-Premiere XL with lifetime
-Premiere basic with lifetime (I think 320GB?)
I also have the following accessories
-TiVo slide remote (I never really had much luck getting the bluetooth to work, I don't think its broken, jsut think its more user error)
-WD My DVR 1TB expander (not sure if I'll hold onto this or not)
I do not have the boxes or manuals. Just the units and remotes.
Is my best bet eBay? And should I sell the accesories seperatly or combine then with the XL?
I'm looking to upgrade to:
-Roamio Plus with Lifetime
-TiVo Mini with Lifetime
-at somepoint I'll upgrade the plus with a 3TB drive
Would be nice to take a big bite out of the upgrade expense.
Now that you can just drop in a new drive, too bad TiVo didn't have options for consumers to buy units without hard drives.
I've upgraded dozens of tivo boxes in the past and not once have I ever had to use the old drive that I pulled out. It just sat on a shelf and then was evently discarded. Waste of money.
I've transferred all my recordings from my Series 3 Tivo to my new Roamio. Everything went smoothly except for three files. When I select them from the Roamio on the S3 to transfer, I get this error message:
There was an error
Your request could not be processed. Please try again. (Message #86).
The lower right hand part of the screen has the word "BUSY" in small print. After that, there's a screen that suggests the S3 may be offline. I know that's not the case because I can transfer other files with no problem. I was able to transfer these three files to my PC with kmttg, so they are accessible.
Does anyone have any idea what this message might mean?
Tivo has acknowledged that certain Premieres attached to tuning adapters fail to record suggestions. Tivo Margret mentioned a fix was planned for the upcoming fall update.
Do we have any data on whether this failure mode is still present on the Roamio platform?
It's possible that only those end users who experienced the failure with a Premiere and have now upgraded to a Roamio will have an answer.
Currently have a cisco box from time warner cable, looking to replace it with a htpc with a cable card tuner or a tivo roamio plus.
What do you guys think?
The positive for the htpc is no longer have to pay monthly for a box, and i can replace the harddrives whenever i want.
The negatives are problely stability/reliability.
What do you think of the tivo compared to the time warner box's / htpc?
How often does tivo do software updates, gui changes, and how is the stability/reliability?
Also can you save or transfer your tivo recordings to a NAS?
Just tired of the sluggish / loud TW box's, not sure how much better a tivo is?
I just purchased a Roamio Pro, Roamio Basic, and a mini.
Will I be able to stream content to my iPad from the Basic or only from the Roamio Pro? I am not sure if the Roamio Pro stream capabilities cover the whole house or just the one unit.
Is anyone else torn like I am??? :(
I really really want the 6 tuners, but also might need the antenna ability in the future.
So I am stuck trying to make a decision.
I'm moving up to a Roamio from a HDXL. With my old TiVo, in order to wishlist record my NFL team in HD when available and SD when not, I had to use the method described here: http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...d.php?t=419994
If you want to record from the HD channel when a HD version of a program is available, and record the SD channel when no HD version is available (or flagged as HD), then create two identical wishlists, with the only difference being the category of HD. Give the wishlist with the HD category a higher priority in Season Pass Manager.
Is this still an issue with the Roamio (or even the Series 4 boxes)? All the threads I found regarding this were in pretty old threads, and I didn't see it in the FAQ page for the Premiere units: http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...d.php?t=419994
Warning to everyone that The League season premiere (9/4) is on FXX.
Supposedly this channel will be available to me starting on 9/2, talk about cutting it close!
My old Replay Brand DVRs allowed me to tell it to record a movie that might still be in the theater but when it eventually hit cable a year or two later, it would record. With TiVo I get the message that nothing shows up in the next 14 days. Can I tell it to keep looking forever until it does show up?

Here's an interesting thought that popped into my head after reading the above quote in a different thread. I didn't want to hijack that thread, so I'm creating a new one.
Has anyone tried using those 5 or 6 tuner codes on the base Roamio to see if by chance it's using the same tuner as the Plus/Pro models, and the only limiting factor is the SW/FW? I repair TVs on the side and notice on many an occasion that TV manufacturers use the same motherboards, power supplies, daughter boards, etc. to save manufacturing costs, and then just dumb it down in the SW/FW they flash to it ( as well as just leaving a daughter card or two out of the chassis).
I got a new Roamio to replace my TivoHD last week. I moved over the cable card and re-paired it via a call to Comcast. None of the channels(Other than Ion and Home Shopping) seemed to come up so I called Comcast again. They recommended I get a new cable card.
I went and they actually gave me 2 in case one was bad. Both of those were the same result. I can see Ion and the home shopping network, but no other channels.
The installer is here now. He can't seem to get it to work. He's saying it might be because they don't have Roamio in their system yet, although he's tried multiple other things.
Does anyone have any other thoughts? I only have "Limited Basic", so I'm only supposed to get like 17 channels. Unfortunately, I only get 2 :/
I read in the Mini specs that you cannot use the TiVo app to change channels on the Mini.
I'll describe my situation and hopefully someone will have a solution.
Currently, I have a TV in the master bedroom hooked up to a Premiere unit. The HDMI cable comes out of the back of the Premiere and goes into a 1x2 HDMI amplifier splitter
. Two HDMI cables come out of the splitter, one to the master bedroom TV and the other goes up through the wall, into the attic, and down into the master bath, where it connects to another TV.
We use the TiVo app on an old iPod Touch kept in the master bathroom to change channels on the Premiere. There is no line-of-sight from the master bathroom to the Premiere in the master bedroom.
I am considering replacing the Premiere unit in the bedroom with a Mini. (I have a Premiere XL4 in the family room, which I am considering upgrading to the Roamio Pro)
How can (should) I change the channel on the possible future master bedroom Mini from the master bathroom?
Just curious, if I have a wishlist and a season pass and the same show applies to the search, which recording settings will it honor (e.g. let's say wishlist has a setting to record 1 hour longer etc.)?
I recently sold two on eBay, using UPS to deliver -- before checking UPS rates.
Both TiVos were in original TiVo packaging. To ship + insure + "require signature" on a Premier was $26 (to go 300 miles north, in-state) and a S3 was $38 (to from the east coast to Colorado).
Was curious what folks were using as their preferred shipper for their sold TiVos.
I have two old boxes with lifetime that I no longer own listed in my account info page. How can I get rid of these?
Well, the wait is finally over, Netflix showed up on my Mini Saturday afternoon, I love it! The Netflix for kids is a great addition, I know this feature isn't exactly new, but new to Tivo owners.
The app launches fast ,and is much more usable than on the Premiere, now I cant wait until my Roamio gets here, good bye premiere units!
I've been using my current cablecard quite successfully for the last 4 years. First on my Series 3 as a single channel device and then moved it to Premier as a 4 channel.
I've got a Romanio Pro coming tomorrow. Do I need to go pickup a newer card to take advantage of the 6 channel recording ?
I've looked around and can't really find a definate answer to this.
Will the IOS streaming capability in the Roamio also enable streaming for my Premier box too or do I also need to buy a separate streaming box to enable that?
