Since NBC cancelled "Welcome to the Family" and doesn't have/want to burn up another sitcom right now, they're stunt-filling the entire 8 pm hour for the rest of the year.
Parks will be off for the next three Thursdays, then will air back-to-back eps at 8 and 8:30 on Nov. 14 and Nov. 21, then will be off again until January 9 (when it starts airing regularly at 8:30 after Community).
Leaving aside how I feel about paying around $1,000 for a TiVo plus lifetime service in order to be pestered by advertising (hint - not positive)...
We are seeing a "Cryptonite free trial" ad op up above the pause bar, Pressing "down" gets rid of it OK, but the damn' thing comes back every single time we pause, which is getting really, really old, because we generally pause so we can look at the picture, and the advert covers up a big chunk of it. I did the SPS-Pause trick (which I did not want to do, because I find the bar useful) but even then the ad flashes up annoyingly for about half a second when I pause.
I don't recall our old TiVo HD behaving like this (I vaguely recollect that once you dismissed an ad it was gone for good) - is this something new, or do I just remember wrong?
More to the point, is there some way to retain the bar but stop the excessively frequent pop-up ad (I don't mind seeing it once in a while, it's the excessive repetition/flashing that is infuriating).
As to the value of the advertising; right now I would happily punch someone from Cryptonite in the face, because it is so intrusive and annoying. The chances of me every wanting to buy something from them are zero.
After I figure out how to take .tivo files on the PC and use its DVD deck to burn them to DVD (playable in your average DVD player), I still need to know whether to use +R or -R and which version of which brand.
Discussions of this at places like avsforum seem at least a year old and that's plenty of time for those who put their brand name on blanks to change who makes them for them, so I'm seeking recently informed opinion.
Keep in mind that I really have no experience with DVD's, even commercially produced ones.
Don't have a player except the ones in PCs around here and never even sat down and watched one.
im curently in florida with tivo premiere and bright house networks (time warner cable company)
moving to ohio and getting time warner cable.
will the tivo check the channel names and convert my recordings or will i have to go one by one thru them and change the recording channel number?
any tips/tricks for moving and a change of channel lineup?
also.... are there any deals for lifetime? or deals with new tivo's+lifetime? my yearly 129 comes up in november and i've heard of people getting 100-200$ lifetime.. and some word with an R mentioned.. roameo? roamsomething..
would love any help/tips/tricks.
Tatiana Maslany from 'Orphan Black' seems to have a new character role on 'Parks & Recreation' this week...
This should help both shows, but certainly gain exposure for TM, hence better numbers for OB when it returns in the spring.....stoked
So, I'm thinking getting another monitor for the office and attach a Mini to it.
- I need HDMI
Is anybody doing this? What monitor did you get?
Also: I already have a secondary attached to my iMac and I'm wondering what the behavior would be when I attach another monitor w/ a Mini to the iMac?
A couple of things I'm finding interesting:
1. It doesn't appear that these "US" troops use any ranks. I haven't heard a reference to a rank at all.
2. I'm trying to imagine any scenario that would make diamonds a currency. What intrensic value do they have? You can't really do anything with them. At least gold/silver do have practical purposes.
3. Aaron is "Carrie"! FTW
It seems like nowadays to be a truly competitive streaming box you need to offer:
-Amazon Prime (ie streaming)
I know their are others, and I know that not everyone uses all of these, but these are the ones usually listed first when devices tout what they offer so...
What's your take on the likelihood that these come to the Roamio?
Kinda surprised there's no thread yet!
Anyway, that was fun. Some classic Sheldon and Howard showing that the new Batman game is probably more important than his marriage!!
I was hoping I'd like this one. I love stories from this era (1500s Europe).
Great locations, great production values, decent acting. The underlying music score, however, and persistent bass drum beating was just too much form me. Actually seems to drown out the dialog at times.
I skipped thru the program and could actually only find a few short segments without a music/drum track. Too much for me; way too distracting.
Terrible when you decide to stop watching 15 minutes into a new program. :(
We get free cable through our condo association. The whole building is on a "bulk account". When we moved in all we did was plug the coax cable into the back of the TiVo and run through the set up and bingo, TV! There was no need for a cable card.
We have a Series 3 TiVo and WOW is converting over to all digital. We received a letter about obtaining a couple of free converter boxes, which we have now, but I don't think we need them (because the TiVo 3 is compatible).
We decided to go through and redo the setup procedure and it say's that we need Cable Cards (we DO NOT have the digital adapter connected at this time).
So, can anyone explain exactly what we need to do in our to receive the digital signal, if anything?
Hello. i'm on series 3 / TCD663320
Im not sure this can be done - but my TODO list often gets shows not recording "This program was not recorded because it was no longfer in the program guide." (i get the same text if its a future show not going to record).
is there a way i can
a) KEEP my season pass things and
b) erase / delete / reboot my TODO list.
(Hopefully it will only show TV shows that are actually listed in the guide)
It will go to the same spot on the transfer and just stop transferring from my Tivo to my PC. It doesn't happen for every program but it has happened more than 5 times. Please help. Thanks
I will go to the same spot on the transfer and just stop transferring form my Tivo to my PC.
I found this phrase when setting up my TiVos basic settings recording quality. Are all broadcast signals considered 'digital channels' pertaining to this setting?
I only have OTA. (as does my sig' other) Does this mean that if a show is broadcast in HD then I can only record it at HD? I prefer to record everything but football in the lowest quality possible to save on hard drive space. I only have SD TVs as does my sig' other.
She is using a Series 3 now, but her hard drive is always filling up as is my Premiere. I am thinking our trouble is because the TiVo is filling up because the TiVo is recording everything at HD. I have both TiVos set up to record at the lowest quality in the settings menu.
We didn't have this trouble with our old Series 2 Tivos with the standard small hard drives that they came with.
Back when I had a PC, I used Directshowdump to convert .tivo files to mpeg files. Super easy, kept the same video quality.
Is there an equivalent simple converter file out there for the Mac? Preferably free of course as well ;) Thanks!
I've tried to access this site all week but it all I get is "this webpage can't be displayed" Is it down for everyone also says it's down.
I had a Tivo 4 (Premiere XL) with a bad HDMI port. I contacted Support and they have sent a replacement. I transferred all of my recorded shows to my Macintosh computer via Tivo Transfer (Roxio). I am now trying to transfer the shows back to the replacement DVR using Mac2Tivo.
Although the Tivo sees my computer it does not see any shows. I have read in the forums and online that the .tivo files need to be converted to mpeg2 files. Is this so? If so, any suggestions on applications to do this. I have tried several with no success. Also all of the files are HD.
Any help and suggestions would be appreciated!
I am a noob to the TiVo, and coming from the Sony DHG HD-DVR, I'm not impressed with TiVo's user interface. But, to get to the point, here is a scenario:
Roamio basic. Watching a recorded show. Pause it. Now hit the TiVo button to check something out. Now, how do you get back to the playback (easily)?
The only way I see is to go to MyShows, and re-select the show, and resume it. That is tacky. Isn't there some way to escape the TiVo Central menu back to your previous screen?
If I was in LiveTV and hit the TiVo button, I could escape by using the Guide button twice, and be back at LiveTV. But that doesn't work for returning to a playback, it always returns you to LiveTV.
