Looks like BBCA is shuffling some things around. According to their blog post dated April 4th
, the fifth and final season of "Being Human" (UK) was supposed to premiere in the States on June 8th, and the three part mini-series "In the Flesh" was supposed to premiere on August 3rd.
The latest post dated May 22nd
, now has "In the Flesh" starting two months early on June 6th, and "Being Human" starting one month later on July 13th.
Just thought I'd let those that are interested know.
Hi All, I have a Tivo Premiere that is working well but at times I approach 90% so I delete HD series I don't watch...
I have a 1tb esata drive already installed, I am thinking about upgrading the internal drive through weakness.
If I did weaknees I'd go with (2) TB drives + the $79 delux upgrade where they copy my settings and recordings from my Premiere to my new hard drives.
- Replace your drive(s) with 640 Hours* - Two 2 TB Drives - more info
- $399.99 - Eligible for Free Ground Shipping
Debating getting a Premiere xl4 but my $7 monthly will go up to $13.
Not terrible, that's a cup of coffee but something to consider.
What other advantages are there to a new box besides the 4 tuners, rarely do I have a need to record more than 2 shows at once.
So I'm currently with TivoHD and Premiere XL4 and will be changing from TW to Verizon FIOS.
If I re-run the guided setup what do I lose (I think you have to do that when you change cable cards AND providers??)
I don't think the season passes should be lost, because you can use that tivo season pass manager (or at the least, move them to one of my other Tivo's and move it back).
But what about recordings?
It's been ages since I've had to run a guided setup.
Does the motherboard on a Tivo HD DVR go bad very often? Any experiences?
Many times I am watching a recording and I switch to live TV. If I am within the last five minutes I get the menu to delete or keep. I don't want to delete obviously and if I hit keep, the bookmark is lost. So, I learned that if you know you are near the end, hit pause before hitting the live button. If you hit live and get the menu, you have to hit rewind and then pause and then live.
Frankly I wish the menu choice didn't exist, but maybe others feel it is useful?
Has anyone successfully removed and installed the chip on another Tivo DVR?
I was just passed a TIVO that was not booting. STUCK at welcome screen. The power was cut off to the device abruptly and it hasn't boot since. Everything points to the HD having failed in reading however I remove the drive and I can hear and feel it spinning. I plugged the drive into windows 8 and in the system management I can see the unallocated 1TB drive.
Did I just mess up the boot sector?
I feel this drive has some life and would like to wipe and restart it. Everything I have read appears to require backing up the existing working drive and using this image on the new drive. I am not upgrading to larger disk, just hoping I can make the current one work.
Can someone please guide me. In reading I think I need an image for model and tools to load the image on the drive. Looking forward to hearing from the group. Thanks in advance.
I guess even if we get the disk right there is still a possibility the power supply is not functioning as designed but we will cross that road when we get there.
I think I laughed more at this episode than the previous four combined. I don't know if I'll ever be able to see Jerry Bruckheimer's logo again without thinking to myself, "Driving action toward love through a storm until lightning hits a tree."
I have a Premier XL 2 tuner in my office. I rarely use it standalone, I mainly just have it to record analog only stations which I then stream to my Elite in the living room. However on occasion I do watch it directly. Anyway I was having a problem with the IR remote where sometimes it would not respond to commands. I thought it was the remote so I tried another one. Same thing. I then thought maybe it was being obstructed so I broke out my slide remote. However even with the Slide I'm having the same problem.
Any ideas what might cause this? There are no IR blasters, or anything else in the room, that would cause interference. Could this be an issue with the CableCARD or Tuning Adapter? Or maybe a power supply problem?
It's really annoying. Especially when I start FFing and then can't stop because it wont respond to the remote. So if there is any way to fix it I'd love to hear about it.
I have two TiVo HDs in my house with CableCards from Time Warner. About three months ago, they started turning to CNN by themselves. It's very random. It happens in the middle of the day and middle of the night, two times a day or once a week. If it happens while in the middle of recording, it continues to record. However, I've also come home to find recordings are half of what I set and half CNN. Once it turns to CNN, nothing works except rebooting. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
I'm considering getting a TiVo but one thing that stops me (aside from the cost of a TiVo and TiVo's monthly cost--yes...I know about lifetime) is that On Demand is not available and I watch a lot of On Demand programming. I currently I have Comcast (On Demand via TiVo is not offered in my area) and am considering switching to FiOS.
I know about Netflix and Amazon but I'm not looking to pay additional monthly subscriptions and I was wondering what other alternatives might be out there for On Demand that I'm not aware of. For example, do Showtime or HBO or other cable movie broadcasters have any sort of link through/to TiVo devices if one has a subscription to those channels via one's cable company (Comcast or FiOS)?
Also...I prefer to watch tv on my tv and not on my pc so I'm looking for tv-based alternatives...
If you're interested in either of these upcoming SyFy shows, which premiere on Saturday June 8, you will need to set your season passes to record new and repeats. Both of these shows suffer from the common UK/Canada original air date issue.
I don't know why it is that a show like Rookie Blue can appear as new on ABC, but shows on SyFy (and many on BBC America) always appear as repeats.
Just received an email with new bundles.
P4 & Mini $250
P4, Mini, & Stream $330
P4XL & Mini $400
P4XL, Mini & Stream $480
All require service with $100 off lifetime for existing lifetime customer
I'm interested in a P4XL + Mini which comes to $1,050 after adding lifetime to both units. Feels like the same value we've had the last few months - everyone agree?
Maybe I'm asking too much for a further discount but I'm going to hold off a bit longer. With a lifetime S2 and a lifetime S3 my needs are met now, would like like to eliminate that second cable outlet eventually.
I would like to connect a TiVo Premiere XL4 to a wireless network with a TiVo Wireless N Adapter. Is the XL4 and TiVo Wireless N Adapter compatible with a Netgear Wireless N Router, WNDR3400v2?
Wow no thread yet!
At first I thought this was the season finale and a real dumb way of ending it. But I see that the season finale is next Mon.
Not a real bad episode but one of the plot lines drives me crazy! Here is a small group of people that are controlling a resource (power for the whole world) and other people that want the resource (THE ENTIRE WORLD!) but the small group of people knows "what's best" for them and EVERYONE ELSE and deny the other people the resource. Quoting from the NBC episode recap: "Jenkins knows electricity will give weapons to the evil ones in the world." So instead without power ALL of the world governments have failed and now small communities are run by militias that are run by the likes of Monroe. And the various militias are fighting each other. And this is better than it was when the world had power??!! And to add hypocrisy this small group of people has plenty of power but are denying it to the rest of the world because the rest of the world is evil (but they are not!)!!!
Unfortunately this reflects the way things often happen in the real world but I still hate it both in the real world and in TV dramas!!
Other than the 2 additional cable tuners, and the loss of the ATSC tuners, are there any differences between the Tivo Premiere and the Tivo Premiere 4? Especially hardware wise?
I'm cutting the cord and plan on using Tivo for OTA HD. I'm hesitant to purchase new from Tivo as there are rumors of new hardware in the fall and trying to figure out what my options are to cheaply start using Tivo now with minimal commitment. I'm a little confused about the options as it pertains to the service plans and commitment.
It looks like I can try to find a used series 3 HD on ebay and then I can activate for $12.99 per month with no commitment. This may be the best option that I can tell.
I can buy a refurbished Premiere from Tivo for $99 but i need to commit to one year of service at $14.99/month. What's not clear to me is if I purchase a new Tivo within the 1st year, can I transfer my service and if so does the one year commitment reset?
I can buy a used Premiere on ebay. Do I need to commit to one year of service with this option? Same question as above in regards to transfering service to a new Tivo within the first year.
My "new" WD AV-GP 2t was makings some weird noises. When I took it out and ran HDDScan it came up with UltraDMA CRC Errors  with an exclamation point next to it. Anyone know whats going on with this drive? I'm selling the box and want to make sure everything is fine with it.
It's a Premier XL with Lifetime.
Anyone watching? I watched a bit of the beginning. I personally don't care to watch much beyond the scenery and any particularly dramatic moments.
Feel free to keep me up to date on any moments you think are worth watching like stuff in the previews
(e.g. fist fight, guy's girlfriend showing up)
