Okay so I've got the adapter all set up and it works to get the MoCA signal into my bedroom through the coax wall plate already in there. Unless I put a cable splitter between the wall and the TiVo.
wall ------ TiVo
This doesn't work:
----- tuning adapter
wall ----- splitter
Yesterday I noticed the splitter I've had (that Cox gave me a year ago and said was a "good" one so I just assumed it was) was only up to 1002 mhz. So today I went and bought a new one (I would link what I got but I don't have a high enough post count to post links, but you can find it on walmart.com it is the GE Digital 2-Way Splitter Model #37623) that is up to 2.5ghz (from 5mhz). That should work with MoCA, right?
Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Is there some specific type of splitter I need to get? Stupid tuning adapter ruining my life.
Is it just my Tivo or is there some reason I can't create a Season Pass for this new program?
As soon as they spent 5 minutes on the father and son, I knew who the son would end up being (since they've been so slow to reveal who he is). Does anyone think the father is still alive? I can't think of anyone we've met that would be him... of course he might get killed next episode. :)
The "Groundhog Day" sequences were funny, but it's sad how fast Regina got bored with it. 3-4 days, tops? How did she function for 20+ years? And since they established that it was a "Groundhog Day" phenomenon, how did Henry not notice that every day repeated, that no one aged but him, ad nauseum?? I hope that gets explained.
I was seriously LOLing at the porch "kill me now" conversation. Two people who are soooo unhappy right now. :) Complete with a heart yank and replacement, and almost a "get off my lawn"! :)
We've seen how many red glowy "hearts" so far, and any dark spots? How did Cora's heart have any red at all? :) Boohiss on cheap add-on effects.
Good to see the Sheriff back, though the walkie-talkie heart was ridiculous!
As usual, I'm trying to decide how the season will end, since we have about 6 eps left. They might kill off Neal, or have him leave with the fiance. I know we have Belle stories left, so she will probably get her memory back. We saw a previously-seen character in the next week preview, so that character will be important to getting to season end, probably related to the fiance, maybe Belle. My guess for the "season finale big deal" is that magic will be extended past Storybrooke, maybe including a bigger city, courtesy of Regina.
Very much looking forward to this tonight. Carlton Cuse from Lost and a producer from Friday Night Lights are behind it.
I love Vera Farmiga in anything, (she plays Mother) so I cannot wait to see how she turns her son into a psycho.
From what I have read, this takes place in the present day, not during the time the movie was based in.
Keeps switching in and out of 1080p24hz, with accompanying black screen? I have two internet providers, 6 meg and 20 meg, and it does it with both. Constantly. I've changed to the Google DNS settings, nothing seems to work. No problem with Netflix HD content that's not 1080p24hz, and I have multiple AppleTVs and Blu Ray players that display Netflix, and everything else, just fine-- again, though, no 1080p24hz. I know I could just turn it off, but it looks so good. Same problem using both Yamaha and Onkyo receivers (with scaling turned off, I believe), but all of the TVs are Sharps, if that matters (The Sharps definitely display 1080p24hz, they even display native PAL without a converter, fyi). I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks

"Phil, we quit"
"I'm sorry to tell you that you've been eliminated from the race."
Seemed kind of an odd way to accept their decision of quitting. Even more so when the rednecks got to the mat last and found out that they weren't eliminated.
Just a thought. Originally Comcast cable cards installed in a TiVo was only one way. Now, somehow, the TiVo premiere is able to send a request to select an Xfinity VOD program. Is this request sent via the coax or might it be going through the Ethernet/Internet connection? Could this thing with the GSM errors be the result of a bad or corrupt message being sent to Xfinity VOD via the Internet? Is it possible that the problem is not on the cable tv side but on the Internet side? Does anyone know if Comcast made some Internet modification recently?
I have a new XL4 and I wanted to check out what the signal strengths are- not that there is any problem, I just wanted to see if the strengths were good or marginal. I went to the settings/channel menu and when I select channel signal strength I get a message saying that I can't get signal strength because I don't have any digital channels. Of course ALL my channels are digital.
I don't have this problem on my two tuner Premiere.
Is this some kind of bug?
I encountered this error when trying to swap a 2TB for a 1TB HDD in a "HD model 652":
backup: segfault at c ip 0804DC82 sp bfb29508 error 4 in backup[8048000+ c001]
restore failed: -:success
I'm using MFS V1.4 The drive being imaged is a 2TB taken out of a model 652 (HD). The destination HDD is a 1TB HDD which was never installed. Ythe 2TB will go in another 652 later.
I have done this before (successfully) with the same boot CD. From what I have read on this, it seems it's something that happens inside the O/S, not from a boot CD. Does the source or the destination drive have anything to do with this? Is a 2TB drive a problem here?
I have my 2-year old Premiere on a UPS, but a power surge fried the cable card and the Tivo is stuck on an endless loop ("Powering up..." screen, then reboots).
Tivo support said the hard drive was toast.
I popped the original HD back in, and after getting a replacement cable card, it is up and running again.
1) Should I just go through Western Digital and get a replacement hard drive since it's still (amazingly) under warranty (based on the serial number)?
2) What are the chances that I could "revive" the old 2TB hard drive to get any shows off of it, or even clone it to the new hard drive once it arrives?
3) If #2, then best options to accomplish that? Hook hard drive up to PC and run diagnostics on it? Spinrite? Others?
P.S. I can't think of anything absolutely essential on the hard drive that I need, so I might save myself the hassle and just put the new drive in. Just want to know my options
Friday Night Lights? That would be interesting. Movie--> TV Show --> Movie
Dead Like Me? Oh wait they got one it sucked.
Pushing Daises? Is there enough of a fan following?
After a week, this thing kicks ass. It has been great so far during hockey season as we can record our primetime shows with buffers and still watch the hockey game. Speed is dead on to what my 2 tuner was which I had no issues with the HDUI. The moca bridge has been great also as I was able to get rid of a moca adaptor
This weekends Engadget Expand panel discussion, moderated by @rjcc, with Jim Denney, Product Marketing Manager of TiVo and representatives from Boxee and Sling. IMHO, Jim does a good job of explaining the TiVo value proposition and hints at some of the things we'll see explored in TiVo's future products and services.
I read a post dated 08-26-2010 regarding adding a 512 GB SSD drive in a Tivo HD. from TexasGrillChef
Now that SSD have come down in price, I am thinking of buying an SSD and install in my Tivo Premier.
Can someone give some me some info on how to do it.
Like for example...
Do you add the SSD as an external device ??
Or installed it internally ?? If internal, how do you configured so that Tivo would boot up ???
Any other info/help will be appreciated.

Some body got a hold of screeners for the last two episodes of the walking dead. They've made screen caps of MAJOR spoilers and are being spread around the internets. Over at 4chan and reddit, trolls are putting these images in unrelated discussions and intentionally mis labeling them.
Personally I'm going to stop reading forums for two weeks. I've read these are show killing spoilers.

My 90-year-old mother is in a nursing home and very dependent on her TiVo (Premier) and Vizio TV. Her new roommate has an LG TV. It turns out that Vizio and LG televisions use the same coding in their IR remotes. Result: two old ladies sitting in their wheelchairs turning each other's TV on and off and changing each other's volume. They had no idea what was going on, and it took me awhile to figure it out. (At least the TiVo keeps them from changing each other's channels as well.)
Both are on Medicaid, can't afford new TVs (Medicaid takes all but $35/month of whatever income you have). I can't give my mother a new TV; Medicaid would consider that "income." A little box of electronics in the sub-$100 range would probably be acceptable. The TVs are about 8' apart, there's no way to separate them further and IR bounces all over the room.
A possible solution would be a small receiver that uses different IR codes AND has a controllable AC socket that the TV can be plugged into. But for under $100?
