I am having issues for some reason adding some channels to my cable package. I just upgraded services 2 weeks ago no problem but now an additional upgrade is refusing to work. ( I have on demand and everything else working no problem this is strange)
The guy said it could be the splitters etc, which i do have and have never had problems getting signals. So since my splitters are in wall, if I unplugged the roamio and hook it up in another room to try and have a signal sent to the box with no splitters in the way will the tivo boot up and work with no internet?
Right now its hard wired i have the moca all setup running no problems, I dont want to plug the box in and have it ask me to change settings.
Just checked all the Best Buy stores in my area, nobody had any idea what I was talking about. Contacted tivo via chat and was told only best buy had info on them and tivo didn't have that information. Seems i'm not part of the test market.
From what I can tell, the Mini is supposed to release the Roamio tuner after 90 minutes of "inactivity." Can someone tell me what "inactivity" means? Does the mini actually sense via HDMI that the TV is shut off and release the tuner 90 minutes later? If that is the case, how about if you are playing back a recorded show on the mini and shut the TV off... does it sense that at some point and pause the playback?
I searched but did not find this answered in another thread. If I missed it, please point me in the right direction. Thanks!
I have 3 old TiVo devices I no longer own that are still listed within my TiVo.app as available devices to control/watch. Obviously, it doesn't work when I switch to any of them. I'd like to remove them completely from the list so that only the TiVo devices I currently own are listed. Is this possible?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!
I just replaced my 2 Premier units with a Roamio and a Mini which so far has worked great, but I'm having a strange issue on the Tivo Mini.. A lot of the channels are showing up with the "Channel Not Authorized (V58)" error on my Mini.. but those channels show up fine on the Roamio that it connects to. The Roamio has a tuning adapter and an M card.. Why would this happen?
So with no fireworks in the Tardis, both in and out, they're going down the "Gallifrey is un-time-locked".
I know that the older remote with the 1 2 switch can be programmed to control Apple TV on the 2 position.
But I have a romio now and that remote doesn't have the 1 2 switch.
Can the romio remote also control the Apple TV ?
Can it switch without the 1 2 switch ?
Hi All. I am getting a Roamio Pro and Mini and so confused on the cabling required and MoCa. This is what I will have below and didn't know if someone had a schematic or could list the all the pieces I need (POE filter, adapter, etc...). This will basically be a new install for WOW cable (using them for internet and cable service).
-WOW cable has a single coax that currently comes into the basement and is just hanging.
-I have a coax hanging in the basement that will go to the Mini in the bedroom (no CAT5 available).
-I then have coax and ethernet cables dangling from where the 2 coax cables above are dangling in the basement to the family room where I will have the Roamio Pro, cable modem and router.
I am not that technical so just figuring out when I need. Thanks for your assistance.
I am a long time TiVo owner - since Series 1 in fact! I've been a huge advocate for TiVO over the years, encourage folks to switch from cable DVRs. That being said, the frustration each time I get a new HD box has gotten me to the point that I don't think I could recommend friends to switch to TiVO any more.
For my past two boxes (premiere and Romio) I had a full week of drama trying to get all my channels to work. The thing is, I am not really sure there is anyone to blame. TiVO provides great instructions, a great OS with good onscreen directions on what to do. My cable company (Orlando Brighthouse) is actually very helpful and tries everything that they know how to do. The techs that come to my house try everything that they know - but readily admit they only handle 1 or 2 a year. At the end - to get all the channels to work as an end user, I have to find an obscure internet forum (DSL forums) and then post info that the average user wouldn't know how to find.
Don't get me wrong, I am VERY happy that that resource exists...but it shouldn't be that difficult. I couldn't in good conscious, tell a friend or neighbor to go through that - no matter how much I love TiVO. I'm not sure what the answer is for TiVo - I want them to be successful. Heck, I even own stock...but I don't know in today's age of iOS products that "just work" if they can survive having to interact with "big cable".
Just venting and airing my thoughts after a week of frustration. :)
I've noticed that a particular show shows up in "my shows" when it should be under Kids (Sheriff Callie's Wild West- on Disney). Is this a TiVo, content or mso issue? Not a big deal but would like to report it to whomever controls. It does not have a 'kids' tagging/category on western.
Fall update email just landed :)
Ability to record season pass with any channel instead of just one
Ability to set up season passes 6months before show airs
New Spotifyand HSN app
Good to see Tivo is continuing to improve the service :)
1) confused how to view Netflix on the Mini. Have looked under all areas and can't find it. Running 20.4.2
2) had to buy a replacement Tivo slide pro remote. It uses a different dongle than is currently connected to my Mini. What are the differences between the dongles.
I was thinking about getting from him...I wantt o use it to record TV and replace a windows 7 computer I am using Media Center to record stuff with. Is it possible to use with out a subscription?
I am looking at a friends Series 2 and wondering if it can be used with out a subscription service. We just want to be able ti replace a computer that we use windows media center on to record TV shows.
I've read that iOS 8 and the iPhone 6 models support FaceTime over cellular via H.265. H.265 is supposed to have equal video quality to H.264 at half the bit rate.
I wonder if TiVo can implement H.265 and then allow out-of-home streaming over cellular?
I'm considering buying the new TiVo Roamio Pro. I live in Arizona and we have Cox Communications for cable. I just noticed that the DVR that I have with them, is starting to delete recordings after a couple of days and I'm not sure why. I can't seem to find a setting to stop this from doing it automatically. This has never happened before, as I was able to keep things for up to two months or more without messing with a setting.
So this brings me to the new TiVo, I'm wondering if the cable card that goes into the DVR will cause pixelations? I keep hearing this from a friend of mine that works for verizon. Can anyone shed light on this before I make this big purchase. :)
Oh, my. It's like The Walking Dead, if The Walking Dead were written by an 11 year old. An 11 year old poor writer.
Is it supposed to be camp? It feels like it took itself too seriously for camp, but then there were some scenes that surely weren't meant to be taken seriously.
My original Premiere drive died (stuck in reboot loop). Thanks to ggieseke I was able to get another image and restored that image (with DvrBARS) to a new WD 1TB drive, expanded and supersized that drive (with jfms).
Popped it back into the Tivo - it booted, ran through guided setup. Strangely my cable card seemed to still be paired (meaning I can get channels). I can login and stream Netflix. It downloaded whatever updates it needed. All seems to be working normally.
Of course until I go to record. Nothing records. Not immediately with record button, not manual, not scheduled via guide. Kinda defeats the purpose of a DVR!! I've rebooted it and checked what settings I know and all seem correct.
The shows which are scheduled (and the time to start has passed) just show in the To Do list like they are still waiting to kick off and record.
I read in a very old thread that one could do a Clear and Delete Everything to fix this, but then I'll lose the cable card pairing and have to deal w/ Cox.
Any other ideas, or is the CD&E the option which will work?
Is there any hidden trick to make the photo slideshows built-in to a Roamio to be full screen? The options don't list anything like that, and the images I'm displaying are 1920x1080, but it always displays them with a black border on all sides instead of using all the screen.
