Running into a problem with the new Netflix app....
While trying to watch Adam-12 and the original Star Trek series, it seems that the original 4:3 aspect ratio has been stretched to 16:9.
Everything looks normal when the Netflix app starts. Nothing is "stretched" on main screen where you can scroll thru the show in your queue.
Is this a Netflix issue or can I change the aspect ratio via the remote when viewing Netflix?
Last night’s Top Moments were all about the pipe—the Men’s Snowboard Halfpipe competition, that is. The highly-anticipated event ended in disappointment for Team USA’s Shaun White: After foregoing his spot in the Snowboard Men’s Slopestyle in order to focus on the quest of a Gold hat trick in the Snowboard Men’s Halfpipe, White suffered a disappointing loss to Russian-born Iouri Podladtchikov, a/k/a/ “I-Pod.” White had scored a 95.75 with a fabulous second qualifying run, but in the finals he struggled on a slushy halfpipe, ultimately yielding Gold to I-Pod and Continue Reading

While TiVo’s US retail operation hasn’t fared so well in recent years, Virgin Media has seen great success from the TiVo platform in the UK… having just crossed the 2 million customer mark after about three years of availability. Virgin’s experience is largely TiVo as we know it, yet the 3-tuner hardware is foreign to […]

Sorry if this has been already answered elsewhere! Is there a specific key/button combination to restore whatever is in the PIP screen? If I'm viewing a recorded show and press the Tivo button, I get the PIP, and can view my recording list, do searches, etc., but I can't get back to the recorded show (that is, dismiss the PIP) with only one key/button press as far as I've been able to discover. If I'm watching a live show and bring up the PIP, just pressing the "live tv" button dismisses the PIP, and I'm back to a full screen live program. I hope I've explained my question satisfactorily.
I usually use the jmfs ISO inside a VM under either VMware Fusion on a Mac or VMware Workstation on a PC to image larger hard drives to put into my TiVo Premiere. I usually have the two hard drives hooked up via SATA/USB adapters and sitting on my desk.
My original TiVo 320GB disk is over 4 years old, and although it works fine for now I know it will eventually fail due to a mechanical issue. Is there any way to create an image of the disk in vmdk format that I can keep somewhere else? That way I can mount that instead of searching for my original HD.

Ok, I need to use pytivo to transfer closed captions back to my TiVo-- this seems ridiculous but is apparently true. Pytivo is incredibly complicated to install and use. I may have installed it, but I have no idea how to configure or use it. What's a share? Can anyone point me to a relatively user friendly guide? thanks, and why can't TiVo to go just transfer the captions back? it's really easy to use
I set up my TiVo for streaming in the app on Sunday with my new Roamio and tested it out while away later that day and it worked. Now tonight while away from home I'm getting this error message. I'm able to connect to my home network in other ways so I know the network isn't down. Is anyone else experiencing it or has experienced similar and knows why?
What would you say is the best UPS system for the Roamio PRO? I looked at weaknees and they recommend this unit: http://www.weaknees.com/protect.php
Is that a good unit? I don't want anything too expensive, but I want to stop TiVo from losing power and having to reboot (down here we lose power very, very often... too much ocean and sunshine I guess  )
While watching live tv, I used to use this button (photo 1) to skip back to the beginning of what ever was in the buffer (photo 2).
Now, I can't get that to happen :( I went into settings and tried setting up the advance/replay options both ways.. but it still doesn't work.
What am I doing wrong? How do I get back to the beginning of the buffer while watching live tv?
Really would like Android support for Stream....
I've had my Roamio for a week, and I just noticed that the full width of the front panel forms the smiling TiVo mascot face when the green power & red record lights are on. Do you see it, or is it my imagination? I wonder whether the TiVo designers did it on purpose.
Heat wave—literally and figuratively! Temperatures in the 60s caused dangerously soft snow on the Sochi slopes, but that didn’t stop the top athletes skiing their way to the five most-watched moments from NBC’s Monday night coverage of the 22nd Winter Olympics. Top male and female Alpine skiers tore through one of the hardest courses in downhill history. The course heartbreakingly conquered some, while others conquered it in these breathtaking five Top Moments. Top Moment #1 was a dangerous and scary full speed crash in the Downhill portion of the Women’s Continue Reading

The ability to watch content from my Roamio Pro on my iPad when I'm traveling is great. It'd be even better if, when I'm a hotel room for example, I could cast from my iPad to my Chromecast dongle plugged into the hotel room TV.
Is that possible?
If not, is there some other way to achieve the same thing (watching my Roamio content on my hotel room TV)?
Im using a Tivo Slide Pro with my Roamio and a new Sony receiver. Ive got it paired fine to the Sony but the range is very short and wont work with the cabinet door closed. I asked the installer if he could get the volume working with more range. He said the Roamio does not have an IR out that could be used as a blaster to connect to the Sony receiver. Hes saying he needs to add an IR receiver to the Sony to get this working.
Is this correct?
Several months ago, I got a used Tivo HD 652160 from a friend. I hooked it up and used it briefly. It appeared to work fine, but then I simply stored it away (since the account was basically closed and it didn't have lifetime). I was going to essentially use it for parts for another 652160 lifetime if needed.
I recently pulled it out again and booted it up. Initially, it booted up fine, but then I moved it into another room and it hung up during the reboot. I unplugged it and plugged back in. It then apparently rebooted 3 times on the 'Welcome, Powering Up' screen, but after the 3rd reboot, it did make it to the "Almost there" screen, but only briefly where it then rebooted.
Judging from what I have read here, I figured this was probably the hard drive (since it did get past the 'Welcome, powering up' screen). I therefore pulled the top off. I couldn't see any buldging caps on the power supply, but I did notice that the hard drive is some sort of WD "Green" drive so its obviously not its original hard drive.
It made me think two things are possibly going on here:
A) "intellipark" is not properly disabled on this drive and I need to run wdidle3 on it.
B) The drive is going bad.
In either case, I am gonna pull the drive and put it in a desktop where I will then run a FULL WD diagnostic to see if it returns any errors. If no errors are reported, then I am gonna try to run wdidle3 on it. If errors are reported, I have a spare 250GB drive I can use (with a WinMFS image)
Does this sound about right for how I should approach this? Or is it most likely going to be a drive problem and "intellipark" doesn't behave this way?
By way of Gigaom, we learn that Hulu is launching The Doozers this spring. The computer-animated series, consisting of 52 11-minute episodes, is aimed at preschoolers… and is sadly puppet-free. Of course, Fraggle Rock was a Jim Henson creation and one of HBO’s very first original titles debuting way back in 1983 — and a show […]

I'm trying to set up the volume control for my Marantz receiver to work with my Tivo remote but I'm having difficulty. I have a Marantz NR1501 and have entered all the codes provided by Tivo.
The remote is for the Tivo Roamio that I just purchased. I have a Tivo premier and the remote for that is programmed to work with my receiver but I can't get my new remote to pair.
There are videos like "Julie Chu's Favorite Video" that seem to be sponsored by companies. They lag menu navigation while they load. How do I get rid of this?
