Moving to Milwaukee burbs, had a choice of U-verse and Time Warner..looks like TWC ony one that supports TiVo. Any pointers? Running XL4 off Fios MOCA and an HD XL off wifi G. Does TWC do moca? Ive poked thru the forums and didnt see anything conclusive. So much easier and faster using Moca.
Yes, this is the results show thread. Since the results show recaps the performance show, discussion of both shows for this week (as well as all previously aired shows) is fair game.
I am happy to see Sabrina go home. Just like I was happy to see her go early the first time she was on the show. I really don't enjoy anything about her. And I don't think I'm the only one since she doesn't get the audience votes.
I'm glad Apolo and Karina danced an encore. I thought they deserved the perfect score for that one.
And no elimination next week due to the election.
Crap, Derek isn't going to dance next week and Shawn will be with Mark. Ugh, I can't stand Mark.
The lead-in to the ABC Primetime shows tonight says that "The Perfect Storm" will be airing at 10:00 PM -- Zap2It reveals that this is an episode of 20/20 about Hurricane Sandy.
So that means no new Private Practice tonight.
I'm changing the SP from First Run to all with duplicates to get around the 28-day rule problems.
I relate this story in case others are in my position and don't want to lose recordings that have no reason to be deleted.
I installed 20.2.2 today.
Before that, I had a number of recordings that were expired. Disk usage was 92%. I have most recordings KUID. So not all future recordings were scheduled to record because of a future disk space problem. (You don't need to tell me I'm doing it "wrong". I'm doing it this way for my own reasons.)
After the install, I noticed my disk usage was 87%. I puzzled over that until I realize that all my expired recordings had been deleted.
For instance, "This show was deleted because space was needed to record other shows on 10/30 at 10:49pm".
But space wasn't needed. I still have about 50 recordings in the deleted folder.
So I believe there is an error in the new software that deletes expired recordings even when the space is not needed. I'm hoping this is one-time only at the install, rather than a continuing issue.
And my main reason for mentioning this is to give others in my situation a chance to change expired recordings that they may want to watch so they aren't deleted during the install.
Maybe I missed this somewhere in all the chatter, but after the Fall 2012 update, my Linux machine running PyTiVo which is connected to the Premiere now appears as an exclamation point (!) in the My Shows listing. It used to be an icon of a computer.
Is this supposed to mean something special? I tested pulling a video and playing it from the computer and it works fine.
I've had Stream for over a month now. It is hooked up to my Premiere (ethernet to the router). The setup works and I am able to watch the stream on my iPhone5 and my iPad.
However, a lot of the times (I would say 7 out of 10) - the connection keeps dropping (even when I am in the same room as the stream/tivo/tv). I have a small house so I am never more than 30 feet away from the stream. When I reboot the stream box, it starts to work again and can find the stream again.
This is very frustrating. I've paid for the stream box and also paid Verizon FIOS to get my router moved next to the TV/TiVO - and still can not really use this product. I am never sure that I will be able to watch stream in my bed - or I will have to go downstairs to reboot the box.
Are the others not having this issue? I can not believe this is unique to me.
I recently purchased a Premiere XL. It is located in the living room. I have 2 other tv's in which I would like to watch the same high def signal on. Currently I have coax running to the other tv's.
I also have 2 HR 10-250 boxes from when I had D*. Is there a way to connect all of the Tivo boxes? Or would an HDMI splitter be the best way to go along with new HDMI wiring? Or is there a way to use the coax to distribute the signal? Thanks.
Surprised Letterman put on a show with no audience. I was a little bit disturb when Alan Kalter comes storming in eight minutes into the show pissed off to the world basically calling Letterman an a**hole for not letting him know there was a show that night. If I was Letterman and this wasn't some preplanned skit I would have told Kalter to go home and stay home.
I have an XL4 and use the SD menus and am still on version 2.2.1. The time it takes for a menu to dispilay has started to lag maybe 2-4 seconds. The yellow light flashes right away but there is a significant delay before the menu is displayed, and sometime it will paint part of the menu before filling in the rest of the information. Any ideas.
The second episode of "Hunted" on Cinemax did not record.
Checking the date codes for the first two episodes, I found that they are off by 14 days. I had to manually tape tomorrow's rerun.
Is there any way to limit the number of times a show is recorded daily, if the first-run and repeat options are set? I record a couple Disney shows for the kids and keep 4 recordings. First-Run only isn't a good option because there aren't often new episodes. However, Disney seems to always be doing marathons and it seems like this show is on 10+ times a day. The problem is that every time I turn the TV on and turn around, TIVO switches to record the Disney show again because I missed the Tivo inquiry asking me if it's ok to change channels. If you turn on the news while you're making dinner and don't watch closely it changes the channel. Annoying and definately a first world problem, but I wondered if there was a "maximum of x times per day" setting.
In the Disney/LucasArts press release it was mentioned that the next Star Wars film would be released in 2015.
So you think that they'll start the next movies using the Thrawn Trilogy by Zahn? Or something else? I'm already looking forward to it.
I certainly hope they don't go all animated like the Clone Wars series. That was ok for a while, but it got old for me.
My stream has been stuttering badly when streaming TV (as in every minute or two at least, making TV basically unwatchable), which, per TiVo's support FAQ, suggests network bandwidth problems.
My setup was as follows; Fios Internet service comes into Verizon-provided Actiontech router, with wireless enabled. I have a D-Link Gigabit switch (DGS-1024D Unmanaged 10/100/1000Mbps) connected to port one on the Actiontech router. The TiVo Stream and TiVo Premier Elite (XL4) were both connected to the Gigabit switch. The only device using wireless in my house was my iPad (gen 1), which is running the TiVo app.
I thought maybe the actiontech router itself was getting bogged down, so I hooked up the Belkin Wireless N router I had before we had Fios, but set it up as a switch rather than a router (DHCP disabled, WAN port not connected, port 1 connected to the Gigabit switch), and then connected the iPad to the Belkin router--figuring that way the Actiontech was totally out of the loop. The iPad was the only wireless device on the Belkin router (only wired device was my printer). However, the stream still stuttered badly.
I then reached out to TiVo Support, and they had me connect the TiVo and the stream directly to the actiontech router along with the iPad, thereby cutting out the switch, and surprise, shows don't stutter.
So, any ideas why an unmanged gigabit switch would cause network latency? I was thinking the switch should be the fastest part of the network, not the bottleneck. I'd really prefer to run the TiVo and the stream off the switch if I can, but ultimately I can run them off the router directly if I need to. However, this has me wondering if my switch is defective (it was an open box special). Any thoughts?
I have a Tivo HD Series 3, Motorola SDV box, TW CableCard, 1tb WD expander and Apple Time Capsule.
I have owned this Tivo dvr for a couple of years and it was set-up to TW. It worked fine the entire time I was with TW. I switched to Uverse for 3 months and did not like that service. However, I could still watch my old recordings on the Tivo connected to tv with HDMI. So I switched back to TW and got a new cablecard.
Tivo successfully connected using wifi. But it did not load TW programming data. Talking to Tivo customer service I was directed to go through complete Guided Set-up. The Tivo is stuck in the set-up getting error S03 at the last stage of downloading data. There have been 15+ reboots of all cables and power supplies. The Tivo dvr was initially connected to a faulty coaxial splitter and I wonder if that caused this problem.
The only help that I have found in this forum so far is to do a Kick Start. However that will loose all of the Season Passes and old recordings.
It does not make sense to me that the Tivo dvr worked fine minutes before the Guided Set-up and now possibly has a corrupt HD.
Please suggest anything that may work to get through the guided set-up. I was using the Tivo wifi adaptor but now have Tivo dvr connected directly to TW Motorola router with ethernet. The cablecard is paired and active. The faulty 4-way splitter was replaced. The WD expander was also disconnected from power source, powered up, connected to Tivo dvr, followed by the powering up the Tivo dvr. The expander is particular about how it is turned on.
The Tivo dvr was working fine and now it's in looping hell. Do you think it could be using a 4-way splitter rather than having 2 separate wall outlets and using 2-way splitters? Maybe the cable signal is weak and interrupts data download. I'm grabbing at straws.
Should I disconnect the cables from 4-way splitter to TW dvr, TW phone modem and Time Capsule, and only connect cables to Tivo dvr and TW router? If I disconnect expander from dvr it will loose all pre-recorded shows.
Is there any way to see the season passes & download the content before doing a drastic Kick Start?
This is the most current thread on Error mssg S03
I just purchased a Tivo Premiere and whenever I enter the Amazon Instant Video Menu the screen changes from HD mode to SD. Is that normal? Is there a setting that I'm missing?
Everyone has experienced the desire to program at one point or another. However, there are generally four limiting factors: Time Constraints, Study Material, Mental Blocks, and Attention Span. So clear your schedule, clear your mind, and self-medicate your ADD with a nice cup of your favorite coffee because here’s the material you need to learn how to program.
The hardest part of learning to program is overcoming a mental block. First, there is no programming deity out there who grants code-literacy to anyone. Learning to code is the same as learning any language—there are nouns, verbs, and sentences that come together in a certain way in order to make sense to the computer. Once you’ve written down a complete thought, the program works properly.
So, I would prefer to watch episodic TV (from DVDs) on my Premiere.
I have anyDVD, which can rip the episodes off of the DVD. And I know you're supposed convert that to MPEG2, but not sure how to integrate titles and sound.
Not trying to steal anything, just watch on my Tivo as opposed to watching on a DVD player.
I wonder if anyone else has tried this?
