I have a THD that I got in 2009 - I used winmfs to upgrade the unit with a 1 TB drive at that time. Last night I got the Welcome! Powering Up screen forever so I figured it may be the HDD, so I replaced it with the original 160 GB drive and it worked. So I would like to put another upgrade drive in it but would like to use 2 TB this time.
From another thread I gather that Comer's jmfs rev 104 would work for that purpose. It that correct? Also, is there any chance I could use the failed drive to to the upgrade such as rich14au did for a Premiere unit? Or should I use the 160 GB original drive to do so? But if I do this I will not have the latest TIVO software, correct? I really don't care about recordings on the failed drive.
I would like to order a WD AV-GP 2 TB drive today to get here for the weekend if possible so any inputs or suggestions welcomed.
Recently purchased some slide pro remotes for my Roamios, with the intent of using the regular Roamio remote with a Mini.
I followed the steps to clear out the regular Roamio remote's memory, and it works in IR mode perfectly with the Mini. However, while using the regular Roamio remote with the Mini, the amber light blinks for 30 seconds after every button press. I know this has something to do with its RF function and pairing it with a Roamio, but I don't need it to function in RF mode for the Mini, since the Mini is only IR anyway (without using a dongle).
Bottom line, is there any way I can get the amber blinking light to stop, following every button push? Thanks in advance for any help.
I've been a TiVo user since series 1 (I found this old account just now, saw the creation date, and felt old). I go through phases of cable use and then cord cutting, depending on how much Time Warner is annoying me.
I've been 'cut' for about three years now, relying on streaming services, but I'm starting to get that cable urge again. (Which means, in a year when I decide I want to turn everything off, I have to tell TiVo retention I'm leaving the country again, haha. Or are they not as aggressive as they used to be?)
The Roamio seems intriguing. I sort of can't believe TiVo still charges $15/mo for guide data, but my main blocker is that my last tango with Time Warner involved a TiVo series 3 and the dreaded cablecard/TA dance. I expect I posted a lot here during that one.
Can anyone in the NC area tell me if this process is still as painful as it was about four years ago? And does the Roamio require the separate TA for TWCNC?
Thanks in advance!
I recently heard a slight clicking coming from my Series 3 TiVO (TCD652160). I unplugged and reboot it and it came back fine & is still working fine, but I wonder if this is a sign of a problem about to occur. Is this usually the hard drive or could this also be a sign of the power supply going?
At some point I will open it up and inspect it inside manually for bulging caps, but just wondering what this sounds more like.
Just a couple of updates - but nothing that I would call significant.
They changed the icon and splash screen to something that looks like it would be painted on a 13 yo girls bedroom wall. :)
And they added Metacritic
ratings to movies in the What To Watch
section - Meh...
They are reporting some bug fixes, so hopefully some of the Stream freezes have been addressed - but I would expect to see that more specifically reported, so I am not optimistic.
Anyone see this? I didn't like it as much as Archer, but I did get quite a few chuckles from it. The evil antagonist kidnapping vegans and force-feeding them luncheon meat made me laugh.
I like the title character. I can see some nuance in him. Seeing as it's the first show, it still had some rough edges trying to find itself. I think it should do alright as the season progresses.
I have a new Roamio Plus (now about a week old) that refuses to connect to Netflix and gives a V301 error. Calling support and chat sessions have basically not helped at all and I am not sure what the next step is. Has anyone been able to resolve a V301 error on Netflix without replacing the hardware?
So much awesome in this episode, where do we start??!!
Loretta knowing all the angles, how to work people, how to read people, so much street smarts. Sad and impressive at the same time.
Raylan staring down and backing down Hotrod and his 6 henchmen, AWESOME.
Mara playing that cop then trying to put the squeeze on Boyd, I don't see that going well :)
Boyd rolling in and making the speech to his dealers when Wynn Duffie was drowning. The hit on his shipment!!
Crowe's showing up at Dewey's spot. The fat prostitute conversation!!
Raylan moving into the mansion, rolling in the AMG.
I am a new Tivo user and love it. I do however have one small program. There are 3 programs that I have season passes for. 2 of these programs plus another programs ( no season pass )record evey day as a manual recording and I can't figure out why.
Crowley is awesome. Abaddon is awesome. Can these two become the spin off?
Now with that out of the way. WOW this was a huge episode. The beginning with Kevin getting a hunter's funeral with Dean all by himself doing it was just sad. And him freaking out in the MOL Library was even more sad. He's not getting over that guilt for awhile.
I have so much more to say but I am so swamped here today I can't seem to finish a thought. Tell me yours and I'll come back and revisit mine after work!
Should I be rooting for the buyout to go through?
Let's not focus on my TW cable bill. It's too high now and will be going up no matter what happens.
Does Charter have better service or offerings?
From CES, The Digital Media Zone got their hands on some very interesting screengrabs… showing what looks to be a TiVo app running on Roku. No, not the full-fledged, cloud-based TiVo UI ported by ActiveVideo that we filmed at the Cable Show. Rather, this sports a more traditional Roku interface that appears to replicate TiVo Mini functionality [...]

Does anyone know what the future plans of TIVO are in NZ/Australia ?
I think i saw something in an email, but can't find it. Nothing official on any forums.
are there plans for a new company to take over the 'contract' (or whatever it is called ?). I think theres 1 or 2 more years until the contract ends with the Australian company.
I *DO* like the new service with Tivo and (NZ) quickflix. i can watch movies on my main TV instead of IPAD. However it seems redundant, if the aussie company is running TIVO to extinction.
WTF? So how many open storylines do we have now?
- Coulson and the freaky brain spider
- Ice boy
So far it really seems like something important happens every episode. I wonder how long this pace can keep up. Sure there are a lot of dumb things (hover jet), but so far I can look past that.
I have noticed that the downside of giving a program thumbs up is that instead of getting recorded suggestions similar to that show/movie, I end up getting episodes of that program, even programs for which I have a Season Pass. My suggestions for improving TiVo Suggestions are:
1) Create a way to designate that you want shows like it but don't want that particular show (perhaps using a similar system to designating keywords as optional or excluded)
2) Have TiVo suggestions avoid recording shows for which you have a Season Pass
3) Set up HD menus on Now Playing to allow you to rate them without going into the info screen
If one cancels Tivo, disconnects any internet access and has a cable card in it -
1. how long before one loses the guide?
2. how long before the record function goes away?
It seems like I have a somewhat common problem, but haven't found any real definitive answer as to what might fix it. I'm constantly getting 'V69 - Network too slow' or 87 errors 'connection to tivo lost. I can barely watch a recorded show for 3 minutes without getting the error. Every so often it gives me 10 minutes.
I have the Verizon Actiontec MI424WR-GEN3I router and a fairly simple setup. The cable in the living room is split in two, one for the router and one for the TiVo Roamio Plus. And in the bedroom just to the TiVo Mini.
The router is a gigabit router and should be fast enough. I've set both Tivos to have static IP's which hasn't done the trick.
I've seen mention of a POE filter, is this something that could fix the problem? Are there any router settings that may help?
Our hopes for and speculation of a TiVo Android streaming reveal at CES were dashed in Vegas last week. While I have it on good authority that private demos took place, one can only assume the company isn’t quite as far along as they’d hoped and/or they’re saving the announcement for more opportune timing. During [...]

When I noticed the winter update was on my TiVo the first thing I did was pull up the Netflix app, and there was "Play on ... Living Room." I tried it and something started happening -- the Netflix app started, so I was excited until I realized that I had the update but not the new Netflix app.
Now I have the new Netflix app and I tried it again and still get no joy. Has anyone gotten this working? Am I missing something? It launches the app but never seems to play for me.
I've tried this both on the iOS and Android Netflix apps. Both apps see the TiVo as a target to play back, so DIAL is at least partially implemented?
