So I got a Roamio with 4 tuners.
I am with Comcast and got a M-card.
Took some time to figure it out but got it paired.
Now I can watch TV.

Now the problem:
The channels are all over the place. To get my local (ch 2) it's on 702.
I called TIVO and asked how to get channel 2 on channel 2.
Tivo rep said it can not be done.
If I want to watch channel 2 go to 702. Channel 7 is on 707 etc.

This doesn't sound right to me, does everyone have this problem?

I ask if anyone complained about this and he said never, I was the first.

I had Dish before and channel 2 was channel 2.

Anyone else experiencing the issue that Tivo can not activate Roamio's right now? I called last night to ask a few questions and decided to active a new Roamio while I was on the phone with them.
Paid for lifetime and then was told afterwards Tivo was having issues activating Roamio's and it should be resolved within 12 hrs and all should be good.

Well no activation this afternoon and called them again tonight and found no one could find my paperwork and that activation is having issues and it will be several days now before activation of Roamio's can take place!

Just frustrated!

Creating MOCA bridge connection Roamio Pro

TiVoCommunity Forum Recent Threads - Wed, 09/11/2013 - 19:13

I am going crazy here. Have two new Roamio Pro. I want to create a MOCA connection.

Pro number 1 is the one next to the router and Pro 2 will be in the living room far away from any ethernet connection.

Pro 1 is properly connected, coaxial and ethernet.

I select Network, Change network settings and Use this dvr to create a MOCA network. I select "yes, turn on MOCA" then I use the suggested settings. I select "get ip automatically (typical) and I get the message

"The DVR will begin using your new network settings".

When I select continue I see under "Network connections details"

Type: Ethernet connection

That is all i see. I tried this so many times. I replaced two XL elite and there was no problem with my MOCA connections. So the splitters and cables are not the problem.

I also remember that the type of connection it used to said when I bridge one of the elites was

Ethernet + Moca

Here I don't see that. Maybe is enable and the Roamios does not mention the + MOCA part anymore?

I used the other Roamio Pro with the same results. Called Tivo Tech support and we were on the phone for about two hours. No luck.

Was told to "clear and delete everything" but I am not sure i want to go that route. I am afraid it will un-pair my cable cards and will have another hard time pairing them again. Really hard time.

I will apreaciate any help regarding this matter. For those so you that have a Roamio Pro setup as a moca/bridge, can you please let me know if your pro mention ethernet + moca in the connection settings?

Thank you in advance for the help

It is channel 55 on FIOS and 10 on Cablevision (not all systems). Not sure what channel it is on with the other systems in the NYC Metro area.

Amazon HD File Playback Issues

TiVoCommunity Forum Recent Threads - Wed, 09/11/2013 - 17:13
I bought the Basic to record both OTA and get Amazon HD TV shows because of the excellent PQ.

Since starting this two weeks ago, I regularly see some pixellation at times with playback, granted its minor and not often throughout the show. The other problem is, out of about 15 shows watch, 2 have been corrupted and locked up part of the way through. This is not huge, because I just get on chat and Amazon will force a new download that ends up playing back fine.

Im not sure if this has been common, or is just a Roamio bug. Resolution has nothing to do with it, because itll happen at the same point every time regardless of settings, and since a new fine will play fine, it leads me to believe its a tivo issue either when it writes it to the drive, or when it plays it back.

Just wondering if anyone is seeing this, or if its been a problem on other models?

HOw long does it take to remove an external hard drive?

Does anyone remember how long it takes for GC and Indexing to complete?

TiVoCommunity Forum Recent Threads - Wed, 09/11/2013 - 15:53
I have an S3 OLED which I was just able to recover from a GSOD loop situation.

My shows were all there and it connected and fully downloaded the guide data.

However it doesn't show any shows as recording in the todo list and when I view upcoming episodes, nothing shows up.

I think this is due to tivo still running GC and Indexing on the large 2 week set of data it downloaded, but I am not sure. Possibly something I did to resolve the GSOD loop messed things up.

I always thought it did the GC/Indexing as the last step of the connect to the mothership (ie "Loading"), but the System Information page says

Guide View Cache:
Cache To: Thurdsay December 31 4:00 pm
Status: Running, since...
Wednesday September 11 12:05 pm

My other S3 OLED says "Idle, since..."

It is a little disconcerting right now because nothing shows up as recording in the todo list and nothing shows up under view upcoming episodes, even though there is guide data for 13 days. While I think this is all because the GC/Indexing isn't done yet, I'm not sure if that is just a red-herring and I messed something else up. Also even if just takes a while, I'm not sure if it'll get done before 8pm primetime hits and it needs to record stuff.

I've read about other units having trouble with indexing guide data forcing their owners to manually force the indexing. Hopefully that isn't the situation here.

Mini always on = tuner always in use?

TiVoCommunity Forum Recent Threads - Wed, 09/11/2013 - 12:46
I have a Roamio Pro and no Mini yet. I know the Mini has DTA now to release the tuner when not in use.

So if on the Mini, I turn on my TV and tell it to tune to live tv and a particular channel, then I shut my TV off, but do NOT put the Mini in Standby (since I don't believe there is an off?), what happens?

1) Will the Roamio tuner continue to be on live tv and tuned to the channel I previously set (so when I power the TV back on live TV will be playing)?

2) Will it somehow realize I am no longer watching TV and it releases the tuner (bringing me back to the start / Tivo Central page)?

3) Other?

How to stop playback and delete show?

TiVoCommunity Forum Recent Threads - Wed, 09/11/2013 - 12:24
How do I delete the recorded show I am watching?

On my FiOS DVR this is easy, play stop delete.
On Roamio this is difficult, play tivo recordings find what I was watching delete.

Surely there must be an easier way?

Cablevision Long Island NDS V58 errors

TiVoCommunity Forum Recent Threads - Wed, 09/11/2013 - 11:56
I have a Roamio Pro and am a Cablevision subscriber on Long Island.
They seem to only support NDS cards.

I sporadically/periodically/randomly/often receive V58 errors when changing channels. And I'll often go to watch a recorded show only to find a black screen.

What is wrong? What can I do?

I can change the channel a few times and the it will eventually come back.

YouTube Ap

TiVoCommunity Forum Recent Threads - Wed, 09/11/2013 - 11:18
I really enjoy the new YouTube ap on my new Roamio.
But, when a video is playing, I can only FF and RW in 10 second increments, with each time I hit the button. I see what looks like on-screen controls when I'm doing this, but can't select them.

Anyone else having this problem?

I'm not a Showtime sub, so I was wondering, outside of torrents, if the older seasons are streaming anywhere? I was hoping Netflix, but unfortunately no. I know Netflix has other Showtime series available for streaming (US of Tara and Weeds are ones I've watched), but not this one. FWIW, I'm an Amazon Prime member too.

Toyota Drops Entune App Platform Subscription Fees

Zatz Not Funny! - Wed, 09/11/2013 - 07:28

Toyota’s Entune is another mediocre product I never found the motivation to review. Available in a variety of vehicles the last few years, Entune rounds out Toyota’s Navigation and Bluetooth capabilities with a few apps… that receive their data via your cellphone’s connection. It’s not that it’s horrible, but the experience is quite limited compared […]

TiVo Debuts Network PVR - Extends Roamio Experience to the Cloud

TiVoCommunity Forum Recent Threads - Wed, 09/11/2013 - 05:26

Bringing TiVo(R) Roamio DVR Experience to the Cloud; Network Recordings Seamlessly Integrated, Easily Searchable via the Brilliant TiVo User Interface; Cloud-Based Management, Lower CAPEX and Control a Key Next Step in the IP Transition for Operators

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS--(Marketwired - Sep 11, 2013) - TiVo Inc. (NASDAQ: TIVO), a global leader in the advanced television entertainment market, today announced that it would debut a prototype of its next generation cloud television offering, which includes new TiVo® features delivered with a Network PVR, during the International Broadcasting Conference 2013 (IBC) in Amsterdam.

The TiVo Network PVR will use TiVo's Emmy Award winning cloud service and is a natural extension of the TiVo solution. This is an important next step for operators as they consider a transition to IP delivered content and utilization of low-cost IP clients and consumer provided devices (tablets, smartphones, etc) with an eye toward enhancing the user experience inside and outside of the home, which is becoming a critical component in the increasingly competitive video market. TiVo's Network PVR extends the TiVo Service and consistent user experience while enabling consumers to easily find, consume and socially share cloud delivered content through the TiVo user interface.

In addition to moving the Roamio experience to the cloud, TiVo would be enabling operators and programmers to manage complex content rights, create multiple tiers of network PVR features, and enable multiscreen policies that accelerate the critical transition to an all IP video world. For instance, operators deploying TiVo network PVR could offer a premium nPVR service with expanded catch-up and save options. The service would also empower programmers to more intelligently target advertising in cloud hosted time-shifted content.

Additionally, TiVo plans to enable new consumer features that enable co-viewing experiences through social networks and recommendations across disparate libraries of content. For example, TiVo's nPVR service would allow a viewer to share a recorded program with an authorized user who missed the show with a few simple clicks of the remote control.

Joshua Danovitz, Vice President, Innovation at TiVo, said, "Operators are becoming more and more focused on the reducing capital expenditure while enhancing subscriber satisfaction across every screen inside and outside the home. TiVo's Network PVR could play an important role in this process as it would bring an experience, which has proven to improve customer satisfaction and operating metrics for global operators, fully to the cloud. This demonstration is a testament to TiVo's commitment to innovations that improve the consumer's ability to access all the content they want, whenever they want it. The natural evolution of the TiVo Service to address network storage is one of the cornerstones of an overall TiVo strategy to deliver an experience that delights the consumer on every screen while driving down pay TV operator costs."

IBC 2013 runs from September 12-17 in Amsterdam. TiVo's booth is located at Stand Number 14.531 / Hall Number 14.
