Static in menus on Roamio Pro?

Is anyone else getting occasional continuous static in the menus? The only way to stop it once it starts appears to be to switch to live TV or turn on the video window. It never seems to happen if the video window is on though so if you leave the preview window up you wouldn't see it except unless you were in settings. I have had it happen while creating wishlists, creating season passes, and when I selected another TiVo to browse.

I am directly connected to my TV via HDMI with no receiver and previously had a Roku hooked up without issue. I have tried both PCM and Dolby with the same results. It seems to happen instead of a sound effect and then doesn't quit until a video starts playing. I haven't read any reports of it so I am wondering if maybe there is a problem with my Roamio.

Issue Transfering shows between Roamio Pro and Series 3 boxes

I just got my Roamio Pro set up last night. Everything seems to be working fine, except I cannot transfer shows between my old Series 3 boxes and the new Roamio Pro. I can transfer shows between the old Series 3 boxes still.

From all three boxes, I am able to see the other two boxes at the bottom of the Now Playing list.

From the Series 3 box, if I try to select the Roamio, I get a message saying "The <Roamio box name> DVR has no recordings. Press LEFT to return to the Now Playing List." There are, of course, in fact recordings on the Roamio.

From the Roamio, if I try to select either Series 3 box, I get a message saying "The <Series 3 name> DVR's My Shows cannot be displayed because of a network problem. Press LEFT to return to the My Shows List."

From either Series 3 box, if I select the other Series 3 box, I am able to see the list of shows on that box and transfer them without problem.

All three boxes are on the same subnet (255.255.255.0). All three have IPs in the 192.168.1.x range. All are hardwired with ethernet to a gigabit switch.

The Roamio Pro and one Series 3 box are plugged into the same switch. The other Series 3 is in a different room, plugged into a different switch. (These two switches are connected together.) Again, I have no problems transferring shows between the two Series 3 boxes, so the switch config is not the issue. Furthermore, I cannot transfer shows between the Roamio and the Series 3 box that are on the same switch.

I have looked at the help on the Tivo site.

Multi-Room Viewing Troubleshooting is not much help. The first section talked about generic problems. All three boxes support MRV, all have an active Lifetime sub, all are set to allow transfers (though I will note that the setting is now called "Video Sharing"), all have a current software version higher than 9.1 (11.0k for the series 3, and 20.3.6 for the Roamio), all are on the same tivo account, all are on the same subnet, all have the same Media Access Key, and none have special characters in the name (unless a space is a special character, which all three boxes have, but it doesn't seem to hamper the two series 3's from transferring to each other). TivoToGo is a,a,a for all three boxes.

Multi-Room Advanced Help talks about additional help for Roamios with sufficient software version, but my box doesn't seem to be doing what it says.

"From TiVo Central > Settings & Messages > Help > Whole Home View… > Streaming Between TiVo Boxes > Multi-room Advanced help"

I go to the Help menu, and I don't see a "Whole Home View..." list, just "Whole Home". Selecting it allows me to select a "Streaming Between Tivo Boxes" item, but there is no "Multi-room Advanced help" option underneath it. It just shows some of the same debugging info as related above from the TiVo web site. Selecting "Transferring between TiVo boxes" (which is what I am actually trying to do) provides some generic debugging info, none of which is relevant to my problem.

In neither case have I been able to get it to generate the "Information displayed on the Multi-Room Advanced Help menu" information, which is supposed to list all the DVRs on the network, along with their various stream and transfer diagnostics.

So, I'm at a loss. Any suggestions before I try calling TiVo?

This is important to me because the Roamio is replacing one of the two Series 3 boxes, but I still have a bunch of shows on the old box I want to watch before I sell it or give it away. Unfortunately, because of my setup, it's not very convenient for me to keep them both actually connected to the TV full time, so I was planning to just keep the Series 3 connected to the network, and just transfer the shows over (either in bulk, or as I am watching them). I'd also prefer not to transfer them to the other series 3, since it's in a bedroom where I don't do a lot of comfortable TV watching.

What part of "fixed" does TiVo not get?

I've always set my TiVos to output a constant resolution, to avoid the flicker that accompanies a mode change. Currently, I have a Premiere set to use only 1080i, and a Roamio set exclusively to 1080p60 (on two different TVs). Yet, sometimes I still see the flicker, on both these units.

It only happens with some network-transferred videos, which cause the flicker just as I start them. The sad thing is that the before and after resolutions are the same -- the TiVo is technically obeying my settings, but still invoking an unnecessary mode change, to switch from one resolution to the same resolution.

Roamio Pro and Tivo Stream on same network?

Just got a roamio pro up and running last night. Downloading shows to my ipad mini worked flawlessly.

But i still have a Tivo XL4 in the bedroom that i would like to occasionally download shows to my iPad... i have a tivo stream i was using before the roamio pro... if i plug that back in and put on network, will i be able to stream/download shows from my XL4 to my ipad mini? And how will that affect streaming/downloading from Roamio Pro? Does the ipad tivo app just automatically know which device (roamio built-in, tivo stream for XL4) to use for streaming/downloading from each individual box?

Anybody had success with such a setup yet?

I had decided to transfer some of my video podcast subscriptions from my S3 to my Roamio. And by "transfer", I mean redo them on the new box. I noticed that the old "Web Videos" HME app doesn't seem to be available anywhere on the Roamio (?), but under Download Manager, it said to use Search.

So, I searched for "Tekzilla". It came up in the results, and it had a little "HD" logo on it. Great, I thought -- subscribe. But to my dismay, when I looked at the downloaded video, it was 480p. Meanwhile, my S3 is still downloading new episodes in 720p, so I know it's not that they're unavailable or that the feed changed.

There was only one search result for Tekzilla, and there was no option to select the resolution. Is there a way around this?

(The same thing happened with "HD Nation", which is why I said "TiVoCasts". But I quit trying after seeing those two.)

Will tivo ever stream media from a computer like Apple tv vs transfer?

I have Apple TV and TiVo and I love both for individual reasons, hbo go is nice on Apple TV, Spotify is nice on TiVo.
Apple TV is nice because it doesn't have internal storage and playing a video is dependent on wifi connection.
TiVo to play a file on desktop you need to transfer it first but once it's there can play without buffering but then it takes space on your TiVo hard drive.

Curious if Tivo will ever stream media from a computer like Apple tv vs transfer and take up space.

I notice a slight picture improvement with the Roamio over the S3, but maybe that is my imagination. The dell 50" is starting to act up and I am planning on replacing it. My question is can I go too big? I have a large room that I am considering a Panasonic plasma ST60 60-65". Will broadcast (comcast) HD quality suffer if I go 65"?

I need to add one minute to the end of every recording to make sure I get the whole show. This isn't a big problem for season passes but is a nuisance for manual recordings. I'd love to have an option to add time to every recording.

I was a very early TIVO adopter and own 2 series 1's and a series 2. I have been away from the TIVO family for a long time and have finally come home with a purchase of a Roamio plus :)

After many hours with Bright house networks and swapping tuning adapters and a cable cards, my roamio finally displays live TV mostly correctly. I still get pixilation quite a bit and occasionally when I change channels I hear my Onkyo TX-NR809 receiver click and get a black screen on some channels.

I haven't tried going directly from the TIVO to the TV because I'd like to retain surround sound.

I'm still relearning my TIVO so any help/tips on the pixilation issue or the black channels would be appreciated!

Elite vs Roamio

What are the benefits of the Roamio over the Elite? The obvious ones are the 2 extra tuners (which I don't think I need) and the ability to stream (which doesn't do me any good until it works out of the home - and even then would only be something I would use a couple times a year).

I am a tech junkie and fighting the "must have it now" feeling, but the more I hold off the less of an upgrade I see to it. The 4 tuner version is buggy as hell so I only hope I wouldn't have the same problems with 6 tuners.

Any help here? The wifi does me no good and while a faster UI and better Netflix app would be nice I'm not sure thats worth the $800 outlay. Especially since we still don't have Amazon.

The $800 with lifetime price tag has made me second guess this decision a couple dozen times so just looking for others views on it. Thanks!

SPORTS NIGHT (1998 TV Series) on Fox Soccer Channel

I noticed when doing a search on Sabrina Lloyd tonight that the Fox Soccer Channel (channel 619 on DirecTV) is airing Sports Night beginning Tuesday, September 3rd at noon CT. So far it looks like a couple of episides maybe at noon most weekdays and other sporadic showings.

Anyway, if you were one who saw it mentioned here and were looking to see it, here's an opportunity. Fox Soccer is an HD channel, but I have no idea how Sports Night will air.

I don't know if it's been broadcast lately because I haven't really been paying attention, but I was pleasantly surprised to see this in the program guide. :up:

Can't login to tivo.com on chrome browser

I can't seem to sign into my account on tivo.com using the Chrome browser. After entering my username/password, the "Sign in" button stays gray and is not clickable. Works fine in IE. Is this happening for anyone else?

I have a parts machine that looks like it may be resurrected. It currently has a bad HD. The unit boots to a green screen and reboots about 10 min later... to the same green screen. I will attempt to WinMFS the software from the bad drive to a new drive, but if it is too far gone, can I use WinMFS to copy a hard drive from a working S3? They're both thermometer 250B's.

I rushed home with my new Tivo Mini tonight, to connect to my new Roamio Plus. The installation went fine, with just the delay for downloading stuff (update, etc). Then after that 30 minute process, I get a message saying it can't connect to the Roamio. The reason would appear to be the following, as indicated on My Account on the Tivo site:

"We're still processing your activation. Try again in 24 hours."

Really? Unlike every other online purchase these days which is immediate, Tivo wants me to wait 24 hours to verify a $6 / month fee? Tell me no....

I am outside of business hours for Tivo and I missed the Chat service by 8 minutes. While I guess and hope I can work this out tomorrow it is a pretty frustrating experience to not be able to complete the setup - all for the sake of $6.

Why can't Tivo do Amazon Instant Video on the Premiere? I can do it on my computer, I can do it on my iPhone and iPad, but not on my Premiere. In this day and age, it seems silly.

So I was trying to log into my netflix account and I was getting really frustrated that I either forgot the password or kept typing it wrong. As it turns out I was just using the wrong email address (its on my wife's and not mine) as I hadn't had to log into Netflix in months and forgot. After a few missed attempts it prompted to make an account and now it is stuck there. My options are to read the terms of service or to enter my info and create an account for my email address. I can't back out using any button the remote. They all do nothing. I tried to leave the app and come back, but it returns to the same screen. I tried putting the Roamio in standby, but when I brought it back it returned to the same screen. I tried to unplug the box, wait a few minutes, and plug it back in. Nope, same screen. I am at a loss here. How do I log in now?

I am having a issue with the new Roamio Pro and the Western Digital MyBook DVR 1TB Expander. I have tried two different brand new TiVo Roamio Pro's; 4 Brand new WD Expanders, new eSata cables; and I connected the WD Expander to a premiere XL4; so I know the function properly. The Roamio tells me the WD DVR Expander is unsupported though, is Anyone Else Having this issue?

Trying to figure out the best settings for the display output. My tv is a 1080p 120mhz sharp. Fios outputs in 1080i. Which video outputs should I select for the Roamio? Right now all the formats are selected because when the test was run all the resolutions worked.
