get a fifth CableCard".
Any help troubleshooting this is appreciated. Let me know if any more diagnostic info would be helpful. Because Tivo, Comcast, and I sure as hell seem to be **** empty out of ideas.
How is it possible Tivo still doesn't have a way to do this? Their developers waste their time on stupid apps and not something that would make people more likely to upgrade to a new model?
I received email today for a promo code to upgrade my Premiere to Roamio with up to $200 off, and I considered it, but then I thought what a giant pain it was when I upgraded to the Premiere from a Series 2 and lost years worth of thumb ratings. It sounds like all I can transfer are my recordings and my season passes?
Maybe there's some unsupported way to do this? Or should I just figure that my Premiere is good enough for now and hope that maybe by the time Roamio is replaced they'll finally provide something useful in a software update, instead of a new UI for Netflix or once again ignoring some of the long standing bugs in basic functionality?
I wouldn't mind having 4 tuners, once in a while I have conflicts with 2, and I could use a bit more hard drive space. But I guess I don't want those things enough to be forced to start fresh again. Does Tivo really gain more sales having a Youtube app than they lose from loyal customers who think like I do? I doubt it.

Do WHAT? Mermaids can freely roam between worlds? Lamest deus ex machina EVAR.
In the previous episode they Pan told them to string up Neal's cage "next to the other one". My co-worker was sure it was Rumple, and I thought it was Ariel's Eric. Evidently it's neither, so who do you think it is? Who have we forgotten about that should reappear in the nick of time to help save Henry, or do you think it's a new character? Pinocchio? Mad Hatter?
What a shame Regina and Rumple weren't there at Echo Cave... that would have been fun. So, why not just send one person in to rescue Neal? The cave can't know how many in your party are waiting outside. Or for that matter, why couldn't Neal rescue himself? Another lame plot device. :(
"Es ist nicht gut!"
That was some Gawdawful singing.
It was funny how Pinky was planning to frame the Afghanimals for taking the cab, but she got busted when the other team saw the bags in the cab at the next stop.
This is partially a vent message but need some info as well...
I ran into an issue the other night and figured I'd call TiVO's tech support, but to say they were less than helpful is an understatement, I was told in no simple terms "We don't support network switches" and I'd have to reconfigure my network for them to assist me, they refused to go any further.
I gave up with their support and found the issue on my own and it turns out to be a bug with the TiVO unit and how it selects WiFi or Wired ethernet (didn't try MoCA). This all stems from when I initially setup the Roamio, I initially connected it
via WiFi (802.11G), the Roamio successfully found the SSID and I entered my WPA2 key. At that point I let the TiVO go about its merry way with all its updates and connections back to the mothership, all without incident.
After the initial configuration and downloads were complete I moved the unit to its final location and simply connected the ethernet, I was surprised to see that the unit automatically identified that ethernet was connected and the setup screens shows that the connection type was indeed ethernet and the wireless was no longer being used and showed no configuration for the wireless. Great somebody in development was thinking, if ethernet was in use shutdown wireless.
Well turns out wireless isn't actually shutdown as I found the TiVO's 2 MAC addresses (one for the TiVO and one for the built in Stream) were bouncing between two ethernet ports on my switch in rapid succession, the port the TiVO was physically connected to and the port the wireless A/P was connected to. What did surprise me is that TiVO uses the same MAC addresses on ethernet as they do on WiFi which didn't help the situation.
At this point I believe I've stopped the TiVO from using wireless, I ended up disconnecting the ethernet and pointing the TiVO to an invalid SSID/password combination, disabled WiFi and reconnected the Ethernet. Now the performance of the TiVO stream portion appears to roughly match what TiVO claims will be the transfer times (still slow but moving a steady 3 to 4 Mb/s).
So since TiVO's customer support was less than helpful, I'm guessing they have no interest in logging a bug either since I'm an "unsupported configuration" (my router is separate from my switch) even though I have confirmed the network behavior of the TiVO is just plain wrong.
My final question is how do I positively confirm the WiFi is shutdown so that it doesn't attempt to connect to the bogus A/P I pointed it to?
I have Moca set up using a Roamio and I have an elite on the Moca network in another room. Can I use the ethernet port on the elite to provide wired internet in that room? I thought that it was supposed to do that, but so far, I'm not having any luck. Thanks
Didn't see that coming!
So Rick doesn't want to be a leader and make decisions until he wants to be a leader and make decisions?
So at random times he just up and decides to make these enormous calls that affect everyone?
How nice that he can pick and choose when to involve himself.
Looked like a good time to involve the council if you ask me.
If they're so afraid that Tyrese would kill her, hows about maybe preventing that from happening?
Or keep the knowledge within the council.
They're going to miss her and they'll be divided over it anyway.
Can't wait to see how Rick spins it when he returns.
I half expected Carol to run him down after she turned her car around.
We haven't seen the last of her. And I still wouldn't call what she did cold blooded murder- there was a small chance that it could have worked.
Losing the hippie kids (at least the girl) was sad.
They were so upbeat and folks need people like that.
As opposed to Tyrese who is annoying me to tears. Get it together man.
Every Sunday night I download shows from my Roamio Plus to my iPhone just before going to bed. My WiFi signal is usually pretty good in my upstairs bedroom even though the router is in the basement. In the past, if the wifi signal wasnt strong enough, the download would stop and I would have to start it up again in the morning. That wasnt a big deal until now with the recent updated capability of the TiVo app.
Last night I guess the wi-fi signal wasnt strong enough. So you can guess what the iPhone did - that's right - it switched to CELLULAR DATA AND USED UP ALMOST MY ENTIRE DATA ALLOWANCE.
I knew something was amiss when I got an email this morning from Verizon stating that I am close to using my alloted data allowance. That has NEVER happened to me before. I checked my data usage on verizon.com and sure enough at 3am a big usage spike ocurred. So now I may not have to restart downloads any more if they fail, but the TiVo app will suck up my data allowance.
Dear Tivo, If you're listening, PLEASE add an option to restrict downloads to WiFi ONLY. Thank you
I was looking forward to what the previews promised was going to be either the final or at least the penultimate RJ episode. Too bad it was replaced by a re-run, at least in my area. Though they did run the previews for S06E07 "The Great Red Dragon" at the end (which I tried to ignore in case of spoilers).
If anyone's seen the real episode yet, what did you think?
Was this episode a rerun for everyone else, or just me?
Anyone know when the real episode will air (since I'll have to record it manually)?
Will it matter if I replace my HDD with a 3.0 or 6.0 Gb/s or if the drive RPM speed matters?
If anyone wants to learn more about what goes on at Gitmo, I remember seeing a documentary on TV about it before. I'm pretty sure it was National Geographic: Inside Guantanamo. It is available on Netflix streaming...
I liked the Lamborghini piece but it seemed more like corporate PR fluff, which I'm sure parent VW liked. I've seen other documentaries on Lambo production before.
