I have a Tivo HD with a 1TB drive. I have had it for years and just started running into problems with it being slow and Netflix bugging out on it sometimes. So this morning I initiated a kickstart 57 before I left for work. I get home and it is stuck in the infinite Green screen loop. I have been searching and found this is most likely caused by the Swap partition not being large enough for a 1TB drive.
Does anyone know if it is possible to increase the partition size of the swap partition without losing any of my recordings? Or of another way I can break this infinite loop?
I am tempted to try backing up the drive with winmfs, then restoring it but this time increasing the swap partition size. Do you guys think that will work?
I recently divorced an external drive, did a C&D and started from scratch on an S3. It is connected to my network via Ethernet cable. It connects to Tivo fine and pulls an i.p. address. It currently does not have any recordings on it.
When I go to Now Playing it does not see my 2 Roamios, but the Roamios can see it. I have tried both soft and hard resets but no change.
I'd never watched a single episode of this show until last night. It's on Amazon Prime so figured I'd give it a whirl.
Had to be some of the most cringe-worthy bad acting & writing I've ever witnessed. This episode had Mac pulling a "sting" on the bad guy (who wore all white) after he scams all of Mac's friend's money. And they had this blonde chick with Tootsie glasses who had to be one of the worst actresses I've ever seen. And the bad guy kept going along with the scam and believing every word. Never questioning a thing. silly
Anybody here ever watch and like this show?
Overall not a bad episode. Though I agree with my co-worker that the first storm scene looked like something out of a 80s metal music video (didn't I see Tawny Kitaen at the mizzen mast? :) ).
I was also mad at myself for dismissing how much the "runaway Lost Boy" looked just like what I would expect Peter Pan to look like. I watched the hour-long "series recap" show that was aired just before this, and the producers warned us to "forget the Peter Pan you know about, including the peanut butter". :) So when I saw Peter Pan, I thought "that kinda looks like a "Peter Pan", but with the shadow ripper running around we all thought *that* was him (and it still may be?).
Emma jumping in the water and being hit by the only piece of detached-by-lightning debris was also a bit much, but oh well. :)
I did appreciate Neal in the Enchanted Forest, telling Mulan that they made a movie about her, etc. And it was nice to leave Storybrooke behind... how long will that last? Have they cut adrift all of those actors/characters (Granny, Red, Jiminy, dwarves, etc)?
The two things I'm looking forward to are: 1) the explanation of the shadow creature and 2) what Peter Pan wants with Henry. My guess on #2 is that Henry can somehow "fuel" some multi-dimension/world takeover scheme with his "believing" ability.
When i watch netflix, it reboots the tivo occasionally. i never had a premiere, but this has happened 3 times in the last 2 days. i have it hard wired.
I guess this was an issue with the premiere - but i never saw this so much on the XL (Series 3)...
Tivo themselves dont seem to know much about this. Thinking of returning box to BestBUY. Im pretty upset at Tivo for this. Netflix crashing should not cause a full box reboot. This is a pretty crappy app setup.
Setup is a Roamio pro with a mini in the bedroom. Question: If someone is watching live tv on the mini and turns off tv with mini still connected to live tv and leaves the room, what happens if the Roamio needs that tuner? Do I have to be concerned about the mini being connected to live tv?
I have Time Warner Cable (NYC) and it looks like ABC and NBC are blocked so I can't transfer a show from one Tivo to another. CBS seems fine, haven't checked FOX or CW.
Anyone else having this problem? I believe this is illegal--restricting broadcast channels and am looking for help in dealing with the problem.
My TivoHD is showing only gray/white screen output when on live TV. It is not recording anything as well. It's almost like it is not connected to the cable input. But, using Settings>Cable>Signal Strength shows that there is plenty of input strength, typically 95+.
Now Playing is fine, so Tivo does output (HDMI) to the screen.
I've tried a power cycle a couple of times. I've tried pulling and reseating the m-cablecard. My cable line comes in to the house, splits to two. The other line is connected to a same-model TivoHD and it is doing just fine.
Any suggestions to look for in debug??
Great choice of the Nina Simone song "Sinnerman" for the restaurant escape scene. That was used in The Thomas Crown Affair(1999) for one of the "caper" scenes with lots going on, so for me it immediately invoked the feeling that something tricky was going on.
Having Isabella Rossellini as the bad guy was a great choice. I wonder though of Red's immunity agreement was for future crimes as well as past ones. He admitted to hiring an assassin to poison someone. While she turned out to be bad, there doesn't seem to be any repercussions for him.
TiVo was awarded a new Kidszone US Patent today. I wonder if they will bring back this feature in the future.
Techniques described herein enable parents to establish a child-protective "kids zone" on a DVR. According to one technique, a DVR receives, from a parent, identities of content items that the parent does not want children to view. The DVR maps the identities to a kids zone. During times that the DVR is set to operate in the kids zone operational mode, the DVR prevents itself from presenting any content items that are associated with the identities. However, during these times, the DVR still may obtain and store these content items. At other times, during which the DVR is not set to operate in the kids zone operational mode, the DVR may allow itself to present the content items that are associated with the identities, including content items that the DVR obtained and stored during times that the DVR was set to operate in the kids zone operational mode.

my Roamio is connected via its built in wireless to my N home network and shows a 70% signal strength and is updating normally each day. My old Quad premiere elite tivo I call "Quad Elite" is connected to my home network via the wireless N tivo branded ethernet adapter.
In "my shows" on the Quad Elite at the bottom of the list I can see my Roamio and delete programs remotely. lately however on my Roamio, in my shows at the bottom it has an exclamation point to the left of the "Quad Elite" with a message that the "Quad elite cannot be found". it used to be there, just not the past few days. I have rebooted both tivos several times, and made sure on the website under my dvr preferences that "video sharing" and "allow video downloads" are both checked
any thoughts before I call tech support?
I am reading all the threads on the new shows and noticing how many people are just deleting a SP after the pilot - or for some, not even before it ends.
Yes, I was guilty of this last year with Under the Dome and another one that is now a hit. I starting thinking about this and decided to revise my thinking for the fall season. Give it at least 3 episodes...or more even.
Are viewers turning into quick to delete without giving a show a chance to really blossom?
There have also been several shows that I wish HAD gone more than one season. Shows I really enjoyed but am not sure why others didn't - at least enough to have the studios keep them around. And of course there are the shows that I wonder about why they are STILL around.
I am wondering how many shows you gave up on and then they went on to be hits or at least on for a few seasons?
Do you give a show more than just the pilot a chance? Let them develop, grow or change at all?
I'm planning my new home TiVo set-up, and have a networking question. I've looked at other threads, but haven't quite found the answer.
This part seems straightforward... OTA coax directly from antenna to Roamio. Nothing else is on that coax down-lead, just a direct connection. Roamio is then connected to home network via Ethernet hard wire which will connect to two other TiVo Minis. So far, this seems like the proper set-up.
The question I have is in regard to adding a third TiVo Mini in a part of the house that does not have an Ethernet hard wire but does have a coax that is completely isolated from the antenna down-lead coax.
Is it possible (and is this how MoCA works), to connect the home network to a MoCA adaptor (via Ethernet cable) then send the signal to the third Mini via the direct coax cable that goes to that room? Again, the antenna down-lead coax and this MoCA coax connection to the third Mini are in no way connected.
Essentially, in summary: Roamio and two Minis connected to network via Ethernet cable, third Mini connected to network via its own MoCA coax.
Q: Is there any thought to bring the TiVo UI to the Horizon box?
Fries: No, No, No , No. I think the Horizon is much better looking. Much better functional. Its where we want to be as an industry. The way it flows, the way the graphics work through pictures. Its the way were headed. And by the way, that UI exists on the cloud so just last week I saw great demos of Horizon in the cloud so that we can, is just like shooting HTML5 page to the television screen. The same way any web site works. And you can update it and modernize it. That's where we want to be as an industry....
Has anyone tried getting jumbo frames on their Roamio? Sometime in the next couple of days I'll have switches in my home network that all support jumbo frames. I run all my systems on static DHCP leases so I can send a jumbo frame sized MTU along with the lease. I just have no idea if the Roamio will use it or not.
I'm hoping to make my pyTivo transfers run a bit more efficiently if I can get the server and the Roamio talking with jumbo frames.
I have an S3 with an external 1T drive. I want to replace the 1T drive with a 3T drive. I want to transfer all existing programs from the 1T drive to the 3T drive. How to do?
I still use my series 3 HD and receive OTA HD locals. I can't get guide data by cablecard since I don't pay for a cablecard so I find the shows I want on the analog guide data and setup a manual recording on the OTA QAM stations. Does the Roamio have QAM setup also or is my series 3 the last models with it?
I also read a vague description somewhere of people able to buy a cablecard on ebay and be able to sync the OTA QAM guide data with the analog on the tivo so I wouldn't have to do it manually anymore. Any truth to that?
I have never owned a tivo but Im thinking on duing the jump from the cable dvr box, Im interested in the tivo dvr $199, does this tivo allow to download my recordings to my mac? or do I need to purchase anything else?
Thank you in advance!
I don't know what just happened.
Was watching a recording of Totally Biased from FX. Midway through the Tivo switched to some local SD channel and I couldn't do a thing. No button presses did anything. About 2 minutes later the Tivo flipped back to live TV on an HD channel I had been watching and i got back control.
what the heck is going on? Anyone ever had something like this happen? I feel like my XL is getting flakier and flakier. And of course the warranty ran out in May. Never buying lifetime again.
I just discovered my Slingbox HD pro is not working as I am preparing to travel. It is not going to help me this time, but I was thinking about a replacement; would Roamio be able to stream outside of LAN?
Based on the slingbox threads, I am thinking no. If someone figured out a way to route the stream outside of the home, I would like to know.
Since I already have a couple of tablets with Slingbox software, I might just get a Slingbox 350, but I would be willing to get a Roamio if I can stream when I am not home.
