I know this is a fairly common topic here but I just didn't know which topic I should possibly piggyback off of so I just started a new one. If there is a specific topic that a mod feels this belongs in feel free to merge it with that one.
So a few weeks ago I started noticing one of my S3's started rebooting daily. Having changed out a bad power supply on another one my first thought was to see if this one was going bad. I take it apart and blow out all the dust and check out the caps. Visually they look fine. No bulges, leaking or anything, not even the slightest bit. I put it all back together and think maybe it was just all the dust(it was pretty loaded with it) and carry on. All is good for the day and I watch a good 6 hours of programming with no hiccups or anything.
Now here's where I start to wonder. The next morning I notice it's around 6am and I see the S3 reboot as all the lights on the display are on. A few minutes later and I see the clock. I switch over and see it sitting on an HD channel. I decide to put the box on a few SD channels and let it go. I move a few menus around so they're not at the default "top" spot and then leave for the day. I get home and check the box and everything is still as it was when I left it other than the channels as it recorded a few shows in prime time. I spend some time watching them and again no issues with the recordings. No pauses, stuttering, etc which wouldn't make me think I have a bad drive. I go to bed and again the next morning it's around 6am again and the box once again reboots. After it's up and running I check the channels and once again it's on HD channels. This repeats for a few days.
Time for more simple troubleshooting I figure. I move almost all season passes that are for HD channels to another box and delete them from this one. Now it's only recording a single HD show(which I couldn't move due to multiple tuner conflicts but doesn't record for a few days out so I figure I can still test) and a few SD shows. I put the box on SD channels once again and leave it alone. No recordings scheduled on the box for this day/night. The box stays on SD channels. Once again all is good until the next morning. Around 6:30 it reboots yet again. It seems that something is triggering a reboot in the mornings as they always seem to happen between 6-7am and it's not related to the HD channels which I was thinking prior.
Now this morning I had what I thought was the bad drive signal because it started to reboot loop. It would get to the "almost there" screen and right as that was going away I was back at "welcome" again. However after 3 times of doing this it started up like normal and has been fine since. Again, no menu issues, no stuttering, etc.
So where would be a good place to start with this? Should I run a specific Kickstart? Could the power supply still be bad despite visually looking fine? On the box that has the replaced PS the caps were visually swollen on the tops which is why I ask. Can you actually have a bad drive even with no pausing/stuttering issues? I ask because in the dozen or so boxes I've had through the years every bad drive I'd encountered had those symptoms so I just never experienced anything but those. Can it be some weird cable card thing? Whenever I check the signal levels on the box they're never really low(most are in the 80-90's range with the remainder being 60-70's) so I'm a bit lost on what to look for. What would cause the box to reboot every morning at around the same time? Is that just a big coincidence?
Sorry about the length of this along with the mass amount of questions at the end. I'm just trying to think of anything and everything. And just to add since I didn't mention it above, the drive is an upgraded 1TB drive. No eSATA connected drive. The box is also plugged into a UPS.
I'm babysitting my nephew at my parents' house which is in the same part of town. They have cable, but no premium stations, so can I being my tivo over to their house for the night so I can watch channels they don't get? If this is a legal matter, then I won't don't it, but am still curious if it is technically possible...
I would like to see redbox and NBA apps added to the tivo . Has anyone heard anything new in regards to adding both of these services? I think verizon is trying to add redbox to more devices and i would really like to see these added soon to the tivos!

Has anyone set up a VPN to connect their TiVo to mini's farther away, such as connecting their house to a summer home or cabin? I was reading a few other threads, but didn't see any success stories.
Tivo just did a service connection and announced Fios The addition of channel 108 (Fusion) and 731 (AMCPHD). Apparently the intent is to change the ABC channel on 108 to Fusion and change the AMC channel on 731 to a Pacific feed (hence AMCPHD). However, in the guide and channel list, there are now two channel 108s (ABC is still on) and both AMC and AMCPHD which occupy channel 731. AMC is still being broadcast but my season pass for Walking Dead is missing. AMCPHD has "I Am Legend" (a movie) ticked as a season pass and Walking Dead is not. I can toggle both channels and both are sending out the AMC feed.
So, it looks like the new channels were added but the old ones were not deleted and all are still broadcasting the original feed. I tried to schedule a season pass for Walking Dead on AMCPHD but it says I already have one.
Holy Jimmy H. Hobbs and Company, the glitches and hiccups seem to be getting worse and not better. Now, I have a wacky guide, Netflix rebooting whenever it feels like it (it prefers to do so in the middle of multiple recordings) and the "now you see it now you don't" Netflix profiles.
Just a few short days ago, with the cable card fiasco behind me, I was excited about my new Roamio. Now not so much.
My apologies if this has been asked and answered. I gave up my Tivo 3 yrs ago. I just could not deal with the constant pixelation due to the overdriven signal. Tried every attenuator known to man. I even had help from the Fios tech who spent more than 2 hrs at my house one day. As crappy as the Fios Motorola box is it will put up with way too much signal and way too little signal unlike the Tivo. Is the Roamio better and is anyone having these issues with it.
So I finally bought a Roamio Pro and 3 Minis, to replace the S2, S3,and S4 in my house, and give the one TV that uses a cable box only (shudder!) TiVo capabilities. I plan on pulling the Cablecard-M out of the Premiere and using it in the Roamio. I also want to move the season passes and most of the shows form the current TiVos onto the new Roamio. What is the proper sequence to do the following?:
Hook up Roamio to Network and cable
Activate new Roamio on TiVo.com
Perform initial setup/update guide
Transfer season passes
Move Cablecard from S4 to Roamio
Re-pair CC to new Roamio (take large drink of scotch before dealing with Comcast)
Reformat S4 (to sell on ebay)
Reformat S2 and S3
Is the the right order? Did I miss any steps?
Title hopefully says it all. On ATV and PS3 when I hit the Stop button on my universal remote, the recording stops and I am returned to this Netflix menu screen for that show or episode. I can then navigate to another episode.
Watching NFLX on the TiVo doesn't seem to behave that way. I've had to hit the TiVo or List button to essentially quit TiVo, then log back in, which takes me to the Netflix menus.

Just received new hd channels last week but no guide info. I contacted tivo and reported same. Does anyone know how long it takes to be corrected ? Thanks.
I have tried using both regular download and java and each time, when I try and pull something off of my Tivo that is longer than 2 hours in length, it stops at some point, decrypts, and that's it. Yes, I have enough room on my hard drive for the entire recording. If a show is less than 2 hours long, no issue.
Has anyone experienced this? Is Kmtgg only capable of a certain amount of GB to pull or something else going on?
Any help would be appreciated.
I have a Tivo Mini connected to a Premiere 4 using MoCA and Time Warner Cable with a tuning adapter. All channels work fine on the Premiere. However, some channels that work on the Premiere do not work on the Mini. The Mini will display a black screen with a V52 error.
I've tried rebooting all of the devices, reconnecting the cables and replacing the tuning adapter. CableCard diagnostics all pass and I had Time Warner reactivate the equipment. I forced the Premiere to use the 4th tuner on a channel that does not work on the Mini, and the Premiere recorded the channel correctly.
Anyone have any ideas? I've had a ticket open with Tivo level 3 tech support for weeks.
I just picked up a couple of MoCA adapters to replace my wireless (G) and I have to say I'm not impressed. It seems like there isn't much benefit unless the signal was really spotty to begin with. I did a transfer test with wireless vs moca and got these numbers:
Wireless : outgoing (pull from HD to Premier) = 15.17
MoCA : outgoing (pull from HD to Premier) = 11.91
Please tell me I didn't just drop $100 on a bunch of MoCa gear to get worse performance. I have the Actiontech adapter from tivo.com at the router and I bought a channel-master 4-port bridge+hub for the TiVoHD side (obviously using the Premiere's built-in bridge).

I just ordered a Tivo Roamio plus and I was wanting to sell my premier xl I've had for 2 years it has 2 tuners and most importantly it has the lifetime service with it I have a remote for it and a Tivo stream I'd like to sell with it that I got a year ago and a wireless g USB network adapter that I've had for a while and I was wondering where is the best place to try to sell it and how much you think I should ask for it?
We are considering dumping the cable DVR and going to Tivo with a mini for the bedroom.
We have a couple of questions for you Tivo owners.
We are looking at either a Roamio Plus or Pro.
My question is on the tivo service. Do you recommend buying the lifetime service or the monthly? If you do purchase one year of service and then later decide to switch to lifetime do you get any kind of credit or discount? Also I believe the mini requires a service contract? Same question on that?
This will be our 1st experience with tivo so any thoughts or suggestion would be appreciated.

I have had a premiere for about a year and it always has a bunch of recordings lined up for me to watch.
I have finally started to handle my video recordings the way I have treated books and NETFLIX for many years. If it doesn't grab me as REALLY good in the first minute or two, I delete it. Amazing how much time this has freed up.
You won't live long enough to go through all of the great books, great movies, and good TV so don't waste your time on the mediocre.

OK this has happened 3 times in the last couple days so I assume it's a bug with a recent revision?
While watching a program from my NOW PLAYING list and also displaying the guide, my Tivo HD has kicked me out of what I was playing and returned me to live TV(with the guide screen still up). When I dismiss the guide and go back into my NOW PLAYING list and bring up the program I was watching it starts from the beginning(no option to RESUME play). All I can think of is Tivo had some kind of version download and it has a bug....kind of a bummer as I frequently bring up the guide while playing a program and now I have to go back into it and scan to get to the point I was before getting kicked out.
Anyone else have this problem?
