It seems Tivo Updated the IOS app to work out of home but only if you have a Roamio Plus or Pro. An article claims only when on a wifi network for now.
No word on the if the stand alone stream will get OOH.
As you can see above, TiVo has flipped the switch on remote access — allowing Roamio Pro and Plus units to stream both live and recorded content or download recordings for offline viewing. Of course, this functionality is only available to iPad and iPhone owners with Android support expected in 2014 (with no word on [...]
The post TiVo Roamio Remote Viewing Has Arrived! appeared first on Zatz Not Funny!.
While I realized that the IPAD app could stream from my TIVO Roamio, I had assumed it worked like a slingbox: I would stream whatever was viewing on my TIVO. However, tonight I discovered that what I am streaming on my IPAD is not the same show as what is on my TIVO. Basically, this means that my fiance and I can watch two shows off of the TIVO (or live!) at once. Or I can watch two live NFL games at once on Sunday (one on the TIVO and one my IPAD). Maybe others already knew about this feature, but that's pretty sweet!
I have a TiVo HD DVR TCD658000 which was working fine awhile ago; now, though, it no longer generates video output.
When I power up the unit, the green power light comes on and the hard drive/drive fan starts. However, no video output is generated; the attached TV screen is black. There's no post/startup at all - just a black screen.
Also, when I push the format button on the front of the unit, no format indicating lights light up; finally, when I use the TiVO remote, none of the lights flash on the front screen.
I'd like to know what might be wrong with my TiVO and whether or not it's worthwhile fixing. The TiVO has a lifetime subscription.
In case it matters, I used to have a hard drive expander attached to this unit - currently no hard drive expander is attached. I'm pretty sure that this isn't related but I thought I'd mention it.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Just a quick note...
CNN is playing Blackfish on Thursday, October 24th at 9 Eastern, but I also see it at 6PM Pacific. There is an Anderson Cooper 30 min special following, but does not seem to be in the guide yet!
Alluded to since launch, the Slingbox 500 ($300) has expanded its HDMI-output capabilities by introducing what we hope is the first of many apps. While historically Sling’s core competency has been beaming our home content outwards, this notable reversal pipes Internet content into the home… by way of Blockbuster On Demand. Blockbuster’s streaming service is equivalent to [...]

Can anyone help me set up my TIVO series 2 to work with my Bell ExpressVU satellite receiver and Slingbox. Where is the IR located on the TIVO? Is there a diagram that shows all cable/rca/ir/slingbox connections to the TV
Have Tivo HD with a 500gig My DVR Expander. I tell you I am not impressed with the quality of this thing. WD does not make quality.
Anyways, after a couple years of service (noisy service) the thing will not turn on now. Tivo itself is fine, but if I can't use the Expander I lose all the shows waiting for me when I reformat Tivo.
Anyone know why the Expander won't power up? Any fixes?
When I tune to a new channel via my Mini, it tunes but takes several seconds. Right now I've got a 10/100 switch handling wired Ethernet tasks. If I implement a gigabit switch will that speed up the Mini?
When I pause a program on my Mini, it pauses but a screensaver never appears regardless of how long it sits. How can I enable a screensaver to come on when a program is paused for "X" minutes, or there's no remote control activity for "X" minutes? This was an integrated feature of the DirecTV HR22. Is this an integrated feature on the Roamio? I haven't viewed programming from the Roamio yet...
Can I use this remote with the Roamio, right now I have 2 premiere's side by side and use one remote to control both. I'm thinking of replacing one of the premiere's with a Roamio. I am OTA only.
The Roamio's IR sensitivity can be returned to the level we experienced with the Premiere & prior models by adding the TiVo IR Adapter option. Since I already had both a Tuning Adapter and a Slide Remote, I also had to add a USB Hub from TiVo's approved list (use the Premiere list).
With the Adapter simply attached with the velcro provided to the top cover at the front right the results are excellent, and my universal remote can now be pointed well away from the TiVo and still communicate. It's a shame we have to pay extra for what should be standard.
Tara is really working the long con. I had suspected the pregnancy results were faked.
Adienne Barbeau!! It's been a long time since Swamp Thing.
the nih outbreak story was new to me. i also found the comments on why drug companies are reluctant to develop new antibiotics revealing.
unlike cholesterol or cancer drugs which will work the same 30 years from now as they do today, antibiotics are prescribed for brief use, become less effective with each use, and doctors prescribe them sparingly to prolong their life until eventual obsolescence.
this makes antibiotics less profitable than other drugs, a much lower return on a pharmaceutical company's investment, creating less incentive for new research and development. a scary thought with several new "super bugs" that resist all current treatments also documented in the report.
is this an example of a free market failure? should government attempt to prompt research and development of new antibiotics?
Wheres TIVO Stream support for ANDROID. STREAM is older than dirt compared to AEREO and their long delayed ANDROID APP is now out. When are we getting ANDROID support for TIVO Stream. I'll get a STREAM, I want a STREAM yet alias until there is ANDROID support I'm not dropping that dime.
I'm having problems viewing over-the-air channels on my new base model Roamio. When I try to view a channel using live TV, I sometimes get a blank screen and a V53 error. I live close to Boston, all of the channels have transmitters a few miles away and I have no trouble tuning them in directly using my TV. The odd thing is that when I look at the channel's signal strength bar graph, the strength always starts out low and increases until the channel is received. I can then exit and now watch live tv.
Obviously this is an impractical way to change stations, and I'm puzzled as to the cause. I though one tuner might not be working well, so I have tried simultaneously recording on 4 different channels to see if one didn't succeed, but in a couple of trials all 4 were recorded okay.
I'm thinking of just returning the DVR, but before I do that I wondered if there's anything else I should do to understand and possibly workaround the problem.
I've been having the following issue and it's annoying. I am hoping someone here can give me some insight to a fix.
My TiVo Mini is connected to my 32" Philips TV via the HDMI cable that came with the Mini.
Recently, whenever I turn on the TV, there is no sound. The only fix is to turn off the TV and turn it back on again, OR hit the input button until I get back to the HDMI1 input. The sound then comes back on.
Any ideas as to what's wrong? Thanks.
I have a brand new Roamio, and a brand new internal HD.
Should I swap in the new HD before I even power up the device?
Or run through the whole set-up on the existing default drive first before replacing it?
Not sure if it mattered, if there was any value to going through a full power cycle with the new unit, or even if there was benefit to starting fresh with the intended larger drive from the first power-up.
Cyber Monday is only a few weeks away. Any thoughts/guesses/inside knowledge on what (if any) deals TiVo will offer on the Roamios?
