I'm wondering if I update my tivo premier to a roamio and have only one tivo with cablecards (i.e. just have one box with cable company) that my premier can tap the extra roamio recorders like a mini does.
One of my boxes is reporting a C133 service issue and fails Internet connection tests at negotiating. (N17), but passes port tests and Netflix works. Another box passed the Internet connection test, but failed a service connection over night and again 2 times this morning (config failed first time, negotiating 2nd time).
It looks like a TiVo service problem. Anyone else having issues?
Could this get interesting? I have yet to like any cablebox other than my tivo, and the premier has left a bad taste in my mouth (for reasons everyone I think shares). I have not personally used the roameo but if folks could pick up an apple tv with cablebox capability and icloud recording for $99 with no monthly subscription.... (all conjecture on my part btw).
Mulé revealed his new position in a post to his LinkedIn page on Tuesday (via Multichannel), noting that he started working at Apple in September. Under the Experience column, Mulé said he would be "Challenged, inspired and part of something big" in his role as Engineering Director.
The hire was confirmed by Mulé's most recent employer CableLabs, which is now looking to fill the outgoing executive's former position of Senior VP of Technology Development.
Mulé has a pedigree in cable technology, and most recently worked for two years as CableLabs' SVP of Technology Development. During that time, he founded the firm's San Francisco office, which is currently building out a new research and development center in Sunnyvale, Calif. Prior to that, Mulé served as CableLabs' director of PacketCable Architecture and chief architect.
I need to get a unit for recording OTA, and am trying to decide between the 652160 and the Premiere. I've read in this Forum that there might be issues with the OTA tuner in the Premiere and that has me concerned. I live about 28 miles from the local towers, not sure if there is multipath issues since I haven't cut the cable cord yet.
But I would like to have at least 320GB and a hard drive that's not more than a year old if I can help it. I've been checking eBay, and wondering if I should go for a Series 3 with an upgraded (and larger) hard drive, or get a more recent Premier. I only have one television...an SD but will likely be getting an HDTV within 6 months or so.
Any suggestions? Sometimes the costs are not too different depending on storage capacity. Thanks.
Well, holy crap. Didn't expect to see three significant deaths (plus Ratboy) at this early stage of the season! I'm with Toric..."Didn't see that coming."
So Tig's off the hook, maybe. But the Sons are at war on two fronts (three if you count the Feds, although the Aryans look like they're now half a front at best). Will Toric's misdeeds come to light fast enough to save the Sons (and of course Nero) some major headaches?
It's interesting that things that seemed so complicated last week have become relatively simple. Tara and Wendy in cahoots explains a lot. Tig's seemingly inevitable death was just a test and the prelude to a deal with Pope Industries.
I'm gonna miss Phil...
The team is coming together with skills meshing reasonably well.
Another nod to the earlier movies in the Marvel 'verse.
A bit of a reveal.
A nice cameo/guest appearance.
Roamio Plus, Comcast, no Tuning Adapter.
Did anyone else miss New Girl on Fox tonight? My Tivo says it didn't record because it was "No Longer in Guide".
But, it's clearly listed in the Guide data.
My Season passes for the show before it and after it on the same channel recorded fine. The one before it is padded by 2 minutes, so I saw the beginning of New Girl at the end of that recording.
Any ideas, or anyone seeing this happen?
FYI....the Season Pass for New Girl shows it's scheduled to record next week. And this same season pass recorded the show last week. Thankfully I have Xfinity On Demand and will be able to watch it on that when it shows up.
My problems are getting worse. In addition to missing recordings because "channel signal not available" (1-3 a day), all of my recordings are now not following the clock. Recording should start at 7:30, instead starts at 7:32. Then ends at 7:58. etc etc
Marvel Agents started at 7:08, then stopped at 8:02, s/b 7:00 to 8:00. And on and on. Every recording. The TiVo clock is correct, the To-Do list reads correctly, but the recordings seem to start/stop when they want.
Any clues? I'm going to reboot shortly, but hate to miss more recordings than I already am.
And the missing signals: Tonight it recorded a show, then when I went to Live TV after the recording ended, "no signal". This was right after it recorded on that channel.
This new Pro worked like a charm for the first three weeks of its life. All of this started within the last 4-6 days.
I keep my TDL set to show will record and conflicts so that I can easily see what conflicts, if any, are coming up. That works great except now I'm getting conflicts listed when there really isn't a conflict.
SPs for MJF Show and Sean Saves the World both set for new episodes only on 2 tuner Premiere. The programs are scheduled to record on Thursday, but they are also being re-aired the next day in the 7-8pm slot. At that time I'm already recording MasterChef and Undercover Boss. My Premiere shows that MJF and Sean won't record because of a conflict even though those eps are already scheduled to record on Thursday.
To see what would happen, I canceled the Undercover Boss recording. The conflict went away and the shows were not scheduled to record. When I set Undercover Boss to record, the false conflict was there again.
These false conflicts waste my time by making me check to make sure that I'm not really missing new episodes.
New to the game here and almost asked this in the "What is my S2 worth?" thread, but decided against derailing that thread and starting a new one.
Referring to the US, non-Direct TV models, do all the prior series still work if you're willing to pay for it? Could you activate and use a Series 1 still and have it work within its limited space and feature set or has the cable industry tech changed in a way that the signal won't be interpreted correctly or whatever? Or, likewise, has TiVo dropped support for any old models? I'm thinking about picking up a backup with lifetime for a bedroom, but we'd basically never use it so I'd want it to be dirt cheap and not drive up my monthly bill.
Doubt this show will last long enough to warrant episode threads. It's a shame because I'm a huge fan of Stuart Townsend (XIII Series) and James Cromwell (more things than I can name).
I wanted to like it and didn't care for the pilot. It has a "Scandal" feel without the great Rhimes script (dialog in particular). A little too slow and the music selection needs to be revisited.
I'll give it another episode.
I have a Tivo HD that freezes. It started this spring happening once a month, but now it's up to daily or so. When it got to once a week, I started trying to do something about it (new baby, little time for non emergency stuff).
I've gone through the whole list of everything I could find to try. Kickstart 54 passes all the tests. 52, 57, and 58 yielded no change. I assumed it was just the drive anyway so I used DVRBARS to do a truncated backup and a full restore to an extra drive (came out of a fully functioning NAS). Tivo behaves exactly the same regardless of which drive I am using. I've also done a complete Clear and Delete everything and repeated guided setup. Still exactly the same. The voltages test out to 12 and 5 and all the capacitors look perfect (no bulging or discoloration).
The drive in it when this started was a WD Cavier Green 1 TB drive with all the things done to it you're supposed to do before using it in a Tivo. I replaced the original drive almost 3 years ago when my expander failed.
I has lifetime service, so I'd love to get it fixed (although I'd also like a Roamio). Does anyone have anything else I should try? The only thing I can could do at this point is try and get Comcast to put in a different cable card, but I've never been convinced that a cable card caused any issues like this. I could be wrong there though. One weird thing is that it only ever seems to lock up when you aren't watching it. I'll come back, turn on the tv, and the screen with be frozen and the Tivo remote unresponsive. It always boots back up after you unplug it and plug it back in.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have 3 Tivo HDs and they have been functioning fine for years...
This weekend one after the other they lost their names I have assigned to them on Tivo.com.
Instead, in System info they display DVR Name: <Name this DVR on tivo.com>
(On Tivo.com, all 3 have names showing correctly)
In now playing list, each one shows the other 2 DVRs as "DVR-1234 DVR" where 1234 is the last 4 digits of the Tivo's service number.
Multi Room Viewing is also broke. When I try to browse the shows on other Tivos it displays "DVR-1234 DVR has no recordings. Press left to return to Now Playing List."
Off course all 3 Tivos are full of recordings. I can record new ones and watch existing ones.
I forced service connections & rebooted Tivos several times, but the issue doesn't appear to go away.
When searching this forum I see that this happened to some Tivos a couple years ago and it turned out to be an issue with Tivo Servers. I am wondering if same thing is happening again.
Has anyone else seen this issue?
I have a Tivo HD with a 1TB drive. I have had it for years and just started running into problems with it being slow and Netflix bugging out on it sometimes. So this morning I initiated a kickstart 57 before I left for work. I get home and it is stuck in the infinite Green screen loop. I have been searching and found this is most likely caused by the Swap partition not being large enough for a 1TB drive.
Does anyone know if it is possible to increase the partition size of the swap partition without losing any of my recordings? Or of another way I can break this infinite loop?
I am tempted to try backing up the drive with winmfs, then restoring it but this time increasing the swap partition size. Do you guys think that will work?
I recently divorced an external drive, did a C&D and started from scratch on an S3. It is connected to my network via Ethernet cable. It connects to Tivo fine and pulls an i.p. address. It currently does not have any recordings on it.
When I go to Now Playing it does not see my 2 Roamios, but the Roamios can see it. I have tried both soft and hard resets but no change.
I'd never watched a single episode of this show until last night. It's on Amazon Prime so figured I'd give it a whirl.
Had to be some of the most cringe-worthy bad acting & writing I've ever witnessed. This episode had Mac pulling a "sting" on the bad guy (who wore all white) after he scams all of Mac's friend's money. And they had this blonde chick with Tootsie glasses who had to be one of the worst actresses I've ever seen. And the bad guy kept going along with the scam and believing every word. Never questioning a thing. silly
Anybody here ever watch and like this show?
Overall not a bad episode. Though I agree with my co-worker that the first storm scene looked like something out of a 80s metal music video (didn't I see Tawny Kitaen at the mizzen mast? :) ).
I was also mad at myself for dismissing how much the "runaway Lost Boy" looked just like what I would expect Peter Pan to look like. I watched the hour-long "series recap" show that was aired just before this, and the producers warned us to "forget the Peter Pan you know about, including the peanut butter". :) So when I saw Peter Pan, I thought "that kinda looks like a "Peter Pan", but with the shadow ripper running around we all thought *that* was him (and it still may be?).
Emma jumping in the water and being hit by the only piece of detached-by-lightning debris was also a bit much, but oh well. :)
I did appreciate Neal in the Enchanted Forest, telling Mulan that they made a movie about her, etc. And it was nice to leave Storybrooke behind... how long will that last? Have they cut adrift all of those actors/characters (Granny, Red, Jiminy, dwarves, etc)?
The two things I'm looking forward to are: 1) the explanation of the shadow creature and 2) what Peter Pan wants with Henry. My guess on #2 is that Henry can somehow "fuel" some multi-dimension/world takeover scheme with his "believing" ability.
When i watch netflix, it reboots the tivo occasionally. i never had a premiere, but this has happened 3 times in the last 2 days. i have it hard wired.
I guess this was an issue with the premiere - but i never saw this so much on the XL (Series 3)...
Tivo themselves dont seem to know much about this. Thinking of returning box to BestBUY. Im pretty upset at Tivo for this. Netflix crashing should not cause a full box reboot. This is a pretty crappy app setup.
