I'm a long time Howard Stern radio listener on XM and this past year specifically got my 1st Comcast Cable Box in my house to access Howard Stern TV on Demand, I could not access it on a Tivo with Cable Cards.
Recently in September, they stopped airing new shows, and I am unclear moving forward if any new material will be added; in fact Comcast removed the $10 charge for Howard TV on Demand. Anyone have any insight if this is coming back or should I return my HD Comcast box?
Between insane weather on the way out and animals gone wild upon return, it was “Man Against Nature” for CES 2014. Despite claims of 2013 being a lost year in tech and others suggesting CES was quiet, the trend is quite clear — what we’re seeing is a fragmented state of massive transition, and we’re [...]

I had thought Tivotogo now transferred closed captions, but now I'm wondering if I'm wrong; can someone enlighten me? thanks
I don't know anything about this show, but it's got Ronald D. Moore attached, so that's enough to make me want to watch it. :)
I've seen a lot of posts here referencing MOCA speeds but I've not seen exactly how this is accomplished.
I've got a Roamio Plus with 2 minis on MOCA (using Roamio's internal MOCA).
How can I test my MOCA speeds from a mini?
A couple of basic questions about video format settings please.
My Roamio is connected to a Sony that handles all video formats through 1080P. I do not use any streaming services (at this time) - just HD & SD broadcasts from Cablevision.
1) Am I correct that I just want to set the video format to 1080P only and let the tivo scale as needed? Is there any advantage or disadvantage to setting it to 1080p vs 1080i ?
2) Neither my Premier Elite nor the Roamio seem to have settings for "Native", "Hybrid" or "Fixed" under the video settings, but the tivo website says they should be there (at least for the Premier). Am I missing something?
First, let me start off by saying that TiVo has stepped it up with the streaming feature, especially the fact that you can download to the mobile device. I work in Angola, Africa with poor internet connectivity, so loading up my iPad before travel was quite awesome. (Note: My Slingbox has been sold on eBay because it was worthless in Angola)
That said, there is a small problem. I'm using the new Roamio Pro and over half of the shows that I downloaded to my iPad have come across as blank (zero time), had errors (won't play), or hang before the end of the show. Is this a known issue that is being worked?
... re-downloading the shows from Angola is possible, but takes about 3 hours for a 30 minute show. It is especially frustrating when one of the 3 hour downloads ends up to be corrupted.
Any update on the Android app that will work with Stream?
I got a flyer from DirecTV yesterday that I could get Cinemax and Starz for 3 months for the price of one. I was curious when the second season of Banshee started and was surprised to find it was in 2 days!! So, I got Cinemax hooked up and am ready.
I'm looking forward to the second season. The first season was crazy and I'm looking forward to more craziness. :) Sadly, I don't really remember how last season ended. I hope they have a good "last season, on Banshee".
I am using a Tivo Premiere behind my dresser in a bedroom in a tower format. I want the unit to sit upright along the back of the wall with LED's facing upward.
Is there a "stand" or some other accessory which would allow me to secure the TiVo in an upright position with the LEDs facing upward. I was thinking of some type of stands but can't seem to find other.
I am also interested in a "Stand" or similar accessory for the tuning adapter.
Was wondering if there were any advice or tips.
Please let me know. Thanks.
Well, I plunked down the off season mlb.tv fee to check out how the tivo mlb.tv app on my roamio works.
The bad news is the audio, which keeps dropping out, about every 10-20 seconds, it drops out for about 1/4 of a second. This is quite annoying.
It appears that the app tries to stay at the highest resolution, and when it's at its highest, the dropouts are at their worst. Sometimes the resolution drops down for a while, and then the audio works better.
I have a pretty good isp connection (1.6 MB/sec) and these dropouts are quite rare when I listen through my computer.
At the least, the app should let me select between hd and sd resolutions, if that would solve the audio problems. Or perhaps the app should buffer more if that's the problem.
The interface is ok, but also has one annoying problem. When I'm seeking to an inning, and say I'm at the 9th inning, then to back out of the app to choose another game, I have to press the remote <- key 10 or 11 times. Why not use the "back" button on my remote to take me to the schedule in one press.
I would prefer to use the tivo over my computer (both connected to my tv) since I like being able to use the remote to pause, which you can't do when running on the computer. So, fix the audio, or let me lower the resolution to fix it, and I'll watch mlb with my tivo. But the sound dropping out is just too annoying.
I enjoyed transferring my shows from my premier 3 to my computer using tivo transfer pc or mac. Since I upgraded to romeo I typed in the media key and I do not see the romeo and I am on the same network on both romeo and computer what is going wrong if the app is unsupported what can I use to replace the ability to transfer from tivo romeo pro to computer?
I just renewed my Rhapsody account after purchasing my base Roamio, I noticed everytime I have a song playing and I either go back a page or forwards, the song will skip. When they had Rhapsody on my Series 3, there never was problems with songs skipping while searching for another song to play.
Here is what Rhapsody CS wrote:
Older devices used WMA RAD file format to stream music. Its an old file format which is now no longer supported. This means some older home audio devices may no longer play Rhapsody music.
In order to fix this issue, you need to contact your device manufacturer and update the firmware of your device. If you are unable to update your device firmware, or the issue is not resolved after updating the firmware, then your device no longer supports Rhapsody.
So, would Tivo be using an old out of date WMA RAD file or is my high speed Cox internet not be fast enough?
I've upgraded from an HD to a Premier.
My TV is an old Sony CRT TV. It's input options are Coax, R/W/Y RCA's, or S-Video. I had my HD connected via the S-Video and the R/W Audio RCA's.
The Premier doesn't have an S-Video output. And I'd rather not have to go back to the single yellow video cable.
Is their a cable that will allow me to go from the Component outputs on the Premier to the S-Video and R/W Audio RCA's on my TV?
If so, I assume that would be better than the single yellow video cable?
Thanks for your help.
Can someone recommend a good one that allows me to preserve subtitles? I don't mind paying; I have the software to take off the Tivo wrapper. Also, I've used Cybermedia but I'm getting little micro stutters. thanks
Since nobody else has started a thread that allows spoilers yet...
It's not bad.
I'll give it a couple more episodes but don't hold a lot of hope for it.
I can imagine that the whole going rogue all the time to find the love of his life could get really old and tiresome very quickly. I don't know him, I certainly don't know her, so I don't give a rat's butt if he finds her.
Was that last scene where the Asian implantee woke up, supposed to take place before or after Gabriel's escape from the operating table?
I can't remember how I set it up initially, but I've received and enjoyed CNET videos for a number of years. Now they no longer show up. A search told me to sign up through "Showcases," I tried that but found only two options. Something called "Killer Woman" and a Bounty paper towel commercial. Do any of you know how/if I can get CNET back?
It’s no surprise TiVo fans love TV, but do they love it enough to watch it for 87 hours straight? This week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas we have three contestants attempting to break the Guinness World Record for binge-viewing! Day one has passed and the contestants are all doing great! Here is a recap of the first 24 hours.
Nice little surprise on my DVR. The new season started last night. :)
Really glad I've stuck with the show. Really funny.
Travis and Laurie together are indeed "Awwwww-yechhhh"
