Decided to jump on the Roamio bandwagon, and sell my 648 S3 OLED with lifetime. I replaced the power supply in it and it has a <1 yr old 2T hard drive. I don't know the best place to sell it, though. Should I put it up on eBay? Sell it here? Craig's list?
What's the best move?
Former ion stations in Houston have moved to a low power frequency. In the former ch 49 is now the main ion channel and about ten subchannels. My research reveals they are encrypted premium movie channels and also Spanish Tv. A special reciever is required to pick up the premium channels. The box is from airbox tv. I would not mind Showtime for a small fee. No way I want another box though, the Premiere is doing just fine. I do wonder if the new company box will have a guide since there is a payment plan...and I wonder if Tivo would ever be able to have a compatible device that picks up the encrypted channels?
The show airing tonight ("Car Chase Chaos; Animal Antics") lists an Original Air Date of 9/16/2013 on both my TiVo and Zap2It.com. Since my Season Pass is set to record only new episodes, it was set to be skipped over and not recorded. I had to set a manual recording to ensure it'd get saved.
Does the Premiere allow OTA channels while using the CableCard and if so how? It has 2 coax connectors on back, one for each. It says channel scanning is not possible with my present setup.
I've been using my Roamio for OTA, but getting only 2 channels isn't cutting it (This is my location, but the fault of the Roamio). I called Time Warner to see what they'd charge for the locals only package. They said it would add $20 to my bill (Currently have high speed internet with them), which I thought was ridiculous, but said go ahead anyway, but when I mentioned that I needed a cable card for my Tivo, they flat out refused. I told them they were required by law to issue cable card, and they said yes, but not for this particular package. It REQUIRED their receiver, and REQUIRED a professional $50 install as well. Is this right? Can they refuse to issue cable cards on their basic, locals only package?
Curious what the specs of the Roamio are (Specifically the CPU and RAM, and specifically for the base unit if they're different), and why the 7 year old PS3 runs faster than my Roamio. The speed isn't bad, especially compared to the Premiere, but loading apps is extremely slow compared to my PS3.
I am looking to subscribe to one of the TiVo compatible music services for my Premieres, smartphones and tablets; Pandora, Spotify or Rhapsody. Unless it has changed recently, I know Pandora is more of a radio streaming service so I am probably leaning more toward Spotify or Rhapsody (music on Demand). Which one do you like using with TiVO and why?
What formats does the TiVo Premiere recognize when you enter a custom URL in the "Enter a URL" screen at the http:// prompt?
I've been trying to listen to Priarie Home companion live for 2 years now.
I am looking at possibly getting a mini for my setup. It would be connected to a 4-tuner Premiere that is currently in our bedroom. I would move this Premiere to another location and then put the Mini in the bedroom. All of my TiVos are hard wired via Ethernet connections.
Three questions about the mini:
- Does it now have Netflix on it ( I thought I remember reading here is does, but don't see it mentioned anywhere on the TiVO website)
- Judging from some posts here, I am pretty sure dynamic tuning has been fully implemented, correct?
- Does the Mini still have a 'timeout' feature? I think I read a post that says its at 90mins. Can this possibly be changed and/or removed?
- If possible, is there also an option to 'lock' a tuner from the Premiere? I have other Premieres in my setup so totally dedicating a tuner is a viable option in order to maybe avoid the timeout issue.
I have the new Roamio (4 tuner). I'm trying to hookup up my blu-ray player also. I can't find a HDMI splitter that will work with the Roamio. Can anyone recommend one that will work?
I'm getting a little frustrated with the navigation on my new Roamio. Hopefully I'm just missing something...
When I'm watching a recording and accidentally hit the TiVo menu button - the recording continues in the small window while the TiVo menu pops up. Is there a quick way to clear the menu and resume the recording? Right now I'm going back to my recordings and selecting the show again. It's pretty inconvenient given how frequently we accidentally hit the TiVo button now that it's RF and doesn't require line of sight to the box.
Would love a similar feature for Netflix....but I doubt that exists. :(
Is there a way to get back to what I'm watching quickly? Thanks!
I am thinking about upgrading from a TiVo Elite (TiVo Premiere XL4). However, I am not sure I can justify the upgrade (even though I want too)
Here is what I know is different:
- Faster - My current TiVo seems a little slow, but doesn't bug me too often
- Stream - I don't have an iPad
- More Space - Don't think I have ever used more than 60%
- More Tuners - it happens but is rare I use all 4 tuners
I do have a mini and I love it.
I would get a Pro. I figure I can sell my current TiVo (has a lifetime) and with that the new TiVo would cost me about $500.
What am I missing? How can I justify this? HELP!
I missed recording this. Where would you go to try and obtain this for viewing?
Feel free to IM if necessary.
.....other than a Tivo to Tivo transfer?
Here is my problem..... i have two Tivo Premiers. Both of them are pretty full at this point.
I have tried several times to do a "transfer from pause point" but it does not work. Perhaps that is because both of them are so full.
Is there any other way to accomplish this?
I recently had to factory re-set my Comcast Gateway modem (Arris TG862). All is working fine. I did a diagnostic check on my Premiere XL and it failed the port test saying Port 80 was not open. The Tivo is hard wired to my networked via LAN and can pull down the guides fine (I have guide info to 2/5/14), access my desktop so I can show home pictures and videos on the TV, transfer shows to and from an older Tivo on the network, and Tivo Desktop sees it and lets me download recordings fine. I can also stream Netflix. In short, I don't see that I am missing out on anything so do I need to open that port and what value would it be? Thanks
Hello- Woke up this morning, and TiVo removed Pandora from the music service options.
What happened? It is absolutely gone (as far as I can tell). If TiVo removed Pandora, I am finally soooo done with TiVo and will end my 10+yrs of time with TiVo.
Where did Pandora go?
As our homes acquire sentience, a few are attempting to traverse the technological silos… in an approachable way, suitable for civilians and geeks alike. While companies like Zonoff, Revolv, and Smarthings each strive to take home automation mainstream with somewhat differing technological and marketing approaches, they share a vendor- and network-neutral approach as they aim to [...]

We're going to be hooking up a mini and a slingbox 350. Using the breakout component cable between them. Debate over whether to do component from slingbox to tv or can we do hdmi from mini to tv. Would both component and hdmi outputs from mini be active simultaneously? Any comments?
A few days ago, I noticed a new season was starting as my season pass started picking up reruns of season 1.
So I joined the Tivo fan base over a year ago with a used Premiere XL and a OLED S3, and while I love my XL it is starting to act up. For example, every once in a while my rewind function will go past the normal 30 min live record time then when I hit play it will start but out of nowhere it will catch itself up to where it needs to be. Then there are times when a recorded program will end and it goes back to My Shows and it would be all black except for the live tv show in the upper right corner. Is this just my hard drive or are you guys experiencing the same software issue?
The S3 needs a new hard drive, which is understandable due to its age, and I know it is not that difficult to replace, minus the striped screw, but I would hate to replace this hard drive as well seeing that I would have hoped to get at least a couple more years out of it. Any information would be great. (Especially on the striped screw) Thanks!
