Verizon is sending customers links and literature covering updated FiOS TV fees. And, sadly, TiVo owners will be paying the price. Already the most costly provider when it comes to CableCARD rentals, Verizon has jacked up the price, once again, to $4.99/month. By comparison, a DTA set-top box runs a single dollar more at $5.99/month. Unfortunately, […]

Our cable system just finally started simulcasting all the analog channels, so I'm trying to convert my wife over from her 2 tuner Premiere to my old 4 tuner Elite. (she recorded a lot of analog so couldn't use a 4 tuner before) Anyway this means I'm spending a lot of time on the Elite copying all her shows over via MRV. (she has about 1.2TB worth) It is sooooo sloooooow! I've only been using my Roamio for a few weeks but I forgot how slow the Elite was. Hopefully she doesn't notice a big difference or I may end up having to buy another Roamio soon.
Love the addition of thuuz ratings on the iPad app "what to watch" section...
Would love to see that and/or the score of the game in the guide. I still watch most sports live, so I would love to scan the guide and see what's good.
Seems like it would be easy enough to pull that info from one of the many sources out there. Anyone agree?
I have been using my old Tivo Series 2 with Dish Network for a long time on the SD output of a 2 tuner Dish Network box which also does HD on the first tuner. Recently I acquired another Series 2 Tivo Box so that I can use the 2nd tuner of the same box. This required an IR to UHF remote converter which I have set up fine and the box can easily record shows off the 2nd tuner.
However, one feature I really like is the ability to watch the recordings on my other TiVo, a TiVo HD, in another room.
For some reason, the recordings from the newer TiVo box are all marked as protected content and none of the recordings can transfer to the Tivo HD box. Can anyone shed any light on this problem? This applies even to off air broadcast channels tuned by the Dish Network receiver.
I know this might not be the best place to try to sell this, but here goes...
Up for sale is my TiVo Roamio Plus, still brand new and sealed in the box. I paid $437 for it at Best Buy with tax. Paid an additional $399 for the Lifetime Subscription. Normal price for the Lifetime Subscription is $499 through TiVo, but I got a $100 discount since I'm an existing customer (upgraded from a Premiere). I have less than two weeks to return it. I will sell it at a slight loss since I received Best Buy Reward Zone points. Will come with unit itself, all original accessories, manual and original box. Bought two and am only going to keep one. PM me with any questions or if you want actual photos of the sealed box. Thank you.
Asking $800 shipped.
Any current deals for the 4 tuner (OTA) Roamio? I'd grab one right now for $150!
I have the basic Roamio. I had a season pass to The Big Bang Theory. It recorded fine last week but this week it did not record. When I went to history, the only reason it gave was Not Recorded. There was nobody home at the time, so nobody cancelled it. I'm a little disappointed.

I've been using a Mac with EyeTV and Apple TVs for several years for my DVR duties and so got used to things being a certain way. So getting started with TiVo is a learning experience. For the most part it's been good. But there are some deficiencies that I haven't figured out yet, and I don't know if it's because I'm missing something or that they just can't be done.
1. Season Passes - This is easy and looks to be better than EyeTV. But there are a couple of scenarios that don't work for me. First, for daily programs that I only want recorded on one day. An example is PBS News Hour. I only want to record it on Friday. EyeTV would let me set up the recording on Friday and then specify that it recurs weekly. Second, daily shows that are aired twice. An example is BBC news, which airs at 2:30 and repeats at 4. I only want to record the one at 4. Are there any way to get around these problems?
2. Organization - There are shows that my wife watches, others that I watch, and yet others that we both watch. Is there any way to group shows into folders?
3. Recording that have been viewed - My wife is not very good at housekeeping (TV shows, not the house!) and depends on my to clean up and get rid of old shows. But I don't see any indicator of whether a recording has been viewed or not. I must be missing something, because this would seem like a pretty obvious feature.
I guess that's all for now. I love the iPad app. I just wish it would allow Airplay, because I'd love to be able to watch on my Mac.
I'm having streaming issues with my Roamio Plus. It will stream fine for 30 minutes or more, but then the video will eventually freeze. After I restart the stream, it will only play for a few minutes before freezing again.
I'm using an old Linksys WRT54GL router. Could that be the problem? Netflix and Amazon stream fine.
Thanks for your help.
I'm certain this has been asked many times, but cannot find the thread despite numerous searches.
I want to change the folder where Tivo recordings are stored to a removable drive (SD card or USB flash drive). Tivo desktop will not allow me to do so (OK button grayed out).
Similarly, existing recordings in the Tivo folder cannot be copied to removable media.
Any guidance welcome. Sorry for posting such a basic question.
Have an R10, that has been inactive since earlier this spring. Wanted to view some of my previously recorded programs. Hooked it up, and it booted up fine, then went through all the DirecTV blue screens, till it got to DirecTV Home Central. Clicked on the Now Playing list, and then the unit (by itself) rebooted again, and then would not get past the Powering Up screen.
Did DirecTV send some kind of kill code, to prevent me from using my (unsubscribed) R10 anymore? I called, and tried to reactivate it again, but it still would not get past the Powering Up screen.
Is this thing permanently dead now? Can I do anything, to try to get it to work again? I would like to try to save all my recorded programs, if I could.
Anybody have any help, or suggestions in this situation?
Most of the time when I do use the Xfinity Ondemand as soon as press watch the screen freezes and won't play out until I restart my Tivo Premiere. Anyone else experience this problem? Also why can't they make the interface Menu as good as the real Comcast of Ondemand?
Despite a rocky launch and Chromecast availability, Google TV soldiers on. And, at $100, the Vizio Costar is the most economical of the bunch. After a number of software updates, including availability of a full-on Amazon Instant app, the Costar warrants a look. Also unique at this price point is Google TV‘s HDMI pass-thru functionality, […]

"The Cheat is Grounded!"
I like the fact that they're actually driving around Pasadena.
So far this fall season I have been underwhelmed by just about all the new shows...
and then along came Super Fun Night.
I thought it was great - great cast, funny and loved Rebel Wilson.
The piano bar sing off might have been an ode to Pitch Perfect's popularity.
I'm looking forward to seeing how it progresses.
With Modern Family as its lead-in ABC has a great comedy hour on its hands.

My wife refuses to start a show other than the start. With that being said, I've set up an SP that has already caught a bunch of episodes of Castle, broadcast on TNT. But we would also like to record the current season.
I can't figure out how to accomplish this. It must be easy. When I search for Castle, my only option is to modify or cancel the SP we currently have.
Any help appreciated.
The Millers "Pilot" 10/03/2013
Every review ripped it. Couldn't find one positive mention. And yet I liked it.
Was it perfect? No, it's a sitcom pilot, it takes time. But Margo Martindale is a riot. And Beau Bridges nailed his role (although they could ease up on the dumb just a tad...). I could watch those two all half-hour. The rest of the cast are good enough. Will Arnett will never be in anything as good as AD, but he was ok here.
Watched it with my wife, she also liked it.
Even the fart jokes, which every reviewer ripped ("Really? Fart jokes?" said every reviewer), were funny.
