I did a search on this topic, but all the threads are pretty old. Here is my problem.
I am trying to install Tivo Desktop on my Mac OS X 10.6.8. There are two options for installing based on your OS and version. One is for Mac OS X v10.3.9 to 10.5.x and the other is for Mac OS X v10.6 and later. I chose the latter since I have OS X 10.6.8, though I don't have Snow Leopard. (Later I did try the earlier version, but I get that error message that says it can't find index 19.)
With what I think is the correct version of the program, I installed it following the directions on the Tivo website. The directions say that during the installation process, the installer will ask me to enter my Media Access Key. This NEVER happens. It goes through the entire installation, and tells me the installation is complete, but I never entered my MAK.
When trying to uninstall, I tried to find the all the files listed on the Tivo website instruction page, but my PreferenesPane folder is completely empty. This is where I was expecting to find the Tivo Desktop software.
I have uninstalled, restarted my computer, reinstalled, restarted my computer many times, and I cannot ever get it to work. I can't even get it to install correctly since I am never asked for the MAK and I don't see any files listed in my PreferencesPane folder.
Sorry for the super long post, but I am trying to be as detailed as possible.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Every time I try to reorder my season passes using the TiVo app I get a Connection Error message. This happens with iPhone, iPad, and ipad2. It happens everywhere in the house (near the TiVo, near the router, etc). Other parts of the app seem to work.
Any suggestions? I am using a D-link DIR-65 and wifi
Just performed the software update on my TiVo premiere boxes, now I get annoying TiVo sound effect when changing channels. Any way to turn this off? If not, I suggest TiVo remove this "enhancement" ASAP. Not necessary to hear the sound effect on every channel change and very annoying.
This to me is a bug, when watching the local news at 5 I am about 15 minutes behind. I have the national news set to record at 5:30 on the same chanel. I used to be able to finish watching the local news even though the national news started recording. Now I lose the buffer on live tv and have to go to the national news as its recording.I have a Premier all stock, just an extender attached.
This happened after the software upgrade.
What is with these long ep titles? Did anyone else get a "Help me, Obiwan" vibe from the Holo-ansa ® scene?
Why did Walter make the jump to pocket space so convoluted? "Stand with back against door, walk 7 paces toward opposite wall, turn left 45, enter" Bada bing, bada bang. Done.
What do we call Pacey's new fighting tech upgrade - Quantum-pulse jump? Observer two-step? Travel without movement? Anyone?
Multiple dimensions are fun.
New reality show on Bravo. My guess is no one is watching it. Randi Zuckerberg (Mark's sister) is executive producer. The cast is of course good looking 20 somethings which a few have some past history with each other. This show seems to focus more on the MTV Real World/Jersey shore style than a show about Silicon Valley. Heck, I bet most was filmed in Southern California with only B-Roll from the Valley. With all that said though I am watching the next episode. :D Anyone else catch it?
So . . . the narrative tension in this episode comes from the race to uncover the truth before an innocent (sort of) man is executed.
The only problems are that (1) in Oregon, the only two people to have been executed since 1976 were ones who "volunteered" by waiving their remaining appeals; and (2) Governor Kitzhaber has issued a moratorium on all executions during his term of office.
I know this is kind of nitpicking, but the show makes a big point about being set in Portland, Oregon . . . .
Am I the only one cynical enough to think that tonight's episode was a product placement ad for the board game? Only about 6 weeks till Christmas, so the timing might be right if they were wanting to perk up interest before people went shopping.
Had to put my disconnect from reality hat on again. Crew on sub incapacitated for eight hours, especially in the Engineering spaces. I don't think so. I'm not 100% certain on submarines, but the Reactor on Nimitz class carriers would more and likely trip due to lack of make up water.
Just upgraded to XL4 from Series 3. Old unit would announce a channel change when it wanted to record something and give you the opportunity to cancel it. XL4 just changes the channel without warning. Was just watching live TV and it lit up the 4th red lamp to record a TiVo suggestion a few minutes ago and changed the channel on me. Very annoying as I missed a big reveal on the show I was watching before I was able to get back to the channel I was watching.
Any way to turn that old feature back on?
To give some background, I want to get a network attached storage device to store TiVo videos, but I haven't had time to do it yet, but meanwhile, my wife's TiVos have run out of space, and she's losing shows, and she's pressuring me to give her a way of offloading shows from her TiVos ASAP.
As a short term solution, I installed pyTiVo on her Windows 7 laptop, which has a 500GB drive on it, so I figured it could store a fair amount of stuff if it needs to.
It's connect to my wifi network wirelessly though, so I'm guessing that's going to cause some slow transfer speeds, but maybe that would be okay for the short term.
The other thing is that all 4 Tivos in our house are connected wirelessly as well, because our 1988 house does not contain any kind of ethernet network. My plan though is to put some kind of network attached storage in my study next to my router, so at least that will have a wired connection. (I have no experience with networked attached storage by the way, so that will be a learning experience by itself - I hope it won't require expertise beyond what I possess.)
Anyway, I successfully transferred a show from my TiVo Premier to my PC, but I can't seem to transfer from PC to a TiVo. I wanted to try such a transfer so that I could try to play the video on the other Tivo as a way of proving the transfer really worked.
I first tried to transfer to my TiVoHD. I see the computer icon in Now Playing and the video. When I try to transfer, it says it's scheduled on the To Do List to transfer, and will transfer when the current transfers are finished. But I have no current transfer, so it won't transfer.
I then went to my wife's two series 2 TiVos. I do see the computer icon on those two as well, and when I try to transfer it tells me it won't, and that I should look at the View History to see why it won't transfer. I look, and it says "Transfer Error".
By the way, I can see in Windows Explorer that the show is stored on the PC with a .TiVo suffix, which I assume is correct.
I wonder if the first transfer (to the PC) really worked, or if there's something wrong with the file. Is there a way to tell if the file is okay or not? Basically, I'm wondering how to troubleshoot my problems.
got a new premiere xl4. worked fine for 2 weeks. after the fall update i am now plagued with ertors that say there is a problem with the signal on this channel. it does it on all channels including non-sdv channels. the tuning adapter reports 90+ strength and no corrections and signal lock. only a reboot of the tivo will fix the problem. any ideas?
My units have started rebooting everyday at the same time, One is rebooting at 12:55pm and another is rebooting at 7:55pm eastern, both are 6.4, has been happening 2 days in a row now another rebooted at 5:55pm, Anybody else start seeing this since 11/7/12 ?
The network is looking to shake things up by shifting the action drama back to its old Friday 8 PM berth. According to advance TV listings, Nikitas first airing in the new (old) 8 PM slot will be on November 30.
After a mere two years, the TiVo Slide QWERTY remote is on the way out. I’ve been quite fond of this stubby little fellow, despite its high price ($90) at launch, and it’s arguably TiVo’s finest accessory prior to the Stream. Not that they’ve produced many non-DVR products over the years. My knee jerk reaction was [...]
We're considering offering on a house in the Tuscany subdivision in Cypress. But I can't find a website or anything for the subdivision/HOA. I'd like to try to find out what amenities are available and stuff like that. If anyone has any info, I'd appreciate it!
So now we know that the SEALs killed someone in Pakistan. I don't know why that would then warrant the US nuking the country. I'd think that killing someone would make such a measure less necessary.
We also know that when Chaplin told the SecDef that the SEALs were still alive, that triggered all kinds of alarms in D.C. Hopefully the broken-arm guy will live so they can interrogate him.
I'm still a little baffled that there hasn't been more fallout from the Admiral shooting the WH aide. And I'm extremely baffled as to what the creators have in mind as a long-term plot for the show. We saw in this episode that the locals are starting to get restless because they're running out of supplies. There's no way Chaplin can keep the blockade in place forever, and it just doesn't make sense for the crew of a US nuclear sub to take up permanent residence on some tropical island. So I have no idea where this whole thing is going. I'm most interested in the Autumn Reeser character trying to figure out the conspiracy in DC, yet they didn't even touch on that in this episode, so I wonder if that's not going to be a major plot point.
Hello everyone. Although this is my first post as a new member, I have followed your forum now for a few years. Been very grateful for the wealth of knowledge on here.
That being said, I was hoping to revisit the HDVR2 tuner 2 pixelization issue. I have a SDDVR-80 that has provided many years of faithful service. Like others, it developed the tuner 2 issue a while back. Disconnecting s-video and replacing/adding the power supply capacitors helped, but the problem persists. It's bad enough now that a few channels will cause a restart. I am aware of the option to add a capacitor to the motherboard, but am hesitant to do so. Besides not being confident in my soldering skills, I'm afraid it might eventually cause other damage if the underlying defect (likely the power supply) is not fixed as well.
This leads to my questions:
First, has anyone tried replacing all of the capacitors on the power supply to see if that will fix the problem instead of just the two mentioned in the instructables article?
Does the tuner 2 problem only effect series 2 units? I.E. if I were to switch to an HR10-250 or an R10 will I be ok? (I have both of those as spares)
Has anyone measured the voltages on the ribbon cable of a known good power supply (or off a repair manual) to see if we could adapt a PC power supply to replace the aging original units? I realize it won't fit in the case, but at this point I wouldn't care.
Thanks in advance for any input or advise.
I did a serach and didn't really see anything on this. I'm thinking about upgrading to Windows 8 and was just wondering if anyone had actually installed Tivo-to-Go on it?
I know it's not officially supported yet, just wondering if it worked anyway.
I'm a relatively new user of TiVo, and despite the poor response of apps like HuluPlus, I'm enjoying the experience - with exception of those inserted 'ads'. I want to tell someone I don't need 70 free digital magazine subscriptions; nor do I want some extra tough Bounty paper towels. These are most irritating when I go to delete something after watching a show, and the ad inserts itself into the navigation screen. The screen jumps and I sometimes select the ad by accident - or maybe that's the whole idea?
I doubt there is, but a lot of people here have hidden shortcuts/key sequences to turn things on or off. Is there any way to turn these annoying ads off?
I think they are particularly tacky when I'm already paying for a monthly service - they'd be more understandable if there was no subscription for TiVo service.
