I have 4 TiVo mini's in my house.
On occasion, I have the following issues with one or the other, so its not isolated to one bad Mini unit.
1 - No sound at all - need to standby and turn off TV - then turn all on again and it works - happens 2-3x month. Might be an HDMI issue
2 - Turn the TV on and Mini out of standby = blank screen, I then unplug the Mini and it reboots and everything is good - this tends to happen if I haven't turned on that Mini for several days
Now I am not sure if all of this is tied to some sort of combination of using switches (blank screen requiring reboot) on all units (green) and/or HDMI (sound loss issue).
Any feedback or others experiencing these issues?
Except for the top-right corner which shows the channel on the active tuner. If I go to the guide and then hit the TiVo button I can get to the main menu. Anybody else ever experience this behavior? If so, how did you fix it?
With the announcement yesterday on all news networks about Tivo getting out of the hardware business, will they continue to honor "Lifetime" ownership. My contract ends in March, and I'm concerned if Tivo pulls out from the DVR line will they continue to work with us as a whole? It sounds like they want to concentrate on the Cloud movement with the cable companies. Any input on this is appreciated.
Justified this season: Mary Steenburgen has signed in a recurring role on the FX drama as Katherine Hale, an attractive southern belle who was married to Wynn Duffys (Jere Burns) mentor in crime
Note that she wasn't married to Duffy
. They like hinting that Duffy is teh ghey.
So because the Tivo clock cuts off shows, I've been routinely adding a minute at the end of each season pass.
But my recordings have this stutter about a minute in (though the indicator bar shows 0 min). The video breaks up and the audio mutes or stutters during this time, which lasts a second at the most.
Could it be the ending of other recordings being reflected in the new recording?
Anyone else padding their recordings and having overlapping recordings?
Like if you record shows that air one after the other?
I live just outside Boston, have FiOS, and will very likely be getting a Roamio Pro pretty soon.
I've been reading CableCARD-related threads here and see that it's important to make sure to get a 514517-017-00 card from FiOS.
Is that pretty much all FiOS around here is giving out these days, or should I expect to have to bug the store to grab the right one?
Also, any recommendations on which FiOS store(s) to go to? Are some better than others or does it not really matter?
I am a new TiVo customer and I have a few questions and was wondering if anyone can answer it? Thanks for your help in advance. I currently have two Series4 TiVo Premiere boxes, Tivo XL Premiere Model: TCD748000 (activated) and Tivo Premiere Model: TCD746320 (not activated). I want to stream shows from the activated box to the not activated box.
1. Can I stream recorded shows without activating the box?
2. Can I stream recorded shows with activating the box but not renting a cablecard?
3. Can I stream live TV without activating the box?
4. Can I stream live TV with activating the box but not renting a cablecard?
I really just need one DVR but I want to view it in other rooms. My other way is getting at TiVo Mini. Any other ideas would be helpful.
Anyone watching this? It's a "magic prank" show. Kind of funny. I went to high school with the guy.
So I have a Roamio Pro, Roamio Basic and two Minis. Three connected via Ethernet, one connected via Ethernet through a MoCA adapter. None are using wireless for anything. Here's the weird thing, in my FiOS router logs, I have five Tivo listings - all with different MAC addresses. Anybody have a clue what that's all about? Have to admit I'm a bit stumped. Thanks.

Started using TiVo about a year ago... and love it... most of it anyway.
Have a TiVo XL4, although I don't think it matters what model I have, there's a problem with the time.
It seems to depend on the channel, but regardless of what channel, the time is off. If I'm watching Fox News, it starts the recording about 10 to 15 seconds early, so you see the end of the last show... which of course is not a problem. However, it clips the show at the end and we miss the last 10 to 15 seconds.
More noticeably though we've been taping old shows of King of Queens and it starts taping about 55 seconds before it should... and subsequently it clips the last 55 seconds of the show. (Yes, yes... I know I can add a minute.)
I guess I want to know... who's fault is this... Comcast? Individual channels? TiVo? (I don't think).
Is there any solution to having my unit better adjust to the actual time the programs come on and off?
All of our shows get clipped... it's just a matter of 10 seconds or 55 seconds. I guess I could just add a whole minute to EVERY recording... then again a lot of stuff will start overlapping and cutting off the beginning of every show.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
I haven't seen this thread, but my apologies if it's already out there.
I have a Premier XL 4. I want to record the same show, but on different channels. In other words...
Castle is on Monday nights on ABC, current season. Older episodes are on TNT. I set up a season pass for the shows on ABC; when I look at the upcoming eps to record, it only shows the next two weeks' worth on ABC. However, I can't figure out how to ALSO get the recordings on the TNT channel. When I try to make a season pass on that channel, it asks if I want to modify the season pass; if I go in to try to modify, it only shows the ABC ones. I've also tried selecting ALL SHOWS (and all variations, too... new and repeats, etc.), but it's still only pulling from ABC -- it's not recognizing the TNT listings. Is there a way to get the season pass without specifying a channel?
I had an HD Tivo (Series 3) before upgrading to this one a few weeks ago, and I know I did it on that one, though I don't remember how.
Can anyone help? What's the trick/what am I doing wrong?
Why is my Tivo Mini showing Two Pandora icons, both old Pandora and New Pandora under Music?
PS. Yes I rebooted the mini and it is still there.
Anyone else have missing guide data on Friday (January 24, 2014) and Saturday nights? Also, again missing guide data on Wednesday, the 29th.
I live in the L.A. area & have extended Time Warner cable at my house. I was excited about getting the Roamio plus so I could dl a bunch of shows to my iPad. Unfortunately, I keep running into the dreaded "restricted by copyright holder" message. The message seems to be more channel oriented than content oriented though. For instance, I can dl brand new Modern Family's from CBS & older ones from KTTV, but not from USA HD. So, I was thinking that we could join together and make a list of L.A. area stations that allow you to dl. So far, I've had good luck with:
and others, but I haven't started a comprehensive list yet. Let me know what works & doesn't and I'll put it all together in a new thread. Also, I don't know if the restrictions are the same for Direct TV, FIOS, or other cable systems, so please list your provider.
Although my problem is cleared up now, I thought I'd post this in case anyone else experiences this problem. The fix turned out to be fairly easy, but the overall experience was annoying.
I was watching TV this afternoon and switched to a channel but it was blank and no sound. Tried other channels, and some more but not all of them were blank and no sound or some of them stated I was not authorized to get that channel (which I was supposed to be). These are channels I have in my package and regularly watch.
Nothing had changed, been unplugged, reset since I was watching TV at the time this happened, nor has anything odd happened in the very recent.
I called Tivo and they had me do a variety of things, including rebooting, reloading channel line up, and she checked several of the cable card screens only to say they looked good. She suggested I contact Time Warner Austin.
One other odd thing I noticed before I called TWC. My low channels (local) were all HD now, but I still had my high number (local) channels that I could also tune to. I checked the info and whereas the low local channels used to always be 480i they were now 1080i. Very strange. They definitly were in HD too, it was easy to see the difference.
I called the TWC cable card hotline and explained all of this to the guy. First thing he had me do was unplug the tuning adapter for 15 seconds and replug it back in. After a few minutes when the light went solid again (as it was before I did this), I got all of my channels back and all of my low local channels were back to 480i.
So I don't know what happened, but apparently my Tuning Adapter 'belched' or something without being obvious about it.
If there is another thread that already explains this then my search tactics need improvement because I didn't find it, so I thought I'd post it in case this helps someone else out.
