From TiVo's earnings call,
Our Comcast offering, which is their only product that brings together traditional linear television, operator video on-demand and the most popular broadband video offerings all in one experience, has been well received by subscribers in Boston and the San Francisco Bay Area, the first markets to offer the service. Comcast will make the TiVo offering available in Sacramento, Portland, and Denver next, and we expect multiple more markets to launch this year.
Even if you aren't a Ross fan, the show is pretty good as he gets his comedian friends to come in and comment on various current events or people in the news. It does have a segment that seems like it was stolen directly from Tosh.O but generally the show is a good 1/2 comedy show. During the first 2 shows he went to Sarah Silvermann's house and John Stamos' house for about 5 minutes and he ragged on them and they ragged on him. Pretty funny.
Looks like it's gonna be a wild one

I have a Series 4 that WILL NOT connect to my Linksys E2000 Router
when I have the following settings. Under Wireless - Wireless MAC Filter.
When it is Enabled - Permit PC Listed Below. And I have the MAC Address
entered into the Table; I can't get connected to the "N" Adapter on the Tivo.
If I Disable the Wireless MAC Filter, Then the Tivo will connect.
It makes NO since, since the MAC Address is "CORRECT" in the Table!!!
Any thoughts, out their?
What is the total capacity a TiVo Premiere XL4 can recognize? IOW, if I plug in a 1 TB MyDVR external drive into an XL4 with an internal 2 TB hard drive, will it see all 3 TB as usable space or is there a limit lower than 3 TB?
I have the bad habit of submitting my phone expenses in ~6 month chunks (2nd phone line to my home office ~$32.00/mo, and then Ooma expenses for our India Office ~$14.00/mo). I submitted Apr thru Aug this morning.
Our HR guy is now stating IRS rules limit reimbursements to just TWO months. I have been under the impression (over the last 15yrs of working in this consultative environment) that the IRS was mostly concerned with client-billable reimbursements. These phone expenses are not client billable.
I don't plan to argue the internal policy here; I am mostly just curious the IRS piece of his objection.
Anyone have an opinion on this topic?
I'm currently deciding between a Tivo 4 and and a Tivo XL4. I was looking at the specifications page on the tivo website, and it says under THX®sound and video certification:
Premiere 4: Not THX® Certified
Premiere XL4: THX® Certified, Dolby 5.1
The way it looks on the actual chart is ambiguous. Does that mean that the XL4 is the only tivo that can output 5.1 surround sound? If so that's very surprising to me.
Also, as far as THX certification goes, has anyone directly compared the sound/picture quality of the XL4 vs. the regular 4? My guess is that the XL4 and 4 probably share the same hardware/software (other than hard drive) but that the XL4 is the only one to go through testing. Probably nobody outside of tivo knows for sure, but maybe some people have done a head to head comparison? if so, can you tell the difference?
P.S. I was a directivo user back in the day....finally had enough with my crappy comcast DVR. It feels good to know that i'll be "coming home." :)

I want to purchase a Premiere for my bedroom. In the living room I have a Time Warner cable box and in the bedroom I just have cable running to Series 2 Tivo with no cable box. I only receive about 60 channels on bedroom TV now.
Since the Premiere is supposed to act like a cable box will I now receive all 300+ channels that I get through the TW box in my bedroom through the Tivo Premiere?
Zack, Eph much younger son. I will have a full review what follows at Mania very soon! Is the writing any benefit in this book? This was absolutely awful in the first. It was as if Del Toro had made raptor 7 a great outline and passed it on to junior graduating college

TiVo Stream DVR-to-iOS transcoder box pops up for $129 pre-orders early
We haven't heard a lot about TiVo's Stream transcoder since it was officially unveiled in May, but today emails went out to winners of a Facebook contest informing them they can pre-order one for $129 (plus shipping) and receive it on September 5th. In case you've forgotten what its capabilities are, the notice shown above from Zatz Not Funny also includes a description of its capabilities which include streaming shows to up to three different mobile devices (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) in the home at once, streaming a show to your mobile as it's recorded, or wirelessly transferring shows to the device to view them on the move, TiVoToGo-style. Those interested will of course need a Premiere series DVR that's hard-wired to a router, but with that it's just a one time fee to easily cut the tether on TV content. Interestingly, a few TiVo Community posters report being able to preorder from the listed number without being in the contest, so if you're already intending to jump just pick up the phone and give it a shot.

It seems like I need to reboot my tuning adapters(3)more now a days then after I first got them. Anything I can to fix this?
I have an upgraded 1TB Series3 (648-0001-8020-B01B). Can I get away with one M-cablecard when I switch to FiOS from Cablevision? I want to maintain dual tuner functionality.
Last year, I activated some option that allowed TiVo to automatically start a season pass for every new show on TV for the season.
I kind of liked that feature.
Is there some way for me to turn that on again for this year? Will it happen automatically?
I have discovered that after I have been playing around in the TiVo YouTube Service on my Premiere, then returning to main TiVo, playing any recording no longer functions correctly.
When you launch to view any recording, the screen just sits there blank (black color). If I bring up the progress bar I find that the file is actually running, but at an accelerated rate, and nothing on the screen but blackness.
The only way to clear the problem is to restart the TiVo unit.
After I have restarted, I bring up the recording I had tried to play, I find that it now plays fine but from the point it left off in the accelerated play it was experiencing before the restart.
Streaming non- HD from Netflix through TiVo works okay. However, with HD you get sound and only a gray screen. This is been tried with multiple programs with the same result so it does not appear to be related to any individual Netflix program.
We tried changing out the wireless connection to the TiVo for a cat 5 cable no change. The TiVo is connected via HDMI to a Yamaha RXV-1900 receiver and on to a Sony TV via another HDMI cable. (By the way, the TV shows the resolution of 720 P HD.) The Netflix people suggest that maybe there's some copy protection thing going on at the receiver side that is blanking out the picture, and that maybe by routing the TiVo to the TV and back to the receiver (which would be a mess) might help. Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions or experience with this type of situation to offer, it will be most appreciated! This is a very frustrating problem. Many thanks!
I've tried searching Google but can't seem to find anything with an answer. Last night I was watching my brand new TiVo Premiere XL when all of a sudden the THX screen came up in what seemed like a crash.
Since then it kicked me into the SDUI and I cant get back into HDUI menus. I checked to make sure there was a broadband connection, I reconnected to the TiVo service multiple times, switched inputs from Component to HDMI and also tried playing around with the quality settings, 480p,720p,1080i,etc. I've also restarted it and pulled the power cable out.
Interestingly enough there is no option in Settings -> Settings -> Displays -> for changing the SDUI back to the HDUI (which I had to change to HDUI the very first time I opened the box.)
Does anyone have any ideas how to fix it? TiVo's forums dont seem to be of much help.
Thanks for any and all help :)
