Instead of selling 3 million subscribers to some other cable company, Comcast-TWC may spin them off as yet another cable company.
That article references this one:
and they say the spin-off would be a new publicly traded company.
Supposedly this would get them the most money for their shareholders for "selling" those customers, but they might be able to convince the shareholders that a quick sale to a single party instead of going through the whole IPO mess might get the merger approved more quickly.
I'd like to see TiVo buy those soon-to-be-kicked-to-the-curb households and show everyone what a TiVo-friendly cable regime is like.
Of course this completely ignores the question of whether all the local franchising authorities are just going to rubber-stamp the franchises changing hands. With enough local pressure, some might even grab the opportunity to renegotiate to make things better for the community.
In place of SHIELD on 3/18, ABC will be airing a special about their movie franchise, "Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe." Looks like it will be basically a one-hour ad for Captain America, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Age of Ultron, but it might have some cool sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes stuff.
If I have 2 streams on 2 different networks in different locations on the same account will I be able to stream from any TiVo on either network?
Deadwood Series Marathon - 36 hours - Starts Saturday March 15 10:00 AM ET
This is third place that I've posted this problem with no response from forum administrators. Apparently there's a problem since I am not the only one experiencing it.
I don't like caps but maybe they have a use right now:
DO YOU THINK YOU COULD FIND TIME TO FIX A CORE FEATURE OF THE PLATFORM YOU SUPPORT?
and let me help you out:
* Its not hotmail's servers.
* Its not my hotmail blocked sender setting.
* Its not my TiVo forum Profile settings.
* Its not my firewall, virus, malware or any other excuse you might cling to. Its on in your environment....
Anyone catch Prince on Arsenio Hall?
Interesting...he used to be such a private person... I never really see him do late night shows or interviews in general...
Something must have changed for him... He also showed up on "New Girl" after the Super Bowl...
I am having an issue with Charter. My local Charter store only has 2 tuner Motorola M-Cards. They state that they cannot get any other. Talk to Charter nationally and they say they have a 5 tuner Scientific Atlanta card but I have to get it at my local Charter store as they do not have a mechanism in place to mail the card. Go to my local Charter store and they say they cannot get the card. Rinse and repeat. Been trying to get a resolution over the past month to no avail. Even when told that the FCC requires they provide at least a 4 tuner card they say sorry. Did get a Charter area supervisor to call me over a week ago to say they will look into it, but no return phone call and they would not give me any contact information to call or email them back. Very frustrating.
The title pretty much says it all. I may have a chance to get a S3. Was the Glo Remote the standard remote that came with ALL Series 3 (OLED....TCD648250B) TiVos back in the day?
Geoff passed at 83 yesterday due to complications from pneumonia.
Best known for "Treasure Hunt", which he hosted for eight years; a new generation knew him as the host of the arcade game show "Starcade" in the early '80s (with recent reruns on G4 when that channel launched).
Also hosted two of the three versions of "Jackpot!", the '90s remake of "Chain Reaction" and a slew of others (plus appeared as a regular on "The Bobby Darin Show" in 1973), but his news and radio careers are just as impressive - as a young reporter, he was on-scene when Lee Harvey Oswald was shot. he had been working as a travel writer most recently.
I can't say I met Geoff, but I was on a conference call with him once, and I was FB friends with him for a long time. He was a wonderful guy.
Last night my wife watched My Grandmother's Ravioli on the Cooking Channel and tried to create a season pass for it. After the show ended, she did a search, found the show, and saw that "view other showings" showed no upcoming shows despite the fact that another episode would be on in a few hours. Because of this she was not given the option of creating a season pass.
Next, she scrolled through the guide, found the show, and clicked "select" on the remote. Once again, the "view other showings" list was empty and it was not possible to create a season pass.
At that point, she got me involved and I successfully created a season pass for it on tivo.com. It was set up the next time my Roamio called home as expected.
I've been a TiVo user for 13+ years and have never experienced this before. I thought this was perhaps an intermittent issue, but I just tried looking at "view other showings" for this show again now and the list is still blank even though the season pass has been successfully created.
Has anyone else seen this, and if so, how did you address it?
I have a lifetime Series 3 (OLED) that is still cranking away great. I hadn't really been using it in a while (its in a guest room) & it more or less just serves as a cable box, but I did recently try to use its Netflix. I noticed that Netflix on this device loads a LOT faster than on one of my lifetime 2-tuner Premieres (all hard wired ethernet).
I realize the S3 Netflix is not pretty. Can't do easy searches, resuming of TV series and it will only do the first profile in my account, but it seems to work much faster. Getting NETFLIX to work on my premiere is painful at times. I have had to reboot the Premiere at times to get it fully working. I actually also have a Mini and Netflix on this device is the best of any, but anybody else have better luck (in terms of speed) with Netflix on an S3 over an S4/Premiere? Just wondering
Remember Ceiva? One of the original digital photo frames… that incorporated Internet connectivity (!) to receive pushed pics from remote family as we did about 10 years ago for Mom. Apparently the company is still alive and kicking, having just pushed the Ceiva HomeView widget station thru the FCC. While the Ceiva HomeView (SHR558) is capable of […]

So what's the best way to go about selling a Roamio Pro with Lifetime and two Minis with Lifetime? Here or eBay? And what's the process for transferring ownership? Is it easy or does Tivo make in convoluted? Thanks.
Within the last six months or so both of my TiVoHDs will randomly (couple times a month) record something on the SD channel rather than the HD channel. As best I can tell there's no rhyme or reason to when it'll happen. It's occurred with season passes and manual recordings on broadcast networks and cable networks. The most recent instances I can recall are this week's Justified (SP on the HD channel) and the Grammys (set a manual recording on the HD channel). Both showed in the To Do List as being set to record on the HD channel the evening they recorded. For Justified in the Recording History the HD recording is listed as not recorded/same episode. If this is some fail safe mechanism from the HD channel being unavailable I'd rather it just didn't bother since the SD feeds here are awful.
Some notes: My cable system has different channel numbers for SD and HD channels and the recordings indicate they are from the SD channel, not a wrong signal on the HD channel. Admittedly I could have selected the wrong channel on the manual recordings, but since I never browse any channels below my HD channels I doubt that's what happened. All of my SPs are for the HD channels only and I have no Wishlists.
I have a new Tivo Roamio Plus and have had lots of trouble getting streaming to work (in my home network).
Streaming Setup worked at one point, and was successful. I was able to stream a few shows here and there but then it would say streaming device not found and ask me to repeat Streaming Setup.
I had repeat Streaming Setup numerous times and sometimes it would work, and sometimes it would stay Streaming Device Not Found.
Then, yesterday when I went to stream it would start streaming but no video would come through. I would just get a blank screen. Same for downloading - it would just hang at 0kb downloaded.
So I went and rebooted my Tivo Roamio to see if this would fix the problem (I've done this multiple times throughout the process). Now, the TiVo app says Streaming Device Not Found and won't complete setup again.
This has happened before and after a day or so I usually get back to either sporadic streaming success, or the blank streams I described above.
My TiVo is directly connected over ethernet to my router, an Apple Time Capsule.
Thoughts on how to fix this?
Update: Rebooted my router as well. Now I was able to connect to the Stream again, but it's a blank video with no content. Same for downloading - nothing comes through and it just hangs.
The short version of the long story goes as follows:
1. Mysteriously lost some channels.
2. Charter came out and messed with the cable cards. Said that it might take overnight to get channels back.
3. Next day, all but network channels were missing.
4. Finally got a tech out that [apparently] said that the IP address from Charter was wrong. Fixed that, got all channels back BUT no channel info (ie TiVo wouldn't be recording anything). :)
4. I ran Guided Set up to try to get that info, now we're back to square one (technically step 3--all but network channels are missing again).
Would sincerely appreciate any help/insights you guys can provide. Thanks!

Is there any way to simulate a Tivo attempting to download a paused show? Or is the protocol used between tivos unknown/not understood?
Secondly, does the model of tivo #2 in the above procedure matter? Can it be another series 4 or newer tivo? or is it restricted to old models?
This has happened a couple of times recently, and I'm not sure if it's new behavior or just something that hasn't come up before. A show with multiple showings (in this case, The Americans) suddenly decides to record all showings. I cancel the extra ones. TiVo then deletes the original showing that I left in the To Do List, apparently because it thinks I don't want to see it since I canceled it once.
Which means my only options are to clutter up my Now Playing with multiple incidents of an episode, or cancel the extras, wait for the original to vanish, and re-schedule it manually.
And this seems to be becoming a problem, because lately there have been a number of occasions where TiVo is suddenly scheduling all of a show, even though the Guide Data clearly shows that they're all the same episode.
What's up with that?
I'm really happy the brains tribe didn't lose yet again. Kind of hated to see Bryce go, but would have hated to say goodbye to Morgan a whole lot more.
Tony is a guy I would get tired of quickly IRL. Gotta give him credit, though, he seems to be hustling in the right ways.
Shivering in the rain is the new sitting around starving. Seems like Survivor figured out years ago that starving people are boring. Are there no "tropical paradises" that live up to the name? I don't care if they stay in one place forever, but make it an interesting, pretty, place.
3 episodes in, I'd say this season is off to a solid start.
New Roamio Pro owner here, trying to get used to the smaller remote. I must be hitting something on the remote that is making my TV shut off, but I can't figure out what it is. Suddenly I see on the TV a message "Shutting off in 3 minutes" and a count down, then at the end the TV shuts off. I can't figure out how to disable it (and I don't know what I hit to activate it)!
Anyone have any ideas? I have a Panasonic TV.
