I'd be really interested in seeing a default set of channels that either upon reboot your Tivo tunes into or that the user can set to tune to on a daily basis.
Most would see this as frivolous but here is why I'd like it.
If I could tell Tivo on a daily basis to tune to all of my local channels then when I get home around 5:15 if no tuner was required for recording, then I could switch to a local channel and still have 30 minutes of the news.
I notice that when I reboot, all tuners become set to one channel (not sure if this was the last channel I viewed, etc.). It'd be nice to have a set of channels to auto tune to (if not in use) for a reboot.
When I press the info button and use the down arrow to display the tuners, I only see 5 tuners. Shouldn't I see six?
If the info screen is up and I press Live TV, I am only cycling through 5 channels. I haven't changed anything since I set my Roamio up last month.
So, my new Roamio pro arrived early this afternoon. I was able to hook it up to my tv, moved the cable from the HD to the Roamio, and did guided setup. It started a software update, so I went out for an hour or so to run an errand. It seemed to be done when I got back, but no channels, including broadcast.
So I installed the cable card that I got from Comcast earlier in the week, and dutifully called comcast to pair it. The agent was very helpful and told me she was sending a signal. She also told me it would take about 30 minutes. When I left it was at "Please wait ... Acquiring Channel Information" Loading showed 50%
I had plans for the evening, so left both the TIVO and the TV on and went out. I came back about 4 hours later, and it was at the same point. Comcast of course is now closed.
For grins, I looked at the my shows and noticed it can see my other two Tivo's. So, I decided to start transferring shows (although it has since occurred to me that since I have enough inputs on the tv to just add the Roamio I might as well watch from the old tivos, and just move all the recordings to the new one). About 15-30 minutes in, I get error 133 but the message says temporary. Googling around, I see that sometimes a reboot fixes. I reboot.
It's still acquiring channels. The downloading continued, but about 15-20 later, another 133. Rebooted again, and it seemed to finish transferring 3 shows, but the last fail was a 30 minute one.
Does this sound like a problem with the Roamio? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
I checked my uptime and it was approximately 60 hours. Are there reboots for the Roamio that are expected and normal?
Occasionally my Roamio Pro will initiate 2 recording simultaneously of the same program on the same channel. 1 recording will be listed in My To Do list with the correct name and look completely normal. The 2nd recording will have a generic name that lists the channel but lacks any other guide data.
It seems to affect programs where I have a season pass enabled but I'm not certain.
I have kind of a weird situation (but a good one, I believe).
I have two Tivo HDs that have literally never been opened. New in (unopened) box, they've been sitting in a closet for 3+ years. They came from Blockbuster's sale. Worst case, I was planning on using them for parts. As fate would have it, as part of a (much) bigger purchase (Roamios/Minis) I was able to talk Tivo into discounting lifetime on them - my argument was they're older boxes that otherwise won't generate any revenue. I'm sure it helped the argument that I hadn't yet spent anything but was willing to drop a bunch on Roamios & Minis if they did so.
Here's my question(s): What is each one worth? (I know, what someone will pay for them.) Looking mostly for ballpark estimates. I don't want to open & upgrade them unless absolutely necessary, as some people will prefer the notion of a shiny new unused TIVO, even if it's not the latest model. Worst case, I'll upgrade them & sell to someone who wants the expanded storage - even then I'd try to leverage the fact they haven't been opened & wait to do the upgrade until an agreement's in place.
The other question would be what's the best avenue for selling them? I'd rather sell locally & avoid shipping if possible. The catch is that people on Craigslist are flaky & often don't know what they're getting, they just know they want a lower price.
One more thing & this is a longshot, but I'll ask: If they're still in the 30-day money back guarantee window, is there a creative way to transfer the lifetime from one of the boxes to something like a base Roamio?
I currently have Comcast's X1 service (cable, phone, internet) and being a "mature" (read old) student, it's time to cut back on expenses. My wife's company has a contract with TiVo so she gets a pretty sweet equipment discount as well as a small service discount. I want to use the basic Roamio with a pair of TiVo minis along with a Mohu amplified antenna that I picked up yesterday that seems to be pulling in channels fairly well.
So in researching the installation of this equipment I'm a bit confused as to what I do and don't need to make everything work. In the living room the Roamio will be connected to the antenna as well as to the Comcast internet through the router via an ethernet connection. The confusion comes in where I try to figure out exactly how the Roamio communicates with the two Minis. Can anyone help me understand exactly how this should be connected together? The diagrams on the TiVo website haven't really helped me too much.
Thanks in advance for any help!
I just got a mini today after getting a roamio a couple weeks ago. Both are in the same room connected to different tvs. I have changed the remote code on both the mini (code 3) and roamio (code 9) and the mini remote continues to control the roamio. Any ideas as to why its doing that?
what does the Modem do when it dies i can't get it to connect at all i hear it dial but it says failed can't connect or not answering
I have my Season Pass Manager choices set to record only NEW episodes...yet, TiVo is recording all episodes, even repeated episodes. I only wAnt to record the shows with the yellow NEW badge in the guide.
Is there a remedy for that?
Is there a way to download program content from my Premiere thru Stream to a portable memory device (SD card, USB stick)? I can download to a new iPad, but a couple of movies will max out the iPad's memory. If I want to take a few movies or other TV programs from my Premiere with me on a trip I could use something like RAVPower FileHub 5-in-1 to hold the media files and stream to iPad. Before that will work I need a way to get the media files onto some portable memory device(s). Any solution?
I have three TIVOs (XL4, XL, XL).
XL4 = FrontRoomXL4
XL = OfficeXL
XL = BedRoomXL
I was using the FrontRoomXL4 (STANDING in my front room) to record the Super Bowl events using the on screen guide. (Highlight, click Record button, etc..) The plan was to finish setting up on the XL4, then setup on one of the others, just in case!
I was about finished on the first DVR and clicked the Record button the Postgame show (XL4) and a picture of a TIVO showed up on the top right corner of that screen and under it said "BedRoomXL". I was stunned. I'm standing in my front room (FrontRoomXL4), so I clicked through to record it and then walked into the bedroom and it was scheduled. None of the other Super Bowl related shows were scheduled yet.
Is there an undocumented feature (pre-feature)?
I called TIVO to see if I missed something, I can't find squat about this.
YES, this really did happen. NO, I'm not drinking! :)
I get the v125 error when I try to play all shows in a group especially if it is a large group it does it more. I have a friend that is experiencing the same thing
PLEASE HELP! "Web Video HotList Frozen" on my Roamio. (interface to BROWSE web content) I can get to the app interface, it loads and looks modern and pretty, but once in there none of the RF remote buttons do a single thing, except for the TiVo button which kicks me right out of the app. (I'm blocking IR reception due to unrelated reasons)
BACKGROUND INFO: This is a 2 week old (lowest end) Roamio with OTA only, using both Ethernet and WiFi. I have Lifetime service, new remote batteries, and a 3TB WD AVGP single HDD inside. All other TiVo functions and screens seem to work fine. I can even use the normal FIND (or my PC's web browser via TiVo.com) to download web content to Roamio, but the primary "Web Video HotList" app seems to not respond to any controls.
PS: I got no response before, think because I posted in the wrong forum. So admin, feel free to delete the other one.
Is it just as easy to sell and transfer a lifetime'd mini, to someone else, as w/ a regular lifetime Tivo? What's the going price?
Still deciding on taking the advisor discount for Mini;
not sure I can use it to replace my lifetime'd Premiere, as I have an S3 as main device that I can't directly stream to the mini, have to transfer to my roamio first which is a bit of a pain.
My local TWC cable system in Austin is changing the channel lineup in March and basically combining the SD/HD channels such that instead of having an equivalent HD channel for a SD channel, there will now be one new channel. The online FAQ's mentions this here:
Where can I find HD channels?
The new lineup is no longer broken up by HD and SD channels. HD converters will show you the best signal available of a channel or program, which is usually HD. SD converters, meanwhile, will show only SD channels.
So will my Roamio plus, cable card and tuning adapter take care of this automatically for me, or is it possible that TWC's "HD Converters" mentioned above is what will be needed?
I had to call TiVo three times today...and spoke with Comcast on 4 different calls. Comcast kept insisting that my cablecard was paired...yet my Roamio disagreed. Finally, on the last call the Comcast technician "manually paired" it...and instantly I had a cable guide. HOWEVER...the premium channels are not coming through...they show up on the guide, but don't play.
So, they're sending out a repair guy this afternoon to look into it.
This process really sould be simpler.
Has anyone noticed with the new Netflix app that when you choose a title the list of options does not end with the subtitle on/off choice. I saw this last night when signing in for Breaking Bad. When I exited and signed in using my Sony internet TV it showed up as the last choice as usual. I tried using the normal Tivo subtitle method (info button, up/down arrow) when in Tivo Netflix but all it did was abort the Netflix. Does anyone know how to toggle subtitles in the new Tivo Netflix interface?
