I've had my Roamio for roughly 48 hours. Tonight I come home and go to the Roamio to make sure Revolution had been recorded. I first notice the red circle was illuminated, which was strange considering Revolution had been over for more than an hour. Fire up the TiVo and confirmed my show was there. I explore a little further and discover the TiVo is recording not one but two movies, The Departed and Indiana Jones. What's up with that? No one in the house programmed the recordings. Is there some setting I need to change to prevent this from occurring? Anyone else experience this? Thanks for any insight.
Well heck, I didn't want to see either Cliff or LJ go. I thought for sure when LJ didn't get the idol out that he was going home with it in his pocket. Balls of steel, and no one knows he's got it or even suspects as far as I can tell.
Having a guy the size of Cliff really changes the equation on some challenges, like the reward challenge today. There's no way any pair from the other team was getting him back first. Also, in the immunity challenge, the guy from the brain tribe was instrumental in the win. Smart move by the girls to keep him even with the merge.
I like the shake-up. It ought to be a good run to the final merge.
I have a tivo premiere4, and last night thru this morning - for a glorious and wonderful few hours, somehow the old netflix ui came back.
The new, unusably slow one that can barely run on the anemic premiere4 was gone, and the old netflix (complete with the removed-by-the-biggest-idiot-in-history play from beginning button!) was magically back.
Was this a fluke? Is there a way to make it happen again? And/or forever? Did anyone else have it show up?
Verizon hasn’t been out of the home automation business for long, but it looks like the telco giant is already preparing to jump back in. According to FCC documents uncovered by Steve Donahue of FierceCable, Verizon appears to be preparing to launch a new FiOS gateway with an associated Zigbee home automation module. The FiOS […]

About a month ago I started having problems downloading from Amazon with my Series 3, but at about the same time I was having hard drive problems so didn't think much of it.
But now with a new Roamio, I am still having the same problem. I have linked/unlinked/re-linked the new Tivo to Amazon's website and went through all the troubleshooting steps I can find on Tivo/Amazon's websites, but still nothing.
I did replace my DSL modem about a month ago, but am almost certain I was able to download one movie prior to having this problem.
Any suggestions on what to look at?
My Series 3 died so just purchased a new Roamio. I can not get the Roamio remote to operate my JVC TV - tried all five codes and cycled/scanned through all the rest.
Odd thing is my Series 3 remote worked fine, and still does, and thankfully operates the Roamio just fine. In looking at the two remotes, the only differences I see is the A, B, C and D buttons, Back and Zoom, which at this point I don't know what they do.
Any ideas on how I can get the Roamio remote to work with this JVC TV? Does the Series 3 remote provide any clues on what the code may be?
The official roll-out is tomorrow, but it started appearing on some systems in NJ and CT already. This weekend is a free preview, and then it's available to Sport package/ iO Gold subs. My Tivo already updated the channel mappings according the the message center.
I know the amount of people who will enjoy this channel might be limited, since it is predominantly soccer/rugby, but I hope at least some of you enjoy it! I know I will :)
After what seems like a million years, Sonos has begun to refresh their app interfaces with something a bit more modern (and flat). Along with the updated visuals, organization is vastly different as well. And, having only spent a day with the beta Android app, I’m not quite ready to pass judgement. The app opens […]

As the story goes, D-Link demonstrated a variety of home automation products under NDA at CES. While we weren’t privy to those talks, all sorts of goodies have starting springing up on government and publisher product databases as the company attempts to one up Belkin’s WeMo line. And next in line for its close up is […]

This all started about 3 weeks ago.
1. The box would sometimes flash all the lights and just continually flash them then the picture would go black. The only way to resolve this would be a unplug and replug of the box.
2. Another thing it does is shows the live tv preview in the top right but complete blackness on the rest of the screen, no tivo central, show listings etc. Again unplugging and replugging box worked or sometimes pressing the live TV button a million times.
3. Sometimes the buttons on the remote just stop responding to the box. The yellow light on the remote will flash when something is pressed but the box itself will just not have any response at all.
4. Multiple recordings have not been recorded because of power lost.
I called them and they blamed the cable signal which was at 45% the cable guy came switch the splitter and now the signal is at 90%. Issues 1 and 4 seemed to have gone away since the signal fix, but 2 and 3 are still there. My friend who has the same premiere model said his tivo also does issue 2 and 3. Is this a software problem or is the box dying? I have an offer to get the roamio basic model for $100 which is a good deal, but I only really wanted to do that if this box is toast and is in fact dying, however, since my friends box also has issue 2 and 3 I am wondering if it is a wide spread problem.
My new Roamio Plus experience is driving me crazy.
First unit had to be returned to Tivo after a possible bad M cable card installation froze it up to where it wouldn't finish a reboot.
After getting my new replacement unit and contacting my cable provider twice complaining that my TV Guide Channels are totally wrong they tell me it is a Tivo problem.
Cable One, Biloxi/Ocean Springs, MS 39565
M Card: 514517-017-00
First 3 channels shown are 29, 88, 91 then jumps to 300 + and most are unavailable.
So I just got my new roamio today and got it all set up. Everything is working great except the fact that I can't stream shows from either of the premieres to it. I get the error message that says something like can't access bedroom dvr due to network error. The thing is, is that I can access recordings and transfer them between the two premiere boxes just not wth the roamio.
I checked and they all have the same media access key. I've also rebooted my router and I have rebooted all three tivo boxes and it still doesn't work. And just an FYI I have them networked together with Ethernet cables.
I'm considering getting a TiVo Roamio to replace my EyeTV DVR, as Time Warner Cable just encrypted all their clear QAM channels -- i.e. the stuff also available over the air: HD versions of CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, etc.
My question is, does TWC set flags for the above channels to "copy freely" in New York City (Manhattan)?
We have 3 mini's and two are in kids rooms. Is there an easy why to tell if any mini is using a tuner? I have a Roamio pro if that matters.
I am awaiting my Roamio Pro and 3 Minis to be delivered tomorrow. :D
I have used my faithful Series 3 (OLED) upgraded w/2TB drive for the past 7 years (OK, first u/p was to 1TB).
I have 112 Season Passes as I never delete them, just relegate to the bottom, just in case. Some are currently set to record "All" but after having deleted mos episodes the S3 correctly does not re-record an episode deleted in the past.
1) Will the new Roamio go after all the episodes of any given season pass in with that recordings setting or will the deleted episode list also be transferred?
2) When grouped episodes recordings are transferred from the S3 to the roamio with the season pass re-record that episode?
ps., yeah just being lazy and could set all 112 season passes to "new" but occasionally an episode of Mythbusters, Diners Driveins and Dives Deadliest Catch and some other old episodes of shows do pop-up having never recorded them before!
Well, that sure was an action packed episode!
The one thing I can't remember is how did Red come to know the black guy in the cowboy hat?
My only beef was there were a few "seriously?" moments that always nag at me, like when main characters hubby tells the spy girl to call his wife. Based on what Cowboy dude said, no way in HECK I'd turn my back on the dude like she did. That and the Cowboy dudes attempt to capture that girl for Red, I mean really, he didn't think he'd get noticed?
Other than that, I'm liking the new twists and turns they are offering up so far.
Has anyone cloned their Roamio drive for the sake of backing up the drive so that it can be reimaged back to the same exact model drive should the orginal drive go bad? Clonzilla comes to mind as I have used that to copy complete drives but shouldn't that work as long as it's a sector copy image instead of a cloning application attempting to read the partitions?
The down side of such in theory is that if making a exact sector based drive backup, it could take 3Tb of storage to save a 3Tb Roamio drive unless compression can be used?
I recently used Clonzilla to backup a laptop drive as I needed to reload the OS and didn't want to lose the factory OEM restore partition which worked perfectly as the restored image and it some how though, it expanded the primary OS partition to the full capacity of the new drive (old drive was 500gb and the new drive was 1tb), I anticipated I would expand the main Win 7 partion which originally was just a little over 420gb to what was available on the new 1tb drive but apparently Clonzilla read the ntfs partions and did the expansion automatically when it wrote the image.
I digress in describing my laptop drive success however it lead me to believe that while Clonzilla did a disk image backup, it wasn't technically a disk sector image backup but rather read the partition data and combined that into a whole disk image backup. IF Clonzilla isn't a disk sector backup solution, does anyone have an idea of what I might try to do this?
Is it just me or is anyone else having a problem of deciding what to watch and being terrible behind watching what is recorded on your Roamio?
In the past it was always a restriction that with only so much storage space I kept my recordings controlled and was able to keep up with watching Tivo. Now I'm only getting behind watching recorded shows and don't have enough time to watch everything, 3Tb is a lot of storage!
At this point I really would like profiles, it would be much easier to short though my shows with what the wife records. Next month it will get worse as my son will be losing his Tivo as it will be replaced with a Mini.
My growing concern is that I have no backup of my Roamio hard drive, esp the copy once flagged content.
My Roamio remote's battery cover is missing. I am pretty sure that my 2 year old hid it somewhere. Hopefully he chose to hide it a boot instead of in the garbage can. Either way, I chatted with Tivo customer service who suggested I just buy a new remote. Anyone have any better ideas than just using a piece of tape?
